Today, the mood of everyone was influenced by the weather. It was a gloomy day and it showed on everyone's faces in the morning. Luckily, Mr. Hong was enthusiastic and energetic enough to get everyone motivated to learn about the exciting topic of mathematical rotations! WOOT! WOOT! Keep that energy going tonight when you complete your review questions and prepare for tomorrow's quiz! Post any questions you have here.

1.) MATH:

Complete the mid chapter review questions for Chapter 7.
Mark your own work at home.
Watch this video to review.
I will answer any questions in class before your quiz tomorrow. Post any questions you have here.
Quiz tomorrow on translations, reflections, and rotations. You must be able to describe each of the transformations listed.

2.) SOCIAL STUDIES:

Feel free to work on your projects at home. Here is a link to the draft criteria sheet for your 'Project'. It will be completed for you tomorrow. It is in draft form right now.
Post any questions you have here.

3.) ART / PHOTOGRAPHY:

You will share your alpphabet photography in class tomorrow. Make sure you have uploaded all your photos to a folder on Google Drive.
Share it with Mr. Hong tonight if you haven't already done so.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Focus on tonight's homework. Use tonight's PAR to help one another answer any questions you have about math, photography, and social studies.

@ Logan - There is an app, but the website works better if you are using a computer.

Here, I'm happy to help!

1. Create a shape with four vertices, all in the 1st quadrant. Label the vertices using letters and coordinates. Describe a translation that would result in each image vertex being in a different quadrant.

2. Plot the points A (-1,-2), B (-4,2), C (0,0), D (4,7), and E (3,-5) on a Cartesian coordinate system.
3. Write the letter of the point in question 2 that matcheseach description.
a) located at the origin c) farthest to the right
b) in the 2nd quadrant d) lowest

4. a) Draw ABC, with vertices A (0,0), B (4,0), and C (0,3).
b) Translate ABC 6 units to the left and 2 units up. Determine the coordinates of the image vertices.
c) Reflect ABC across the x-axis. Determine the coordinates of the image vertices.

5. (I'm sorry I couldn't provide the information here, you need to have the textbook to answer number five :/)

INTRODUCTION
Agriculture is the planting and harvesting of crops.
Agriculture can also be found as

Horticulture, the art or practice of garden cultivation
And Floriculture, the cultivation of flowers

Agriculture is extremely diverse and is very different in other regions.
Blueberries are a major crop in many parts of Canada,
So is wheat, oat and of course, Maple syrup.

HARVESTING
The harvesting of crop(s) is focused mainly on the growth and health of the seed.

The first step is Crop Selection, the process of choosing the best crop for your farm.

Then the next step is Seed Selection, choosing the best seed of the best crop.

Next comes Irrigation, the method of using an exact amount of water so you don't waste it.

Plant growth is next, in which the long wait benefits you.

And finally, Harvesting. Pretty self explanatory.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Negative impacts
Harvesting the crops has an impact on the earth, such as cutting down trees for wood, and over-planting.

Positive impacts
The great thing about agriculture, is that it benefits not only you, but the animals too!
When you plant a berry bush, bears can eat them before winter so they don't starve, so can other animals like wolves and apes.

SUSTAINABILITY
The methods of planting in modern days are very effective!
After you harvest a crop you can plant another one after, and do the same after that plant, and so on. As long as we keep up this level of growth in BC we will be able to keep on planting for centuries!
