Area of a parallelogram

Today, students learned how to calculate the area of a parallelogram by using base and height. In Digital Citizenship, we learned about addressing hate speech we find online. We had think/pair/share sessions and engaged in activities that made us really think about the perspective of all parties involved. Creating a positive digital footprint and learning how to manage it is important. Here are links to some of the lessons we have had recently. I think digital citizenship means to use Internet efficiently and to be aware of what you post online also to remember your digital footprint.
Let’s say you are posting racist stuff online or liking bad stuff and inappropriate stuff that will affect your digital footprint people will take screenshots of what you post and maybe save them. If you wanna be president when you’re older if someone has a footage or a screenshot of you posting racist stuff they could send that to the government and say this person should not be president he likes being racist and posts terrible
Things. That is one thing that can affect you when you want to lead something or get a job.
I also learned to be an up stander and not a bystander.
And my dad always tells me do you want to be the person that pushes people up or pushes people down when I sometimes be mean to people. I always say I want to push people up and I change my behavior. That is why everyone should be an up stander.

Digital citizenship. I have been learning about digital citizenship these few weeks. I think the big idea of digital citizenship is that we should think before we click. First, you might send something inappropriate, because you wanted attention or thought it would be funny. Second, you have to think about what the other people might feel. It would let to consequences. People might get depressed or feel uneasy. People might tell on you, too. Third, you might post something hateful, because you don’t like someone. However, once you clicked that ‘post’ button, everyone can see what you posted. They might even see you in a different way. By helping, we can report the post, and remember to not do the same thing or follow and believe it ourselves. We can tell trusted adults like teachers and parents, so they can help with it, too. Finally, being an up stander can help. You can text the person through dm and tell them it’s not right to do or post stuff online. Some people may feel uncomfortable to stand up, but we should all be up standers, because it would help a lot. In conclusion, it’s important think before we act, because you can get in big trouble.

What is digital citizenship? And what is the big idea of it? This week, Division 1 had multiple lessons on digital citizenship. During the lessons, I learned what it is, the big idea, and the reason for learning it.

What is digital citizenship? Digital citizenship refers to the responsible use of technology by anyone who uses computers, the Internet, and digital devices to engage with society. Not only did I discover what digital citizenship is, but I also learned the big idea of it.

“Freedom of Speech doesn't justify online bullying. Words have power, be careful how you use them.” The quote from Germany Kent strongly connects to the big idea of digital citizenship. The big idea of digital citizenship is using social media wisely. People post offensive, racist Menes, posts, and comments all the time. Nothing can be erased from the Internet. After knowing the big idea of digital citizenship, do you wonder how social media affect us?

Social media can have a gigantic impact on everyone both positively and negatively. While social media brought efficiency to people's lives, studies showed people who use them are less happy than people who don't. This is because of cyberbullying and hate speech. Most people are either unaware of the things they are doing or intentionally doing things that aren't appropriate. Since they are common in our everyday lives, being educated about digital citizenship is crucial.

What is digital citizenship? Digital citizenship is obviously something about strategies to stay safe online from racism. We also learned this since least week to now.

In social media you could post something racist or offensive to other types of people. You might think it could be fun to do that without taking it seriously but it could also hurt your classmates if they are a foreigner. We learned how to defend ourselves from cyberbullies as a bystander.

If anybody from your class posts any harmful hate speech offensive to you such as n-word, c-word, or any other word that is clearly offensive to your type then please take a screenshot and send it to the teacher or report it, in that way the racist classmate would obviously get into big trouble.

Lastly I think that these lessons were useful as Trevor (our classmate) was exposed by saying the N-word as my friends took screenshots. We obviously know that you should think before posting any kind of offensive stuff.

Throughout the past few weeks, Division 1 has been learning about how they should act on the internet, or in other words, digital citizenship. It is crucial for a person to maintain a positive dossier; when reflecting back on their browsing history, one shouldn’t live with regret because they did something online that was harmful. Moreover, cyberbullying is when a person bullies a victim online both directly or indirectly. For instance, sending personal attacks via direct text messaging is known as direct cyberbullying; it is called so because the attacks is evidently towards a specific person. However, indirect cyberbullying is as harmful as being direct. To illustrate, if a person is attacking a person by posting an individual picture with everyone but one person who is evidently their friend, this action is known as indirect bullying; although the predator doesn’t specifically direct their attack to someone, through inferring, it is very evident what their post means behind a couple of memorable photos. Finally, hate speech is when one attacks another because of who they are; this may include their gender, race, passions, or even religion. Digital Citizenship is the ability to develop the skills and knowledge to effectively use the internet and digital technologies. Whether we know it or not, we create more digital footprints every day. Whether its from liking someone's story to losing a snake eye game in dank memer.
Throughout the past few weeks, Division 1 learned that it's important to make all of your accounts private and not to share any personal info. As well as that, When you see an offensive post, we learned that you should try to get it removed by reporting it.

This quote is a statement Mr. Hong has reminded us about numerous times throughout the past week. So far this year, 4.62 billion people in the world use social media regularly, which makes up more than half of the entire population on earth! Sure, social media can have many positive effects on these billions of users, but these online platforms also introduce several new threats that never had to be considered before their existence. This is where digital citizenship comes in.

