THURSDAY: National Skills Competition

Today, the students went on a field trip to B.C. Place to take part in many different activities. It was an opportunity for the students to see many different skills, trades, and occupations that may inspire them to learn more about each specific one. For more information, please click here.

1.) FORMS: Please remember to bring your Grouse Grind field trip form, Sunnyside field trip form, grade 7 year book form, and fun night form!

2.) IMPORTANT NEWS: Tomorrow is Ms. Fei's last day with us! Be sure to show her your appreciation when you see her tomorrow!

3 .) WRITE A RESPONSE:

What different activities did you take part in at the National Skills Competition?

WEDNESDAY: ANCIENT EGYPT

Today, we went back in time and explored the ancient civilization and engineering of Egypt. The students worked on their questioning skills and kept a record of anything that made them want to learn more about Ancient Egypt. We are looking forward to diving deeper into Ancient Egypt. The students will all be doing research on one of the questions they created.

Also, students finished editing their photos, creating photo collages, and making visible their thinking behind their photos via ThingLink.com. Check out the ThingLink interactive images by division 4 students!

1.) FORMS: Please remember to bring your Grouse Grind field trip form, Sunnyside field trip form, grade 7 year book form, and fun night form!

2.) MATH: If you have not handed in your integer math project, it is 2 days overdue!

3.) ART: For your ThingLink images, many of you did NOT describe how your photos show the concepts of leading lines, rule of thirds, contrast, and WEV/BEV. That is part of the criteria, so please revise your ThingLink Image.

If your photography project is not done, it is also overdue! Please ensure that 1) your PicMonkey Collage is uploaded to Google Drive (Photography Div4, Final Collage) AND 2) your QR Code to your ThingLink image is inserted into tinyurl.com/div4photoqrcode)

4.) WRITE A RESPONSE: Post 3-5 of the questions you came up with today on Egypt that you feel are the best. Remember, we are not looking for simple yes or no questions.

TUESDAY: Team Rocket, blasting off again...

This morning, each group designed and conducted rocket experiments. Groups decided on the independent variable they wanted to investigate, the dependent variable they were measuring, and the variables they had to control for. Fun times!

Being a class of 21st Century learners, we foster the four C's of 21st Century learning (Collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity). I was really impressed with the GoAnimate videos that students created (by Kevin, Josh, and Amanda; by Mariko, Abby, and Colby) in Mademoiselle Fei / Waddell's French class! Be sure to check it out!

1.) FORMS: Please remember to bring your Skills Canada field trip form, Grouse Grind field trip form, Sunnyside field trip form, grade 7 year book form, and fun night form!

2.) MATH: Integer projects are overdue if you haven't submitted them to Ms. Fei!

3.) SCIENCE: Complete these questions via Google Form about our experiment today.

4.) ART: Work on your photography project (edit photos, make the collage, create the ThingLink interactive image).

Tomorrow will be your LAST class to complete your photography project.
The project will be due at the end of class tomorrow!
All the instructions for the project is in a document called "Final Photography Project", which was shared with you on Google Drive.

5.) WRITE A RESPONSE: Find a helpful video related to a style of dance (eg. Hip-hop, lyrical, tap, square, contemporary, acro, musical theatre, jazz) that you want to learn/perform in PE. Post:

MONDAY: Culture Sharing

Students began the day by continuing with their photo editing and collage. Some students already shared their collages on Google Drive, and it's great to see the progress they are making. In book club, students gave peer feedback to one another for their written response #3.

In the afternoon, students participated in an assembly where Aboriginal guests came and shared about their culture with us.

1.) FORMS: Please remember to bring your Skills Canada field trip form, Grouse Grind field trip form, Sunnyside field trip form, grade 7 year book form, and fun night form!

2.) UPDATE YOUR DAY: Please fill out this Google Form to update Ms. Fei about your day today.

3.) MATH: The integer project is due tomorrow! Please bring all parts of your project to school tomorrow. As you put finishing touches on your project, remember to refer to the criteria for the integer project!

4.) WRITE A RESPONSE (BOOK CLUB): Post your REVISED written response #3 here. You should have completed revisions in class today.

5.) MATH CHALLENGE TEST: The following students (Ryna, Daniel, Richard, and Dru) will be walking to Clayton Secondary tomorrow at 10:30am to write the Math Challenge Exam. If you score high enough, you will automatically skip Math 8.
