The Egg Drop Challenge

Today in class the students were being scientists! The students worked in groups and created different contraptions using various materials to protect a raw egg from a hight fall. The students were coming up with many different designs and were pushing their own thinking during the debrief. In this stage the students are still prototyping their designs and the excitement for the first drop was felt by all in the classroom!

1) MATH: No Homework

2) NOVEL APPROACH:

Continue to give feedback to any of your partners.
DON'T do the work for your partner. Just leave comments.
Edit and revise your work from the comments given to you by your partner.
Ask questions if anything is unclear.

3) POST A RESPONSE:

When Mr. Redican first came to this class the students told him how much they wanted to work in groups and Mr. Redican agreed this was important.
During sciencing we worked in groups, and before every lesson we talk about how to work in a successful group.
In paragraph form write about why you like working in a group.
List three things you need to do in order to work in a good/ successful group. (for example: encourage everyone to participate).
Don't forget the givens: spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitals, and sentence variety.

I like working in groups because I get to talk and learn others Ideas.
I like to encourage others to stay focus and stay on topic. I like to work with everyone. It depends though, If they don't want to work with me, I'm cool with that.

I like working in groups because there is normally more ideas. If it was just me it would be hard to think of ideas. To have a successful group is to have 1 Chemistry or something because if you don't have chemistry most people argue. 2 you should go around your group and try to use everyone's ideas. 3 you have to be nice because some people get upset easy.

I like working in groups because I can get help from my neighbor. I can also get some ideas if needed. Three things you would need to work in a good group is equal participation, work, and listen. You need to let everyone have a chance to work. If you work in a group you need to work not chat with students. Be open to new ideas, not just use all your ideas. Who knows maybe other people ideas can inspire you.

💥Group Working💥

I didn't really like anything in our sciencing group work because I'm an independant kind of person. The only thing that I really liked about the group work was inflating the balloons and tying them.

3 important things you need to work in a group.

1.) You need to be open to new ideas don't be selfcentered.

2.) You need to be kind and respectful not demanding. You should encourage people who don't normally do much in group work to do more.

3.) Commincate. To do group work you need to communicate because how can you make it sure that the egg won't break if you don't talk to your peers, how can you know if what they're doing is right.

Sorry if this was short. Im at the mall with Adrian right now.

@Ozem I appreciate your honesty. I am more of an independent worker too. Having said that, working in groups is an important skill to have. There are almost no jobs where you work completely independently.

Think of this group work as a chance for you to practice working with other people.

I love working in groups, because it's fun and you could work with your friends, but there is one down side it gets noise really fast. Because of the talking.

3 important things you need to know while working in groups.

1.) You have to try to be quiet.

2.) You need to let everyone participate in your group.

3.) You have to fallow the R.O.L.E.S or else you will be in a lot of trouble. And make sure you remember code red.

I like working in groups, because I think It's fun to work in groups, and you can work with your friends. But the bad thing about it is that it gets noise very fast (because we're talking a lot).

3 important things you need to know while working in groups.

1.) Try to be more quiet and remind others to quiet down.

2.) Be more fair and let others participate.

3.) Be respectful and follow the R.O.L.E.S and don't forget about code red.

The reason why I want to work in groups is because it is fun to do random things sometimes, share funny moments related to the topic, and make random jokes while doing it, also I am not a fan of working independently.

3 things to be a successful group
1)be open to all ideas.
2)let all your group members get a chance to share their thoughts.
3)self regulate and chill out don't get triggered.

3 important things you need when In groups.

1) Be respectful of others learning .(Eg. Make sure you keep an inside voice and do not yell across the room. When you do this it tells other people that it is okay to talk. So a chain reaction happens )

2) Follow the R.O.L.E.S! ( I think you guys know what this means.) which also falls into code red. Code red is when someone is injured or something bad has happened. When Mr. Redican or Mr. Hong says this, It means STOP, DROP, AND LISTEN!

3) COURGE others to try their best and to have fun. Make sure the whole group to join in and help.

4) Take leadership and responsibility. (Eg. When you do something and the other person gets introuble for your mistake tell the truth.)(Eg. When someone is fooling around or not listen, politely say " Hey, Mr. Redican is speaking can you please listen?!" or when if theirs something to clean up , just clean up without the teacher asking!)

I like groups because people get to make better connection with classmates that they don't even talk to.It also makes the bond of a a friendship strong because you get to talk and get to hear ideas.

If you want to work in groups you need to learn how to cooperatively play the games which are insisted. ALSO you need to be positive because we dont't want anybody storming 9 feeling sad because he did something wrong and this supposedly teammates yell at him.

I don't like working in groups at all!
I like working alone since I have full control over my projects and don't have to rely on others that might not even know what to do.
Also it makes it so nobody other then you is to blame if something goes wrong because whenever I work in a group I get blamed.
I did the opposite but im sorry for not doing the original goal and concept but this is what I wanted to say.

I like working with groups because you learn more, and you get to have more experience about teamwork, and you get to spend more time with other people or your friends doing educational stuff.

How to work like good successful group:
-Always stay with your group

-Include everyone in the group

-Don't talk about stuff that aren't educational, and focus on the project

I like working in groups because you get to learn other peoples ideas. I also like it because you could have fun with friends.

To sit in groups you would have to be positive, and listen to the teacher and not getting distracted, also listen to other ideas if you are going group work.

I think it's good that we go in groups once in awhile because it gives us a chance so we can know one another and know what they like and dislike. And we learn lots of things from each other since we have different background knowledge of stuff.

1} incorporate eacother in the group discussion.
2} try not to leave anyone out and always follow the rules.
3} talk about the topic and try not to lose track of what your supposed to be doing.

I like working in groups because I could ask people for help if i don't understand something.the other reason I want to sit in groups because we could help each other. The 3rd reason I like to sit in groups because I could talk people when im bored.

What I like about working in groups are you can ask questions share your thoughts and ideas you can hear other people's ideas to.
It's fun working in groups because you can have do much fun but some time it can get to loud and noisy.
Working in groups is nice because you can talk to people that you don't talk to that much.

I like working in groups because you learn what other people's ideas on what they have to suggest and how they have teamwork. The only problem is, I can't blow a balloon... I've been trying to blow one but it doesn't even budge. I will do my best to help our group be successful.

1.) Share some ideas and try if they work.
2.) Encourage each other/Help each other.
3.) Good communication skills (don't be shy to talk).

I like working in groups because if you are doing a project you can get a lot of ideas and you won't be stuck with one another reason is that when you need help with something they can help you and you don't have to call for the teacher anf you get a chance to get to know more about the people that are in your group
