Mr. Hong was learning over the last 2 days!

Tomorrow, we will leave for ice skating promptly at 10 am tomorrow morning. Parents, please be outside the classroom by 9:50am so we can organize our students with their drivers. We appreciate and thank all parents who are volunteering tomorrow. Click here for driver/student list.

IMPORTANT: Please bring 2 metal hangers and decorations to start your holiday wreaths tomorrow.

1.) MATH: Any unfinished work from yesterday. All 4 grids must be drawn for each question.

2.) LA WRITING: Continuing working on your writing.

3.) INQUIRY:

Students who have yet present will do so tomorrow morning before we go ice skating.

Over the last few days, I have been away taking a search and rescue first aid course and I learned much about how to help people in the event of a disaster like an earthquake.
You have had a substitute teacher for two days. I was informed that some students did not use their best self-regulation skills that they have learned this year.
Please post a paragraph on how you took or didn't take ownership of your behaviour yesterday and today.
Include any comments you would like to direct at the substitute teacher here as well.
REQUIRED: Ask one other student a question about their post about why or why they didn't act in a respectful manner.

Self-regulation is a word Mr. Hong always says. It is a very important skill. I may not be a master at it yet, but I am definetly improving on this.

I'd say I took responsibility of my actions pretty well. Over the past few days, I haven't been distracting others/getting distracted by others, fooling around, or talking out of turn. I've also been regulating ny noise level and environment.

I was quite self-regulated today and yesterday.

@ Max - I was very pleased to read your post. I am aware that you were very self-regulated over the last two days and I am extremely proud of you. I am proud of you because you are learning and improving on a daily basis. This is what school is all about. You are here to learn and to improve in everything from academics to your social-emotional well-being. Well done Max. I'm really happy to hear about your good behaviour!

@Mr.Hong,am sorry but the substitute teacher told us that if we forgot something to just go out and come back which I did .I took my book from the classroom quickly and came back to the library.

Self Regulation is a word that Mr. Hong uses a lot. I'd say I was very self regulated these last two days. I wasn't distracting others or being distracted by others.

Self-regulation; something that is easy to do, remember and learn...if you know how to do it and what it is. Two days ago, I wasn't the best at showing this but today, I did better.

The first day, the incident happened during math. I was reading the whole time, excluding a bit of occasional chatter with my table group. At the end, counters were all over the place. Someone came to pick them up, but there were still a few left over as we were transitioning. I know I probably should’ve self-regulated, but I just made it harder for the teacher because I was trying to stuff counters in a person's pencil case. (Sorry)

The second day, it was better, and I self-regulated. I gave a letter to the teacher and there weren't any other commotions; it was a generally peaceful day with PE, Inquiry and catch-up time.Everything went pretty smoothly, so I'd say it was only the first day that was difficult.

Overall, I think that the next time there is a substitute, I should self-regulate better.

(My mom's been shouting at me for the past 30 minutes. -_-)

Self-regulation and respect is always needed and required in division 2, even when the teacher isn’t Mr. Hong. No matter which adult or even if there is no adult in the class, I think the class should always be self-regulated.

For the past two days, division 2 has been lucky to have Ms. Juric in the classroom for a substitute. I would say I am self-regulated for the two days because I know the difficulties of being a substitute teacher. Though some people didn’t self-regulate on the first day, I think everyone still did a very good job for the second day. I was quiet when the teacher talked, and I helped her when she needed it.

In the end, this is why self-regulation in a classroom is so important, especially for a substitute teacher. I hope that we will all try our best to self-regulate for the rest of the year.

Self-regulation is an important thing to have in class.

Yesterday, during math I wasn’t perfectly regulated because some of the times I was talking to other people when I wasn’t supposed to, and I got distracted a lot because counters were all over the place and had to pick them up.

Today, I was more self-regulated because I had learned my lesson yesterday and didn’t get distracted easily like the day before.
In conclusion it’s very important to self-regulate in class and to not talk during class because you might be losing a lot of learning.

Self regulation is about controlling yourself, but two days ago I didn't behave as well.

The first day everything was great until math, when I was playing with the counters and got a lot on the floor. The second day everything was pretty good and I behaved well.

@Mr.Hong,,if she meant during the first day yes i did stay in the classroom because in the library i can't log in to my username so i went to our classroom and two others who were there using the computers I checked my Username and glad it worked and that explained why I stayed in the classroom.Am sorry for I was not self regulated at this time but not on the 2nd day because I came back with the substitute teacher was even seated beside me.

I can say I was quite self-regulated when Ms. Juric was present. I respected the rules and regulations she applied. When she would lecture us about our regulation issues, I would clarify that I was helping a student with work or telling them relevant info.

One big issue that me as well as others seemed to notice is that she does not understand certain situations. When we were in P.E, I suggested playing bench ball dodge ball, and described the rules to her in detail. When I was instructed to explain the rules to the class, I clearly mentioned that she may call jailbreak when she feels it is right. As we were playing the game was found to be quite unbalanced, and we told her she could call jailbreak. After the game ended she "accused" us of forging rules as we see fit. Multiple people stated that I did indeed talk about jailbreak before the games. This is further backed up as when I suggested the game, I was forced to scream it. I do hope people may vouch for me when I say this.

@ Unaid - Yes, I also heard you mentioning about the rules of jailbreak. I understand when you are given a false accusation. It can be very frustrating too for me. Though she might have made a false accusation, I think we can understand her from a substitute teacher’s point of view. Remember that it isn’t easy teaching a new class, especially a higher grade one. :)

I must say that I was self-regulated enough to say that I didn’t cause any trouble and I wasn’t the noisest but I was still a LITTLE loud, and Ms.Juric was calling some names Like Kevin but Kevin did noting but pick up his fallen pencil case but apparently Ms.Juric called his name because she probably couldn’t see the best for the front of the room!

