Always Start with the Learning Intentions

Today, we were lucky enough to have PE with Ms. Wilson's class. She taught everyone the importance of warming up properly and stretching. In addition to this, she emphasized to the students the importance of safety when using the gymnastics equipment.

On Thursday, the students will be working on their landings and their gymnastics routines/sequences.

1.) MATH 6: Compile data (For example Wins, losses, games played, etc) for a different sport or activity. Calculate any 3 percentages, decimals, ratios, and fractions in a neat and organized manner.
MATH 7: Any assigned work. Check your teacher's website.

2.) LA: Continue editing/revising your essay draft based on your self/peer assessment forms.

3.) SHOWCASED BLOG:

Visit Hello Kitty's Learning Journey and leave her at least 4 comments (suggestions / feedback / questions)

4.) WRITE A RESPONSE #1:

Watch this video and post your observations. List at least 3 criteria points that you would consider if you were judging the dismount/landing.

Monday: Feedback - Use Better Transition Words

The students continued learning about 'HUMAN RIGHTS' today. They started working on their oral language abilities and interviewed each other. They asked each other 5 questions that each of the students came up with. After taking notes on their responses, they recorded videos of each other so they could complete self/peer assessments on what they could do to improve their speaking skills. They saved these files to their Google Drives and will give each other more feedback tomorrow. Once they have completed the feedback process, the class will create a video that explains what they learned about Human Rights.

1.) MATH 6: Make a copy of this data table and paste it into your spreadsheet. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE 'CELLS' in the percentage columns. The only information that you will change will be the different teams (6), wins, losses, overtime games, and total games played. The percentages will change automatically because the formulas will not be altered. Do not complete the ratio and decimal columns. If you have any questions, post them here.

MATH 7: Any assigned work. Check your teacher's website.

2.) WRITE A RESPONSE #1:

3.) WRITE A RESPONSE #2:

After reviewing all of your essays, all of you would benefit from using better transition words in your body paragraphs.
Do some research and post a link to a good source of transition words and give one reason why you think the link is a reliable one. DO NOT JUST CHOOSE ANY RANDOM LIST.
Also, list at least 5 different transition words (from your research) that you and your classmates could use in their body paragraphs for their supporting sentences. Do your best not to repeat one that have already been mentioned by your classmates.

THINK - PAIR - SHARE

The students were unbelievably engaged in their learning today. They learned about human rights in Social Studies and learned many new things. Not only did they dive deeper into creating deep and meaningful questions, but they also gave insightful comments about what they learned during our classroom discussions. The combination of virtual and face to face collaboration/discussions was extremely powerful. They were able to learn from each other and build on what they already knew. Some of the discussions questions that came up included:

What can happen if human rights are ignored?
Have you ever seen (not on TV but in life) a human rights abuse (treatment that is unkind, cruel or unfair)
Can history help us appreciate our human rights? How?
What can you learn from the people who have worked for human rights?
What would happen if everyone knew their human rights?
