Today, we finally received a break from the rain and the weather was just amazing! The forecast is calling for sun all week! We will do our best to do as much of our learning outdoors! Today, we learned about allusions. Students then had time to practice identifying and creating their own allusions of students in the class. Later, we continued learning about patterns and algebraic formulas/expressions. We ended the day with a chemistry vocabulary word sort and an introduction to our upcoming French cooking show assignment.
IMPORTANT:

A connection I made to the main character was when she went to her parents funeral, I remember when I went to both my grandma's funerals, which are in 2017 and 2018. I made the connection because I didn't have any other connections and I will never forget both my grandma's.

Scars are permanent. They are something that will live deep inside your heart for no matter how long. In your soul, when you're dead, and by your spirit. Furthermore, as Willow suffers the loss of her adoptive parents, her mind wanders around, as she no longer counts by 7. With the new damage she has suffered, she is determined that who she is and was has changed. As a result, three years ago, during the Christmas holiday, I lost my uncle. Although, I was able to be there everyday along his journey and my loss was not as sudden, knowing the pain is enough to relate. I made this connection because it is not easy to let go of such pain, and that it's alright to be upset, but more importantly, at this time, we should learn to trust those around us and let ourselves breathe. Remember what it is like to be surrounded by those who love you, and though it may be hard to forget, though the scar may remain, we need to move forward and stay strong.

In “COUNTING BY 7s” what’s a moment or character that you can make a connection with? For me, after following with the story, I couldn’t find a specific event nor character that I related to. However, I made a connection with Willow Chance because she loves the number 7 and she considers the number her lucky charm. She finds comfort within counting by 7s and it is her own way of relieving stress and calming herself when she needs it. With this information, I made a connection because I also have a coping method of calming myself too! It might seem a bit odd, but I like to draw things on my hands and tap my fingers quickly because it helps me loosen up and calm down. Nonetheless, I’ve been doing this for years now but I don’t really do this as often anymore, I did this a lot when I was younger and it helped me stay self regulated when I needed it. In addition, Willow is no longer able to count to 7s after the traumatic events in her life, she is convinced that she has changed and will choose not to go back. Briefly, I could never compare myself to Willow’s trauma and the events she’s been through, however, we both have our own coping methods and our ways of overcoming grief and it’s something we both have in common.

Then moment that I most can get the most meaningful to me is when she made her first friend. Then went to learn a language gust for the friend because, I putting friend first and then doesn't speak up of the lie, that he would correct instantly.

Although my life is very different then Willow's the fact that some things are so similar suprise me. Willow Chance is supposedly a very smart girl whose adopted. But after a incident Willow is left with all kinds of trouble, and sometimes maybe i feel the same way as her i made a meaningful connection. When Willow parents died in a incident it was obiviously very sad for her. Tho i dont think she really understood the fact that her life will be very different, when i was younger my grandpa died and it was the first time i expirienced this stuff. So when i was at the funeral i didnt quite understand what was going on and thought it was some sort of game. But looking back i can see that this really chanegd my life. I really liked my grandpa since he would always bring me outside and play. So after my grandma passed away i really knew what it was like to lose my grandparents, and that was like my meaningful connection since when we read that part of the story it really reminded me of my grandparents.

It is a very personal experience, and, at times, it can be a very overwhelming emotion. Willow, the protagonist in counting by sevens loses her parents through a tragic accident. She is grieving over the loss and is struggling to do anything. A few years ago I was notified that my grandfather was in grief pain and they did not know why, a day later we were notified that his cancer had gotten worse. His life expectancy was about 3 years (2 years now), although we knew he had cancer for a quite a while now this experience was still heart breaking. My entire family was very sad.

I’m going to make this short and just tell you a connection that I made from one of the events in this story. There was a event Willow was shocked and she just her nose (or whatever is between the eyes). I can’t totally relate to this. I was playing games in my phone when I started to lean forward. I leant forward to much that I fell. There was a chair in front of me and the edge . It hurt my nose and when I landed my phone in my hand got crush by my nose. It hurt my nose a lot, fortunately nothing serious happened. It was a funny thing to reflect on, something that would stay inside forever. The fact that I had all my friends watching me! 🤣

Somewhere in “Counting by 7’s” Willow had an accident because she accidentally passed out by looking at a incident which affected the Glabella and had put a scar there (that’s what I remember from the story) and then I remember that I had a connection to that. Like a few years ago when I was in grade 2 I was having a bike race with Tyson and I got to determined to beat him back then that I lost focus and fell to the ground, when I fell on the ground I sort of felt a stinging pain below my nose and I realize that when I fell something had happened in between my nose and my mouth and since scars are permanent that means that it’s still there and will by there forever and will not come off.

