We have 6 more weeks of school left. Which means we have 6 solid weeks of learning left! The learning never stops and it doesn't slow down! Be sure to keep working hard so you can end the school year off on a strong note. I want all of you to be prepared for Gr. 8! Today, students learned about the area of circles and had a literary elements quiz. Later, they learned more about physical and chemical changes and observed a demo outside. In the afternoon, students learned how to long jump in PE.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

With the end of the school year approaching, I can sense many of you are ready for high school. However, we can't forget about everything you have learned this year in regards to your self-regulation. By this point in the year, you should be about to self-regulate using your self-regulation strategies. For example, referring to your C-Charts.
Today, I want you to write a detailed paragraph. This will be a reflective self-assessment.
LEARNING INTENTION: I can identify areas where I can improve in my self-regulation and how to improve in these areas.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Paragraph format (intro, body w/ 2-3 supporting details/examples, conclusion)
2.) Must include 2 areas for improvement and provide specific examples.
3.) Must include 2 strategies to use to improve in the areas for improvement. Provide specific examples.
4.) You will be uploading this to FreshGrade in class tomorrow.
5.) Give 2 students descriptive feedback.
6.) Respond to any feedback you receive or revise your post based on a self-assessment.

This year has been very different from other years, but something that seems to stay the same (based on classroom decoration) in Mr. Hong's class is self-regulation. After almost a year of it, I mostly know what good self-regulation looks like - but as always, there's room for improvement. Many things are encompassed within self-regulation, and one of them is motivation. This is something I'm lacking for many reasons, including having no examples of things helping, which leads to not having a reason to do it. Even though there's only 6 weeks left of school, I will continue working on my motivation, and hopefully by high school it'll be acceptable.

We only have six weeks left for the elementary school. Our class is going to be separate next year. Even a lot of my friends are not going to Churchill. Our childhood is going to over. It’s very sad but I did learn so many things in the elementary school. I remember that I don’t even know what’s 2+4 when I was grade 1. Now I can do every different kind of way of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. This year, it’s the last year of the elementary school, I have some I’ve proud of and something I think I need to improve on. First, self-regulate. I like to play with my friends but I will even talk with them on the lesson. I wish I can more self-regulate in grade 8. Second, I wish I can more focus on my homework. Every time I will have some grammar mistake in my work. I wish I can be more attentive when I’m doing my homework. There are some strategies to solve it. First, just focus on the lesson and don’t even look at your friend. Second, check your answers after you finish your homework. These are some areas that I need to improve and some solutions. Elementary. Kindergarten to Grade Seven. All we have left is twenty nine days. Or six in-school weeks. *Minus today, since we finished.* Throughout this year we have done many things. One of the MAIN things we learned this year was self-regulation. For me, mostly I’m fine, but could still work on a few things. For example, when I have my JUMP Math book open to the page during lessons, I usually work on it. I should probably not open to the page we are working on in math until told to go work on it. I just can’t keep myself from completing it while the lesson is in progress. It’s just there. Begging to be completed. Another thing is I get distracted by my book sometimes. One way thatI could work on it a bit would be not leaving my book on my desk. I pick it up much too often while in between lessons. Twenty nine days to the beginning of high school. That’s all. Then another five years of sitting in a class listening to a teacher drone on, and on about what happened in 1943 or what happens when you mix water with sodium.

Time is going by really fast, for the entire year we have learned many things. The thing that stands out the most is self-regulation, what I could improve on to be a better self-regulated student, is getting my work done because I often get off track and don't work on it, what I could do to focus more is by putting the items away which I get distracted by, and staying quiet when one of my friends/tablemates talk and start a conversation. Another thing I could improve on is when I don't feel like doing my work, a few ways to improve my motivation is by trying to work on my assignment step by step till I get it or ask mr. Hong to help me understand how to do it (which I most likely won't ask mr. Hong for help). Our learning journey won't end yet but get harder until we get a job. Life is going to get worse.

