Today, the students jumped further into photography and learned about "filling the frame" and the "Rule of Thirds," taking some beautiful photos in the process. The students finished up their work in teams building their Cheers with Mr. Fisher's class, just in time for Sports day tomorrow! Before lunch, we learnt more about linear relations, and how to write algebraic expressions based on some word problems, and in the afternoon, the students continued their work on Spheros to make some simple games.

IMPORTANT:
- Gr. 6 students return Planetarium forms
- All students return camping forms and pay online

1.) ART:

Each student should add at least 2 examples of "The Rule of Thirds" on their shared photography document.
These can be pictures that you find online, but at least one must be taken, yourself.

2.) MATH:

Complete any corrections from the 9.1 & 9.2 worksheets

3.) NOVEL APPROACH:

Be prepared to discuss your books, any Gift of Words, and any Thinking and Learning questions by the time you check in with your group on Tuesday.

4.) SCIENCE (7):

Complete 'states of matter' activity for Tuesday

The "Rule of Thirds" in photography isn't a law, its a strong suggestion, because artists have found that people really like pictures that follow this rule.
In a paragraph, explain to myself and you peers, why you think this might be.

Would you consider that somebody might have the slightest bit of OCD when they center things out and make things symmetrical? I mean, I make sure things are in the middle when I take photos. That was before I learned about the Rule of Thirds. Now that I think about it, I like the rule of thirds. There's a structure to take the image that makes it look "clean". I don't know but the Rule of Thirds clear up where the object should be when taking photos. So maybe people like the Rule of Thirds because deep down they have the slightest trace f OCD in them.

I think people enjoy pictures with the rule of thirds because if your subject is in the middle of the image, it's static. The rule of thirds allows the viewer to linger on your image longer.

The rule of thirds is a basic guideline that helps you to create interesting and balanced shots.
It works by imagining that your image is divided into nine parts or just use a photo gird. The rule of thirds is one of the most useful composition techniques in photography. When you use the rule of thirds it means that the subject that your taking isn’t centred in the photo, which is how many people frame their shots. Instead, the main point of the photo is a bit off to one side. The rule of thirds draw the viewers eye into all parts of the photo instead of just at the center

I think that people really like pictures that follow the rules of thirds is because it makes that photo look more engaging, balanced and interesting. It draws the viewers eyes into the scene.

I might suggest looking at some punctuation in your response. When you say "the subject that your taking isn't centred" that should say "you're" or "you are."

oday we had a photography lesson. After this lesson, I understand a lot of things in the photography world. The main thing that I learned from today's experience is" Rule of thirds'.

In my opinion, "rule of Thirds" basically is a simple principle that can help you to take well balanced and interesting photos. Rule of Thirds is not a rule, it is just some experiences that the photographer had when they are taking the pictures, so we don't have to follow it, but if you want to make your photo better,m you can do it.

What will something happen if we are not using the "Rule of Thirds"? When you are not using the Rule of thirds, the photo will look the same. However, the photo does not look balanced. Moreover, the photo will probably be a sideline, which is not good. In your photo, the Rule of third can create visual flow. Rule of Thirds can also produce images which are more engaging and better balanced. These are all the essential details that we have to make in photography. In Rule of thirds, you might want to keep your photo in the middle so the photo can be in the middle. Consequently, Rule of Thirds can help the photographer a lot. This thing is also on your phone, you have to press some control app, and then do something about it.

In conclusion, "Rules of Thirds" is a beneficial strategy that can help many of us when we want to take a photo.

Having a perspective photography lesson today in the morning, we learned about "The Rule of Thirds", which allows you to take a picture of your subject lined up to the side instead of in the middle, like how most people would take their photos. And apparently people like this form of photography, but why?

Most people would take their photos with their subject in the middle. Photography artists like to take photos with their subject focused on the side, and it seems that most people like that way instead. I don't know exactly why, but I could guess that it makes the picture look more unique and cool, while still focusing on your subject and showing viewers the amazing background behind. It also makes your picture look more balanced, and we as humans like seeing pictures following this rule. Why? Not sure, but we're humans, and apparently humans like this stuff.

During this art section, we learned about this amazing method called The Rules of Third photography.

The Rules of Third photography were divided into 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines. Therefore, creates 9 equal boxes, with 4 intersecting points in the picture. I believe the reasons why people found the rules of third photography attractive was because of how it might connect and creates a more of a dynamic conversation with the viewer, viewing the photography. In order to experiment this out by yourself, we could simply place any subject right on one of these intersecting points. Sure enough, it would allow the whole picture balanced. In addition, I think the rules of third photography may also create this interesting effect between the subject and the background. In my opinion, it’s sort of like telling a story between the two objects connected.

All in all, I believe the rules of third photography was absolutely a useful skill to master. If you’re considering some ways to improve your photography, why not try out this strong suggested The Rules of Third photography?

“Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” was said by the famous artist Pablo Picasso. Rules are vital in order to succeed in life. It's also what the world relies on to have further advancement. There are also very significant rules that relate to science. For example, the three laws of Newton. In other words, they are the laws of physics. Rules can also be found in school. An example we all know of are the C-Charts. They are the rules of how we should behave in a certain circumstance. Most rules are meant to be kept but as Pablo Picasso said, we must learn them and break them LIKE AN ARTIST. This is telling us to break teh rules of our imagination, to go infinity and beyond. If there is one rule that is meant to be broken CORRECTLY, is in creativity. On the contrary, we must learn the rule first then break it. Photography's Rule of Thirds is the absolute best example of it. A lot of beginning photographers tend to break this rule because they just don't know it exists. However, an old photographer, one who knows better, not only abides by the rule but knows best how to bend or break it.

Regardless, we must be obliged to learn it before breaking it. You may have noticed your camera has an option to show its grid (you should because Mr. Collins told us about it). When activated on the iPad, it creates 9 even squares. This makes three horizontal and three vertical spaces. The purpose is to place your main person or thing in either the top, bottom, left or the right third of the screen. Now explaining why it works, well when a photo's main character is in the middle, one's eyes tend to go to the middle. However, when teh main subject is close to the edges, a human's eyes linger on the photo more because it is trying to find it and follow it.

All in all, this was a very clever strategy to make someone look at your photo more.

The Rule of Thirds is the breaking down of an image down into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts. The rule of thirds is an essential photography technique. It can be applied to any subject to improve the composition and balance of that image.

One reason why people might choose to view pictures composed using the rule of thirds is because people generally like images which are more engaging and better balanced, rather than random shots. I don't really care what kind of photo I am veiwing as long as it is an image of a turtle or flamingo.

In conclusion, the rule of thirds is a guideline where you divide the picture into a grid of nine squares which applies to the process of composing visual images where important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections. This technique makes images look more visually appealing, which is why I presume most people like this.

This morning we learned about photography lesson. After the lesson, i learned about The Rules of Thirds.

the rules of thirds is about the horizontal and vertical lines to make balanced points. Each frame has 9 squares. to make interesting picture the picture has to be in focus and has to be clearly and unique like the person taking the picture. every picture has a story.

In conclusion, photograph is a useful tool in life.

Using the rule of thirds is very good when it comes to taking a picture. The things that a grid can help you with are perspective and view.

It makes sure that everything is somewhat proportionate and satisfying to look at in terms of measurements. I am not 100% positive but I know some of it because my mom takes a lot of photos using her old camera. That camera has a little grid that helps when taking proportionate pictures.

In conclusion, using the rule of thirds can help you get a better perspective and proportional pictures.

Today during our photography lesson, we learned how to use the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds was thought of by John Thomas Smith, a painter. What the rule of third is, is basically a grid that acts as a guideline for your picture. The rule of third involves either mentally or physically dividing up the image into a 3x3 grid. Then you align the main attraction to many of the guidelines. The main attraction is not centred but off to one side. This is because it draws the viewer attention to the composition as a whole, not just the middle. This rule helps the overall balance of an image and makes it more unpredictable. In conclusion, the rule of thirds is a very helpful tool to help add a balanced and neat element to a photo. The rule of thirds also helps get a better perspective of a view.

During May we have been slowly studying different types of photography, we have started learning about perspective photography. Today, we had briefly discussed the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds is a very simple concept, it is when a photo or image is composed on an imaginary grid. The grid splits the picture into nine equal squares, important pieces of the photo are angled onto the lines or the squares to give it importance over a picture. This concept has been used in many different situations, I have even seen it in video game trailers. The rule of thirds is able to give certain aspects of the photo more dominance. I personally like pictures that use this concept, and all photos that intrigue me use the rule of thirds.

I gave myself a photo that had been centered with the rule of thirds, and one without it, there were two parts of the picture, a stone monument, and a nice pattern of clouds. The original monument was right in the middle, this had me looking around the picture instead of the monument, because it was behind too many things, making it lose dominance, the other picture had it collide with the left line, which let me understand what it was, and it had my eyes focused on the said monument.

Creating a good photo is difficult, lighting, angle, and time of day all must be considered when trying to take a good photo. Using the rule of thirds can greatly enhance the power of a scene or photo, and it can deepen a message if there is one behind the photograph. It is enjoyed by photographers around the world for the power and quality it is able to bring, it is not necessary, but it is suggested.

Be careful that you cannot join two independent clauses using just a comma. Either add a conjunction word (and, or, but, etc.), or end the sentence with a period. There has always been that grid when I’m taking a photo on my phone. I never really noticed or questioned why it is there. That is, until today. This morning, Mr. Collins taught us a brief lesson about “the rule of thirds”. I finally understood the use of that grid. It is part of “the rule of thirds”. It was interesting to see that good photos don’t need to have their subjects centered in the middle.