Life has surprising events for everyone, whether good or bad, everybody has something in stock for them. Willow is an unfortunate 12 year old, losing 2 pairs of parents isn't easy and it must be very difficult to recover after such an incident. I was very little when my grandpa passed away, even though I barely remembered, the thought of losing someone very close to you is heartbreaking, and every time I hear my dad talk about grandpa its always sad to think that he's gone. I cannot connect to Willows sadness though because I didn't remember much back then, but I do think that it's unfortunate because I can't spend any time with my grandpa. This book has tragedies and many more other life lessons, and we can all learn to remember them.

Having to be a foster child is already hard and it wouldn't get worse than that right? After Willow Chance got accepted into a family of two foster parents, she lost her foster parents to a car crash almost right after and had nowhere to stay. However, she had the library to help her increase her moods and keep her entertained. A connection I made in this story was when Willow said people weren't allowed to sleep in the library or they're afraid homeless people might take over the library. I remember when I was in Toronto, we went into a mall and while my mom went to shop, me and my dad fell asleep on one of the chairs and got woken up by a security guard who told us we weren't allowed to sleep here. At that time I didn't understand why and I was genuinely confused and a bit frustrated. Now, I understand why I wasn't able to sleep at the mall and it made me understand both the story, and why I couldn't sleep at the mall. To sum it up, I think "Counting by 7's" is a nice book you can make many connections and feelings with and I hope I can learn more from this book.

Losing a family was a tragic event for Willow. Willow is the protagonist in the book "Counting by 7s" and is grieving for her lost parents. To this event, I made a connection when my great grandfather died and when me and my family all went to the funeral. This connection deepened my understanding of how painful and sad losing a family could be, and I can infer her life will change from that point drastically. In conclusion, losing a family member is a tragic event that you cannot predict.

Losing someone that you love can be devastating. As Willow lost her loving parents, her dreams and hopes where beginning to fade as sadness grew over her. After hearing how Willow had to suffer such a miserable time, it quickly reminded me about how my great grandma past away a few years ago. However, at that time, I was still little, therefore, when my family was notified that she wasn't doing very well at the hospital, I didn't really get what was happening. As we appeared at the funeral, I was very confused because of how I saw one of my aunt crying in pain. However, looking back at some old pictures, I now see why losing a family member or a close friend can be really hard to overcome. Even though I didn't have much time to spend with my great-grandmother, she is still a vey important and unforgettable person in my life.

Family is important, they are the people that look out for you, and help you when you need it, people who truly love you. Losing a family member is tragic. Willow Chance sadly happen to lose all of them in just one day. Though I can't fully relate I have lost one. That would be my Grandpa. He was healthy at the age of 77, worked as a full time dentist, and could take care of himself. By the year of 2020, the day before new year his life was claimed. On a hospital bed, Covid-19 took the last breath out of him. His immune system was strong, but one of his friends had advised him to take antibiotics. It did suppress the disease, but same happen with his immune system. He felt fine at first, better than before, but that didn't last for very long. With his still weak immune system, the once faded symptoms were destructive. At that point there was no chance of recovery. He left, went to a better place.

Loss is hard. It's hard to lose. It's hard to lose things that are replaceable, but a lot harder to lose something you can't replace. This shows in "Counting by 7's" Willow loses both her parents. She is overwhelmed by grief. I connect this to my great uncle. Recently, on February 21st, he lost his mother (101 years). Then, 33 days later, his sister's husband, died. In addition to this, COVID has prevented him from visiting his grandchildren. Like Willow, he is overwhelmed by grief, and is not talking very much. He loved his mother very much, and had taken care of her for a few years when she needed it. His brother-in-law was young when he died. He was only 66 years old. And I'm pretty sure his grandchildren are his favourite things in the world. This connection helps me understand how important it is that Willow has Mai as a friend. A few days ago, I overheard my parents talking about how their cousins, my great uncle's children, were worried about him. They were worried that e would go into depression. This could lead to suicide. In the story, Willow did state several times she didn't care whether she lived or not. It is hard to lose something like your parents. They are irreplaceable. You can't get them back. This is why you become super sad when you lose them. You should never feel ashamed to tell people how you feel. Let them help. Loss is hard. Everyone understands that.