Since high school is just around the corner, it’s important to practice self regulation and be prepared. Although I only see minor problems with my self regulation, there are definitely certain areas that I could improve on. First, I’m proud to say that I complete my work almost always, but I struggle with focussing on my work and getting distracted by other things. It could be something as small as fidgeting with an eraser, or just playing around with a pencil (I could basically get distracted by anything.) In order to solve this issue; I need to block random thoughts that bounce around in my head and stop myself from fidgeting with objects, as well as only talking to my neighbours when it’s necessary. Furthermore, motivation has always been something that I lack and it’s such a burden to get up and finish my work. For me, motivation depends on my mood and I’ll be able to quickly finish up my work when I’m in a happier state of mind. To conclude, everyone has their own areas that they need to work on and there’s always room for improvement. What are some areas you could improve on for self regulation?

The school year is almost over. All that's left is just 6 weeks! Something that I noticed I should improve on is Self-Regulation. Meaning that I should work on trying to be quiet in the hallways, and being quiet when the teacher is talking. For instance, today, when we were going out for recess, Mr. Hong said told the class to be quiet, yet I still talked. Additionally, sometimes if I'm bored in class, I will talk with my table group. I think to improve on Self-Regulating in the hallways, I could try to stand next to people I won't talk to, and if someone tries to talk to me, I could tell them to be quiet. For improving on talking with my table group, I think the best choice would be to Self-Regulate my environment, but I don't want to do that, so I am just going to try to pay attention when the teacher is talking and remember not to get too noisy. I think overall, Self-Regulation is key, and without it, we wouldn't get anywhere.

The end of the school year is approaching. I have come closer to perfection this year, although I'm far far away from it on all subjects, I have improved for sure. One of the things I have improved on is self regulation, but how can I improve more? One thing that I find hard to do is turning my seat towards the screen. On m current seat it is easy since its facing the screen but At other times that is something that I have to remember. One that I am almost guilty of all the time is, not putting away distractions. I try to put papers away so I can focus on the lesson, but its hard to do. Over this year though its getting easier to do. Listening... Sometimes I'm just not listening, although it is extremely rare, it happens. I can find my way around this one, but I try to remind myself to listen when I catch myself not paying attention. Those were some things I can improve on for self regulation.

The year is coming to an end. Only six more weeks left. It is crazy to think how much we have all progressed. I can still remember me in grade 4, sitting with Roen under the soccer poles after school. The sun was shining and the wind was calm. We talking about going to highs cool together, on the adventures that we would face together. Though sadly, he won't be continuing the journey with me, same with Seth. 2021 was a big year for me. The last year in elementary school, and the last year with my friends. I improved on my self regulation skills and became more mature, but even though I improved, their was always more room for improvement. Somethings that I could improve on is staying in my designated seat. When we were allowed to choose who we could sit with, I wanted to go with Seth, Nathan and Roen, but everyone got their seat before I could realize and there I was, away from all my friends. That's why I always move to their area, not to only just communicate, but to work together as a team, wether its Math or Science. That's what I think I mainly have to focus on overcoming, what do you think you need to work on?

Although, I'll need to try and restrain myself from being curious and be engaged with conversations around me. For instance, once I got distracted by the table beside from their noisiness and ended up unable to finish a simple page of math. Personally, I need to stop zoning out and focus on myself instead of other issues. In contrast, I do have slow reflexes and would benefit staying in zone during school hours instead of letting my guard down. I still have a way to go before high school and even if I reached my goals, the learning never stops.

Last six wEEks of elementary school! In the past year of school, I still need improvement. In self regulation, I think I have improved on my listening skills. I need to try being distracted and wondering what's in my desk. For an example Mr. Hong kept telling me to eat more of my lunch, (thats still happening i think). I need to work on my spellig mre and sop rushing through my wrk. I can't really find an example of my rushing through my work right now during the time of me doing my par. And even though I will eventually reach a goal or even have a goal. The learning never stops. ( Unless you die )

Elementary school is ending and soon I will be in high school. My self regulation has improved since grade3. Even though I could self regulate, there is still room for improvement. Two things that I could improve on are actively listening and looking at the speaker. Sometimes, I don't actively listen and when I don't, I might make a mistake. I also don't always look at the speaker when I should be. In order to self regulate better, I could look at the speaker and listen more. Overall, I could self regulate better and I'm sure that I could become a pro self regulator.

