Today, most of the class presented their ecosystem's photo essays. After starting their presentations, many of them noticed something very important. Some students not only noticed that they hadn't followed the criteria closely enough and they also self-assessed their presentations and were able to find ways to improve on them. Once everyone has completed their first presentation, they will all have an opportunity to act on their self-assessments and the feedback provided to them to improve their original photo essays.

1.) FIELD TRIP:

We will be taking public transportation tomorrow. Please dress for the weather.
We are planning on leaving the school at 9am so be sure to be in the class by 8:50am at the latest.
Two students have yet to return their forms and $8. Please make sure you do this tomorrow.
Bring a lunch and/or money to buy your lunch.
Don't forget your COMPASS CARD or bus fare.

2.) MATH:

Complete pg 49 Questions 11-15 for Friday. Mark your answers at home using your answer keys and we will review the questions you find challenging in class.
If you have any questions, post them here.
GAME: PECKING ORDER <----PLAY THIS GAME AND POST WHAT YOU LIKED ABOUT IT.

3.) SCIENCE:

Lab write-ups are due on Friday. Post any question you have here. If you need the lab write-up file or the adapted lab write-up, go back to a few days ago as it was posted there.

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

You have been learning how to do different exercises in gymnastics during PE. Today, you were given a self-assessment sheet to check to see if you were able to complete the different exercises.
List 2 exercises you found most challenging and list the reasons why you found these the most challenging.
How will you work towards being able to complete these exercises? List 3 steps you will take to work towards mastering these skills.
Ask one student a question about their post.
Edit/revise you original post by adding 3-5 adjectives that make it more descriptive.

The excersises I struggled with were the flips on the rings and bars. I think I found these challenging because I'm too scared to atcually do them and I feel like I might hurt myself. To achive my goal I will try to practice as much as I can by maybe going to a playground with bars and just practicing during gymnastics while I have the opportunity to.

@Mr.Hong- For the lab write up, it says 'Problem, hypothesis, question or phenomenon' what does it mean by that. do we have to explain one of them or all of them?

@ May - What was the original question you were investigating? Do you remember the poster that is posted at the front of the classroom with all the sub questions? Why did we make an ecosystem and study it? What were we originally investigating?

I thought the new thing we learned for the bars (forgot what it was called) and chin ups are difficult for me. I will try to improve my core and arm strength by doing chin holds and sit ups/ push ups.

Pullover was really challenging because it was the first time I did it and I couldn't pull myself over the bars without support.
Flank vault was basically not going happen because I was too scared and hesitant to jump over and I think it's pretty high.

For the pullover I think I should
1.) Try to practice to hold myself when trying to kick over
2.) Then try to kick higher
3.) Attempt to do it when I think I can reach the top of the bar
For the flank vault I think I should
1.) Jump over shorter vaults
2.) Move onto higher faults when I can do the shorter ones
3.) Keep trying until I think I'm ready

For the fractions I like how it doesn't let you put the bird on the line until you got it in the right spot

@ Vivian - That is immediate feedback the game is giving you. If you don't place it in the correct spot, you know you have to find the right place on the number line.

So the only thing I found challenging was the flank vault because I am too short and that thing was very tall.

I think the rings and the bar flipping thing is challenging. Probably because I am to scared and i cant bring myself upside down. Or I don't have enough arm strength to do it. I will try to improve my arm strength and try harder on flipping and or going upside down.

I found the thing where you pull yourself over the bar the hardest and cart wheels. Well I found these things the hardest because I can't do them. For the cart wheel I can't keep my legs straight and for the pull over I can't even do it when I have the wall.

Steps on how I can improve my cart wheels
1- Keep my legs straight
2- Practice more
3- Don't give up
Steps on how I can improve the thing where I pull myself over the bar
1- Use more strength
2- Try a different grip on the bar
3- Keep on trying

I found the cartwheel and rope climbing hard because...
Cartwheel: I don't know... It's just hard!
Rope climbing: HOW DO YOU EVEN MOVE WITHOUT A ROPE BURNNN

I guess I could...
1: practice a lot
2: Look on youtube to see how others do it
3: Ask some friends

I just tried the game...
It was meh I guess. I liked the birds though XD The owls were the cutest!