What is “the rule of thirds” in photography? To check if your photo follows the rule, split the photo into thirds for both directions (which makes ninths). Just imagine it as drawing a game tic-tac-toe onto your photo. The main and important objects in your image should be on the intersecting points of the lines. Why does this work, and why does photographers like to use this method? Well, the grid serves as a guideline. The intersecting points are the places where your eye is most attracted to. Additionally, it also provides some space for other things. With central composition, your main subject just covers the middle completely and makes it quite hard to focus on things around it. Something worth mentioning is that you shouldn’t heavily rely or only use “the rule of thirds” for photography. Though, this is an excellent technique to incorporate, use all different techniques and experiment with them to create unique pictures. Sometimes, central composition can be the better choice, especially for framing and if there is only one subject.

In conclusion, “the rule of thirds” is a necessary skill to learn about when doing photography. When you centralise your subjects too much, it can really become repetitive and boring.

The rule of thirds is one of the most useful composition techniques in photography. It's an important concept to learn as it can be used in all types of photography to produce images which are more engaging and better balanced. How to use the rule third. When framing a photo, imagine the scene divided up as above. Think about what elements of the photo are most important, and try to position them at or near the lines and intersections of the grid. They don't have to be perfectly lined up as long as they're close.
In conclusion I think the rule of third are just a tip to make people take take photo like a pro.

I bet everybody has taken photos before, whether it be on your phone or on a professional camera. You've aimed the camera, you've zoomed in on a face... and *click*, there's your picture. However, I bet you never knew that there were actually tips and techniques for shooting a good picture. One of the more well-known technique is the Rule of Thirds.

What is the rule of thirds? Well first, divide your screen into something that resembles a tic-tac-toe box, with nine sections. There should be four intersection points and four lines. When using the Rule of Thirds, you should make sure that the main object is either lying along a vertical/horizontal line or its center is at one of the intersection points. Apparently, this makes it simpler for our brains to see because it flows into the rest of the photograph along the lines. The photo becomes a lot more balanced, and simple. If you put the main item at the center of the picture, it becomes complicated as your eyes don't know where to look.

In conclusion, using the Rule of Thirds can make even the most simple photos look amazing. When taking a photo of anything, you should try using it and see what photos you capture.

As the daughter of a photographer, my mom taught me many things in the past about photography. I’ve never heard of the rule of thirds so I actually just asked her about it. She told me that a lot of photographers would do this because it gives them a guide to make your photo look a lot better. There are exactly 4 intersections on the grid and usually if you want to focus on a certain thing, especially in scenery, you would position it just right, directly on the intersection. I think a lot of people enjoy looking at photos that follow the rule of thirds because well... the photo’s will usually come out really nice looking!

This morning we had another art lesson. And after that we were taught about `The Rule Of Thirds` by Mr. Collins.

`The Rule Of Thirds` is a picture divided into 9 different pieces. Last year in Ms. Tan`s class, she took one pic and divided it by 30. Each student got 1 piece that we had to draw. It was easy for Victoria because she`s the best artist in school.

The Rule Of Thirds is also known as The Rule Of Thumb.

Yesterday in class we learned about the “rules of thirds.” It helps us take better photos, and helps us understand to capture amazing moments. We learned about using a grid when taking photos. Using a grid can show us where we need to take a photo, and where to focus it on. Having a 3x3 really helps a lot. We got to practice using our strategies. We were able to all take photos of each other. The whole aim of that was to capture that one person and not others. It was very fun and exciting.

I hope to learn more about “Rules of Thirds,” so I can know more about photography.

Today, we had a early morning photography class with Mr. Collins, the first thing we talked about was ” rules of thirds ”. This kind of photography has given the viewer more to look at, simply because of how the photographers take it, first thing they do when taking this type of picture is, inserting a grid into the camera and making sure that something is on every line, and they tend to use the 3x3 grid more often. And in this kind of photography it allows the photo to blog out and in some parts focused, and the idea was to have some kind of person or object cover more than 3 lines of the grid. I hope this gave you a better and easier to understand the perspective of Rules of thirds photography.

In my opinion, I don't actually think the rules of third is that useful to some photographers, because a lot of them literally won't really care of the rules of thirds. In mostly photography competition, those guys will just look at them use their feelings to make choices and decision of choosing which one.

However, still a bunch of people like to use the rules of thirds. The reason will be the frame or the whole entire photo will be balanced. The focused point will not be too tough or like, not that barely showing, or forcing you to look at it. If you want the people to notice the focused point that you want to tell, but in a normal, natural way. You might have to use the rules of thirds. Normally, you might will just put the focused point in the middle of the frame of the photo. But it will be entirely different if you used the rules of thirds.

Sometimes if you want people to notice the point that you want them to notice. You first frame the photo or just try to look at the photo to make sure that the frame and the idea of the photo is not forcing you to look at the focused point. You will try to make the focused point a little bit away from the middle. Try to make the whole entire frame of the photo be balanced. It will shows you about, the photographer who took this photo is taking a naturally or random picture to make you feel with the focused point. Or if there's no focused point. You might could've just make the picture better. Move some places and then click the button. Record it.
