The Beep Test

Today, we continued to review 'PLACE VALUE' during Math and worked on corrections from last week. We will have one more day of Math review tomorrow and then we will start some new concepts later this week. In P.H.E. (Physical and Health Education), we assessed your cardiovascular health by conducting the beep test. Those students who didn't participate today will complete it on Wednesday. You will do this several times this year to see how your cardiovascular health improves.

1.) READING: Read for 30 minutes and log your reading in your planner.

2.) MATH:

Complete all corrections from last week's worksheets. Have your parents sign the worksheets to make sure I know they have seen them.
Complete Place Value worksheet from today (if unfinished)

3.) PASSION PROJECT:

We will start working on these projects in class tomorrow.
Have your images accessible. You can upload them directly to Animoto from home, bring a flash drive, or upload them to a Google Drive folder.

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

Choose at least 5 of the following words and write an interesting paragraph with them.
ecosystem, habitat, biotic, abiotic, producer, consumer, detrivore/detritivore, detritus, niche, organism, decomposer, community, population, indigenous, invertebrates, and trophic.
Standard Paragraph (Topic sentence/intro, body/supporting sentences, and concluding sentence.

“Wooooosh.”

As the water splash Lucy’s hands, she sees an community of bears in there habitat sleeping. She gets worried about the bears because what if they see her? She hides behide a tree and finds a book about the ecosystem. She reads it to calm down a bit. She finds it interesting and knew she wanted to know more about it.

One of the bears wake up! She continues to hide. “Grrrrrrr.” One of the bears say. “Our population is still springing faster than humans!” Lucy looks confused. “Bears can talk? I never knew that...” Lucy peeks over at the bear and watches it fight a tree. Lucy remembers what the bear says earlier and says “You know humans population is WAY bigger than yours little bear!” The bear looks at her and gives a horrific look. “Well I don’t read, so how would I know!” The bear and Lucy continue to argue about who’s population is better. The bear get really mad and makes a huge growl. He punches the tree beside him. “Woah! You just made a niche in the wall!” Lucy screams. The bear turns happy and looks over at Lucy. They both come together and the bear eats her.

Did you know that British Columbia has a wide range of ecosystems that support thousands of plant and animal species. British Columbia has a very healthy ecosystem for organisms like plants and animals. There is clean water and air, healthy forests and farms, and a safe habitat. There are two types of biotic environments: terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. I hope that our community can also help to protect these plants and animals!

Did you know that British Columbia has a wide range of ecosystems that support thousands of plant and animal species? Our province has a very healthy ecosystem for organisms like plants and animals. There is clean water and air, healthy forests and farms, and a safe habitat for them to live in. There are two types of biotic environments they live in: terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Terrestrial ecosystems include animals and plants who live on land, such as raccoons, beavers, coyotes, bears, etc. Aquatic ecosystems include organisms in the water, like pinnipeds, dolphins, sea otters, etc. I hope that our community can also help to protect these plants and animals from harm, too!

I love hiking. One day, I went hiking with my family usually. I saw a bee flying in front of my eyes. I pushed away the bee. My father told me"Do you know a story or a fact about when bees are all extinction, how many days after when human being will be extinction?

It related to the ecosystem. In the ecosystem, there are consumer and producer. leaves are eaten by bugs, bugs are eaten by birds. It related to the food chain. In the ecosystem, everything are related to the food chain.A biotic eat another biotic, this is the food chain. When the bees are all extinction. A biotic which eat bees, they will extinction. Things will repeat again and again. Until humans are all extinction.

A long time ago...there was a small, innocent bunny. A small hole hidden amongst the leaves and grass in the jungle was it's habitat...at least it was. Something tragic had happen, forcing the bunny to go to the forest to live out the rest of it's life. This little bunny has a story to tell you---all of you.

The bunny used to live in the jungle, but the jungle's population was increasing rapidly, and soon, it will be so overwhelmed the jungle will have no more food or water, becoming a dry wasteland, and every animal in that jungle knew it. Then suddenly, there were animals going wild, killing and eating any animal it saw, claiming that it was the only way to save the jungle. Soon, there were two major sides: consumers and producers, but the animals called it predator and prey. But the bunny knew that if this kept going, the whole jungle will soon run out of animals. The bunny gathered as many innocent animals as possible and fled out of the jungle, hoping to find a new home. Days later, they stumbled across a forest, where the animals happily lived the rest of their lives. Everything was fixed...except for one thing. There were now animals that eat other animals, and they actually enjoy it. There will no longer be any peace between many animals. But for now, at least everything is fine...

