OIL PASTEL ART

Today, students learned how to use different materials and techniques to create unique artistic effects. Mr. Hong used a video and modelled step-by-step how to create a snowy night with pastels. Afterwards, students were able to use the iPads and the YouTube video to follow the step-by-step instructions on how to create the art piece. It is amazing how every student was able to follow the criteria outlined on the handout and video to create something special! WAY TO GO EVERYONE! Creating art with oil pastels can either be the easiest or hardest artwork you've ever made. Today, our class created a winter oil pastel artwork, using a tutorial to assist us, but what matters is what I learned. I'll be stating what I found easy, difficult, and what I'll do next time.
One of the easiest parts to creating this artwork was creating the base layer. It wasn't very hard to find the correct colours and colour them on. It was pretty straightforward overall. On the other hand, blending wasn't so easy. When blending, it was very confusing at first because the colours didn't seem to blend, but rather fade. In addition, you had to use a lot of arm strength to allow the colours to blend. After today's art session, I think that I can try to be less aggressive next time. I think that because I tired myself out too easily (mainly due to blending) and in order to have a more enjoyable experience.
In conclusion, I think this artwork was really fun to make, but I think it could be even more enjoyable in different circumstances!

Today, we made oil pastel art, I thought this art project was fun but tiring. Especially wiping down and blending the pastels. Something I thought was easy was how it turned out, even though it was a tiring process, it does not take much thought and skill. Next time I should try putting more effort into other parts of the art piece instead of the blending because I learned that the blending pastels takes little to no skill. Something I found quite challenging was the sheer amount of pressure you needed to put to blend the colours. The task at hand seemed very easy but in reality, was very tiresome and I frequently needed small breaks in between blending because of my twig like arms.

In conclusion, oil pastel art is something that is easy to learn and can create beautiful art with little to no art skills at all. But can still have a wide skill range because of what and how you blend and compliment your colour palette.

Today during art, we used oil pastels to create a beautiful winter landscape with trees. Before we started, we watched a tutorial on it, while Mr. Hong demonstrated how to do it at the same time. Something I learned was that sometimes art isn't difficult and that you can make a beautiful piece of art when you never knew you could do it! I think that doing the blending was the easiest part or, "simplest part" (simple not easy because it breaks your arms) because you don't need to be careful about it and you could just blend the colours in nicely. A challenge I had was, using the oil pastels to create the base layer because I wasn't sure how much of each colour I should put. Next time I would tape my paper down sideways because their is something wrong with me. I had to turn my hip and neck the whole time and it was hard for me to create the base layer. I would also put the moon a little bit lower because it looked kind of strange being so close to the top.

I had a lot of fun using the oil pastels to make something I really thought I couldn't do, and I wouldn't mine doing more projects that are similar to this one.

Today me and my class tried to replicate a ink pastel art piece and im am going to talk about my experience. One thing I found easy doing my piece was blending my colors, all i had to do was take a paper towel and rub at the pastel until it looked blended. one thing i found hard was when i had to draw the trees. the way i drew it down made it look misshapen, but i cleaned it up later. and finally, one thing that i think i could do differently next time is to follow the instructions more carefully. at the beginning of the drawing I incorrectly drew the snow banks, so when it came time to draw the actual snow, it was confusing. So in conclusion, those are the things I thought were easy, hard, and one thing that I could do differently next time. All in all, I had a fun time learning and drawing with pastels, and I hope to do it again.

Art is an amazing subject that allows you to express your creativity!
Today, we did an oil pastel art and made it look like a beautiful night sky with a glowing moon and bright shining stars.
I have learned many things and found some things hard or easy.
I learned how to blend the different colours together which was fairly easy but blending the colours together is also a tiring process but satisfying when completed.
Some things that were hard for me personally were drawing the trees with detail. In the end, my trees were thick with not much colour. I will change the trees a bit and try my best to make it look nice.
It’s easy to do this fun art project after watching the YouTube tutorial, and when you have the right materials, then you can just work away.
In conclusion this project has given me another chance to express my creativity, try various art materials, and learn how to make a nice oil pastel painting

Today at school, we made oil pastel drawings. It was a great really fun and I enjoyed it. Something I found that was easy was smudging the oil pastels to blend the colors together. Many people found this to be hard, however I even enjoyed the process. I discovered that if you fold the paper towel into a small hard triangle, it makes smudging a lot easier than just clumping the paper towel together and rubbing. Something that I found hard was drawing the trees. It was hard for me to make the trees look good, so I just did my best. Next time, I will try to keep the middle of my moon and my mountain cleaner because they were slightly smudged with oil pastels. This was a really fun project, and I would definitely do it again.

