WEDNESDAY: SITA'S LIFE IN NEPAL

A Day in the Life of Rodel #circlegraph

Today, students learned more about different cultures. They read a story about a girl named Sita. She is an 11 year old girl who lives in the mountainous regions of Nepal. Although the students share some similarities with Sita, many aspects of their lives are different. We compared the similarities and differences on the board and with a class discussion. Some students mentioned that Nepal, being a developing country, is experiencing what Canadians must have experienced many years ago. Some students feel that Canada is a much more developed country compared to Nepal because many things that Sita does on a daily basis seemed quite primitive. Some students could not imagine life without their iPods and video games. Do you think you could live in Nepal like Sita does?

I think that if me and Sita switched places it would be really different. First of all, I think that if I were in Sita's place I would hate her life. She seems pretty lonely and all she does is work. She doesn't get any time to have some fun. If Sita was in my shoes I think she would feel uncomfortable for her since she isn't used to seeing large buildings, technology, and modern things. I wouldn't be so uncomfortable with the life she has because in Sri Lanka there is rice paddies everywhere because rice is our main food source. My mom used to wake up early in the morning like Sita and since she owned a farm she had to take care of the crops and rice fields. I'm not trying to say that it would be easy to live in Sita's life because I don't think it would be easy.

If I switched places with Sita it will not be pretty.
Why well because I'll probably do my chores just that I will probably take the shortcut way, and second I'll probably take a loan from the bank to travel to the U.S. not Canada for certain reasons. Thrid I'd probably cry myself to sleep every night.

If Sita was in my shoes she'd feel like the king of the jungle. My family will drowned her with love like they do to me. Second when the first day of school comes for her she would probably restart from grade one no offence. Third it is not that easy to be a city person because their are a lot of shady people.

In conclusion Sita should stay in her shoes other wise she's gonna get hurt amotinaly and fiscally and I should stay my shoes for the same reason.

Honestly if I were to switch places with Sita I wouldn't be so different. Why do I say this you ask? I say this because my grandparents used to own a rice arm in the Philippines and I lived there or half a year, now they own a chicken farm, not that different. But I admit that I wont like sleeping early, planting, fetching the water, and all those other things. But those things would teach me how it would be like to fend for myself.(sorta)

If Sita were me I think she would be kinda greatfull, because I kinda have a boring life, but I think Sita would consider my life very...... comfortable. Not to mention all the technology I have like my phone, iPad, ect. She would probably like where I live, and love to go to school. I am not 100% sure that she would like all this stuff because, the book said nothing about her personality. I am just saying this if she was like me. Although I know for sure that she would hate having my older sister, Nobody would.

And that my good people of the internet is what I think what it would be like if me Sita switched places.

If I where to switched places with Sita, life will be very strange and akward, it will be very painful and tiring. The thing I think about Sita is she never hear of technolegy (like Computers, tablets, etc) so what she does know she thinks its better than the other stuff she knows in her opinion. Now if we where to take Sita's place we have already expierenced the "tech generation" as I recall it, so we will have a hard time coping with it.

If Sita changed places with me it will be really akward for her. For example she was probaly doing the routine she does for years and years so she will so she will wake up and feel akward doing what she is doing because she never done it in her life. Personly for me when I have done something I have never done before in my life I would feel very wierd/akward so I can understand being in Sita's situation.

Now overall I think that being in Sita's spot for me will be akward because I never expierenced it before and it Sita was in my spot she will feel akward aswell because she has never expierenced that. In addition to that Nepal's landscape will be way different than ours with mount Everest, rocky climate. i have to say that'll be pretty cool!!

MORE WORK! thats what I would say if I switched places with stella.
when you think about what stella does i you grew up like that it would probably be super fun because you can have cool animals for pets but if you went from an environment like we have today to what stella has, I would hate it. The reason for this is because I have so many things like friends and the internet and It would take me a long time to learn to live without is because it is all part of my daily life.

If stella switched places with us then she doesn't even have the knowledge of what life is like for us so she would be overwhelmed and would want to go home.

If i were to switch places with Sita, I would feel really tired everyday of doing the harvest, gathering water, and taking care of barn animals everyday. I probably would not like it one bit LOL

If Sita switched places with me I think she would love it a lot because she does not have to do as much work as us. She would feel very clean and gets good water and food. She would probably beg to stay in my spot.

If I had to live in Nepal I would probably hate it and wish I was in B.C every day. I would wake up every morning at 5:00 am and fall back asleep and wake up when my chickens start screeching for food. So I get out of bed and feed my chickens and collect there eggs then I go make eggs and rice for breakfast. Then I water my rice paddy and collect any rice that is ready. After that I feed my oxen and take them to get water from the stream. By then it will be around 12:30 pm so I catch a fish for lunch and one for dinner. Then I put one fish in a basket of melting ice and the other on a burning rock. then I walk farther to collect some fodder. after I get enough I give some to my oxen and walk back to the stream. By then it's been 1 hour since I left the fish there and its now cooked so I pick the bones out and take out the guts and eat the meat. Now I walk back home and its about 3:30 pm. I water my rice paddy's and feed my chickens and go inside to make dinner. After I make dinner it's 4:30 pm and I sit in my hammock outside while I wait for my mom and dad to get home from selling eggs at the market. My parents are finally home at 5:15 pm and we eat the rice and fish that I made earlier. after talking to my parents for a while I go to bed early from the exhausting day at around 7:30 pm.

