The getting ready phase is quite straightforward. When I am getting ready I make sure my gift of words, thinking and learning questions, and visible thinking are completed. Then, I make sure everything is in my bag so I do not forget anything for the next day. Remember, we are held accountable by our group. For the doing phase I would get my things out of my bag, then I would continue on to our book club. After, I would make sure I put my book and booklet somewhere I can find it easily making it easy to do my powerful response. I find planning things out keeps us organized, and we know what is going to happen. (We are prepared)

Getting Ready:
I make sure that the work that needed to be completed is complete. Once I finished I’ll put it where I wont forget it, in my bag.

Doing:
I’ll take my booklet, the book and a pencil to where we hold the discussion.
During the discussion we will ask each other if we had any trouble with anything. If we do we’ll focus on that first before continuing on to the discussion.

Done:
When the discussion is over, I tend to start reading the next section. Since it’s now the end, I guess I’ll just put it in my desk afterwards.

For each stage you have to make sure that you have a pencil for adding to your thinking. In the getting ready stage you have to make sure that everyone has their work compleated and if they have there stuff to get started. In the doing stage you have to compleat all the gift of words and thinking and learning questions. You also have to share your visible thinking and add to your thinking. Thats where the pencil comes in. In the done stage you should have your thinking and learning questions compleat and have the learned from others compleated to. Your gift of words and visible thinking should be shared with your group. After your done you should start on the next section if you have time but if your done then do your homework but if your also finished that then draw or do something quietly.

Planning ahead helps you to not do things at the last minute. When you do things at the last minute than your not being orginized and planning also helps you not rush around the house and be late for things. Planning ahead is good bevause you can make space for things like watching T.V or doing something else

Getting ready:
You need to grab your novel approach booklet and book. To write things down and erase them, you need a pencil and an eraser. Go to where your group usually goes for the meetings.

Doing:
People in your group alternate turns to share their GOWs and TOLs. You also discuss about the book. Ask questions which will lead to further discussions.

Done:
Once you're done, you would usually go back to your desk and work on the next section, but since it's the last book club meeting, you can read a book quietly or even reread your novel.

I think that planning things ahead of time is a great way to stay organized and a way to not do everything last minute. I think that I need to use my future glasses more often because I tend to do things last minute.

On Friday, we are going to have our last book club discussion. How will I know what to bring? Well, Ms. Navin taught us the strategy 'Getting ready, doing, and done'. We draw and plan out what we will need to bring along when we are getting ready, doing something, and when we finished something. This helps us because we will probably forget something if we don’t plan it out. For getting ready in my book club, I will need my booklet, my book, my pencil case, and my visible thinking sheet. I also need to make sure that I have completed section of the booklet we were supposed to complete. While I am doing my book club, I will need to write down things that pushed my thinking and I will also need to add on to my thinking where I thought of more things. I will also have to share and participate in the group discussion. For the done stage, I will need to have my finished booklet, my completed visible thinking, and my book. In conclusion, the purpose of planning is to help us stay on task, be organized, and complete our assignment in good quality and by the deadline.

What do you have to do for each stage to make sure you are successful in the Novel Approach?
I guess you just have to follow through with you plan to make it work because what's the point of planning something when you aren't gonna flow it.

What do you have to do in the 'GETTING READY' stage?
In the getting ready stage we need to have everything prepared. We should have our booklets finished and our section of our reading complete.

What do you need for the 'DOING' stage?
When we are having our discussions we should be paying attention to the speaker and everybody should take turns sharing there gift of words and thinking and learning questions.

What do you need for the 'DONE' stage?
Since this is going to be our last book club discussion I don't really know what we are going to do when we are done. I guess we just go back to our classrooms and wait for instructions.

Why does it help to plan things out before actually doing it?
It helps to plan things out because you won't be so stressed out. When you plan things out you have a visual image of what you need to do for the day, instead of counting on your memory of what you need to do. That's why most people forget what they need because they didn't put on there future glasses.

What do you have to do for each stage to make sure you are successful in the Novel Approach?
For Ready, I have to prepare all my resources to do the novel approach and have some BK on how to do it. Then I just follow the criteria to do the novel approach and you'll be perfectly fine.
What do you have to do in the 'GETTING READY' stage?
Just get everything ready to do your novel approach and make sure to ask for help.
What do you need for the 'DOING' stage?
When I am doing it I must concentrate on my work follow the criteria as it says so I will be successful (well you know, it's called the success criteria).
What do you need for the 'DONE' stage?
For the done stage, I must try to help others and respectfully finish it.
Why does it help to plan things out before actually doing it?
I think it really helps to plan things out because we can kind of visually see what we must do and we don't have to rush it and panic and stuff...