" I suddenly feel nervous, “ we might be learning the ecosystem?" I said it with a small voices." Are you asking me question? Let me tell you what I just said. We are talking about ecosystem, it is disgusting but you need to learn it. Back to the topic, An eco system is a community made up of living organisms and nonliving things, such as air, water, and house. The biotic and abiotic components interact through nutrients cycles and energy flows. ecosystem can be of any size but each ecosystem has a specific, limited space. Some scientist view the entire planet as one ecosystem. Understand?" " I think so" I said. "Good." The teacher said.

The five words I am going to choose are ecosystem, consumer, habitat, invertebrates, and community.
The first I will be talking about is the ecosystem, there are many ecosystems in the world but I will be talking about earth's ecosystem. The earth’s ecosystem contains many things like minerals, water, animals and last but not least, air. The second word I would want to talk about is consumer, consumer means a person who buys good and uses it for personal purposes. For example, when you buy a car it is for personal uses so you would be a consumer, another one, when you buy a pencil you would be writing with it and not giving it others. Although you can give it to others but most of the time you would be using it yourself. The third one we will be learning about today is habitat. Habitat means where an animal or thing lives. When you say humans’, habitat is the earth it means the human’s home is the earth because it is where we live. Although some people live in different parts of the earth, when you generalize it you would say that our habitat is the earth (or is it??!!). The forth word is invertebrates, invertebrates mean an animal without a backbone, for example many bugs don’t have backbones. The last one I am going to talk about is community, community is very important because you must know your community to have good teamwork!!

What is a habitat? A habitat is basically the natural home or environment of an animal, plant or organism. Habitats are everywhere, up in a tree you can see a bird’s nest and down below inside a small hole can be a mouse’s habitat. What is an organism? An organism is an individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form. A living being, creature, animal, plant and life form are examples of an organisms. What is a population? A population is all the people of a certain town area or country. It could also mean a section, group, or type of people or animals living in a place or county. What is a community? A community is where there are people living in the same place or having characteristics in common. What is a decomposer? A decomposer is a living thing such as bacterium fungus or an insect that breaks down plant and animal matter into simpler parts.

An ecosystem is an area where plants, animals and other organisms live together and work to form a bubble of life. Ecosystems also contain biotic and abiotic parts. Both of these parts are crucial to the survival of an ecosystem. For example, if every single temperature (an abiotic part) of every ecosystem were the same, everything in the polar area would have more deaths, the desert won't BE a desert, and other things would happen. After all, every factor in an ecosystem depends on another ecosystem. There are also two different types of organism, consumers (Humans) and producers (Flowers). Both of these organisms are important. (Even the consumers!). First of all, if there were no producers, everything else would die eventually and if there were no consumers, too many things would run abundant. For example, plants would cover the whole ecosystem. FOREST OF CRAZY PLANTS!!! Finally, everything in even in the tiniest ecosystem is important and helps keep the cycle of life.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be an animal?
Being an animal may sound fun, but it's actually quite tedious.

Animals are everywhere! When you look up, you can see birds flying about, when you glance down you can see ants crawling all over the place.

The Earth is not just a habitat for humans, but a habitat that we share with biotic organisms, such as plants, animals, and insects. Some animals, like detritivores, forage to find dead organic material, instead of just walking to to the supermarket down the street and buying whatever they want. Some animals are consumers, meaning they eat or use something, and others are producers, meaning they make or cause something. They all work together to live in their natural habitat.

Sometimes, people bully animals by killing them or injuring them really badly. Don't do that! If you were the animal, how would you, like it if someone was squishing your friends or family?

So, next time, when you see a spider in your house, please don't whack it with broom! Think twice, and let it be!

Many ecosystems have a large variety or organisms. In my community there is a miniature ecosystem at the park. There are lots of invertebrates and ducks. I love looking at the little pond next to the giant indigenous Douglas fir. One day the beautiful ecosystems around us will become destroyed by global warming if we don't make an effort to protect it. I hope that this event will never happen and the world remains a beautiful green planet.

The Earth is not just a habitat for humans, but a habitat that we share with biotic organisms, such as plants, animals, and insects. Some animals, like detritivores, forage to find dead organic material. Some animals are consumers, like rabbits, which eat grass in order to consume their energy, and others are producers, like bees, which make honey.