By the way, another connection. Not very meaningful, but my great aunt, the one who lost her husband, lives in the same city/town as Willow. She lives in Bakersfield, CA.

Everday we see people come and go but don't think much about it. One day they have perfect health the next moment you won't see them again. I know that a lot of people has alreayd done connections to people they have lost, but I am still going to be amking a connection to that. A month to 3 months ago I got information that someone in my family had.. health issues and isn't exactly conscious. I thought it wasn't that big of a deal untill a week after when um... they arn't alive anymore. I thought it was fake for a long time until it came to me that this individual won't come back. I connected to willow to this since she also lost her parents. I understand her feelings and emotions and i still feel the hurt that she feels. I connected to willow a lot and I know that willow will understand and respect the things that has happened.

Counting by 7's is about a girl named willow who lost her parents in a car accident. Even though Willow and I are very different, I could still relate to her. One connection that I have is that I like to hang out in my bedroom whenever I feel certain feelings which is like how Willow likes to hang out in her garden when she feels certain feelings. Whenever I'm bored, happy, angry, sleepy, and more, I just spend time in my room either reading or playing with Lego's. Willow spends most of her time in her garden being calm and studying her plants. In conclusion, books let you connect with its characters and sometimes a character might be just like you.

Through many moments, although I do not have a life anywhere Willow's I can relate in the small moments. For instance, when Willow was behind the nail salon reminded me ours of just travelling there with her after school and getting comfortable. Though, I can't say I was really close to them just like Willow ever was. I haven't done much with my life lets be honest, but I do know this is one of the few books that go in-depth with children's emotions and that alone, is something I really admire.

Some scars fade while others will stay forever. In the book counting by 7s the main character willow has to deal with the loss of her parents and that will take a toll on her meantal health you see her not acting normally. A connection I have to this is when I lost all comunticating with my friends from surrey for more than a week and this was when i just moved here during quarantine so I practically felt like I lost my friends but some time after we found a way to talk again. But now that scares me that one day I might lose all my friends and I'll be all alone again. But what I'm saying Is that when something bad happens to you and it takes a toll on your mental health it will scar you, and those scars last a very long time. Some scars fade but others will stay forever.

Being lonley is hard, and Willow has to go through it. In the book, "Counting by 7s", Willow lost her parents at a young age. She has no other families to rely to, and no friends. A connection I made was when Willow hit her head on the table with when my sister hit her head on the table of McDonald's. Ambulances came too. It was when we were small, and I don't remember, but my parents told me about it. When I heard about Willow hitting her head, I remembered this. I also had a time when I hit my head too. I was playing soccer inside and I tried to kick a bouncing ball. I missed, and so I tripped. I hit my head on the hard surface of the floor and it hurt so much! No blood come out, but it still hurt. With Willow losing her parents and hitting her head, she hurts both mentally and phycically hurt, but still goes on.

Willow chance has gone through a lot. She tragically lost her parents twice, causing her to almost go insane. A connection I made was when Willow hit her head on the table and had to get stitches in the hospital. When I was 3 or 4, I was exceptionally reckless, for I never had a serious injury or any problems up to that point. However, one day, I fell while running around the house, hitting my head on a protruding object on the floor. I was bleeding and had to go to the hospital to get stitches in my forehead. This experience allowed me to understand how unfortunate and unhappy Willow is in the story, making the story more meaningful to me.

Right now we’e reading a book called Counting by 7’s, it’s a meaningful book about a smart girl named Willow. Everything was starting to go well for her until her parents died in a car accident. This reminded me of when my great-grandma died, although i never knew her because she died a few months before i was born.

Willow Chance, a young genius. Adopted by her parents at the age of 12, she is obsessed with plants and the medical field, being able to pre-diagnose people by just looking at them. When she was at her peak, it all came crumbling down. Her parents, gone in a single day. She now needs someone new to help transport her around. So she calls for a taxi, when it arrives, the taxi driver is Jairo. Willow notices a blue, yellowish mole growing on the back of his neck. She knows that moles stop growing at around the age of 20-30. She tells him that he should go check it out with a doctor. Turns out, it's cancer. I have a connection with cancer. When my dad was 9, my grandpa, or my dad's dad, would eat unhealthy foods. They found out that my grandpa had an underlying stage 4 cancer. Due to it being the late 1980's, it was stage 4, and Indonesia being a third world country, there was no way he could possibly survived, right? Right. He died a sad death when my dad was just 9. It is sad that I am unable to know what he's like, but death gives life meaning. Do you have any connections with Counting By 7's?
