@Everyone, hello! How was school today? Did you guys do something fun or interesting? I hope you didnt because, I missed school today since I had to go to the Langley Memorial Hospital. Why you may ask? Well yesterday I had my last LUSA soccer game and it didnt go so well. Instead, I had many migraines, head aches, fevers, neck pain, dizziness, and I had no strength right after the corner kick. This happened, when I headed to ball when it was going full speed really hard which took me of my feet which then made me forget some memory and a head injury ;-( This means, that I cant run nor play any sports like soccer in the next 2 months. Infact, I only remember my dad calling 9-1-1 to take me to the hospital quick. After staying in the hospital for almost 8 hours today the doctor said that I had a big concussion. With this in mind, they told me that I might have to do a CAT scan to see how damaged or swollen is my head is and my brain. However, I am still at the hospital on the bed with needles in my arms. I just wanted to know how was school today?

That sucks for you right when summer break is about to start you can't play any sport for 2 months. That's like all of summer break. -_-. I hope you feel better.

@Xbox man, thank you for that note, it made me realize that even though I wont be able to run or play sports for 2 months I know that I still can have the strength in me. And dont worry, Ill probably going be going to watch many summer 2015 sports in the toronto staduim. I also saw you walking with your friend on Sunday with a McDonalds drink! Once again, thank you ;-)

@LUYSA Soccor Player #10, hopefully you'd be ready for school the next day of school! (Yaaay? If you're excited or not.) ) I don't even understand how real soccer athletes even get used to such hard things like that. And how when they headbutt it, it goes halfway across the field almost.

I hope you feel better. That really sucks but I know you can get through it. Are you still going to the FIFA Women's World Cup Game tonight? Also, we have a fails trip on Wednesday so maybe you could fill out your notice and then give it to your brother so you can come! Anyways, hang in there. We all feel really bad.

@Pebbles, thank you for the ,"I hope you feel better" note it really made me happy because you are always there for me! And I might not go to the FIFA Womens World Cup 2015 Canada to the match US vs Nigeria ;-( however, I am still happy that I didnt faint. Also dont worry about giving it to my brother you guys should keep it because, honestly, you deserve it since you made me have a smile ;-) With this in mind, I already miss all of you, you guys are like my second family!

It didn't help because I didn't understand the point of it to be honest I thought it was dumb. It helped by making me go deeper and it helped me understand what I'm reading. It helped me answer my questions and understand words I couldn't by reading the whole sentence.

Term 1: It didn't help because I didn't understand the point of it to be honest I thought it was dumb.
Term 2: It helped by making me go deeper and it helped me understand what I'm reading.
Term 3: It helped me answer my questions and understand words I couldn't by reading the whole sentence.

Term 1, I honestly would rather not using the reading strategies because they kind of make me focus on doing them other than paying attention to what I am reading,they distract me. But I do thing they did help me figure the point of the story I would just rather do that after I finish reading the book. Term 2, I think that because they were so short it was easir to figure out he big idea of the poem or picture book but I also think that the picture books help us visualize when reading without pictures. Term 3, I think as we use the strategies one each part of the story it will help us figure out the main point of the story.

Term 1, I did not understand how to do some of the points at first but later on in the term I understood pretty much every thing after a while. Term 2 I helped me understand the big idea and what Technics authors use in the book. Term 3 I could see what the big idea is and what the authors message to the world was. also how the authour has used his Technics

In term one, learning those strategies helped me read and understand books better rather than leaving something that I do not know. I also learned how to incorporate them into my learning and reading. In term 2, I learned how to put these skills I used to the test and actually did some reading and novel approach. It was sort of like hands on what you are learning. Now in term 3, it is much easier for me to read a book and figure out what it is about and how to deepen my understanding and wonder about stuff like thinking and learning question. As well I learned how author's do special things to make you think deeper.

They helped me and did not leave me thinking of something I don't know.

I learned how to use the skills for my own reading at home.

I learned that If you think about something even the smallest thing on the page you can turn it into deeper thinking.

In term one they helped us by improving comperihension and helping us get a good idea of what the main idea is. They also Help us find the meaning Of words. Because they where easy to understand,make connections with, and find the big idea of and were good practice of the reading stratigies. Because we can find what we need to know about the books big idea and connect to deepen our understanding of the story/charachters.

@CloudBarston good job, some of the things yoi said are kind of similar to what I said in my response. There are just a few things you need to notice. We usually do not like to start out sentences with because, and there are some letters that should not be capitalized. But you did a good job.

Term 1 The reading strategies helped me to use my background knowledge, my reading for comprehension and make inferences.

Term 2 It helped me make my powerful responses by making connections to the articles and using my background knowledge.

Term 3 Making inferences has help me figure out what is going to happen next.

When I read before I learned about the strategies, I used them, but I didn't know I used them. But when I learned about them, I was easy to tell when I was using a strategy. Learning about them helped me read better and understand things that I didn't know. When reading things like story books and short stories, you learn how to go deeper into what you're reading and go beyond the text. Reading strategies like making connections, making visualizations, and synthesizing and evaluating make it easier to understand situations in books because you can picture what is going on.