In order to let detritivores, consumers, and producers all work together to live peacefully in a community, we human beings need to leave them alone in their natural habitat and treat them with respect. In return, Mother Nature will treat us well too!

Another weird thing is that it is a consumer and a producer so it can eat the edible material that grows on it's "so called back". Lastly, it doesn't have a habitat, so it lives nowhere; it roams. So, one day, this intelligent creature was moving down a classic street, and read a sign. It said " LAURIER. 59 AVE."
"Good" thought the creature, it would be finding the decomposes here, and there they were, some worms moving around. It leapt to them, and gobbled them up. Suddenly, a person came walking up the street, or maybe almost a whole community of people came up the street."Uh oh, humanoids, got to skedaddle!" thought the creature, and it vanished.

A long time ago, in a very dark forest, there was a tiger. He controlled all the animals in the entire ecosystem and couldn’t get it. He could only go hungry every day but they heard that they were eating in a magical habitat. There is drinking, and the habitat is shrouded in sunlight every day. So some small animals are like finding the habitat there, but they never came back. But there is a black panther in the forest that does not believe to go to find a habitat. But when it comes back, tell other small animals. Where is actually a wild animal hypermarket, he was almost caught. There are producers and consumers there. Other small animals that were scared have never mentioned this in the future.

Bob is a wild animal. His HABITAT is a couch. This couch must have some Mcdonald's french fries included with it or else he would not survive.

Fun fact: Bob is an ORGANISM. The ECOSYSTEM that surrounds Bob is trees, rivers, and bears. Bears think that Bob is part of their COMMUNITY for he acts like one of the bears. Bob likes to scratch his back on the trees. Mr and Ms Bob are kind and loving parents of Bob. The mountain that Bob lives on has a extremely large POPULATION of 9,999,999 (nine million nine hundred ninety nine thousand nine hundred ninth nine:/\) Bobs on that mountain.

I just want to say that you should be like Bob. Bob focuses on the perspective of mostly bears. He also attempted to be a bird, that didn’t go very well. So he stuck to a bear. He cares very much for all the beautiful things around him and so should you.

Hey! Does everybody knows what’s “ecosystem?” It can also be called the ecological system. It includes all the in the living thing such as animals, plants and “organism” in a given area! It is the of base of “biosphere.” The ecosystem determine the health of the entire earth system, including the earth, the sun, the soil and the climate. In an ecosystem, every single organism has its own “niche” or role to play. Every living organism on earth needs to have the basic things to survive. For example, the sunlight, the water, the air, the food and at last, a “habitat” with the right temperature.

But unfortunately, ecosystem has been disrupted by human activities, or even some natural disasters such as fire, floods, storms and volcano eruptions. It affect the whole ecosystem, providing food, water, timber, air purification and so on...... So I think we should start to be more careful using all the environment. Let’s protect the ecosystem and make the world a better place!

The Common things BETWEEN ECOSYSTEM, COMMUNITY AND ORANISMS is that all these thing share one particular area and the all get along real well so they start family’s and they soon make this in to there HABITAT and habitats are were animals stay or may even live there for the rest of there lives and they call this area a habitat for animals like bear, wolves,and much more!

"Ecosystem, habitat, community, population, organism".

Those are the words that I chose. So lets see... interesting paragraph. Well I can tell you that Canada, where we're from, have a lot of really beautiful ecosystems and habitats. For example, rainforests, tundras, boreal forests, coniferous forests, etc. The entire population in all of Canada is currently over 36.95 million. (according to google) The cummunity that I live in have a lot amazing plants and organisms. There are a lot of beautiful trees around and a lot of crows too. A lot of people don't seem to like them but they're actually quite friendly to me. I don't know why but everytime I walk by one, it just never flies away from me.

Well, that was my paragraph. I just talked about Canada but it seemed like the most reasonable thing to talk about haha.

Have you ever wondered what an ecosystem and how can we protect it? An ecosystem includes all the living things (plants, animals and other organisms) in each area, interacting with each other, and with their abiotic environments (weather, earth, sun, soil, climate, atmosphere). Usually, biotic members of an ecosystem, together with their abiotic factors depend on each other. And this means the absence of one member or one abiotic factor can affect all parties of the ecosystem such as fires, floods, storms and volcanic eruptions. Human also causes the disturbance of many ecosystems and biomes.