If Sita switched places with me she would probably be scared because she has never seen so many people and big building and cars. She would probably be so happy at the same time though because she doesn't have to take her whole day just getting food. She would be confused with all the technology and she probably would be frustrated with school because she doesn't speak English well and she never went to school before. She would probably think were lazy but lucky at the same time. She would probably not like a lot of the food we eat either but she is happy she doesn't eat rice all the time.

If I went into Sita's life I would probably be confused because I don't know how to farm. If she came into my life I think it would be the same because she wouldn't know my routine.

If I unexpectedly went into Sita's life, First, I would be totally confused. Its not like everyday you switch bodies with a random person . I think I would just be like totally weird for about 2 hours because I don't know what's going on. Once I gain some sense I will probably still be confused because I don't know this persons background story is, how her life goes, who she is friends with, what her routine is or anything she does. If she came into my body I think she would be the same but times 10. This is because in our world you rely a lot on electronics. Witch they don't have. So in conclusion I think both of us would be scared, worried and confused.

If I was in Sita's shoes I would die, but on the bright side I would also get a good workout. "ALSO, 2 HOURS TO GET FOOD!" I get tired from walking up the stairs and you expect me to walk 2 hours to get food for animals? To get food for the animals, I would get a wood cart and a oxen and bring a bunch of the food back. Okay a 45 minute walk to get water after a 2 hour walk geez. I would make hooks attached to the harnesses to put the buckets or pales on so I could get more water.

If Sita was in my shoes she would be in a world of hurt, because she would have to take a 5 minute walk to school almost everyday. Also, it would be really hard to wrap your head around cars, cell phones, computers, T.V. and more. She would also need to take a 5 second walk to the fountain to get water.To get food for those animals of hers she could take a 10 minute walk or a 3-4 minute drive to a pet store to get food.

In conclusion, I'm not going to step into any one else's shoes for a long time!

If I switched places with Sita I would be really tired and all the work will be really hard because it is on a daily basis, and Sita works all day every day. I would wake up really early like 3:00 AM. Then I would do my chores and gather food and water for my family. It would be really hard but if I would wake up early I would get more time to do those things. Also I would have more time to feed my family.

If Sita switched places with me it would so much easier because there is grocery stores every where technology every where. It would be even more quick to gather supplies. Also Sita would live a better life. Because there is everything you would need in life all around you. Then Sita can learn more stuff about education. Also doing the chores will be so much more quicker because you have a vaccum, a mop, a duster, then after that you will have a clean house. Then Sita will be able to get a good career. So that's what I think if Sita switched places with me.

If me and Sita switched places i would have been scared and so will she. If I was in here place i would have gotten more fit because I had to do more work like her. I would have been scared because I would have no idea where I was.

If sita switched places with me I bet she would be very scared more scared than me she would not under stand how to use everything maybe miss her parents and home will not know what every thing is like a sing phones and computer. she would not know where everything is like food water and health care like a hospital

If I switched lives with Sita, I would be very confused and it would be hard for me to get used to her routine. I would get very tired, very easily because I usually don't spend my days doing chores or hard work I would most likely be on my laptop or reading. Also it would be very confusing for me because I don't know how she would do things like planting rice from rice paddies.

If Sita switched lives with me, she would be very confused also, and she would have to get used to all this new technology. She would have to learn how to use a laptop, t.v, or phone and she would have to get used to sitting around all day doing homework. Although it would be nicer if she had a break from all her hard work, I still think she might find being in my shoes hard for her.

In conclusion, I think that we both equally have to try and get used to one another's life. Even though my life would be a lot easier than Sita's, she would have a hard time because she's just so used to her routine that she doesn't know what to do. I know how it feels to do something completely different and new, and trust me, it's hard.

How would you feel if you switched lives with a different person? Will you feel different? The same? Today I'm going to be talking to you how would my life be if I got switched with Sita, and how will Sita feel if she switched her life with me. Firstly, I would feel different without school because, I go to school each day exept for Saturday and Sunday. Secondly, I feel differrent picking crops fresh from the ground to eat instead of going to a supermarket. Thirdly, I will feel different without technology because I would be doing farm work for at least 14 hours in Nepal, fourthly, I will different getting water from a well instead of getting water from stores and our house.

If Sita switched her life with me, she would probably feel different too. Why? Firstly, she will feel different getting water from stores instead of getting water from a well. Secondly, she will feel different getting food from a store rather than picking and growing food from the ground. Lastly, she will feel different going to school instead of working most of the day.

It would probably be so much easier because you wouldn't have to get up so early or worry about having to feed the animals because my mom feeds the animals. For example she also wouldn't have to get rice paddies all she would have to is have fun.