As time goes on, we begin to grow up and in a sudden flash, we are soon to graduate. Personally, because I went to an international school in Hong Kong, I've already had a taste of high school but the structure as to why I went to high school a year earlier is complicated and is similar to a rabbit hole. Moving on, during the time that I spent at Laurier, I learnt and improved in many subjects. This includes math which my grades proved to have a significant change, while as I learnt that my writing could be too hard for teachers to understand. Though, overall, I learnt how to be polite in a regulated manner according to the C-Charts we created at the beginning of the year. Although there is a huge amount of space for me to improve, I know that my attitude has gradually changed over the year. With this in mind, 2 areas I could improve in include talking in class and fidgeting. Though talking may be accessory to the fact that I fidget often. Afterall, I become easily impatient and this makes me feel uncomfortable in silence. Though, a way I solve this is through trying to think peaceful and calming thoughts to stop myself from being nosy and unregulated. In conclusion, everyone has improved greatly throughout the year and we've all had interesting experiences at school. Though there is more to experience as time passes on and we graduate soon.

We need to self regulate till the end of the year, and to help us we must self access. Although I know that I'm not perfectly behaved 100% of the time, I am convinced that my regulation is at a respectable amount. Some things that I could change is every once in a while I get distracted by what my peers are doing, then I get captured in the converstaion and don't realise that I am missing out on some of the material we are being taught. This can be easily fixed by just ignoring them. In conclusion, we have gone a far way since the beginning of the year and I have we will hopefully continue in getting better at self regulation.

Time fly's, as we are having fun. As we all know, these are our last few weeks at Sir Wilfred Laurier and there is still plenty to improve on. As I learn how to embarrass the Big 6 Learning Principle, I realized that there is much for me to improve on. Firstly, a area that I think I can improve on is staying focus during lessons and working independently. I get easily distracted as I sometimes talk with my neighbors or just chat in general. I can help myself focus during class time by moving to a quieter place in the classroom to work on my assignments. Another area that I can improve on is to raise my hand more frequently. As Mr. Hong asks us a question, I usually let others to answer the question first. Therefor, whenever Mr. Hong asks us a question again, I will try to answer him to my best of my abilities. Overall, I am extremely excited about entering high school as I can meet new friends and teachers.

Admiittedly, I dont always listen to class or pay attention to EVERYTHING Mr Hong says. One thing that in the beginning I didnt really listen to was self regulation. For me in the beginning it was something like another comment that teachers just like for us to use and be but doesnt really help us. I thought it was like telling someone to think before they speak. No one really listen to them, and it doesnt really come to us in our day to day lives. Over time however I realised that Self Regulation isnt like one of those things. Instead its actually something that WILL help us in our future. Self regulation is basically to moniter and manage our own individual lives. Like our actions, our comments, our emotions, etc. This year I can not say I was relaly self regulatted in all subjects. For example for some subjects I dont really listen to that much or really pay attention to class since they dont really strike me as a subject I really like. For example math. I dont really enjoy math. Its not something I really enjoy thats why sometimes I would not be as self regulatted. Compared to Read to Self and novel Approach. During some other classes I would be much more self regulatted. I belive in High School I need to be self regulated in all of my subjects to make sure that I am paying attention and passing my classes. Another area to be improved is not get distracted that much. For exaple when I am in class, There's often other things on my mind that has nothing related to the class we are having. Therefore, another thing I belive I need to work on is to not get distreacted by other things in my head, Those are some things I belive I need to improve on that involves Self regulation. Hopefully next year and the years to come, I would be much more self regulated and I will be focus in class. Especially being more self regulatted in the school enviorment.

There is only 6 weeks of elementary school left, but self-regulation can improve infinitely. Self-assessing my self regulation skills, I can say that I could improve on my listening skills. I need to improve on this because even on a question that I could answer, for example in math, sometimes I can't do it because I couldn't hear it well, and I could concentrate more on the lessons, or I could also ask Mr. Hong to write the question on the board. In conclusion, this was my point of improvement in self regulation.