What do you have to do in the ‘GETTING READY’ stage?:
I will have to grab my Novel Study book, because it has all my work in it, and I need to write in it. I’ll also have to take my Pencil (so I can write down notes from my group), and an eraser (in case I make mistakes). It’s also crucial for me to have all my gift of words, and thinking and learning questions done before I go and join my group.

What do you need for the ‘DOING’ stage?:
For the ‘DOING’ stage, I will need to discuss with my group what I wrote for the gift of words, and thinking and learning questions. So that our discussions are effective, I will need to be giving the speakers my full attention (so that my thinking can be pushed), and giving my group my honest opinion (so their thinking can be pushed also).

What do you need for the ‘DONE’ stage?:
Once the meeting is over, I need to make sure that I’ve collected all my notes from the group and my visible thinking, so that I can later complete the Powerful Response. If I have a lot of time I might also reread certain sections of the book so I have more visible thinking.

Why does it help to plan things out before actually doing them?:
In my opinion, planning things out before actually doing them is good if you want to be very organized. Because you’ve planned these things out, you’ll know approximately how much time you will need to complete these tasks, and you can leave a bit of time in the end for some relaxation.

My P.A.R.
Ms. Navin as been coming to our classroom and she has taught us lessons about high school, school stuff etc. She used a concept which was 'Future Glasses". Why does it help to plan things out before actually doing it? Planning helps a lot because if you forget and start packing last minute you might forget something you really needed. This has happened to me many times where I forget and pack last minute. I always forget something like my pencil case or my homework. That is why I always plan before I do something. For example, I plan when I do my homework, when I take a break and when I start again. I think that if you are constantly forgetting stuff you should use this method.

Getting ready:
I will need to bring my booklet, book, pencil case and my visible thinking stickies. Make sure that I have completed my assigned work for the next book club discussion.

Doing:
I will bring my booklet, book, visible thinking stickies and my pencil case to where I’m having my book club discussion. After we will make sure everyone has completed everything, unless you didn’t get one. Then everyone will take turn sharing their own opinion about each word or phrase. If someone pushed my thinking I will write it down and also include the persons name of who pushed your thinking.

Done:
We all have discussed everything we need to talk about and I would usually start working on the next section. Most likely continue reading the book, but since this is our last book club discussion, I guess I will start on my powerful response?

We've been learning about future glasses with Mrs.Navin. She said something really useful and we always need to remember and that is 'Getting ready, doing, and done'. When you hear it,you might feel confused because you might think what does that mean. That means that we should always wear on our future glasses and think of what we gonna do when we are ready,doing or done. So now,I am gonna make an example. On Friday we are having our last group discussion in novel approach,what do you have to do in the 'GETTING READY' stage,what do you need for the 'DOING' stage? What do you need for the 'DONE' stage? So let me just talked about getting ready stage,what do you do when you are ready. For me,I will bring all I need for novel approach and get in to my book club group and turn the page that we have to share. I will also take a pencil out and ready to write down something that is really Important that my group mates say. How about doing stage,what are you gonna bring or do? For me,I will start sharing my own opinions and connections or even asking questions that I don't know. I will also start writing down some useful point that my group mates have say. And I think what I need is my novel approach booklet,pencil,my book,if we didn't prepare then we couldn't share so we really need to be prepared. Lastly,the done stage? What are you gonna do or need? I think what I really need are the sticky notes because when we are done sharing the 'give of words' and 'thinking and learning questions', we should share what we have in the book which are the sticky notes which can help us to think deeper. If we are really done,I will look at my novel approach and try to think what useful point that I have can include in powerful response. I think we should plan before really doing it because if we just gonna do our own things,some people might feel confused on what they supposed to do,but if you really plan it,it can be clear to people what we need to do.

Getting ready: we would need our booklet because the booklet has most of the work, our book because we might go read back for gift of words or T.L., and our pencil and eraser because we need to write down who pushed our thinking.

Doing: check to see if your other group members did the work that was needed to be prepared then go through the gift of words and go back to read where those gift of words are and go through the thinking and learning questions.

Done: now that your done if other groups are not done then work on something else or if you don’t need to do anything just read or draw.

What do you have to do in the 'GETTING READY' stage?
In this stage, all you have to do is get your materials ready for use. Like a pencil and eraser, a pen for those who use pens, (Like me) and of course, your book and booklet. You also have to finish the section you were supposed to finish in the booklet and book. Once you are done, you may have some extra time to wait for the discussion. While you are waiting, feel free to reread some pages and proofread. Add some visible thinking on as well.
What do you need for the 'DOING' stage?
During the doing stage, all you need to bring is yourself, some hearing abilities, and your completed booklet. Make sure to be apart of the conversations!
What do you need for the 'DONE' stage?
Sit back down in your desk and relax. Work on the next section of your booklet to get a head start.