Term 1 -
I think it makes you think more about what you read and the true meaning behind story's. For example we went through children books and we pulled out super deep things like connections and big ideas all while using background knowledge.

Term 2 -
In term two his helped me respond to all of my thoughts about story's and poems by writing them down in a neat presentable way.

Term 3 -
I think it has helped me deepen my understanding because it makes me think more about the story and not just about reading the book.

When I first learned about the reading strategys I wasn't really paying attention. But, then when I started learning more about the strategys I realized that I use them all the time. If I don't understand something, if I can make a connection, or if I'm making an guess based on what I know.

Later on, while reading short articles, poems, and picture books it deepen my understanding because of when I practised writing my visible thinking down, and made connections. It helped me understand more about how the character is feeling and thinking.

With the novels it is quite similar but it's just a little bit longer compared to the short stories and poems. My knowledge of reading strategies helped me deepen my understanding of my novels when I am picturing it in my mind and also making inferences on what I am reading.

Term 1 - Reading strategies really helped me out for keeping an eye out for things to spot that are very powerful and mean something to the book. But whenever you miss these words, re-reading always pops it right in front of your eyes telling you that you forgot this word while you were reading. So next time you start reading, try using our reading strategies.

Term 2 - While reading different sorts of books like novels, graphic novels, picture books and all those other books, those books started helping my understanding of how to make a powerful response/helped develop my reading strategies because I was still lacking the full requirement of succeeding what is expected to show your critical thinking. And as I kept reading different sorts of books more and more times over and over again, it really helped me even more. This is because you're starting to get a better feel/understanding of how to use these reading strategies.

Term 3 - From all the things we've done to help increase our understanding of what reading strategies are, these helped us deepen our reading strategies just from using them over and over again to help us understand them more. If we just used them once and never used them again, how should we know how to use them properly? As a matter of fact, how would we use them? That's why it's a good thing to practice more and more with things like instruments.

Term 1: I don't like the reading strategies because I find they don't help you really understand the book. To be honest when we did are visible thinking I lied a lot because I felt pressured to add all these strategies into my visble think not my real thoughts.

Term 2: Again I find the strategies don't help me deepen my understanding because I'm thinking about adding in the strategies not reading and understanding the passages.

Term 3: To be honest I didn't use my strategies on my novel and my sticky notes were only my gift of words because I couldn't read the novel and think about my strategies at the same time.

Term 1.)
Why do we have to use these strategies? Will this help us read better? Or it will make us drive into the book for a deeper meaning or understanding? Well firstly, I personally think that reading strategies such as, making connections, setting a purpose , asking questions, and/ or using background knowledge to get the big idea helps us be aware of these strategies when we read. How you may ask? Well to start, it helps us be aware of these strategies when we read because, we can easily connect on whats going on, it helps us get the big idea, and we can easily think deeper by using these strategies.

Term 2.)
Secondly, how did reading short articles, poems and picture books deepen your understanding and help develop your reading strategies you may ask? Well as an introduction, reading short articles, poems, and picture books helps us deepen our understanding because, we can easily find powerful, or strange looking gift of words that we never saw in our life that could help since, we will then know what that specific word means which can lead us to think deeper on what the book is about.

Term 3.)
Lastly, how has your knowledge of reading strategies helped you deepen your understanding of your novels? Well, to start, my knowledge of reading strategies helped me deepen my understanding of my novels because, since we had come to the highest level from the beginning it helped me so much because we practiced a lot and we had many chances to write responses on our books so that we can put all of our meaningful thoughts and/ or ideas. Above all, that is how reading strategies helped me. How did it help you?

Term 1: It helped me find a deeper message and find connections within the book whether it'd be about the world or myself. They also help me understand what the big idea is about.

Term 2: It deepened my understanding for novels because it was short and simple but you could easily find the big idea and deepen it.

Term 3: It helped me by understanding the little chapters first and then once I understood each chapter, I would piece it together. Then once I pieced it together, I would find the big idea then further find my clues in those chapters and try to deepen it.

Term One: They really helped me be more aware because I actually did not know all of them before so having them there was really useful because I had just learned what they were and there was a lot of them and sometimes I would forget. They also helped me because using these strategies when I read helps me understand my book even more.

Term Two: They helped deepen my understanding because we did the powerful response or the booklets and we actually had to dig deep and know, whenever I read I book I always dig deep. They helped us learn our strategies because we got to practice them when reading these poems or books.

Term Three: It has helped me deepen my understanding because I now know what I have to do and I know all the strategies and use them without even noticing so when I read a novel it just comes naturally and it helps deepen my understanding because of the stratigies.

Term 1: well after I found out what inferencing is I started to use it more often.
Term 2: it helped me find out what the big was going to be.

In term one I was learning how to use learning strategies for the first time and was a bit slow at it but I feel like through the term I improved lots.

In term two we were doing work that was slightly harder in order to add room for improvement and for us to learn more which I think I did.

In term three we used all the things we learned to make us have deeper thoughts and I feel we achieved that although there is still a bit more to do since the school year is not yet over.
