PENCIL TO PIXELS DAY 2

Students are amazing!

Today, we made more progress on our Pencil to Pixels art by learning how to draw a face of an individual who identifies themselves as a female. Click the new videos I posted below if you want to practice drawing eyes and hairstyles. Over the next couple weeks, your drawings will continue to improve. Once we finish our final pencil draft, we will then digitize them using the IBIS PAINTx app. I can't wait to see what you all create! Keep up the good work! Tomorrow, we will begin watching some of the films from the children's film festival. We will spend some time every day this week watching them as you try to synthesize and evaluate the films for the big idea!

IMPORTANT:

We have been learning about different aspects of art in class during our pencil to pixels assignment.
In paragraph format, write about how different elements/principles of art/design help you with your drawings.

LEARNING INTENTION:
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Paragraph format (intro, body, and conclusion)
2.) Include in your body how PROPORTIONS/REFERENCE LINES help you draw different facial
features (choose 3 of the following - eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and/or face).
3.) Check your paragraph to make sure you have included everything above.
4.) Check your paragraph for the givens.
5.) Give 2 students feedback on how they can improve their paragraphs.
6.) Edit/revise your paragraph based on the self or peer-assessment/feedback.

Today I learned how to draw Manga, and it was hard. However, some things that helped me were the "Principles of Design". When drawing, always remember to include these principles. (Contrast, Emphasis, Repetition & Pattern, Variety, Proportion, Rhythm & Movement, Balance, and Harmony and Unity) For example, when I was drawing the eyes, I tried to include emphasis. Meaning that I tried to emphasize certain parts of the eyes, to create a glimmer. Another example is, when I was creating the face, I tried hard to include Proportion. This means that the relationship of other things combined well. The eyes couldn't be too big or too small, or it would look disproportionate. Lastly, I tried to include pattern in the ears. This may sound weird, but I had to repeat the lines in the ears, meaning it's pattern. Overall, I learned to new skills for Anime, and that I should be sure to include the Principles of Design!

What are the elements and principles of art and how do they help you with your work? The elements of art are colour, form, line, shape, space, and texture. The principles of art are scale, proportion, unity, variety, rhythm, mass, shape, space, balance, volume, perspective, and depth. These individuals create a composition and work as a whole together. Nonetheless, It’s important to learn these certain/or all of these elements to strengthen your art abilities because each one of them work off of each other. Most importantly, knowing what the elements of art are, it helps us to describe what someone has done with their work, to identify what is happening in an art piece and communicate through learning these elements and principles. For me, I definitely haven’t yet learned many of these elements/principles, which is why I can’t exactly identify the elements that I use in my art. However, I know that I use proportion, which is how they compare to one another to size, color, quantity, degree, setting, ratio, etc. I also use different shapes obviously because I don’t use the same shape for every piece of the features (this depends on different art style) and I use depth in my art, which are techniques of perspective used to create illusions that are used everywhere. I know that I definitely use a lot more of these elements/principle in my art, I just can’t exactly identify each and every one of them. In addition, art can be very challenging and difficult and it’s important to know these elements/principles to help deepen your understanding of art. Overall, I’m still learning more and more about these techniques everyday and I’m looking forward to turning pencil into pixels because I’ve never tried digital art before.

There are elements and principles of art that can help you with your (or you're or your'e however its spelt) work. How you may ask? The elements of art are lines, form, colour, texture. The principles are scale, proportion, rhythm, mass, shape, space, balance, volume, perspective, and depth. I think they are the ones. Those individuals create a composition thing and work to make art. It's Important to learn them to true'ly make art, and have knowledge of it. Its challenging to do so.

Drawing anime and manga is a difficult thing to do. When I draw something, I use the principles of design. There are 8 principles and they include contrast, emphasis, repetition & pattern, variety, proportion, rhythm & movement, balance, and harmony & unity. These principles help me draw different facial features. For example, when I draw eyes, balance helps me make the eyes look right and even. For the hair, I use pattern to shade and draw lines to make it look better. When I draw the face, I use one of the principles to make it look good. Overall, when draw, I use the principles of design to make it look right.

Are you good at art? From what I know, I am not. Recently, I started a art project called pencil to pixels at school, and I am having trouble with drawing the faces, at least the reference lines help me out. The parts of the face I find easy drawing using the reference lines are the eyes, nose, and mouth. The eyes are easy to draw because of the reference line showing where to place, nose is the same of it, and the jaw line also makes where to place the mouth clearly. In conclusion, reference lines make drawing faces easier.

