Today, students learned about 'MONITORING COMPREHENSION' skills that will help them improve their understanding of what they read. They watched the lesson and worked on their student activity. They used a David Bouchard poem about an animal that lives in the Rocky Mountains. Although it wasn't clearly stated, the students all thought the poem was about a wolf! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JASMINE!!!! Thanks for sharing your cupcakes with everyone!
1.) MATH 6/7:
- Complete Fractions/Decimals worksheet (front and back) don't worry too much about the last line of questions on page 1 and the last section on page 2.
- Watch this video. It will help you prepare for tomorrow's math class and if you are eager, it will help you answer questions number #3 a-j (pg 389 WS) and #2 a-f (pg 390 WS)
2.) PASSION PROJECTS:
- KEEP COLLECTING YOUR PHOTOS! You will start your projects tomorrow! (ANIMOTO EDUCATIONAL CODE - a4ehong55d4a27687081a5f)
- In class today, you paired up with another student to practice taking pictures, videos, and uploading them to your Animoto account. For homework today, you will do something similar:
- You will create a short Animoto related to 'EDUCATION/SCHOOL/LEARNING' using the following criteria:
2.) Upload at least 5-10 images related to your topic.
3.) Upload 1 video clip that is at least 10 seconds long related to your topic.
4.) A Concluding Page (text) to finish off your video. It must include a famous quote related to your
topic. Click here to see some education related quotes and their authors. Feel free to use one
of them or find another one you like better.
TIP: You can take pictures of school supplies, books, homework, websites, etc and use those for
your video. Keep in mind, you can also take videos of your pencil writing something down,
you doing your post a response, etc.
- For some ideas, you can view the EXAMPLE PASSION TRAILER VIDEO that I showed in class.
3.) POST A RESPONSE:
- In your own words, explain what it means to 'MONITOR YOUR COMPREHENSION' and list at least 4 things that helped you do this when you read the David Bouchard poem in class today.
- Give one other student feedback on their response.
- Edit/revise your response after receiving feedback or after you do a self-assessment of your original post.
