Today, we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day by reading 'FREE AT LAST' - The story of Martin Luther King, Jr.. We learned about who he was and the struggles that he encountered as a minority in America during a time where there was much racism and discrimination. We learned that he was the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his social activism using peaceful methods. It is important to know his story so we can fully understand the struggles he faced.

IMPORTANT:

In paragraph format, write about what you think Martin Luther King Jr. has done for humankind?
Think about what he has done for the African Americans in the USA. Think about what he has done for all visible minorities in the USA. Think about how his actions caused global change.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. The time is always right to do what is right. - Martin Luther King Jr. Back then, people didn't have the same rights as you and I. People were in segregation just for their colour. Martin saw this as injustice, and went to stop it, getting harmed along the way. He needed lots of support, and JFK did, according to the book we read today in class. Another fact is, people were so against black lives matter, that one of them shot him. He did a lot of things for this world that no one else has done, he made America a better place, and we thank him for that.

Racism is a big problem all over the world, but it was even bigger in the past. There were white-only restaurants, libraries, and even bathrooms. Many African-American people were not happy with this, and one of those people was Martin Luther King Junior. Martin didn't like being, for example, forced off a bus for a white person, as a child. He started organizing peaceful protests, inspired by Gandhi. People beat the protestors, but they did not fight back. Martin and his people won battle after battle, fighting for black peoples' rights in America. He was an extremely important figure in American history, and around the world. Without him, the Black Lives Matter protests would probably not have happened, and would not still be happening. Without him, there might still be a lot of segregation in America. Sadly, he was assassinated by a white supremacist. he is still remembered today as one of the most influential black peoples' rights activists in history.

I had no idea who Martin Luther King Jr. Is until today or last year. Injustice is a thing that threatens and gets rid of justice, Lightness cannot live without darkness. I was tired Because I am STILL not used to wake up early, but I heard The speech I have a Dream now I had a Dream. The Assassination of John F Cannedy, later then Martin because of people Being against Black People. Now without them BLM would just not exist and neither will their rights today.

It is because Martin Luther King Jr. and his friends protested to give equal rights to black people as to white people. These protests had been a success and some of the best quotes were "The time is always right to do what is right" and "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Even when one of the biggest supporters, John F. Racism has always been a huge problem around the world. Few people have tried to make a difference in solving this issue. There were many places that black people couldn’t go to and priority was always given to white people. For example, if a black person was sitting on a bus seat and white people come, the driver may ask the African-American to stand up for the white person to sit. Many people didn’t like that, including Martin Luther King Jr. He decided that he would take the issue into his own hands and change the way black people were treated. Martin started to organize peaceful protests and wouldn’t tell his followers to fight back even when they are abused, for he hates violence. He began to travel from state to state and organizing peaceful protests that made a huge impact on removing injustice and discrimination. Martin’s influence quickly gained the attention of the current president — JFK. John F. Kennedy started to support him and he delivered his most famous speech. Martin Luther King Jr continued to organize protests which made him among the most impactful people in American history. However, JFK was assassinated and many violence based protesting groups started to grow. This ultimately lead to his assassination years later. Even when chances of true equality seemed impossible, he still continued to influence people and make a change. I believe that this attitude and determination is the reason he was able to make such a big change. We will forever remember him and be inspired by his actions.

What was life in America back then? Did black people get equal rights and treated the way that the white people did? Well they were treated badly and didn't have equal rights until Martin Luther king Jr. named after his father, was a black boy in America that soon became a famous black man that protested for black peoples rights and wanted to unite the white people and black people together to make peace between the two races. His famous quotes he said were "The time is right to do what's right" and the other was "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can" he protested once and over a quarter million people came to support him and watch as he said a really powerful speech that lots of people were amazed by how strong and passionate he spoke about uniting the white and black people together. President John F. Kennedy supported him and made a law that stated that black people have the same rights as white people do. When he heard that John F. Kennedy was assassinated his death was really horrible, many people attend his funeral and mourned his death and the law he made went with him. Martin Luther King Jr. died when he was 35 when he came back with friends from a restaurant and was killed by a white person who was in a motel balcony right near where Martin stayed and he was shoot with a rifle, then soon died while being transported to a hospital. Many people attended Martin's funeral and it was a tragedy when he died. The BLM movement wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Martin Luther King Jr. who inspired black people to stand up to racism, racism is still a big issue in America and other countries, it will stay here if no one has the courage to stand up to it like Martin did.

