Today, 'HAWK-EYE' paid us a visit at Laurier to give a presentation on our upcoming camping trip to Camp Latona on Gambier island. He showed us a slideshow of the camp and different activities that you will be participating in. This was followed by Mr. Fisher's presentation of last year's trip. We know you are all excited about the trip and are looking forward to the outdoor education you will experience in a few week's time.

FIELD TRIP: Return your medical information form if you haven't already done so.
1.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Everyone has made some progress on their presentations. Work hard over the weekend to complete as much of your presentations/projects as possible.
On Monday, we will get into small groups and you will give small 'TED TALKS' on your projects.
You will need to speak in front of a group of 4-5 students and be able to clearly explain the similarities and differences between each of your belief systems. They will give you feedback and you will use it to practice for your final presentations.
Presentations start on Wednesday and end on Friday
Your research is expected to be basically finished at this point.

2.) POST A RESPONSE:

Watch this video on an 'Introduction to Judaism'.
Based on this video, write a paragraph about Judaism. (hook, supporting sentences, and conclusion)
Make sure you explain using evidence/support from the video.
Your paragraph should be able to clearly explain what Judaism is to someone who knows nothing about it.
PAR POLICE: Cassandra, Shermaine, Kevin W., Vivian, Ethan, and Emily Z. will give feedback to 5 students each about their posts. Please give them feedback based on the givens (spelling, grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, etc).

Do you know the history of Judaism? Judaism is an ancient religion of the Jewish people started 3,000 years ago. Although there are about 14 million Jewish people but the impact of Judaism is huge. There are four different school of thought including Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionists. Tanakh is the covenant that the Jewish people have with God, which is like the Ten Commandments that set the rules and responsibilities. Circumcision of male children and Mitzvah are some of the traditions of Judaism. In conclusion, it is dynamic religion because interpretation of texts changes over time.

- after 'people', add 'which'
- for the 2nd sentence, get rid of 'although' and add a comma after 'people' or get rid of 'but' and add a comma after 'people'

Judaism is one of the oldest monotheistic religions and was founded over 3500 years ago in the Middle East. Jews believe that God appointed the Jews to be his chosen people in order to set an example of holiness and ethical behaviour to the world. Some of the holidays are Shabbat—The Sabbath, Rosh Chodesh—The New Month, Rosh Hashanah—The Jewish New Year, Selichot, Rosh Hashanah, Tzom Gedalia—Fast of Gedalia, Yom Kippur—Day of Atonement, Sukkot—Feast of Booths (or Tabernacles), Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, Hanukkah—Festival of Lights.

Which was the oldest religion in the world? I wonder.. Actually it is Judaism. Judaism is one of the oldest monotheistic religions and was founded over 3500 years ago in the Middle East. Jews believe that God appointed the Jews to be his chosen people in order to set an example of holiness and ethical behaviour to the world. Some of the holidays are Shabbat—The Sabbath, Rosh Chodesh—The New Month, Rosh Hashanah—The Jewish New Year, Selichot, Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah—Festival of Lights. In conclusion I feel like Judaism is the most unique religion since it was found over 3500 years ago and has changed a lot overtime.

Judaism is an ancient religion that started about 3000 years ago. There are over 14 million followers called Jews. Jews also have to follow the Ten Commandments like Christians. Traditions include circumcision of male children, and also life rituals such as Bar mitzvahs and Bat mitzvahs at which a boy or girl is regarded ready to observe precepts and eligible to take part in a worship when they have reached the age of 13 for a boy and 12 and 1 day for a girl. Even though the sacred texts never change, the interpretation does, based on time, place, and the interpreter. So in that way, Judaism is a very dynamic religion that also changes over time.

Did you know that Judaism is about 3000 years old? It is one of the oldest religions in the world. Although Judaism is a rather small religion with about fourteen million followers, it has made a large impact on the world. Jews consider themselves as Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or Reconstructionists. Even when Jews are separated into these four groups, there is still a great deal of diversity and opinions. Jews have a sacred text, like many other religions. They call it the Tanakh. They put great evidence on the Torah, which is the first part of the Tanakh. Both Christianity and Islam originated from Judaism. Therefore, Jews worship the same God as Christians and Muslims. The Tanakh has a set of rules in it from a covenant with God and Jews. There are many laws that are based from that covenant. Some common traditions the Jews perform are: circumcision of male children, life rituals, and Bar Mitzvahs or Bat Mitzvahs. Bat Mitzvahs signify the coming to age of children as they become adults. In Judaism, there is a lot of interpretation and debate. Therefore, the interpretation of the Tanakh changes depending on the person. Judaism is a very old and important religion that has influenced the world in many ways.

Judaism is quite an old religion. In fact, it's one of the oldest being 3,000 years old. Despite the fact that it's so old, it has a pretty small following compared to religions like Christianity with just over 14 million followers around the world. Jews usually identify as either being Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or Reconstructionists. Even though they are all a part of Judaism, they still have some different ideas and opinions. Like many religions, Jews read scripture. This scripture is called the Tanakh (or the Hebrew Bible). They put a lot of emphasis on the first part of the Tanakh which is the Torah. There are some similarities between Judaism and other religions. For example, believe it or not, Jews actually worship the same god that Muslims and Christians worship. Another similarity is that like Christians, Jews follow The Ten Commandments. Jews get a lot of their laws and life rituals from a covenant as well. Some laws and rituals are the circumcision of male children, Bar Mitzvahs, and Bat Mitzvahs. These things identify a boy or a girl coming of age into adulthood. Even though the sacred texts don't change, over time the interpretation of them does. So yeah, that's a little bit about Judaism.