Recently, our class learned and participated in activities that help us improve our own digital citizenship abilities online. I think the purpose of these lessons was to help us understand how visible our presence is on the internet and how to deal with threats that we might encounter on social media in order to reinforce our safety. Specifically, I learned how easily my digital footprint can grow without me even knowing. To elaborate, I have to be wary of the trail I leave on the Internet and how it can affect my success later in my life because my previous posts and comments will always be permanent. Additionally, I also gained background knowledge about methods I can use to help me deal with issues on social media and situations involving others. To illustrate, if I experience cyberbullying while online, then an option I have is to tell a trusted adult about the issue. This solution benefits me because it's easier to be an up stander when you have people who can support you. This is why we need to know about digital citizenship. If you consider it, digital citizenship is essentially how your parents might tell you to behave in public, but on social media. After learning about digital citizenship, I've come to understand the big idea of it all; think about how what you're saying could affect others. In many of the examples of digital citizenship that we worked on, there were communication problems through social media, but after thinking about it, if the problems were discussed in person, it would be easier to sort out and understand for each person. Furthermore, before you post or like something, make sure you think about it beforehand: How could this be perceived? Could it be insulting or offensive to anyone? If i have to guess the big idea/ Why we are being taught this is because of how important this is and how easily this can happen. If you don't know what i'm talking about let me break thing down to you.Digital citizenship teaches us about cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is like the aspect of bullying but online in social media with greater and easier ways for you to get bullied. Social media has impacted the world in multiple different ways, but is it our responsibility to protect ourselves while being online. We have been learning about how to ensure safety when using online platforms for the past several weeks, and gaining background knowledge of how to be a positive digital citizen. To initiate, our digital footprints are a major part of being online. Digital footprints are the data and information recorded as a result of our online activities. Everything we do on the Internet is tracked and recorded, even if you think it has been "deleted" or "erased". To elaborate, as its name suggests, our digital 'footprints' are trails of our information left behind when we're online. Searched something up on Google? Tracked. Sent a direct message on Instagram? Tracked. Our digital footprints are always there, and can never be completely erased. One example of this could be spreading rumours about someone behind their back informing them to disclude them, discourage them etc. Lastly, online hate speech is an attack that targets someone because of their identity, including their race, gender, sexuality, etc. This is becoming more common nowadays, and should be avoided at all times. Some ways to solve a hate speech conflict is to be an upstander, such as informing a trusted adult, confronting the speaker, or raising awareness about the situation. Ultimately, the message I received after these lessons is to be aware of my actions online, have empathy towards others, and be an upstander or ally. As an unknown person once said, "If you wouldn't shout it out at a mall, you shouldn't post it online." Make good decisions while being online, as you are always being tracked.

What is digital citizenship? We had multiple lesson on digital citizenship we learned to use our technology responsibly and how to use it carefully online on social media platforms we also learned how to deal with cyberbullying like tell and adult for help or tell an trusted friend, and report to the app and always be an upstander not and bystander. We also learned about digital footprint like when we search something and delete it from search history it will always be there like when you write something in sharpie also when you post something online and delete it and think people will not know about it they can save it or screenshot it without you noticing about it at all. The lesson was important as it teaches use to think about what we say then post and to be careful online.

Digital citizenship. What do you think of when you hear this word? From my perspective, I think of my digital identity and how the digital world has been tracking everything I have been doing online ever since I was born. It's very shocking to me, but it does have it's advantages for catching online hate speech.

Online hate speech is a form of hate in the digital world. For example, someone in your class could post a picture of them self, but then another classmate decides to make a negative comment about it online. They may think they did it online and cannot get in trouble, but actually; they can. If someone sees it, they will definitely report it to the app or a trusted adult; or maybe even confront the person about it.

Digital citizenship is your digital footprint. Anything you do online is recorded, you might not see it but it is. Digital citizenship is also learning how to be responsible online and take ownership of your actions on any social media platform.

For the past few weeks, division one has been learning about digital footprints online. Your digital footprint is the record of all your interactions online. Once something is posted or shared online, it can be there forever. Even if you're on incognito or you delete your search history. The big idea we've been learning about is to think before you click, for example, if you're sharing a photo of yourself online, think about what might happen if you do it. Even if you sent something on accident, and delete it right away, people might already have screenshots of it. Your digital footprint is important for many reasons, if you're applying for a job or school, they might check your footprint to see if it's a positive one or a negative one. That's pretty much what our class has learned for the past week about your digital footprint and the big idea of it.

Last week we learned about digital citizenship, (digital footprints) a digital footprint leaves is data left behind from users who we’re online. So let’s say for example, you post something and others views it but, you think to yourself, “why did I post that?” And having the urge to delete it afterwards. That’s digital footprints. Even if you delete it, the people who viewed it, or even saved the post/video, it’ll still be there forever. Now, that you have a better understanding of what your digital footprints are, do you think you’ve done this kind of thing before? Digital footprints could even be tracked of whatever you search.
