Gr. 7 Memories

Today is your final PAR of Gr. 7! I want you to make this meaningful. Think back to the year you had. Think about the wonderful people you have met, the teachers you have had, and the friends that you made. What teams did you join? What classes did you enjoy? What projects did you enjoy? What did you enjoy about school? What will you remember about this school year that you will cherish for the rest of your life? I want to hear a heart felt response today. Show me what you got!
IMPORTANT:

Type your name on the day you choose and put the time you will arrive for drop off and pick up. Keep in mind, you will not be able to pick up your report card packages if you do not return your novels and your textbooks.

PAR:

Read the daily blurb.
Write a paragraph and send a message to your classmates and to your teachers about the memories you made this year! Use this PAR as a final send off as you head to further your education in high school!
After you write your paragraphs, read the responses and reply to your classmates with positive and kind messages to your classmates about what you will remember most about them! (BE KIND!) I wonder who will leave the most messages?

We are in our final week of school. This week will be making sure your FreshGrade is updated, your Teams is updated, and all your learning reflections have been updated. Use this time to really reflect on your learning from this past year. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them on the appropriate Teams channel or email me.

Library Books, novel approach books, and all school property must be returned in order to pick up your report cards.

Today, we have some important items that are due. Your Final Novel Approach work (Gift of Words, Thinking and Learning Questions, and Powerful response document) and your final Social studies inquiry projects. post both to Teams and FreshGrade. You should look at all presentations in your specific Teams channel and you must give each group member one positive comment and one item you think they could improve on for next time.

IMPORTANT:

Post your Social Studies projects to Teams and FreshGrade. Watch all presentations and give feedback based on instructions in your daily blurb.

You must ask 2 students questions about their response. Choose students who may not have received any questions yet.

I didn't receive any questions about the math yesterday, so I assume it went well and you understood everything from the lesson yesterday. Today, we will cover some basic algebra. I know Dennis and a few students are incredibly excited about this! We will learn about variables, expressions, equations, etc. I hope you're excited about the lesson today, because I am! Algebra is a fun and exciting way to solve questions for an unknown 'VARIABLE'.

We are in the home stretch! If all students give the 'EXTENSION' message a thumbs up on TEAMS, you will have until Friday to complete your NA and Social Studies projects. You have until 3pm today to give it a thumbs up. Let's see if all of you can band together as a class to get this extension! Today, you will watch some anti-racism videos and links. Please give today's PAR a good amount of time so you can review the videos and links I have provided to help you write your PAR today. This topic is a topic we should talk about much more often than it is discussed.

The #BlackLivesMatters movement has brought a very important topic into the spotlight in 2020. This is one of the best things that has come out of 2020.
Talking about race is important. We must talk about it from an early age and talk about it often. You should use the big 6 learning principles and your NA strategies to deepen your understanding of this topic.
Watch the posted video and write a meaningful paragraph based on the video and your background knowledge of race and discrimination.

SUCCESS CRITERIA:

You have made it this far, so don't stop now! #TheLearningNeverStops! We have two major assignments due this Wednesday! Keep working hard on Monday and Tuesday to get it all done. You will focus on your inquiry projects and your NA work this week! Produce your best quality work for your final assignments! FOCUS! :) Post all questions in the correct TEAMS channels if you have any.

The end of the year is quickly coming to a close. Can you believe we only have about 2 weeks left? How crazy is that? Who would ever have thought 2020 would have gone the way that it has? You started the year off strong and it appears you will end the year even stronger! You have come a long way as learners and I hope you will continue to embrace the Big 6 Learning Principles in your learning and everyday life as life-long learners. #TheLearningNeverStops!

IMPORTANT:
1.) Gr. 7 Yearbook Write-up and Gr. 7 year end survey from the PAC will need to be completed ASAP! This is priority #1! The link will be posted shortly.

You have several major assignments due by next Friday. You must complete your inquiry projects and your Novel Approach work. These are your two final assignments for Social Studies and LA. If you want to end the year off strong and improve your evaluations on your report cards, this is the time to do it! Stay motivated and let's end the year strong! Get all your work done, update your digital portfolios on FG, and keep on participating on TEAMS! Let's do this everyone!

Organize a time to meet with your BOOK CLUBS on a daily basis for 20-30 minutes.

It looks like we have rain in the forecast. Hopefully this gives you some time to update your FreshGrade portfolios, participate more on Teams, and produce quality work according to learning intentions and success criteria. We only have a few weeks left. Let's end the year off strong! Submit all assignments on time in order for me to assess/evaluate them to add them to your report cards! Let's do this everyone! Let's finish strong! Update your FreshGrade portfolios with evidence of your work and learning reflections. A big part of your participation evaluations will be coming from your participation in the daily PARS and on your TEAMS channels. The weekly newsletter will be posted later today. In the meantime, you should be doing this for today.

- All groups should be meeting on Mondays and Tuesdays at your set times if possible. 10am probably works for everyone on Monday and Tuesday since there are no longer any morning meetings/lessons on those days.
- Continue following your daily work schedule and online book clubs. Everyone must participate in your TEAMS channels. Students who do not participate online will not be able to receive applying or extending. This is required.

The learning process is something that will stick with you for your entire lives. The students who have been actively practicing the BIG 6 Learning Principles will undoubtedly thrive in all learning environments. For those students who have not been actively participating, I believe you can do better! This will ultimately help you in high school and beyond! Keep this in mind when you decide not to complete your assignments. I expect all students to 'TAKE OWNERSHIP' of your learning! Also keep in mind that if you want to improve on your repot card from last term, I need to see improvements in those specific subject areas.

Yesterday, students learned about circles! They learned how to measure radius, diameter, and circumference. However, most students did not follow all instructions. Students should physically measure the circumference of all their circles and then confirm this with a calculation. Please note, they will not be exact but should be very close in number. I must be able to see evidence of this in the image you upload. For example, a physical measurement and your actual calculation. Answers don't show your learning. SHOW AND DISPLAY YOUR LEARNING!
