Since you have all been excellent students over the last few weeks, you can take Monday off. Don't come to school on Monday. Use this time to read, spend time with your family, practice fun math questions, or whatever else you want to do. :-) It is indeed a professional development day for teachers so we will spend the day learning about fun and exciting ways to improve our teaching abilities to help you learn better.

1.) MATH 6: Complete all unfinished worksheets. Quiz on factors and multiples on Tuesday.
MATH 7: Any assigned work. Check your teacher's website.

2.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Talk to your parents about each of the parties running in the election and see if you can explain what each party wants to do.
You will have a quiz on Tuesday based on your class notes.
You must be able to explain at least 2 things each party wants to do for Canadians. Your notes were based on the article below. Remember, we wrote everything in kid friendly language. NATIONAL LINK (ARTICLE) --> Economies, taxes, and pocketbook issues.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

If your class number is an even number, skim through the Cloverdale Liberal party website and the New Democrat Party websites.
If your class number is an odd number, skim through the Cloverdale Conservative Party and Green Party websites.
In your response, write a short structured paragraph (intro, supporting details/sentences, and concluding sentence). Your paragraph must include the following points from your two assigned website.
Your response should be in kid friendly language as if you are talking to another grade 6/7 student.
Your response should include at least 2 interesting facts that each of the candidates from Cloverdale are in support of.
Give at least one student a positive comment and at least one suggestion for improvement.
Edit/revise your original post.

Him and the conservatives want to have a balanced budget a year early than scheduled, not to mention they also want to make 1.3 million jobs. On the other hand, Scott Anderson of the green party hopes to help the green party make a sustainable economy we call all live in and enjoy and most importantly protect our climate and get ready for the climate change war yet to progress. So what do you think is most important for our area? What do we need to do to help sustain it for the future?

Are you ready to vote for the candidates in our riding? Time to find out what they promise! Rebecca Smith and the NDP want to help small companies by increasing taxes for large companies, like franchises. They also want to create a National Childcare Program and increase childcare benefits! On the other side is John Aldag and the Liberals. They want to lower taxes for the middle class (Less taxes, better life) and cancel the TFSA increase that the Conservatives promise, because it only helps the rich. Who do you think will get the most votes?

What do the conservative and the green parties want to do for our country? Dean Drysdale and the conservatives favour the wealthiest and they want to increase the eligibility to age 67 instead of 65. Dean also proudly served in the canaidian army. Scott and the green party want to raise taxes on tabbaco and alcohal and eliminate taxes for families that are making 20,000 a year. Scott also is very dedicated to helping our community. If I could choose between the conservatives and the green I would choose green because the conservatives want to increase the eligibility age to 67 and they favour the wealthiest not the middle class so I would choose green. Thats what I know about the conservative party and the green party what do you know?

Conservative Party
According to the Cloverdale Conservative Party, Dean Drysdale says that the conservatives want to increase old age pensions from 65 to 67 years. The conservatives also want to increase child care benefits for children.

Green Party
On the other hand the Green Party wants to increase taxes for bigger companies as well as increase taxes on tobacco & alcohol.

In conclusion if i had the option to vote I would not vote for either green or conservatives I would vote for NDP or liberals

lets talk about the N.D.P. runner tom mulclair and he says he wants to help small buisnesses taxes from 11% to 9% that decrases it by 2%. I think that is a really good deal. And he wants to help lower jobs canadians to get better jobs

Green Party: Scott Anderson joined the Green Party so he can make a positive difference in Canada's future. Scott is confident his penchant for community orginizing will make him a great member of the Parliment for this community. Conservatives: Dean Drysdale and his conservatives want to have a balanced budget a year early also to mention Dean created so many jobs that he got people their first job

Liberal Fact:1 involving the youth in government. Government needs to understand youth better.so they are creating a group of youth to provide advice to the prim minister.FACT 2 retirement scururity he is making it so it stays at 65 instead of 67 which Harper wants to keep it at 67 and not 65.

Today, I looked at 2 of the politics websites. Firstly, I read about the Liberals and John Aldag. The first fact is the Liberals want to help the middle class. The second fact is they don't want to change the pension age to 67 like the Conservatives, the Liberals want to keep it at 65. Secondly, I read about the NDP. Their first fact is that they want to balance the budget for 2016. The New Democratic Party also wants to help the middle class. My vote would be for PURPLE! JK... I don't know who I would vote for.