In my perspective, Martin Luther King Jr. did what he thought was right and won many of his fights which continued to help throughout the years. For example, when Martin Luther King Jr. was younger, he participated in a competition in speech and won. Though when he was feeling happy and got onto a bus for his ride home, he was demanded to stand up and allow a white citizen to sit as it applied to a rule saying whites-first. This upset him and he decided to protest along with others and in the end, was able to erase the rule allowing them to sit freely. To summarize, Martin Luther King Jr. is correct. Though many people may disagree, I agree. After all, racism has taken us aback for many years. To be free from this injustice, we must all act together for equality. Not everyone may be fond of this idea but coming together and stopping racism and allowing others to realize the better of being colourblind to humans is imperative.

Martin Luther King, a brave man who defended black people in America. Why do you think there is no racism when you walk down the street, why do you think that black and white people are not separated? It is because of Martin Luther King, the leader of the Civil Rights Movement from 1955-1968. Martin Luther King has changed the view of black people to many other races during his time. At first, he did not get his word out, but he kept trying and finally, he changed something. Not just something, he changed humanity. Though it may sound like he does not know what it feels to be in a position where white people are more respected than black people, it is not true. He had to be forced to let a white person enjoy luxury even though he 100% should have gotten it. Without him, black people would still be treated worse than white people. Even though this still happens in the world, it does not happen as much as before Martin Luther King acted. His most famous speech was called “I have a dream.” The key message of the story was that all people are created equally. Marti Luther King was such a brave man. To stand as leader in the Civil rights movement, knowing he could go to jail and that police could hurt him. To illustrate, even though he got in jail, when he got out, he did not stop protesting. He did what was right at the right time, something that no other man could do.

Racism is a huge problem around the world and it cant be avoided. Especially in the US discrimination was quite popular before, there were white restaurants only, movies sectioned so white people were separated from the black people and black people were only allowed to sit at the back of buses. Martin Luther King Jr. didn't like this and wanted to see a change. Martin Luther King Jr. was an activist that became the most visible spokesperson and leader in civil rights movements. He would organize peaceful protests and eventually was recognized by John F. Kennedy whom supported Martin. I think Martin King Luther Jr. had a lot to risk because protesting about something many people were against could get him and his family in danger. His most famous work is the "I have a dream" speech delivered in 1963 where he talked about racism and segregation. A few of his famous quotes are "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.", "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can." and "The time is always right to do what is right.". In conclusion Martin Luther King Jr. left a huge impact and many people are still moved by him. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who spoke up about equality for all. He spoke about how everyone is equal and all races are important. He made it so African Americans had rules that white people also had. Without Martin, black people wouldn't have rights like white people did. His "I have a dream" statement was very obvious of what he wanted. He wanted for all black people to have just as many rights as the whites. This coraspawns to all races too. Without him people wouldn't have as many rights and that would suck. I think without him white people would be the most powerful, they would think of us as weak. So that's why he's a very important person in history.

Today, Mr. Hong read the book about Martin Luther King Jr. Many years ago, great American sign an emancipation proclamation. But negro is still live in some island by very poverty. So he did an announcement. Martin Luther King Jr announced whites and negro are equal. They don’t have any different with us. We can’t have any racial discrimination to them. They are also human. So they should not live a different life from ours. I think Martin Luther King Jr is very great and kindful. Negro don’t need to live in the poverty island and endure our racial discrimination now. Having to be separated from other people could be really heartful because you might think that you don't belong there anymore. Well, a brave man called Martin Luther King junior. He was a normal African American living in America. Back then, Black people where always a lower level if compared to white people. People started to get frustrated because this have been happening for a long time. Imagine being a black person back then, you wouldn't able to sit at the front seat of the cinema or if a there is only one seat left on the bus, you must let another white person to sit in before you. Thankfully, Martin Luther King junior started multiple peaceful protest all around America. People started recognizing how much he did to all the black people living there. Afterwards, Martin Luther King junior became a global role model! I think that Martin Luther King junior is a very kind hearted, brave and wise man because back then, black people would get arrested by doing little things.

Needless to say racism is not one of the major problems in Canada, since most Canadian citizens are kind to one another. It may have been different in the past but how did racism Martin Luther king Jr. effect racism globally? I think that since martin lived in America and the America was and is one of the main global super powers, so him making a difference in such a powerful and known country will influence lots of other countries and state. So Martin did make an impact on racism and helped humans for the better.

