Gr. 7 Celebration

Tomorrow is the Gr. 7 celebration. It will be a special day to celebrate your elementary school life and we will celebrate all your accomplishments! Remember to dress for the occasion. Your parents received an email with the agenda. The ceremony will start at 9:50am. Students arrive at school at the regular time. Lunch will be provided for students by JAPADOG! If your parents have any questions, they can email me directly. I hope you are all excited! Tomorrow will be an exciting day!

OWN IT!

Today, students had some time to work on their final powerful response documents. These will be due tomorrow! Final inquiry presentations will be due on Friday! We will be learning until the end! #TheLearningNeverEnds!

IMPORTANT:

LEARNING/PLANNER:
1.) LA/NOVEL APPROACH: Powerful response documents with T&L Questions and GOW due tomorrow.

2.) POST A RESPONSE:

We have been working on PARS the entire year! You have done a great job with it! Today, I want you to write a learning reflection about how you feel your writing has improved, what you have learned about the learning process (BIG 6), what you found worked well, what didn't work well, what could be better, etc.
LEARNING INTENTION: I can write an overall learning reflection on my experience this year with 'POST A RESPONSE' assignments.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:

1.) PARAGRAPH FORMAT: intro/body/conclusion
2.) GIVENS: Spelling, capitals, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation.
3.) BODY: Includes enough support to complete a proper learning reflection according to the
learning reflection criteria.
4.) SELF-ASSESSMENT: Give one sentence as a reply to your original paragraph stating if you
met the criteria or if you need to improve.
5.) PEER-ASSESSMENT: Give at least one other student feedback to improve.
6.) REVISION: Post your revised/improved version. This does not mean change a couple words or
simply copy and pasting what you wrote originally.

Today, students did a nature walk/run around Langara. They worked on isolating variables in math for algebra and dove deep into their research for their inquiry on belief systems.

IMPORTANT:
1.) SWIMMING FIELD TRIP: Return forms and pay fees online.

LEARNING/PLANNER:
1.) MATH: Complete first two pages of booklet.

2.) PAR: Holiday

IMMERSE

THE INQUIRY PROCESS

Students are deep into the 'IMMERSE' phase of the Novel Approach. They are researching their inquiry questions and are sharing what they learn with their knowledge building circles. It is amazing to see the ownership taking place. The students know how the inquiry process works and are putting together all aspects of their learning. Nice work everyone! In math, they continue to learn about algebra. In Novel Approach, they are starting to work on their powerful responses.

IMPORTANT:
1.) SWIMMING FIELD TRIP: return all forms and pay $5 online. If you are not attending, it is important that you notify Mr. Hong

LEARNING/PLANNER:
1.) NOVEL APPROACH: Start working on your powerful response.

2.) MATH: Finish your booklet and any other work assigned by Mr. Fisher.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Write about 2 things that you really enjoyed doing in Gr. 7. One can be learning related and the other supporting point can be about any extracurricular activity.
LEARNING INTENTION: I can write a structured paragraph and explain 2 things that I really enjoyed learning and doing at school this year.

ABC PHOTO COLLAGE

TENNIS

Today, students started the day with music and then had a chance to work on their ABC Photo collages. Because the district track meet was at Churchill, we were able to walk over and cheer everyone on. In the afternoon, we had our first tennis session and then ended the day by researching for our belief systems projects.

It's Been Nice Knowing You

Ms. Chung and Tim

Today, students 'IMMERSED' themselves in the inquiry process. They are diving deep into their new inquiry on belief systems and are learning lots. It is wonderful to see how they are owning their learning and know exactly how to do their research. In math, they continued to learn about algebra. In the afternoon, they continued their science lab on acids and bases. We ended the day off with the Novel Approach and a book club session.

IMPORTANT:
1.) ABC COLLAGE: Due Friday
2.) NOVEL APPROACH: Novels and packages must be completed by Friday.
3.) INQUIRY: Go public next Thursday (June 9th - tentative date)
4.) RETURN BOOKS: Return all library books and class books

LEARNING/PLANNER:
1.) MATH: Pg. 395-397 #1-4, 9 and 10 (Complete/mark/correct at home)

2.) ART: Work on your collage.

3.) POST A RESPONSE: Holiday
