Social Studies Research Due Tomorrow

Today, students continued working on their ancient civilizations research. Many students are well on their way to completing their work for tomorrow. The research component should be completed for tomorrow (not the actual final project).

Today, the grade 6 students received their band notices for next year. All grade 6 students will be part of the band next year. If you have any financial hardships, please speak to Mr. Hong in private and I will make sure it is taken care of. Feel free to email me directly if you like.

Grade 7 Farewell meeting for parents tomorrow

1.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Complete steps 1-6 on your criteria sheet. You have had 2 weeks to work on this. Follow your criteria sheet closely.
Make sure you have put all your research onto your Google Document. All 6 steps must be completed for tomorrow.

Clothing for most Indians is also quite simple and typically untailored. Men (especially in rural areas) frequently wear little more than a broadcloth dhoti, worn as a loose skirtlike loincloth, or, in parts of the south and east, the tighter wraparound lungi. In both cases the body remains bare above the waist, except in cooler weather, when a shawl also may be worn, or in hot weather, when the head may be protected by a turban. The more-affluent and higher-caste men are likely to wear a tailored shirt, increasingly of Western style. Muslims, Sikhs, and urban dwellers generally are more inclined to wear tailored clothing, including various types of trousers, jackets, and vests.

Although throughout most of India women wear saris and short blouses, the way in which a sari Is wrapped region to another. In Punjab, as well as among older female students and many city dwellers, the characteristic dress is the shalwar-kamiz, a combination of pajama-like trousers and a long-tailed shirt (saris being reserved for special occasions). Billowing ankle-length skirts and blouses are the typical female dress of Rajasthan and parts of Gujarat. Most rural Indians, especially females, do not wear shoes and, when footwear is necessary, prefer sandals.

Life in ancient China is actually not very structurally different from today's hectic, busy schedules. Like modern people, the ancient Chinese had family functions to attend, religion, aches and pains, and the usual having to work almost the whole day.
Religion in ancient China during the Shang dynasty was divided into Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. The ancient Chinese believed in a ying and a yang, and they built pagodas in order to "bless" surrounding towns and villages and in order to worship.
Class structure was also very important during this time. Most of the people were peasants and there was the small number of nobles and kings. The difference of wealth between the peasants and the nobles and kings was very large. Most of the time, the peasants were living in huts or little houses made out of mud or bamboo. They did not even have a floor as we know it today. On the other hand, the nobles and kings built lavish palaces and summer homes that were also made out of mud and wood but looked a whole lot better. They were decorated with lavish objects such as candles held by bronze candlesticks.
For women, daily life was filled with taking care of the home and the children. The structure and difference between genders was greatly emphasized. The woman must respect and obey her husband at all times. Women almost never were married to the men of their choice. If she did something wrong, her family would be in disgrace. The male had much more power over the household than the females. The eldest male (usually the father) was in charge and dominated the affairs of all the family members. He dictated their daily doings.
Since most people were peasants, they usually did not have anything else to do for work other than farm. This was perhaps one of the poorest occupations of that time. Merchants did a little better, but the farmers always had the hardest time. The peasants worked from day to night, and they did not even own the land that they worked on. The property was usually owned by the noble or king. In addition to working on the noble's land, the farmer had to give gifts to the noble. So, whenever the peasant-farmer had something extra or nice, he could not keep it and had to give it up to the noble or king (so that he could 'stay in his place and not become as proud as the nobles').
The peasants also celebrated the Spring Festival. Usually at this time the young people got together and they usually paired up and some of them were even married. This celebration was held every year in order to assure a good harvest (or a good year) and is the equivalent to the Chinese New Year.

There weren't much happening in ancient China unlike now in the modern era, but there was still work from day to night like the women in China because they stay home and work take care of the choirs and kids. In ancient China the mens was the most important and was respected more than the womens, also the eldest male in the house was the one who had the most respect and was more in charge in the house than anybody else.

