Tuesday: Ice Skating at the Cloverdale Arena

Three of the Combined Gr.6/7 Classes had an opportunity to visit the Cloverdale Arena today. This allowed the students to do some community building. As you can see from the photo, the students had an amazing time ice skating with their peers from the other classes. Happy learners are eager learners!

1.) MATH 6: Complete your class work from today. Make sure you have your paper estimates/calculations and your updated spreadsheets in class tomorrow. Any other assigned work.
MATH 7: Any assigned work.

2.) WRITE A RESPONSE: What is one thing that you want to learn about this term and why? Give a detailed response with at least 2-3 points to support why you want to learn about your particular topic? For example, "I want to learn more about computer programming and how to create my own app because........"

I would want to learn how to make a computer. Because first I would want to make it a gaming computer. Because I like to play games on a computer, and second I would want to is because I would hopefully make lots of money.

I want to learn about mechanics firstly because when I grow up I want to be an engineer, and to be a engineer you have to be really good at math, algebra and mechanics. The reason I picked mechanics is because you learn algebra in high school and I am already learning about some types of math so that is the first reason why. The second reason why is it comes interesting to me and fun to build stuff because I use to be really good at Lego ad building
stuff. The last reason why is it can apply to all kinds of mechanics like a car mechanic well, if you have studied a certain type of mechanics you can pretty much build anything.

I would really like to learn how to use money responsibly. Because everytime I get money I have to use like right away that is bassiclly what my mind says. Like every cool thing I see I want it but I know I dont need it so yea something I would like to learn is how to controll money and spending it on something I need not want.

This term in 2013 I want to learn how to create a game/app for mobile devices uses programs such as Xcode. Why do I want to learn about this specific topic? That's because I am really interested in electronics and it's fun. You can be creative in your game, you can actually do whatever you want! And after my game/app goes in the TOP 25 FREE in the App Store and Play Store, I will make it cost money and get paid. Maybe I should even create another app. You never know what you can do with your own app.

@ Lio - Your entrepreneurial spirit is awesome! I think you and some others in the class should learn all about X-Code and we should make an app! Let's do this! ;) Of course, it will be a non-profit app since it is for school but you will learn skills that will help you become rich and famous! :)

I want to learn how to make an app because I think it would be cool to have your own app, I would probably make it free to start because it would be my first time owning my own app. I also want to learn more about technology because I don't really know that much.:P

in this term I would really want to learn more about the possibility's of interactive technology that can help you learn.

I chose to learn about this is because, so far we (as in me and the class) have gone pretty far in our interactive technology projects am I right? but what if we could use something like we are doing so far and make our work go even further with more options to improve our work like new sites that can give us new ways to use the tech and in a fun way to.

I also want to learn about this because then it would be way more simple, and what I am trying to get across is that then if we don't know the definition of a word or don't know what it means that you could look it up on the internet and not only that but it saves time.

The final reason why I would like to learn about it this term is because in google drive to store upload and you can even use it at a friends house on the go or pretty much anywhere and if you are sick then you could catch up on projects by working with friends or classmates without being in class.

This term I would like to learn how to make a movie
I chose to learn about this because so far this year we have done a lot do to with technology and so I would like to go deeper in by making a movie
I also want to learn about this because it is a fun way to entertain people and well It would be cool to make a real movie
The last reason I would like to learn about it this term is because movie are a fun way to scare, make people laugh, or even make people cry

Like a few others I would like to learn how to make an app. I think it would be cool to make a game or another type of app so other peope can use it. And if I made it a paid app I maybe could make money off of it if people like it. And it wil help me learn more about technoogy because I will be using computer programs to make the app.

I would like to learn how to draw a lot better, and one meat I would hopefully make money off my art.

Second of I had spare time I could do some drawing.

Third I would actually not fail at every drawing I try doing. For example, I would not be able to draw a cat unless it looked like a 6 legged dog.

For my New Years resolution I would like to learn to draw a lot better than I do now. I would like to be able to draw a animal. For example, cat dog fish mouse, etc. because if I actually try to draw any animal at all it will look horrible. And I would like to draw on my spare time, I would not read a book on spare time because that is just plain boring.

What would you chose to do on your spare? Would you, Draw? Or would you read a Book?

I would like to learn how to create my own app because I have always wanted to make an app and I was wondering how I could make one. I would like to make my own app because it would be super cool and other people can download the app just to enjoy it. If I made an app it would probably be a gaming app or a make up/nails or hair tutorials! I would try to make it as entertaining as possible.

@ Judy - There seems to be a few students who want to learn how to do this. Check out 'HACKETYHACK' for some basic programming info and we'll talk more about the app creation in class. It requires 'X-CODE'.

One thing I would want to learn about is how to use money responsibly because when i get asked to go to a store i would usually say yes and buy lots of junk that I don't even need, mostly because I like candy. Also when I see chocolate or something like that I would usually want to get it because that is what I want not need.

The one thing I want to learn this term, is how to make clay animation. I just thought it would be fun and a really neat way to test out our art skills. I have never tried before but I want to. To start off, I want to learn how to use it, and make one at the same time because It would be a nice medium to use in some projects. Next, I thought it would be nice to do a group activity going to make maybe a "Tv episode" kind of thing of division 4. A show I used to watch when I was little was Pingu and that was claymation, so it would be interesting to see the result. Finally, I want to learn how to use it to see if it has potential in using in my future projects. Plus, it would be nice to use in a high school project if we got to choose what we do! It's better though to learn things younger, that way you can test it out if it works, how well it works, etc.

Anyways, I thought it might be fun! :p

For this term I would like to learn about mechanical engineering because firstly the car is responsible for global warming and if you learn about mechanics we can learn how to make it more safe for the environment, secondly I would like to learn about mechanics because I am usually interested in cars and it would be nice if I could learn more about it.

The one thing that I wanted to learn this term is how to make my own app, I think that it would be fun and creative and a really interesting thing to do. The reason why I would wan to do this is because you can make the game anything you want it to be like a track and field app.We could probably make a app of division 4! each person would have there own character.

This term, what I really want to learn/do, is different types of art work. The reason is, is that I want to be better at art and get a better grade in it on my report card. Also, it will help me in the future with plenty of things. For example, lets say you are good at digital art, you can become an architect.

I would like to learn about making different types of programming because if you know how to start AI codes (Artificial Intelligence), you can create a vast selection of video games. Learning about this would be a great experience because you get to do and make what you love and as a bonus, you get to make people smile through the modern art of this world. This world could change on how we do things, either through the internet or face-to-face, we will all learn.

Like princesa, Lio, Oreo, Hello Kitty, G Heffley, Judy Moody and Minnie Mouse, I would like to learn how to make an app of our own. We could start making games and other things. We could split in groups and each group make an app or make an app all together. I would like to make an app because I thought it would be fun to pool our talents and make a best selling game or application. Like whoever is good at drawing will draw whatever needs to be drawn, and so on with other things. The reason I thought it would be good to split into groups is because some people want to make a Barbie app or whatever and some people want to make a car racing game.
