Planning their designs

Today, students continued working on their design planning for their mosaic tile art. Students used their drafts to place various tiles in specific places on their wooden mirrors. They will use this plan to stick the tiles to their mirrors tomorrow. Many students made adjustments to their designs based on the available tiles, sizes, and colours. Mr. Fisher and I will model how to 'TILE' tomorrow. We will place importance on the space between the tiles and leaving space around the borders of the mirror and the outer edge of the wooden frame.

Last week we gotta design and make our very own tile art. Today we painted and placed our tiles into our mirror.The thing I was pretty good at, was making a nice design for my mosaic but from my draft it changed a lot. Something I had trouble with, was getting the tiles off the paper and it made my hands hurt a little bit when I got all my tiles.Tomorrow I’m going to work on making space on some of my, tiles since I’m supposed to a little space between the tiles.
This is my favourite art project we ever did (other than the collages) it’s fun and you get to break tiles to get a certain shape.

Last week we planned our tile art mosaics with mirrors we got from IKEA, it took awhile for us to actually start placing tiles on the mirrors but the wait was worth and we finally got to place the tiles onto our mirrors but today, I had one challenging experience I guess and something I found easy.
My challenge was that some of the tiles were hard to pull off and some of the tiles were kinds sharp like the stone tiles we had, but that was all I found challenging other than figuring out how to make a mosaic that wasn’t too complicated, but other than that I had no trouble at all.
The only thing I found easy to do was making a design that was more simple and finding tiles that would fit with the style I was going for, but my actually mosaic looked much better than my draft and I think it also had to do with the fact that looking at the tiles we had gave me more ideas than when I was making my draft.
Something that I would be working on tomorrow is trying to make space between all my tiles, since in order to stick my tiles into it I had to make space, I also should be working on using less tiles since I used a lot of tiles which was kinda unnecessary to me.
In conclusion tile art is a cool project to do because you learn how to tile and that you get to smash tiles with a hammer, which I haven’t done yet because I'm done with my tile art, but I'm assuming It should be fun.

Have you heard of Mosaic tiling? It is very popular in many areas. I am creating a Mosaic tile art, but some things are challenging and need fixing and others are easy.

First of all, Mosaic tiling is a type of art. You crush up tiles in to make random, broken pieces . with those broken, random pieces, you try to make images with the pieces. You have to use the same principles of regular tiling to glue on the broken pieces. It can turn out very nice if made correctly. It can be a gift or a decoration.

Next, I find it challenging to find the right pieces. I have a specific pattern I want to follow, but its hard since the pieces don't exactly fit in the shape you want them to. Sometimes it gets frustrating that you can't make the right shape. Although, tomorrow I will try to ignore the fact that the tiles can not fit in to the exact shape I want them to. My tolerance level for imperfection will rise a little.

Lastly, I found it easy to improvise. Some shapes in my tile draft doesn't exist right now. I will most definingly have to improvise. It is really not that hard to think while you do it. You can always take off the tiles and redo the order since I am not gluing all the tiles on. I can just play around with the shapes until I get a pattern that looks like the pattern in my draft, or play around until it looks good.

In conclusion, mosaic tile art is fun, because you can improvise and make unique patterns, but sometimes the pattern won't live up to your expectation. Its okay though because its not like your life depends on making a good mosaic tile art.

Secondly I found that ripping some of the tiles off was really challenging. This isn't really a challenge about the placement of the tiles, but I couldn't think of any other challenges. The hardest tile to rip off were the fish scale looking ones. They were stuck on well, and you had to you a lot of strength to rip them off. The blue tiles were pretty easy. It ripped off nice and easy.
Tomorrow I will be really careful on spacing the tiles nicely, because you need to have spaces to put the grout? I'm do really sure, but that's my guess! The grout is used to strengthen the tiles, ( I think?) so it's an important part!
In conclusion, I think tile art is a great project! You get to experiment will loads of patterns and all tiles are so pretty! Thank you for planing this project, Mr.Hong and Mr.Fisher!

Have you ever done mosaic tile art? Well its where you assemble broken pieces of things (tiles, glass,etc) on things and it's a really fun project. You can create many things with tile art and make really unique and creative art.

Something easy during this project was making the draft cause when i had a general idea of what i was gonna do i knew what to add and what color it should be and how the patterns should be. It may be difficult at first when you can't think of a general idea but when you have that idea it gets easier for the rest of the draft and you can see the colors fitting in and what makes it look better and what makes it look worse.

Something difficult during this project was to copy your draft onto the real til and trying to copy the draft was hard since most things aren't the same size. I overcame this challenge by making my tiles on the big tile different than the draft and i edited it and deleted some parts since they wouldn't fit and i added new things to make it fit since i deleted some of the things on my draft. Tomorrow when we go smashing tiles i will make sure to not do anything dangerous with the hammers and hit anyone or myself and i wont throw the tiles and stuff.

In conclusion, mosaic tile art is a really fun form of art and you should try to do mosaic art sometime and it's a really fun type of art.