The first great king of Babylon was King Hammurabi. He took over all of Mesopotamia and established the first Babylonian Empire. Hammurabi was the one who created the laws that we call currently Code of Hammurabi. The Code of Hammurabi was written down on clay tablets. Its actually one of the oldest codes of laws that have been written down in the world. One of the best examples of the code is written on the "diorite stele". The code itself tells others that It also holds some very important ideas. For example, having people give evidence for people having a crime, getting the innocent to admit their guilty, etc.

Ancient Egyptian makeup

Ancient Egyptians wear makeup because they care about their looks, and for their health. They also wear it because of their culture! They wear it too becuase of their health. To the ancient Egyptians, the more color worn by a person, the higher the social ranking. Even the statues of gods and goddesses wore makeup!

We should follow rules so we don't get in trouble. We should follow laws so we don't get sent to jail and get a criminal record. If we did not follow rules we would get in trouble and detention. If we did not follow laws the we would get sent to jail.

we follow rules so we firstly don't get in trouble and secondly so we don't look like bad people. We follow laws so firstly we don't get sent to jail and secondly so we don't get a criminal record and can't travel anywhere. If we did not follow rules like robbing a bank then Im sure people would go to jail. If we didn't follow class rules like calling someone a name or something like that I'm sure we could get sent to Mr.Morellies office and nobody wants thay because he is SCARY.

We should follow rules because they are there for a reason to keep us safe and to keep us from trouble. We should follow the laws because if there were no laws the world would be in chaos and everyone would be doing there own thing. I think rules and laws are good because they keep us from crossing over that boundary.

We should follow the rules, so we wont get in trouble. Following rules also is really important, because if you go beyond it, there's a possibility someone might die.
BOOM!!!! Hear that sound! Yes, that's the sound if you don't follow the laws! Either that sound is a car crash, a gunshot, or a bomb, or other. We should always follow the laws because if you don't, you might get arrested, or your family might be broken.
If you don't follow the rules or laws, people might die, and the community will all be a huge chaos.

Why do we have to follow rules? Is following rules and laws that important to us? Of course, it is. Some people said "rules are meant to be broken" especially if they're strict ones in the community. If we don't follow the rules/laws, for example, there's a sign saying, "No Littering" and people just littered, that's a big NO NO. Even though rules are the ones that keeps the community in order, some people still get in trouble for going against the rules.

DINGGGG!!! You hear Mr.Hong's chine ringing to quite us down. We should follow the rules, because if we don't then a lot of bad things would happen. we should follow the law, because if we don't then we will get in a lot of trouble from the police. There even is a chance of going to Jail. If you don't follow the law of rules then you will get in huge trouble from Mr.Hong or the principle. If you don't follow the law you will get in even bigger trouble you could even go in jail in the future which will ruin your life. That will ruin your life, because you will have a criminal record.

We follow rules because its what keeps us from making wrong choices just like laws but laws apply with more consequence that are more strict than rules and if we didn't follow the rules or law there should be strict consequences that no one wants so they wouldn't make the wrong choices and follow what's right by not what they think is right, is by what the laws/rules are.

"5 years sentence to JAIL!!!" If yo don't want to end uin jail in the real world there will be a few steps you will have to follow. One is that you always with have to abide why the law, the second one is that you will have to listen to inforcers such as Police, security, FBI, and judges that are trying to help you out. The last one is to not join in criminals acts or else there will be punishments. We should follow LAWS because it keeps everything in check and if there were no laws there would be killing and robberies regularly. We even have to follow rules because you won't want that one person that always cheats and doesn't really care about doing it fairly.

Why people follow rules and laws because it keeps everyone in order each country has there own rules/laws you have to respect those rules/laws what happens if we don't follow the rules/laws you go to jail for a long time and being in jail is not fun and if you try to escape they will find you and you make it out with out getting caught by the police you will have a criminal record on you.

Rules are important because they are guidelines to what is acceptable and what not. There would be no civilization without rules.

In societies there has to be a guideline something that regulates the conduct of people toward each other.
