Chemical Changes

Today, you learned about physical and chemical changes. You saw a demonstration outside of a chemical change. Mr. Fisher combined several different chemicals and a new substance was formed. What did you notice before, during, and after the chemical reaction was complete? These are all questions that can be answered using the background knowledge you gained during the lesson today!

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Write a paragraph explaining the differences between physical and chemical changes.
After explaining what each is, give at least one example of both types of changes with supporting details.
Don't forget to use an engaging hook and a conclusion to end your parargaph.

In a physical change, the original substance still exsits, it has only changed in form. In a chemical change, a new substance is produced. Energy changes always accompany chemical changes.

Changes in a matter occur everyday. There are two different ways matter can be altered; chemically and physically. What is a physical and chemical change? Well, a physical change is a type of change in which the form of matter is altered but the substances don't change. The size or shape might be changed, but no chemical reaction occurs. A chemical change is a process where one or more substances are altered into one or more new and different substances. The difference between these two is that a physical change doesn't change one substance to another but a chemical change does. An example of a physical change is cutting an apple. This would be a physical change because you are using a knife to cut it not chemicals. An example of a chemical change is combustion of wood. Why? Well, the wood is disappearing and being converted to gas products, leaving only some ashes. You might get confused often to figure out which is which but remember physical changes are when substances do not change from one to another and a chemical change is when a substance changes from one to another.

Hello and welcome to episode 3 of Ultimate Advice Giver Andrew is Awesome. Today I will be explaining physical and chemical changes. They are different. Physical changes are things that doesn't change what it's made of. If ice melts into water, it's still the same, the particles are just more spread out because it changed into a liquid so this is a physical change. Chemical changes are things that changes what it's made of. If you burn paper, it's chemical because it burned into ash which isn't the same as paper. Or if you eat bananas and you digest it, it's chemical because it turned into poo which isn't the same as a banana. You're welcome.

Today we worked on science. It is really fun and I am really excited to do the cabbage experiment. My group is Jerry, Miikka, Coco and I. But the question is, what have we been learning for science? Just a bit of chemistry and we will be also working on reactions. But the main thing we worked on today we're something called "Chemical and Physical changes." A physical change is when the size or shape might be changed but it is still the same thing. For example, if you melt a piece of ice, the shape changes but it is still water. Understand? Now a chemical change is a bit different. Chemical changes is different because a new material is created or the molecules themselves change. Overall I hope we will continue more chemistry since science is super fun and amusing. I learned a lot about chemical and physical changes today.

A physical change is when is changed into a different shape/form but stays the same thing. For example if you rip a wrapper of something it's still a wrapper but a ripped one. A chemical change is when chemicals do stuff to something and that thing is something else because of what the chemicals did to it. For example if I fire burns a piece of wood then after it's done burning it the piece of wood is not a piece of wood anymore. That's the difference between these changes so a physical change doesn't make the object a different thing and a chemical change makes the object something different.

Physical change and chemical change are two different kinds of changes. Physical change means the change of physical state or change of the look but it's still the same thing. For example, a tree got cut into half is still a tree. However, chemical change means the change of the substance itself. It becomes a new substance and no longer the same as before . For example, a tree got burned becomes ashes and carbon and not a tree anymore. The change is forever.

In class we learned about chemistry. The main thing we focused on are changes in things. There are two types of changes, chemical and physical. The difference between physical and chemical change is that physical change is when something changes its shape but it is still the same substance. For example, if you have a piece of wood and you cut it with an axe, it is still wood. It didn't change into something different it just became a smaller piece of wood. A chemical change is the opposite of physical change. A chemical change is when your object turns into something different when mixed with other substances. For example, when you burn wood. If you cut wood it is still wood but when you burn it, it turns into charcoal which is no longer wood. To sum it up, physical change is when something changes shape or form and chemical change is when something turns into a completely different thing.

What would you call it if you rip a piece of paper? Or burn some firewood? What happens to the substances? They change, right? The name of the changes is a physical change and a chemical change. Those two are quite different, so make sure to not get confused. In a physical change, the substance remains the same. You can change the shape or form but it the substance is still the same, it’s a physical change. For example, its say you draw on a piece of paper. That would be a physical change because the paper is still a paper. A chemical change is when you do change the substance. For example, if you burn a piece of paper, that would be a chemical change. That’s because the paper changed into ash. Now, I hope you can identify the difference between a physical change and a chemical change.

Today, we learned about chemical changes and physical changes. These can get kind of confusing so I'm going to attempt to explain them to you. A physical change is when you change the shape of a substance and it's still the same thing. For example, say you cut up a piece of paper. This would be a physical change because it's still paper. Now that you (hopefully) know what a physical change is, let me explain a chemical change. A chemical change is when you change a substance. For example, if you burned a piece of paper it would be a chemical change because the paper turned into ashes and is no longer paper. Now hopefully, you know the difference between a chemical change and a physical change. Sorry I explained this badly.

Have you ever gone camping and had a campfire? The wood used in the fire turns into ash and charcoal. This is a chemical change. What is a chemical change? Well, there are two types of changes: chemical and physical changes. A chemical change is when the substance of something changes. It also cannot be reversed. For example, if you leave a wet iron nail on the countertop for a while, the iron nail would have rusted over. The rust is a different substance from iron called iron oxide. The iron oxide cannot be converted back into iron. However, a physical change is when the substance doesn’t change. It may or may not be reversible. An example of a reversible physical change is freezing water. The ice can be easily melted back into water and the water molecules haven’t changed. Then, the water can be easily frozen back into ice. An irreversible physical change is cutting a wood block in half. We can’t put it back together perfectly, but the wood is still wood. In conclusion, change is a very important part of our lives. If we know about the changes, we can use our knowledge to prevent things we don’t want from happening, like a bridge rusting. We can also do the opposite and create things to make our lives better.