Firstly the Liberal party wants to keep the pension age at 65 instead of raising it to 67. Secondly they want to lower taxes for the middle class.

Secondly the NDP want to balance the budget in 2016. Secondly increase taxes for bigger companies and lower the smaller companies taxes.

In conclusion if I were to vote I would vote for the Liberals or NDP.

I did some research from the notes and on the websites Mr Hong suggested and this is what I found out....
The conservative party and many other parts of the government belief in different things. The head candidate for the conservative part is Dean Drysdale. He was elected on November 8 of 2014.On of the conservative partys beliefs is they want to give the familys that have children from the ages of 6-17 more money. They also want to reduce taxes from small and big companys. The green partys head candidate is Scott Anderson he was born in Vancouver and born in Surrey. The green party belief in increasing the taxes for tobacco and alcohol. They also belief in lowering tax rates for small businesses.

The Conservative and Green partys
The conservative party is going to reduce family tax to increase tfsa (tax free savings account )to ten thousand dollars.I think that it will be nice because if we have more in our tax free savings we can save easier for more food. As well as the tax free savings account the conservative government will increase old age benefits to sixty-seven to saviour the rich/wealthy people, meaning when you retire all the money the government saved will be given back at sixty-seven. I don't know whether I side with yes or no because you will save more but you must work longer. The Green party is thinking about lowering taxes for small buisnesses. The only thing about lowering the taxes is that either road work, education or heath will have to be decreased. I would not lower taxes because everything there is importnt to sociaty. I agree that they should raise taxes on drugs because if the price is too high maybe people will stop purchasing them. I don't know who I will vote for but whoever wins I hope will make a difference in our municiple government for Cloverdale.

I didn't find any information on the NDP website. But i found lots of info on John Aldag where he was born the places hes lived. An avid outdoorsman who has called Frazer Vally home for the past nine years, bla bla bla and stuff like that i'm going to make an afort to talk to my mom about it she will know a lot of stuff the website didn't tell me.

John Aldag (Liberal)
John Aldag worked in the community parks for 31 years! Since he has worked in parks, he's lived in six provinces and two territories. He and all the Liberals want to help the middle class people more than anyone else.

The website Mr. Hong led us to for Rebecca Smith only had her Twitter posts. The posts just said stuff like "Vote for NDP! #NDP #2015election". I couldn't find any information on her:(

BAM SHASHAM! My number is even so I get to talk about the conservative and NDP candidates yay! First we have John Aldag (Liberal)! John Aldag is pretty cool. He has lived in six provinces and two territories because of is career in parks Canada. He and the other Liberal candidates want to help middle class people and cancel the increase of TFSA's because it only helps the rich people. They also have many other things they want to do that will help Canada. Secondly, we have Rebecca Smith (NDP)! Rebecca Smith is a successful small business owner and management professional who is ready to help families in Cloverdale-langley city. Another cool thing about her is that she is also a founding member and past president of BullyFree BC. To end, both these candidates sound pretty cool and I would vote for ether party. But, based on the facts I have told you, who would you vote for?

I am a odd number, so the parties I am going to be talking about are the Conservatives and Green parties. Firstly, the candidate that is in cloverdale is Dean Drysdale. Dean has always been interested in politics and the positive difference government can make in people’s lives. In other words he wants a good separation that the government can develope for people. Secondly, Scott Anderson from the Green Party in cloverdale has been interested about the construction industry, he has implemented several simple but effective practices to reduce his company's carbon footprint.

My number is even and I read about John Aldag (Liberal). He was born in Saskatchewan and has lived in six provinces and two territories thanks to his 31-year career with Parks Canada. He has enjoyed working to ensure the integrity of natural and cultural resources across Canada’s national parks, national historic sites, and marine conservation areas. I also read about Rebecca Smith (NDP). I couldn't find any information about her on the website so I googled her and this is what I found. Rebecca Smith is the owner of Valshiva Consulting, which works with corporate and non-profit clients. She is also a former executive director of the B.C. Psychological Association and a founder and past president of BullyFree BC.