And when we happened to be talking about the rules for benchball dogdeball some of the students were not self-regulate and just screaming out the words “can we just play now” and some student patiently waited for the game to start because some students could not self-regulate!

Yesterday I was behaved pretty well at math time I did not walk around or keep talking to other people all the time.
As for today I think I did pretty well too, I did not cause any trouble and I id what I need to do too.

I'm going to say yesterday because today was very "fast" and "blurry."

So I walked in the classroom, and then I saw a substitute teacher. I wondered why. Later, I found out that Mr. Hong was away for two days. Then, when we wrote the essays, I edited mine and wrote a new one. I also walked around and talked a little which was not good. After the period, I Pad number 5 got lost. At recces, I went to the music to practice for the concert. Max went too. After, it was math. I didn't know if I had to do the math. The teacher said I didn't have too. I didn't know what to do, so I just wandered around the class. Later, the teacher told me not to wander, because it is distracting. So I got a book and started reading for the rest of the time. At the end, the teacher, got frustrated, because it was loud. She wrote down the names of the "bad" people on a yellow post-it note and said that she will tell Mr. Hong. Some people thought it wasn't fair, because they say they didn't do anything bad, and they got in trouble. Many people got upset. I also say that the teacher is pretty strict. At lunch, I had pepperoni pizza for hot lunch, but someone accidentally took a pepperoni instead of Hawaiian so I ended up with the Hawaiian pizza. I also found out that the staffs was having pizza too! ^-^ It was pouring rain, so I tried to stay in as long as I can, but a teacher kicked me out, so I just stood at the doorway with a group of kids. After lunch, was the last day of inquiry, so I added a few notes, and realized I hadn't did sources, so I wrote them of my Word document, with all my sources. At the end of the day, The teacher said she texted Mr. Hong and he said that he was unhappy and said if someone is naughty again, then the persons parents will be contacted. He also said that I had to do the math. I was surprised, I tried to finish it fast so I didn't have homework, but I didn't finish, so I had to do it at home.

For the past 2 days, i have been pretty self-regulated but i will admit during PE i was fooling around at the begging but after i pulled myself together and was regulated.

self-regulation is crucial.

i have to say I wasn't a big part of the chaos yesterday. as we were working on math, some students started playing around. I wasn't quite aware of this until Mr.Juric started continually bringing it up. I soon left to use the washroom and when I came back the classroom was quite loud. though I have to say I think we all learned out the lesson and was slightly better today. In conclusion everyone makes mistakes and the best thing to do is make use of it, in this case we did. we all learned from our mistakes and corrected them the next day. :)

"Everyone! Quite down! Look over here! We won't be starting until you guys stop talking and look over here!" This is one common phrase that I had to hear during the past two days. Ms. Juric, our substitute, looked pretty annoyed that we couldn't self-regulate. Just because she isn't our permanent teacher for this year doesn't mean we can disrespect her because she is new to our class. I believe that I was pretty self-regulated and stayed quite most of the time. Yes, I did get irritated that we didn't start the gym game, but I didn't start yelling things like, "Can we start yet?!" I always think to myself if I feel like joining all the kids that don't self-regulate, if I do this, do I really want to get in trouble for it. Sometimes, yes. But almost all of the time, NEVER. Remember, you don't want to get left out of the holiday celebrations just because you cant self-regulate. OR CAMP!

In the first day, I saw a new teacher, she is not Mr. Colin or anyone else I know, who is she? Then, I know that you went two a course for two day. At that moment, I can predict that we will get in trouble of our behavior. Based on what we did with other teachers before. I tried to self-regulate my best. Unfortunately, I can't put up with the behavior of our class. It is the worst behavior I have ever seen based on before what we did with other teachers. I tried to control myself and not to scream to them. But..... I did. I screamed to them and tell them to stop, and...... Ms. Juric told me to stop. At that moment, I really want to yell! Ms. Juric called me to self-regulate. And not even telling our class to stop talking! I have plenty of question marks in my head! I started to loose control and... Got in trouble.

In the second day, I set a goal to myself. Self-regulate, Adrian. You have to self-regulate all the time. Fortunately, I reach my goal! Today, our class was quite lose of control too. I told myself to ignore the "not self-regulate" students. Hopefully, I didn't get in trouble. But the hardest thing to do is patient. Patient is my weakness. Urhhh... I still have to work on that.

Yes, self regulation. Looks like we’re back to this topic again.

Over the past two days, when we had a substitute teacher, many students in the classroom weren’t very self-regulated. I tried to be as self-regulated as I could be and I think that I did a pretty good job of it. Usually, during lunch time it would be quite chaotic and I would try to calm everyone down.
Over-all, I think I was quite self-regulated during the past two days.

Over the past few days, I can tell many students wasn’t able to self-regulate well, maybe it’s because a substitute teacher comes. We got excited about it. But at the same time, our substitute teacher didn’t really have any idea about our class rules, about C-Charts and self-regulate. Knowing that being a substitute teacher is complicated, what we should do is to try our best help her get familiar with this class.

To be honest, I’m pretty sure I was self-regulate over the past few days. I am using my wisely during math and other lessons. I would say our table is working really well with the substitute teacher. Luckily, we didn’t get disrupted by others during working time.

In conclusion, I think we should always be self-regulate no matter who’s teaching us. We should do us best to help the substitute teacher and show her our best behavior.