Thing always change and that is why scientists grouped the changes into two categories. Physical changes and chemical changes. Now don't fall asleep just yet, I will explain this to you and it will be on the test. A physical change can be a change in shape, colour, or state of matter. As long as it is still the same substance it is a physical change. A chemical change is when some thing no longer has the property of that thing anymore. Such as oxygen and hygrogen, you mix them together they are no longer oxygen nor are they hygrogen. They become water. So if the substance changes it is a chemical change. Ding------- Okay class dismissed.

Do you want to trick your friends? Well, an easy way to do so is to ask them if they think it's possible for peanut butter to be converted into a diamond. (Hint: it's true). Another way to get them confused is to ask them about the differences between chemical and physical changes. There are actually some pretty big differences! Let me define them first; a chemical change is where you fully change a substance/material, usually by adding another substance to it. An example of a chemical change is when you licht a piece of firewood on fire. The wood is no longer wood, as if you leave it burning long enough, it will soon disintegrate and turn into ashes. However, a physical change is where you change the form of something, but nothing has really changed. For example, melting ice is considered a physical change because it's still ice, just in a liquid state.

Do you hate science because you think it’s impossible to tell the difference between chemical and physical changes? Well, I hope I can ChAnGe your mind. Here’s what I learned to tell the difference. It’s a physical change when no new substances are formed as a result of the change. Cutting a stick in half is not a chemical change, because even though the stick is broken it is still just a stick, and no new substances have been created. However if someone burned the stick by setting it on fire, that would be a chemical change. By burning the stick they have made a new substance of burnt wood and gas. In short, a physical change is when you have all the substances you started with, no more and no less. And a chemical change is when new substances have been created. That’s all there really is to it.

BOOM! Science! When you change something, it will be either chemical or phisical. A phisical change is when you squash, rip, or dissolve something, but it is still the same thing. For example, even if you mix sugar with water, it will disolve. But the sugar is still there, the water is still there, and if you evaporate the water you will have sugar again.
A chemical change is when you combine, mix, burn, or let something oxidise and the chemical formula, a.k.a the substance, actually changes into something else. For example if you mix sodium with chlorine you get salt, which we eat every day. Whereas each chemical on it's own can be toxic if consumed. If you burn paper, it turns black and smokes- chemical change. If you mix some chemicals, like in the beggining of this paragraph, they will explode. But painting something or breaking it would be a phisical change.

Today in science, we learn about physical change and chemical change, do you know the difference between these two. Let me explain what each of these is. Firstly, let's talk about physical change. It is something that the substance change but then the chemical component does not change. For example, if you crumple a paper, the shape will definitely change, but did the components change? No, this tell us that it is a physical change because only the shape change but then the paper is still a paper. Let talk about chemical change. It means that a substance change into a new substance, which it is also different than before. For example, when you are cooking an egg, the heat will make some changes to the material. And also as you are cooking at the egg, it cannot return to a uncooked egg so it tell you that it is a chemical change. The difference between these two is that physical change can be reversed, but then chemical change can't, which is a big difference between these two.

Physical and chemical changes. You know what? A lot of the times I get confused with the two. But now I still do, but I'm getting better at knowing which one is which. If you don't know the difference between them, I'll tell you. Physical changes is were you adapt the physical form but not the chemicals its made out of. For example, cutting and apple. You are not changing the chemicals in the apple itself. It just stays the same. An apple. How ever,chemical changes are different. Chemical changes is were you alter the chemicals in as object. (Or anything really.) For example, iron rusts. It has too. So when it does, the chemicals inside of the iron reacts with oxygen (I think) and so it turns into rust. So, now you know the differences between physical and chemical changes.

What is physical and chemical change? Have you ever had difficulties knowing the difference between chemical and physical changes? Well, hopefully after you read this, you will understand the differences and what each of them are. First I will be talking about chemical changes. Chemical change is when a new thing is made after observing the chemicals. For example, the cake batter before you bake it and the cake after you bake it. When you heat and bake the cake batter, a reaction happens involving two chemicals and that is what makes the gooey batter into a fluffy treat. Next, physical changes. Physical change is when you melt, boil, evaporate something and it is still the same thing. For example, when you melt an ice cube. After it melts, it is basically the same thing from when it was an ice cube because they are both still water, but just turned solid into liquid. So those are the differences between the two.

Today, we had a brief introduction to physical and chemical changes. The the difference may be pretty obvious but really they really aren't until you read this PAR. So physical change. This change is exactly what it sounds like. Physical appearance, smell, touch, sound or taste may change but not the substance it is made out of. For example, if water freezes, it looks different, and it feels different, etc but it's still H2O. Now, chemical changes. Chemical changes happen when you add new energy directly onto the substance. For example, metals like Iron rusting. You may think that it's a physical change but it is not because the rust is a totally different substance. The original Iron is Fe but overtime, oxygen sticks to the Iron (Fe) which oxidizes it making it FeO. Compared to the physical change example, the chemical it self changed making this a chemical change. See, they really aren't that difficult to identify whether it is a physical change or a chemical change.

Physical and chemical changes may seem very similar, and people might thing the two are the same thing. Let me tell you the difference between those two.

Physical changes are changes in which the original substance stays the same, just the mass, color, or form may be different. A chemical change is the processes of two different substances combining to make a new substance.

Well, there is a big difference between the specific changes. A physical change is something that stays the same but is colored, or the shape is changed, also if something like the mass changed, ect. A chemical change is mixing something together to change the substance or make a completely new one. Or that is something natural like rust occurring on a bike or a car.