By starting a campaign is a huge risk, why? Because at that point people were really racist to black people and i dont know why, i guess its ok because people can have their own opinions even if its a racist one. Another thing i find weird is: why do americans near the south are more aggressive against coloured people? I watched a movie a few months ago and it was about racism, a very talented pianoist was black, even tho people asked him all around America to play for them, he wasn't allowed to use actual washrooms and eat in the restarunts he had to go to the servants ones and eat in the closet. But what Martin Luther King Jr. did was worth it, he might;ve died at a young age. But his actions affected all of us in different ways.

Judging people unequally because of race and skin color occurred until a man who decided to stand up for his race. That man was named Martin Luther King Junior, he had a happy upbringing not knowing much about racism but he realized how truly unfair it is when he experienced it himself. The man decided to do a citywide bus boycott to support Rosa Parks because of her strong willed move that motivated him. He endorsed non violent protest because of Gandhi an individual who solved racist problems with the British peacefully. King lead many marches that did not involve any violence which helped free many laws having to do with racism. King then years later after he started dedicating to stop racism had a speech called "I Have a Dream". That speech became what he is known for, and a quarter of a million people showed up. Unfortunately, in 1968 he was assassinated by James Earl Ray, but even though he's dead, he had still made a mark in history and decreased racism.

Racism is embedded in the roots of our society. Over time, we can erase it. But this will only happen over a span of a hundred or so years. Many people have stood up against racism. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. organized and spoke at peaceful rallies. He did not support violence. He thought that violence was horrible, and that there are better ways to solve our problems. To illustrate, black people were treated violently. Violence does not solve violence. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that" - Martin Luther King Jr. He knew that if they kept on pushing, they would eventually be able to convince the government to do something about segregation and abuse. I think that it is tragic that he died at the age of 39 years old, and never got to see the world positively respond to BLM. If he had not been assassinated, he might have seen an African American man become president. WE have to continue what Martin Luther King started. WE have to work towards ending racism. WE have to teach the people younger than us that everyone is equal. It's up to us to keep people in the future safe.

On August 28, 1963, at Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C, Martin Luther King Jr said to his 250,000 supporters, "I have a dream". Racism has been on this earth for more than a hundred years. Martin Luther King was the one who changed laws by peacefully protesting for the rights of his color, at the age of 35 he won the Nobel peace prize. He dedicated his Nobel Peace Prize to the civil rights movement. He changed America with avoiding violence. I think that Martin Luther King was a man who brought awareness to this world about rights of color. But this issue is still a problem in today's society, we are the generation to his dream.

Martin Luther King Jr was an incredible person that promoted civil rights at a time when oppression against people of colour was prominent. He has done so much for humanity and has become an icon for civil rights. His most note worthy achievement is being a figure head for social equality and justice. His words of inspiration and his dream has inspierd many to this day. Another great thing he did was being a major peaceful protester that has shown others that there can be a peaceful solution as apposed to a violent one.

Martin Luther King Jr was someone who dedicated his life to stop racism. He made so many peaceful protests so that black people could have more rights, he got arrested a lot of times but he never gave up. He changed the entire world’s perspective of racism. If it wasn’t for him, everything could have been how it was before. In short, Martin Luther King Jr was a very brave person who spent all his life fighting for equal rights.

“Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last.” Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the biggest American activists and leader in the civil rights movement, fighting against racism and discrimination for peace and reconciliation. His involvement in the movement began during the bus boycotts of 1955. Without him, justice for black lives wouldn’t be here today. It is no denying that this constant racism towards black lives have been going on for centuries and still continuing. He has done many great things for the people of his own colour and his actions will remain unforgotten in our hearts. To me, the ‘I have a dream’ speech by Martin Luther King Jr. (which was delivered in 1963) was very inspirational and I can see how determined and bold he is. I have a lot of respect towards him not only because of what he’s done, but also how he’s achieved it. Unlike many, Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his peaceful leadership and ways of rioting and getting others to see his perspectives, he worked to achieve racial justice through nonviolent action. Overall, I completely agree with Martin Luther King Jr. and I wholeheartedly respect his actions and what he has done to prevent racism and injustice. Although he does not live with us to this day, we shall remember his name and appreciate the sacrifices he has made for the better of this world.