Today at school we made some pastel artwork. The way I made mine is from getting colors to draw around the moon I traced with a paper clip. After you smudge the colors together to make a nice background. I also drew some trees and some hills. I didn't like mine because I messed up the shading, I messed up on a tree and the white pastel I was using was not good. Anyway I liked the project and would like to something like it again.

We made oil pastel art. We're making a night sky with a bright moon and snow!

I didn't find anything easy because it is my first time doing this. One thing I found challenging was blending in the colours because i didn't press hard enough. This experience taught me how to make a picture using oil pastels. Next time I will press harder and put more focus while blending it in.

I had lots of fun using pastels and I hope I will do it again.

Today was a boring day, I made a mistake of not telling Mr. Hong I do art outside of school, so Mr. Hong kept telling me to pay attention. Anyways, I have learned this a kind of art a long time ago, it's only a long time ago since beginner art, and we learn that first. This does not mean I didn't learn anything, referring to the point where I forgot partly because I don't have very good long term memory. Therefore I did learn some things, for example, I learned that I should not apply the oil pastel to thick, since it makes it difficult to smudge. I also learned that rubbing to much and to long(because it is to thick) an separate your fingernail with finger a little, and it does hurt, even though none of my skin is actually damaged. One last thing I learned was rubbing to hard can also burn the paper towel. But what i'm really trying to say here is that I found rubbing it challenging, but I know how to fix it. I also found watching the video trying to teach us and then Mr.Hong repeating it really challenging to sit through. On the other side, the only thing I found easy was cleaning up after. I saw this as a chance to me to rest. (Kinda) Also, next time I would apply the oil pastel lighter so I don't have to use so much energy that it makes my arms feel like it's burning. Also if I apply it lighter, then my fingernail won't leave my thumb. IT STILL HURTS.

Today during art, we made a winter snowfall scenery. We used a variety of materials like pencil crayons, oil pastels, and paper towels. One thing I found easy was tracing my water bottle to make a circle for the moon. Also yes, it is really hard for me to make a master piece like this. One thing I found that was difficult was shading the oil pastels. There were a lot of big chunks when I smudged it and it got me really annoyed. One thing I would do differently to not use pencil like I did for the moon (now I can`t erase it T-T). I also learned that I could use sharpie instead of pencil crayon because it was a lot quicker and easier.

Doing the project was really hard but I guess it was kinda fun but not really.

Close your eyes and imagine a winter scenery with a night sky, stars dancing above, the full moon shining behind. That's the kind of art we made today! We created a picture using pastels, paper and more. I'm going to tell you about my art experience!

Firstly is what I learned. One thing I learned is that you don't need that much skill to make art! For a long time I thought that pictures like the one in the video, needed a time and skill. It turns out that you don't need skill! All you need is the right materials and well though out instructions.
Secondly I thought that tracing the circle was easy, and yes it is as easy as it sounds. It's simply just tracing a circle. Nothing complicated.
Thirdly I thought that drawing the tress was hard. It was hard because I couldn't get the trees looking good at all. Also I don't think I actually did the pastels right because everybody else's looked light and pretty, but on the other hand my picture looks so dark and unappealing. So I might have used to much pastel? This caused me some hardship with the trees because it was hard to draw on.

In conclusion this was a very fun project to do! If I could do this project again I would maybe you less pastel?

Today in art we made a winter snowfall painting with oil pastels.

We started by watching a video of how to create a snowfall scene using a variety of techniques and tools. I found it hard to keep the colours out of the moon when I was blending. I felt that if I had folded the paper more before I blended, it would make a big difference because I could see where I was blending. Although a lot of people complained that the blending was hard, I found it quite easy by pressing hard and filling in gaps. Something interesting I found was that you could actually erase most of the oil pastels off with an eraser, so that made my life easier.

In conclusion, next time when we do one of these again I will make sure to remember all the important skills and my areas for improvement.

Ever tried oil pastel art? Well this video is a good way fro you to start and try it out since it's easy, beautiful and easy to follow. But I'll list the pros and cons I had when making this.

My strengths for the oil pastel art project was probably just making the moon and snowbanks and I can't list more since I'm still working on my art and I haven't finished it yet. The cons I had was smudging. It was difficult since some parts had thick layers and took a while for it to smudge it and blend it into the colors. But after working after a while smudging for most of the class I got rid of the thick layers and it blened in the way I wanted it to. But I learned a lot from this experience including how to make a snowy winter landscape and how to blend in pastels.