This school semester is coming to an end. To me, it feels like it has been only one month and some days it feels like we've been in the same grade for ten years. Despite having a challenging and unfortunate year with COVID-19, our learning has always stayed the same. Self regulation is something we have learned ever since September. Looking back, there are still things I should improve my regulation on. For instance, I should self regulate when I'm doing homework at home. Sometimes I get really lazy and I save the homework for last, which isn't the best idea. I think focusing and getting less distracted is something I can improve on. Some ways I can do that is by limiting the things that can distract me. Things like, toys i can fiddle with, or electronics I might not need yet. These things can help me feel more focused and so I can do my homework. Self regulation isn't always about regulating your feelings and emotions. Though, self regulation plays a big role in that, self regulating your enviorment is just as important. How can you not get distracted if a new video of your favourite anime or youtuber pops up? You can't resist the urge sometimes and you get distracted. So, I think one thing I have to work on is self regulating my enviorment.

Our Gr. 7 year has been unexpectable, and it is about to end soon. Our self-regulation skills have improved since september. Self-regulation skills are important in life, and it can always be improved. For me, my self-regulation skills can improve by self-regulating my enviorment. When we are having a lesson or watching a video on the smartboard, from where I sit, I can't see the smartboard. Most of the time, Mr. Hong is there so I can barely see. So, when we have lessons or watch videos, I have to move. I am still improving on self-regulation and you are too!

Grade 7 hasn't been a normal year. Having the pandemic and wearing masks, washing hands, etc. But in my opinion, this year has zoomed past us. (haha get it? It's a pun) Grade 7 seemed to have blazed past us really quickly and now I feel like I need to improve myself before this amazing grade ends. A way I can improve my self regulation skills is to try not to talk to other people around me when the teacher is talking. This sometimes leads me to miss important things and might make me lose some information. I can improve that by staying silent and try to focus more on the teacher and not on my peers. Another way I can improve my self regulation skills is to try to not work on work given until given implicit instructions on it. I can improve that by putting my pencil away in order for me not to write anything.

To prepare for high school, we need to be able to self regulate in our normal classes first. Self regulation is very important and it will help you focus and not get distracted. There are times where people can get carried away during class. Which is when self regulation comes in. I believe that I can work harder if I don't get distracted as much. The two things that I will work on is to listen well during lessons and to not get up during work time. I can work on these two by reminding myself to not do it. I believe that if I try I can definitely do it so I am not very worried about if I can do this or not. In the last bit of the year I will try my hardest in school and I will listen closely and prepare for high school. Self regulation is very important in school as it helps you listen along and it helps you pay attention and get work done.

Self regulation. It is a struggle for many. I personally struggle with
focusing on the task at hand. Sometimes it’s because I get sidetracked by my own train of though, and others, I’m just to tired pay attention. Another example of self regulation I can improve on is the fact I make lots of jokes and sometimes talk when I’m not supposed to. Strategies I can use to help better my self regulation are getting more sleep, staying focused and not letting myself get sidetracked, and restraining myself from being as talkative during class. All in all, I still have some things to work on to better my self regulation, but, I am proud to see how much I have improved over the years.

For the c-chart I need to improve in ownership, and effort to protects. Example 1 LA reading, I have a superannu motivated to do it so that got me to slack off and being lazy to it. Example 2 doing my homework I suppose or doing it too late because, I'm unmotivated I forget about it. This proves that I should stay motivated and have ownership over my work.

As we are approaching the end of our elementary school journeys, self regulation is becoming more and more important for our learning. I feel like the main focus of this school year is all about self regulation to prepare us for high school because of all the C charts. I think that I have lot of room for improvement. For example, I often get distracted during class with other things that reduce my productivity and makes me get less work done. It also distracts other people so I think that I need to change urgently. A way I can prevent myself from doing this could be removing irrelevant objects to ensure that I don't touch them during class. Another area I could improve at is to stay at my desk during class and to not visit anyone. I think that I can improve by focusing on my work more so I won't get distracted or just try harder to control myself. I think that I've improved at self regulation a lot this year already and by grade 8, I'll be very regulated in school!