Why does it help to plan things out before actually doing it?
You keep your schedules tidy, and you would never run out of time. For example, if you have a class on Wednesday and the discussion is Thursday, it's probably not a good idea to stay up late just to finish it.

Grab a pencil, sticky notes, my novel approach booklet and book. Then, grab my iPod and listen to Panic! at The Disco.

What do you need for the 'DOING' stage?
First, I will need to read the required amount of pages. While doing that, I need to do some visible thinking. Finally, when I'm done that I will need to fill out my novel approach booklet.

What do you need for the 'DONE' stage?
I will need to go over everything to make sure I did everything correctly. If I did everything right and am done, I can now go watch YouTube.

Why does it help to plan things out before actually doing it?
It helps because if you don't plan out all of the homework you have to do, chances are, you'll forget something. One strategy for some people to plan their homework out is to use a planner. If you don't use any strategy at all, and not even future glasses, you will probably get pretty stressed out.

Note: This is one of my most rushed PARs ever so sorry. I bet this has like 50 mistakes.

For each stage of the novel approach, to be successful you will need to be accountable to you're group. This also is part of the "Getting ready" phase. So being accountable means that you have everything you need and you have all the assigned work finished or else you wouldn't be able to be part of the book club.
Now I will be talking about the "Doing". The doing is basically what you need during the process. So you will need your novel study booklet, visible thinking, pencil case and your back ground knowledge ;)
What's next? Oh yeah. Once you are finished with you're book clubs, you need to keep everything organized and not lose you're things. I highly suggest that you put everything into one folder so that you don't lose things. Losing things can result very badly.
In conclusion, I hope now you know the 3 phrases.

Done: Check to see if you have finished everything (It's okay if you leave some blank because you didn't understand.)

Getting ready: I need to make sure that I'm done all my work (Booklet) and that I've done the amount required to be read for the group disscussion. I need to bring my book, booklet, and a pencil to write (changed thinking, etc.
Doing: I need to actively participate in conversations and respect eberyone's oppinions.
Done: I should have by then added to my thinking and have more written down. I should have a new understanding of anything that was found confusing by me or others.
It is important to be prepared so that you have what you need and aren't scrambling around trying to get things or leaving the disscussion to get a pencil or holding everyone back because you forgot your booklet at home or something. That was a long sentence.

So...I wasn't in class again today, and I don't really know what this whole getting ready, doing, done thing means, but I'll try my best based on the other PARs.
Getting Ready:
I need to finish all of the required reading and the writing activities in the booklet. I also need my pencil case. Lastly, I need to put all my work somewhere I won't forget it the next day, like in my backpack.
Doing:
My group will discuss the previous chapters of the book, and go over everything to see if there's anything that someone didn't understand, so we can help them understand it. Then, we'll go over a few gift of words, and thinking and learning questions accordingly.
Done:
After the discussion's over, I'll go back to class and put my pencil case back onto my desk, and put away my booklet, getting ready for the transition to another subject.

Getting ready: I need to make sure that I'm accountable to my group, or else we can't have a full on conversation with everyone because I'm not done my booklet section. So of course I'll need to finish and being my booklet. I'll also need my pencil case and my novel book with my sticky notes in it.
Doing: I have to stay on task when we're having a discussion, respect everyone's opinion and be apart of it because what's a discussion if not everyone's apart of it?
Done: By the end of the discussion I should've wrote down who pushed my thinking and what it was. Maybe even a new opinion way different from your old one. Since it's our last meeting on Friday, I should be ready for typing out my P.R.

For book clubs it's very important to have everything you need done, and with you. Especially since your group can't move on if you aren't done. So before the book club meeting, (Getting ready) I need to have all of my thinking and learning questions, gift of words, and visible thinking done. And for during the meeting, I need to make sure I bring a pencil, and eraser so I can write down things I learned from others. During the meeting (Doing), I need to be part of the conversation/participating, as well as making sure everyone stays on task. And at the end of the discussion, I should have had some stuff wrote down about who pushed my thinking. Also I should put all of my stuff away in a safe place, where I know it'll be no matter what. After I'm done all of this, I should be able to get ready, and start/start preparing my powerful response.

Miss. Navin taught us a very useful skill for high school. It is called'. Get ready, doing done. And today I will be using this skill to see what I need for the book club discussion. In the getting ready phrase I need to prepare my book, my booklet and a pen. In the doing phrase I will be reading my book and writing the gift of words down. In the done phrase it will be Friday and I will be discussing this with my group. The future is so clear.

Getting ready: Complete all my assigned work, try to work on visible thinking

Doing: Share all of my information and visible thinking. Try to add on to others thinking and represent my own opinion.

Done: Review my work and head to my class and sit down.