In conclusion, oil pastel is really fun and a great learning opportunity to learn about pastels but it could be difficult for some stuff and easier for different stuff for other people.

pastel art is a form of art which involves pastels. Today in class we did this with oil pastels.
So, how was my experience with this? Well lets start out with what i found hard. The blending. Oh god the pain. You see we were instructed to use very thick layers which was actually a terrible idea. The paper towels easily removed some of the pastel however much of it was left in odd patterns. This made blending very difficult. How about something i learned? I learned that thin coats should be utilized instead of thick coats as that just make life much much more easier. some of mty strengths included taping the paper and picking the right box of pastels

In conclusion oil pastels while easier than paint, are still difficult and can just become one mess of oily crayon like stuff that you cant clean out of your fingernails. or it can become beautiful art. It really depends on who does it and how its done

Yesterday, we started to create a snowy night using pastels and it was fun. Before starting, we watched a video and Mr. Hong demonstrated what the video said to do.

Something I found easy to do was coloring with the pastel and drawing the moon and snow. Something I found challenging to do was blending the pastel. It was tiring to do because you have to push hard so it blends with the other colors, if you don't then it won't blend at all. What I learned was that you can make a beautiful landscape by blending different colors to make a nice sky and by using different materials, you can create cool effects.

In conclusion, I this was a fun art project and I hope I could do these kind of art again.

Everyday you learn something new and this time I learned how to blend and create a glowing effect around the moon that I drew. I found tasks that were easy, but some are hard and need more work.

At first, I found drawing the circle for the moon was pretty easy. I only had to trace a circle using my lead pencil and water bottle. Also, blending the colours with a paper towel was satisfying and easy at the same time. Although, there weren't much skill involved with rubbing a piece of paper towel on a piece of paper. Nevertheless, I was good at it.

On the other hand, I found colouring the areas around the moon challenging. I didn't colour it hard enough, so after I rubbed it, you could still see the borders between the colours. That was the only challenging part so far because I have not gotten far in to the art process. I am sure there will always be more challenges along the way.

Furthermore, next time I need to colour better and harder. Right now, one of my biggest obstacle is the colouring because I don't colour a very often and my skills are pretty bad. That leads me to the conclusion that next time I have to improve on colouring. I already received some feedback, but I need more if I want to improve.

Overall, my skills lies elsewhere and I have a lot to improve on in making a glowing effect around the moon.

During this week at school we started working on a new piece of art, I remember it was called oil pastel. I believe that basically means, you are using certain kind of pastel, and well I think the colors look nice and I guess they mix quite well to a certain degree. The idea of this artwork, is to create a mixture of colors without immediately mixing them.

When we started the Oil pastel art, I thought this was going to be another boring art project, but I realized this was going to be quite cool and interesting. During the 2 classes we had, I learned how the colors can mix really quick, and how organization can really affect the piece. As of right now I think my oil pastel is looking really good the tree I had just drawn looks perfect and the moon lit background is beautiful. I think I will be finished this art, by the end of next week, due to some fixing and edits I must complete.

In conclusion I think this is a very cool, and interesting work of art. I really would like to do more of this kind of art.

In school today, we made oil pastel winter scenery. We followed a video on how to make the scenery, it was pretty hard to make. Especially when we had to blend the colors together, after a long time my hand started to hurt and I'm pretty sure everyone felt the same. The easiest thing during this project was to draw the moon and landscape, except when I had to draw the trees, since they looked kinda a little odd.Overall the project was pretty fun to make, and I"m pretty glad this was just a practice thing, and I've learned oil pastels are unpredictable in my opinion, because sometimes they work very well at some times and could also work horribly.

On Thursday, we made a winter scenery with oil pastels. At first, when I watched the video, I thought that my final product would look nothing like that. I thought that my image would look so much worse. Surprisingly, the art project was easy and looked almost the same as the one displayed in the video.
Throughout this art project, I learned that blending the pastels were easier than I thought. at first, when I was trying to blend the pastels, I was putting too much pastel and the colour would just wipe off. After some trial and error, I learned that wiping off the oil pastel would create a blending effect. This was helpful to know and it really made my art so much better.
Another thing I learned was that pastel was messier than I thought. Before this project, I already knew that oil pastels were messy and hard to clean up. I really underestimated oil pastels, because by the time it was time for clean-up, the pastel was so hard to clean off my desk. Now, I know that I should be cleaner with my work so I don’t have to make too much of an effort to clean up.
In conclusion, the main thing that I have learned throughout this project is how to blend pastels, and that pastels can be very messy.

Do you know what oil pastel art is? On Thursday, we made a winter themed oil pastel art. I found colouring it was pretty easy but took some time to do it. To illustrate, all we had to do for the colouring was to use different blues and purples to colour around the moon to cause the glowing effect. I found rubbing/blending was challenging for me. This is because this was my first time doing it so I don’t have much experience and I was rubbing the wrong way at first.Next time when we do this art again, I would cover up the parts that don’t need to be coloured so that the pastel don’t go everywhere.
