VIDEO LINK: ![]() Today, students worked productively on creating topic sentences. I have never seen so many students so excited about writing topic sentences! We reviewed learning intentions, looked at quality examples of topic sentences, and created criteria for topic sentences. Students said it had to be engaging and it had to be on topic. Later, students practiced making topic sentences based on the body of different paragraphs and on topic keywords. Students appealed to their sense of humours to engage their readers. Students collaborated with one another and shared out to the class. IMPORTANT: Click here for the Conference Schedule. 1.) MATH: Complete pg 38 (Page 4 of booklet) 2.) POST A RESPONSE:
VIDEO LINKS: Topic Sentences ![]() Students these days are afforded many learning opportunities because of the advent of technology. Today, we continued learning from others by communicating with a Gr. 5 Class from Kanata, Ontario (near Ottawa) and Wellington, New Zealand! Mr. Fisher and I were talking about it and would have loved to have had an opportunity to learn from others like this when we were in Gr. 7. Students not only followed criteria for self-regulation, but they also followed criteria they generated for learning and communicating with others. The amazing self-regulation was an improvement from Friday! It is amazing how one novel can bring so many students together from around the world! 1.)