The hardest thing was the chin ups because I weigh about 120 pounds. :-( The other hard thing was push ups because being heavy is bad for that too.

The game was sort of fun.35/35

The math game was okay, I like how it tells you if you got something
wrong. But it was boring.
The handstand is the hardest, because my arm strength can't support my body, I'm weak( this doesn't mean I'm not awesome), and I'm bad at balancing. I will work hard on the spider crawl, or whatever it was called to improve on this. The cartwheel was also hard, because my waist is all fat. So I'll just keep on practicing to get better.

I'm definitely not posting the day after...
Yeah, okay I am.
Honestly one of the things I find hardest is the v-sit on the weird wobbly blue thing. My balance is super... 'awesome' (note the heavy sarcasm).
To get better I could:
1. Use my hands to try and keep from rolling of sideways, until I get better.
2. Do exercises to improve my balance
3. Try and concentrate more

Another thing I'd like to work on is climbing the rope. I can do it once but struggle the next because my stamina is also 'awesome'.
To get better I can:
1. Not give up the moment I start feeling tired
2. Do exercises to improve my stamina
3. Do exercises to improve my arm strengh

And yes, It was a pretty nice game.

For gymnastics I found doing a pullover and doing cartwheels difficult. The reason why I find it difficult to do a cartwheel is that I’m hesitant on what I’m going to do. Doing the pullover with the wall seemed easy to me, but I couldn’t do it without the wall unless I had assistance from the gymnastics teacher.

Steps to try and do a cartwheel:
1) Try not to hesitate as much
2) Focus on doing it correctly
3) Practice

Steps on improving the pullover:
1) Jump higher
2) Try to pull myself over the bar
3) Focus on trying to get it done

The exercises I struggled with are doing a cartwheel and climbing rope

Steps to improve my cartwheel
1.) practice
2.) watch other people do it maybe
3.)take your time doing it not rushing it?

Steps to improve climbing ropes
1.) practice my climbing
2.) get stronger so it can be easier for me to climb
3.) focus on doing it instead of doing something else in the middle of practicing

1: The move I found hard would be cartwheels because I cant even lift my legs all the way up. The next move that I found hard to do would be..... the Candle hang. Its hard to do. I try to push myself but its like a war in my body. One half wants to do it the other half holds me back.

2; Cartwheel: I will keep on practicing my cartwheels by giving myself a goal to achieve and practice somewhere.....

Goal For Cartwheel: I will practice my cartwheels everyday and I will not improve my fear.

Candle hang: I will look towards achieving this candle hang by practicing my handstands and pullovers and set a goal to achieve.

Goal For Candle hang: I will achieve this by practicing my handstands and pullovers for these two sessions of gym left.

3: @Eknoor Why do you have to be off task and have conversations instead of doing the post isn't what this is for?

I found doing the cartwheel was really hard. Im not really good at balancing so that is the reason why I suck at it. Also the straddle hang ( I think thats what its called ) is hard because you have to hold your legs out strait in front which is really hard for me to do. 3 things i will do to improve on it.
1) Keep doing it.
2) Get stronger
3) not rushing and taking my time.

My score was 32/35. I found the bird sounds in the game really annoying, but it was pretty fun. I would give the game a 8/10.

I think the flips on the bars and rings are challenging except for the rollovers because I’m afraid I’ll hurt myself like I did two years ago. The only reason why I can do rollovers is because I’ve done them a lot before. The next time I do the flips, I’ll try not to hesitate and think about it because the more I think about it the more I feel like I can’t do it. I will also try to practice doing somersaults because they are similar to the flips, so if I get better at somersaults, my flips will get better too. The last thing I will do is practicing going upside down because I always think I will fall over, fall off, hit my head, or let go of the bar when I go upside down in the flips.

I found the chin ups and rope climbing the hardest. For rope climbing, I could barley get on the rope...
To improve for both I'll...
1) Eat healthier
2) Lose weight
3) PRACTICEEEEE

I didn't really like the game. I somehow found it stressing... (Don't judge) I'll give it 7/20

In gymnastics I found climbing ropes hard because I don’t have enough strength on my arms. I think I can improve by:
1: Practice when I have the opportunity to at gymnastics
2: Don’t give up
3: Practice more skills that helps strengthen my arm
