THE LEARNING NEVER STOPS

We hit the ground running on Monday morning and got right into our learning. There hasn't been a dull moment in our classes this week because we have been busy with French, Science, Math, etc. We have many items that are due on Friday. Please be sure to keep up with your daily work and use your time management skills to do a little bit of work every day so you don't leave it until the last management. #TheLearningNeverStops!!!

IMPORTANT: Basketball practice for Gr. 7's at 7:30am tomorrow morning. Come prepared.

1.) LA:

Continue working on your essay. Your draft is due on Friday.
Go to FreshGrade and add your essay shared link from Google Docs to the 'ESSAY' activity. Be sure to give me access to 'edit' with this link.

2.) SCIENCE: Lab write-ups are due on Friday!

3.) FRENCH:

French Quiz on Friday!
3 Phrases (J'aime....., J n'aime pas....., and J'aime beaucoup......)

4.) WORD WORK: Forbidden City #1

5.) POST A RESPONSE:

REMEMBER - REPORT CARDS ARE COMING!

In paragraph form:

SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) What is the effect of removing something from an ecosystem?
2.) What is the effect of reintroducing something into an ecosystem?
3.) What could happen if you changed something in your ecosystem project? (Include at least 2
examples)
- For example, what if you stopped adding water? What if your ecosystem didn't receive any
sunlight? What if you took out all the soil? Etc.
4.) Pay attention to the givens - spelling, capitals, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, etc
5.) Give one other student some feedback on the criteria above.
6.) EDIT/REVISE

REPORT CARDS ARE COMING!

Today, students really buckled down and made some headway on their lab write ups for their Ecosystems inquiry projects. We reviewed the learning intentions and the success criteria for their lab write-ups. Students know exactly what the expectations are and we are expecting them to all receive an 'EXTENDING' on their work. Lab write-ups are due on Friday and you will have plenty of time to work on it in class. In French, students continued building their background knowledge with new nouns and learned how to conjugate verbs.

IMPORTANT: SYNERGY TEST AT CHURCHILL TOMORROW!

1.) READING: 20 minutes.

2.) WRITING:

Continue working on your essay.
All students should have completed their intro paragraphs and 3 body paragraphs by now.

3.) FRENCH:

Watch this video and sing to this amazing song!

4.) SCIENCE:

Continue working on your lab. If you spend a little time working on it tonight, you will have no problem completing it by Friday.

5.) POST A RESPONSE:

In paragraph format, write about your experience learning how to complete your lab write-up:
SUCCESS CRITERIA:

1.) Engaging hook, body, and conclusion.
2.) How did you know what you had to include in your write up?
3.) What was easy to do as you got started?
4.) What has been one of the challenging things you experienced today while writing your lab
write-up.
5.) What is something you are unsure about?
6.) Check for the givens: spelling, capitals, grammar, sentence structure, and vocabuary.
7.) Ask one other student that you don't normally ask a questions to about their post. Do not ask
your close friends.
8.) Self-assess your work for all points above and edit/revise your work.

Learning how to use spreadsheets to create graphs.

Today was the first day back from the winter break. The students got right back into the swing of things and it was as if they hadn't missed a beat! Because they are so familiar with our C-Charts and the behavioural expectations, all students were self-regulated today. We built the base for their learning in term 1 and the students are now ready to move full steam ahead with their learning! We can't wait to see the learning thrive this term!

1.) READING: 30 minutes

2.) WRITING:

Continue working on essay. Respond to any feedback you have received from me or your peers.
We will go over different types of conclusions in class tomorrow.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Many of us make New Year's Resolutions in order to set goals and to make plans to move forward to achieve these goals.
In paragraph form, write about one goal you hope to achieve this year and steps you will take to achieve this goal.

SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Includes an engaging hook, body, and conclusion.
2.) List at least one goal you have set for yourself.
3.) Include at least 3 things you will do to achieve this goal and how you will do it.
4.) Ask one other student a question about their New Year's Resolution. Ask a student who hasn't
receive any questions yet.
5.) Give one student descriptive feedback based on the above criteria.