Today we started working on our tiles. when we where working on our tiles I changed my tile from what it looked liked on paper. I used a variety tiles the last thing I need to do for it is smash the tiles and put them on. Working on are tiles was super fun and I would like to do it again.

Have you ever done mosaic tile art? That's what my class doing right now!

I think the easiest part was finding the tiles. It took my family a long time but we found the right tile. The hardest part was probably designing the tile art but I got past that challenge by drawing what I thought looked cool. Tomorrow I will be careful when I cut my tile because I might hurt myself and I don`t want that to happen.

Mosaic tile art is fun to do but it sometimes challenging.

Last week we planned out our mosaic tile arts, and we currently just started assembling our tile arts into the positions we want them to. The fun thing about this type of art is, is that you can personalize it how ever you would like and be very creative.

An easy part about this project is planning the tile art out. You don't really know what your tile is going to look like at the end. Sometime your design might change during the process because maybe you couldn't make the shapes to easily like I did. You can basically make it look like how ever you would like and you will be very proud of it.

The harder part is smashing or choosing the right tiles to use, for example when you smash your tile, you don't really know what shape you are going to get which is kind of tricky. It can also be quite dangerous when smashing them because there are going to be sharp edges and plus, you are using a hammer. I didn't smash any tiles today, but actually putting our draft on to our final mirror tile, came out way different then I expected. I think I basically changed my whole design because it was hard for me to get a lot of triangle and that's basically what my whole draft was, triangles.

I have done a art project like this before and I am really enjoying it. It can be a little bit difficult but it does turn out to look really nice and cool. You will also build up your background knowledge and maybe you could tile up a whole room! Like Mr. Hong said.

The past few days, our class has been doing a mosaic tile art project, and it was not a pleasant start. The designing was hard, but I still somehow came up with one that's not to bad. That's when it got easy, the placing was easy, but I ran into another problem, I can't smash glass tiles, so now I have squares instead of smashed and broken tiles, great. However that means if I drop it on the floor, it will break, so I have to be careful. Anyways, I think the art project is a fun activity in general.

On the weekend, I visited the Killarney community centre and saw some tile art. This reminded me of the tile art that we started at school.

Recently, my class started a new ADST project. This was mosaic tile art. At first, I thought that it couldn’t be that hard, but I was wrong. It very hard trying to put the tiles together and making them fit together. The tiles were also very sharp so every now and then I would feel a prick on my finger. Something that I want to focus on tomorrow is putting my tiles together. I want to make sure that the tiles look organized and in a specific shape.

In conclusion, I underestimated this project and I think that it’ll be a very interesting and hard process to finish this project.

The rocks hurt your hand and the scales were super hard to pick off. Something that I will be very careful with tomorrow is to make sure I have lines between my tiles for the grout.

This is a really fun project, and I can't wait for tomorrow!

Something that I found easy was putting the tiles onto the mirror. It was really fun and oddly satisfying to put all the tiles in place. I had a hard time picking the tiles off the net. The rocks hurt your hand and the scales were super hard to pick off. Something that I will be very careful with tomorrow is to make sure I have lines between my tiles for the grout so my tiles are secured.

Have you ever seen mosaic tile art on the streets, or inside of buildings? Well, my class is learning how to create mosaic tile art creations, and I've gained a lot of experience from it already.

When starting this project, I thought it was going to be a piece of cake. Just break some tiles, avoid getting cut, place them, and boom. Unfortunately for me, I was terribly mistaken. The only "easy" part was designing the tile art, because I thought tiling would be easy and I could make whatever design I liked. For sure the most tedious part was finding good tiles that were somewhat the size I was looking for, then taking them off the mesh (which was usually a struggle), then handpicking the good sized pieces and finally placing them on desired area. After this exhausting process, I was left with a strange looking unfinished mosaic piece and hands which hurt every time I touched practically anything. Next time, I'll try to avoid cutting and hurting myself (volleyball was not fun by the way). I try to be less aggressive (because I was definitely way too aggressive) and work at a mellower pace.

Despite all of the issues, it was still fun nonetheless, and also great experience!

During my recent trip to Richmond's Terra Nova Park, I was surprised to find a mosaic tile art piece near the Pacific. It was a beautiful scene, the art had seemed to be very well planned out, there were bits and pieces here and there, but overall I thought I could use that idea/ information to my advantage to upgrade and improve my tile art design.

Recently our class decided to start a mosaic tile art, project. From what I know, this is considered part of our Art and Carrer education mark/assessment. At first, I thought this was going to be the first easy peasy art project ever, simply because it was just cutting and pasting, from the beginning to now, I think differently now, I think this has turned from easy looking to hands-on hard work. But I found the grabbing the tiles felt odd, and I was worried that it was a bunch of glue. What I found difficult was organizing the tiles.