- The 1st sentence seems kinds odd... Maybe change it to "*first part of sentence* seem like a small *rest of sentence*"
- In the 5th sentence, you added a bracket but you didn't add the other one

When will 14 million people ever be considered as a small amount? Well, a possible answer would be when it's compared to numbers that are much larger. Although Judaism is considered a "smaller religion" it has definitely come a long way. Jews consider themselves as one of four main different groups of thought: Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or Recinstructionists. In these four groups, there are still many different beliefs or opinions that vary amongst people. Jews consider the Hebrew Bible as the holiest text. It tells about the same God that Christians and Muslims worship. In the Hebrew Bible, there are Ten Commandments that provide them with a basic foundation and structure for life. After around 3000 years, Judaism sure has developed and changed a lot. I'm sure it will continue to get better and better.

Judaism. Not everyone knows that this is the religion of the Jews, but I'm sure by this point that there is no-one left in the class who doesn't- partucularily those who are doing their socials project on it. Judaism originated in Israel, then known as ancient Canaan, in the 1st century. Jews were, according to many people, the first to have a moral code, and they began spreading this to the rest of the world. Unfortunatly not everyone wanted peace and respect for life and other people. A classic example is Hitler. A.K.A the real life Voldemort. So we shall not speak of him.
The Jews live by 613 commandments, unlike the 10 of chritianity. They belive in only one god. They belive that they are his chosen people and they must teach the rest of the world in his ways.
Doesn't sound like the type of religion that would really have a ton of myths, right? Wrong! Vampires, Golems, Giants, you name it, Jewish mythology has it. It's really intresting to read all of the stories. Not the kind of stuff you would want to read before camp, that's for sure!

Judaism. Do you know what is Judaism? Do you know anything about it? Now, let me tell you more about it, and I think you should come up with a lot of questions about it. Do you know that Judaism is the fifth of the largest religion in the world, which it have around 17 millions followers. Also, Judaism began about 4000 years ago, so that it is one of the oldest religion in the world too, don't you think it is surprising? Let me tell you more. Jews believe that there is only one God and they believe that the God not only created the universe. Jewish people believe in the Torah, which was the whole of the laws given to the Israelities at Sinai. They believe they must follow God's laws which govern daily life. They believe that the God is always working in the world, and also like helping everything that people do. Let talk about what are their practices. Judaism is a set of practices, it’s called a Way of Life. They do it because it make them connects more consciously to God. They will do prayer to build the relationship between God and human beings. They usually do prayer three times a day, morning, afternoon and the evening. There are three different sorts of prayer and they also do these prayers when they want to. The prayers include thanksgiving, prayers of praise, and prayers that ask for things. Now, do you know more information about Judaism. Do you have any questions about it, or do you have any friends or family that are Jews. If you want to know more, feel free to ask them for more interesting things about Judaism.

- You and Emily. W have "Judaism." as your starter point, try to change it into something different
- In your fourth sentence, you don't need to add "of the"
- Fifth sentence should be "oldest religions"
- Around middle of your tenth sentence I think it should say "also likes"
- Start of eleventh sentence should be "Let's" because it's more than one person
- Following sentence there's no need for the s in "connects"
- There should be a question mark in your seventeenth sentence
- Following sentence also should have a question mark

Judaism is the religion of the Jewish people. It's considered by religious Jews to be the expression of the covenant that God established with the Children of Israel. The main teachings of Judaism about God are that there is a God and there is only one God. Only God created the universe and only He controls it. Judaism also teaches that God is spiritual and not physical. Jews believe that God is one, he is one, whole, complete being. I didn't do research on Judaism a lot but I hope it helped!

In this world, there are many religions. And each of them is important to people. For example, Judaism is more crucial to Jewish people. It is the 5th largest religion with 17 million followers. As said in the video, people in the Judaism religion believe that they only believe in one god. And that one god creates the world. There are 4 main groups of thought in Judaism. Otheodox, conservative, reform, and reconstructionists. Even though they are slightly different, they all read the same bible, and worship the same god as the others do. Since I am rushing this, I’ll end it right here. Judaism is quite the amazing religion, by the way.

With origins that go way back to over 3500 years ago, Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion known to man. Monotheistic means that Jews only believe in one God. There are 4 categories of Judaism: Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionists. Although someone could be either of these four groups, they share the same core beliefs and morals. These morals and commandments all come from their holy book: the Torah. There are 613 commandments stated in the Torah but the most accepted summarised version would be Maimonids' 13 principles of faith. Although Judaism is one of the oldest, it only has around 17 million followers. Some practices of the Jewish faith would be going to Temple/shul/synagogue on Saturdays or wearing the traditional yarmulke. Judaism is a very interesting religion and one with lots of history.

Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist. Even though you may been in the different groups, they all share the same beliefs and morals. Overall, Judaism is a great religion.

Can you believe that Judaism is still alive? I mean, it is a 3000 year old religion. Even though there’s only 14 million followers, Judaism impacted world civilization significantly. Judaism have four departments of thought which each have enormous diversity of thought. The departments is Otheodox, Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionists. Although they have different opinions, they all read the same thing and worship the same god. Jews read a bible. But it’s not the Holy Bible, their bible is called the Hebrew Bible (also known as the Tanakh). Jews happen to worship the same god as Christians and Muslims. That means they have to follow the Ten Commandments like Christians. Judaism is also a very interesting religion. It’s amazing how far it has came.