I think if Sita and I switched places if would be difficult and hard for each other, for example she gets up incredibly early and I get up closer to 7 AM also she doesn't go to school but she works really hard with the farm and the last one she walks really forward to get water and feed the animals where I only have to walk to the fridge to get water at closet to get food for my cat.

If Sita switch places with me and she's not living my life I think she would have a lot more rest because more hours to sleep, wouldn't have to walk an hour and a half to get water there and back she would have to do a lot less and just generally have a lot less stress on what she had to do every day and have more time for herself.

I wonder what it would be like to live Nita's life. I would have a much harder time because I wm used to the somewhat luxurious lifestyle of someone in a first world country/developed country. I would take longer to do the physical work since I am unused to it. Because of that I would have a longer work day/less sleep. I would become sleep deprived and if I didn't adapt to that environment I would probably collapse from exhaustion a lot effecting my neurological health.

If Nita moved here to a family that can properly provide for her she would likely be shocked. A major factor is that there is little to no work for her compared to in Nepal where her entire day is work as shown in the graph in the textbook. Another factor would be education, I noticed Nita does not have a proper and/or official education in Nepal while school in Canada is free courtesy of the taxpayers so she would have trouble adjusting to the school environment. And lastly food, food is easily accessible in Canada, the only people who live of of the land are First Nations and Amish so she would have to come to terms that if you want food you walk to a store and give them some money. That is what I think, please feel free to coment shared and different opinions in the comments.

If I were to switch places with Sita I would probably be really tired because I have to wake up early in the morning and do hard chores and work. Also I would be confused because I do not know how to plant or get food for animals.

If Sita changed places with me she would be confused by all the technology we use. She has to learn how to use devices. Also she has to go to school for 6 hours, and work on home works. She might think it is boring. On the other hand it would be lot easier because she do not have to go get some clean water, or have to do the hard chores like get food for animals.

If I swiched places with sita I would feel very sad because all of my freinds are in canada. I would feel isolated from civilization and lonely. I would be tired because I usually sit 5 hours a day in a desk and I dont work all day like her.

I think that sita would feel confused at our lifestyle because we dont contrubute to our family as much as she does. She would like the opportunity to go to school and learn new things not just farming techniques. She would be amazed at how many buildings are around.

I think that if I switched places with Sita I would not enjoy myself. I think this because it would be hard for me to adjust with no technology and having to do work all day. I think it would be hard to live without technology because I rely on it to help me get through my day. I also think that it would be very hard to work as hard as she does and as long as she does.

If I were Sita were in my shoes, I think that she would be really suprised. I think this because she has to do work for a really long time while we have to do less work because most things that she has to do in Nepal on the farm is already done for us here in Canada. For example, she has to get water, collect eggs, etc. Here in Canada, we already have water, and eggs/food already in the fridge. Sita probably wouldn't know what to do with herself since she usually has so much work. To conclude, I think that Sita would enjoy our life since she would have a lot of free/fun time.

I think if I switched places this is how my day will look like. I wake up in the morning I brush my teeth and eat breakfast then I go to the field on the east side to get food for cows.The farm is on the other side. Then i go to the rice pates and stay thee for the rest of the day.

If she was living the life we live she will do the same things because she does it every day so this is what her day will look like. I wake up eat and go do chores and play outside. I go clean the house plant food (if any one have food or make a farm). Then help out around the house be doing little things such as picking up garbage.

If I were to switch places with Sita it would be only a little different, I would be very tired and busy because of working 8 hours a day.
But I do things similar, I get up and feed my dogs and cats.

If Sita came to my house and we switched places she would either be very happy that she could relax or she would miss being busy.

If I switched places with Sita it would suck. You would have to get up at 5 am every morning to feed the animals and get food for your self. It would also hard because their is no technology to use or play on such as iPods,tractors and fridges. You also need to plow the rice paddies and move them to the bigger patch.

If Sita came her she would not know what technology is and what to do with it. She would not know that she does not have to get water from a well. She would think to feed animals at 5 am every day and go get food. Sita would go harvest food in the and plant it.

That would be very hard, I would regret ever being born, I think everyone would because they wouldn't get all this modern technology which would be an advantage over the poor, we get all these different varieties of foods from practically all over the world, and even books and education, which is very very important.

Other than that, I think Sita would have the life of a lifetime, which means no deals with the gods for her and just nice future technology, new transportation, foods, and much more stuff. But I wonder how well she would handle school, that would mean she would be more educated though and hopefully in the future she'd get a job.

If i switched life with Sita I wouldn't like that life. She seems lonely and works hard and has no fun. I would feel tired at the end of the day.

In today's society we have a lot of freedom and technology. I think if Sita were here she would be overwhelmed with everything here as she would not be able to relate to our lifestyle. Also she is not used to going to school.

I would be bored of all that work and no play. It would take a long time to great used to that lifestyle .

I think that if I switched places that life would be hard work. It looks like most people don't go to school but instead work all day. I think I would not have many friends because there would be no time for fun and playing games.

If Sita came here I think she would probably get picked on at school because she wont know as many things because she never went to school. I also think that she would be angry with what we have like our tv's because she didn't have much.
