Today, students started the day with PE and had more time to work on their 'ALL ABOUT ME' collages. After recess, we had a special presentation given by the Canadian Skin Cancer Foundation. Educating students about sun safety is an integral component of prevention. In the afternoon, students continued learning about the inquiry process. Also, I have noticed some students not completing the class website 'POST A RESPONSE' (PAR) assignments. Parents, please help keep your child caught up with their online assignments. In the afternoon

IMPORTANT:
1.) ART: Collages are due on Friday.
2.) WORD WORK QUIZ: Friday
3.) FRENCH QUIZ: Friday - Greetings

LEARNING PLANNER:
1.) READING: 20 minutes/log/parent initials (September logs will be checked in class tomorrow)

2.) MATH: Any unfinished work.

3.) FRENCH: Greetings quiz on Friday.

4.) WORD WORK #2: Quiz on Friday.

5.) POST A RESPONSE:

LEARNING INTENTION: I can write a paragraph about 2-3 things I learned in the presentation today on skin cancer and sun safety.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) PARAGRAPH FORMAT: intro/body/ conclusion.
2.) GIVENS: Pay close attention to your spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, etc.
3.) INTRO: Make it exciting and engaging.
4.) BODY: Include at least 2-3 supporting points/examples of things I am putting on my collage.
5.) CONCLUSION: Tie up your paragraph smoothly.
6.) PEER FEEDBACK/SELF-ASSESSMENT: Give 1 student 2 things to improve on based on the above criteria.
7.) REVISED VERSION: Based on the feedback you receive or the self-assessment you complete, post a revised version as a reply to your original post.

COLLAGE - DUE FRIDAY

Today, some students had their vaccinations. In addition to this, everyone had a good amount of time to work on their collages in class. Most students have made excellent progress and will easily complete it by Friday. Parents, please support your child by helping them obtain some photos of family and friends. In math, they learned about divisibility rules and how to find factors of numbers. In the afternoon, we continued reading from 'Ground Zero', did some review on French Greetings, and ended the day with music class with Ms. Chung.

IMPORTANT:
1.) PERSONAL INFORMATION FORMS: Zach, Himaventh, and Orion - RETURN YOUR FORMS ASAP!
2.) QUIZZES: French and Word work quizzes on Friday.
3.) ART: Collage due on Friday.

LEARNING PLANNER:

INQUIRY

Last week, students came up with inquiry questions and sub questions for their inquiry question of choice. Today, they were divided up into their Knowledge Building Circles based on general themes. Students gathered in their KBCs and created expectations (Action criteria) for their behaviour during their collaborative time. These will lay the ground rules for what is expected of them each and every inquiry sessions. They also learned how to use some online resources to check sources for credibility. On Wednesday, we will dive deeper into learning how to research for reliable information.

IMPORTANT:
1.) FORMS: 8 students have yet to return their personal information packages that were sent home. please be sure to return these tomorrow!

LEARNING PLANNER:
1.) READING: 20 minutes (log on sheet)

2.) MATH: Complete 2 prime factorization worksheets and mark with answer key. Must show all your work.

3.) INQUIRY:

Complete your action criteria (ground rules) for your knowledge building circles. Due WED.

Today, you learned a little bit about credible information and images. You used the 'FAKEOUT' website to learn about reliability.
Write one paragraph about something you learned about checking sources for credibility.