Imagine drawing everything freehand. Not knowing what is put where. That's what your drawing would be without refrence lines. Refrence lines help the artist draw out body parts in roughly relistic areas. For example when someone draw the eyes, normally you dont want themn to be too large or too big. You want them to be roughly in the middle. You also want both sides to be roughly the same. Refrence lines nhelp you with that. They help you create a more relistic and symetric face/body part. Which is a principle of art and design, balance. Symmetry is balance and that helps us when we are creating a more relistic facial expression. We use these to apply to othwer facial expressions as well such as draing the brows, nose, facial structure, and many many more. We are using the principles of art and design to create not only a unique artwork, we are creating a artwork that might be showcased in a manga comic itself.

Have you seen an anime before, or maybe even read a manga? Well if you have, you know how intricate the designs are and how visually different they are compared to real life. For example, anime eyes are bigger and have a glimmering shine to them. To draw these drawings, you would have to use the Principals of Art. A shape for the head, lines for the jawline, curves for the eyes, etc. To put them in the right place, you need to put reference lines. They have to be really light since you'll be erasing them after. 3 horizontally to put the eyebrows, eyes, nose, ears, and mouth and 1 vertically to create a symmetrical effect. Those reference lines can also be used to make the hair. Having reference lines makes it really easy to adjust the facial features and allows you to customize each character with the same process.

What are the elements of art which are present in the art object that you chose?Line, color, shape, form, value, space, and texture are the seven core elements of art and they often overlap and inform one another. Whether talking about drawing, painting, sculpture, or design, these components of art all need to be taken into consideration. Without them you would never be able to make anything. The elements of art are a huge help while drawing, how do you use them?

Manga drawing style. Interesting but not se easy to draw. Things such as reference lines would be too obvious, so instead ill share a tip based off of my experience so far. That would be head size. When I tested head height. I noticed that lengthy heads looked more realistic but, didn't fit in with the most common cartoony head size that is commonly seen in most anime/manga. This is a component to balancing cartoony or realistic style in your art. I decided to share this tip because it seems like something hard to spot. So if you want to balance your drawing this is a tip you might want to use.

Drawing for an anime or manga both require a lot more than just looking nice, there's all elements and principles that helps your drawings. when drawing, we follow guidelines and principles that include sorts like contrast, emphasis, repetition + pattern, variety, proportion, rhythm + movement, balance and harmony + unity. Elements make the principles possible as it being line, shapes and more. Although it may be considered cheating for some people, referencing your artwork helps it be consistent! As of with this knowledge attained, I will further improve on how pleasing my drawings actually look towards the eye besides from some simple principle movement and emphasizing on parts in my artwork I would like more. For instance, emphasizing the person on the ledge of the sit instead of the roughly sketched books in the selves.

Elements make the principles possible by being line, shapes and more. Although it may be considered cheating for some people, referencing your artwork helps it be consistent! As of with this knowledge attained, I will improve on how my drawings actually look towards the eye besides the simple principle movement and emphasizing parts in my artwork I draw. For instance, emphasizing the person on the ledge of the sit instead of the roughly sketched books in the selves. Notably, drawing manga isn't easy. It requires good amount of detail and well-spent time to be able to create a actual manga that can lighten up someone's worse day in an instant.

Expression is one of the best elements/principles of art and design. today we did more work on pencils to pixels. I feel like eyes are one of the best ways to portray a lot of expression in a character. They have so much expression. Eyebrows also go along great with eye expressions. Lastly, the mouth is also a very good way of showing expression and feelings. All of these examples help me to convey personality in my drawings.

The principals of art and design take a major role in art. In class we are working on drawing in a manga and anime style. But the main principle in my opinion is shape because if you brake it down you basically have the human body just made out of shapes, so you could make all the poses you want. Another thing is alignment when you put down the guide lines you know where everything is so it doesn't look all uneven and wonky. For example when I draw a full body I always use guide lines and shapes it helps with the process and sometimes it dose not look good at the start but trust me, just trust the process. Over all the principals of art and design take a crucial role in art.

And some advice is never go down on your art it never helps I know from personal experience it never helps. Art only comes from trial and error. (take this how ever you want)

For me I have slowly learned how to do do the face, ear, and mouth. I have a stile for the face that closely resembles the one shown in the video but more thin. With the ears I looked at premade ones and adapt it to the drawing. Contrary to the ear I got verbally taught how to draw it in school a small bit, then I adopted it more. In a slow method of years I have self-taught myself with hints.

They help as in a caution line, they tell me not to go to far but to still attempt to be flexible.