In conclusion, I didn't think this project was going to be very hard, but in reality, it turned out to be the exact opposite of what I originally thought of.

tiles. so pretty. we are using tile art to express our creativity and ideas in the form of tiled mirrors. We have created designs on paper and will start to create the actual tiled mirrors tomorrow. 1 of the easy things about this project, is that my design was set from the beginning. i knew how i wanted my mirror to look and i decided that i needed a cool way to express it. i knew that i wanted to do something canucks themed because it represented me and who i am really well. i knew that the theme colours were blue white and green, and i wanted to put them together nicely somehow. i looked at their jerseys and the stripes on the arms are blue, white, green, white, blue, white, green, white. so i decided to do it in those orders. So that was quite easy to do. A challenge i had was the blue tiles. i need a lot of blue tiles and i needed to break them or get ceramic blue tiles to break because my mirror design requires a lot of blue tiles. we couldn't break the blue ones we had right now because their glass and we would get injured or stabbed by the glass because its sharp when we break it. One thing I'm going to be careful about tomorrow is when i place the tiles. if i stick the wrong piece of tile in the wrong place, i can do anything about it because its stuck to the mirror. also im know for messing something up always, so i hope and will try my best to not mess up this project :). i think that this project is time consuming, but in the end, it will be amazing and pretty, I am very excited to see the final outcome of our project because i think it is one of the coolest art projects i've ever done at school. Have you ever seen or created a mosaic? It is a very unique and beautiful form of art if done correctly. To start creating a breathtaking mosaic piece, it requires you to have tiles, tiles, more tiles, but more importantly, your own original creativity.

So this is what our class has been working on. We had planned a rough draft at the beginning and now we're placing and moving the tiles around to get a general picture. I'll admit, I had no idea what to expect from this, not knowing whether it'd be easy or hard, but from today I can see how challenging it is but how beautiful a mosaic could be once competed. Today was a great learning experience for me as I had never done tiling before, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow and I'll be more careful to space the tiles out!

we have recnetly started on our mosiac tile art project. The tile art project is basically a art project where you break tiles to make smaller tiles then stick them onto a wood plate with a mirror.
So what are the challenges? Well first of all its very hard to pick up tiles without leaving small bits of ceramic which will cut you.Its rather hard not to get injured by small ceramic/glass shards. I feel that i would also need to be careful breaking the tiles so that they stay a good shape and dont shatter everywhere.
How about something easy? Well the planning on paper was rather easy as it is literally just draing what i wanted to do. Of course it was quite different as i underestimated the size of the hexagone.
In conclusion tiles are a safety hazard and use of tiles in warfare should be classified the same as cluster bombs, chemical weapons and biological weapons as a war crime under the rules set out by the 1925 geneva protocol and the 2008 convention on cluster munitions. In fact there should be a global convention on tiles to get them banned in war fare or other uses in which a person maybe be seriously injured (I.e tile throwing championships). Punishment for use in these areas should be the execution of the officers responsible as well as any higher up command

For me, the easiest part was placing out all of the tiles. I had some sort of an idea on how I wanted my mirror to look like so it was pretty easy to place them out. But something that was a bit challenging was making do with whatever tiles that were provided. I had this idea and was fixated on only sticking to that design. I think that something that I should be careful of tomorrow is spacing out the tiles so that there is a nice grout line. Maybe I can take out some tiles to make some more room for the grout.

In conclusion, I think that this project has been really fun so far and it teaches you cool skills that you might use in the future!

But something that was a bit challenging was making do with whatever tiles that were provided. We did some mosaic tile art in class. It was really fun to do.

I think that making the plan for the tile art was the easiest part because I already had a general idea of what my tile art should look like.

I think that finding the tiles was pretty challenging because my mom and I couldn't find any tile shops that have coloured tiles.

I will be more careful today on taking tile off there sheets because yesterday I had tile shards in my hand.

In my opinion this type of art is pretty fun.

I made a design for our mosaic tile art. I learned that it’s pretty easy to design it but you might need to tweak it after because you might not find the right tiles for your design. Just remember, always keep trying.

I love art! In fact without art, earth would just be eh! (Get it?)
Anyways, my class and the other grade 7 class are working on an art project. It’s called mosaic tiling. We basically break tiles and put tiles on an ikea mirror and create a unique design.
I was set for this design that had the word love, and had broken tiles and square tiles around it in red, blue, black, gray and other colours. But we didn’t have all the colors so I just had to use what we had. Making a design was easy, but actually making it on the mirror was the hardest for me, my drawing on the mirror draft was so tiny everything fitted perfectly, but the actual mirror was big, but the tiles were also big. I wasn’t able to put some tiles to make it look how I intended to make it look. I also need to work on spacing the tiles evenly with balance so that there is room to put the grout. Right now, during the project I’m just trying not to get cut by the tiles and trying not to get injured but so far I got one injury. In conclusion, I personally love art and this project is fun. Have you ever seen on the internet or on the streets mosaic tile art well we created that!

When we first started I thought I could make whatever with as many little details as I wanted unfortunately I was wrong because it’s harder than it sounds. Once we had to get the tiles I realized that I had to change my design to make it work. I have to say my biggest problem was spacing out the tiles and making everything fit into one mirror, but I think that it payed off when I was placing tiles it looked better than when a was trying to cover up the whole mirror.

This project for art is really fun and I think if I had the chance I would do it again
