Belief Systems

Today, students started the day with writing class. Students continued editing/revising their work as they received more peer feedback and teacher feedback. I have given feedback to over half of the class. Our goal is to polish our essays to submit on Friday. In math, students continued working on order of operations. In the afternoon, we started our unit on belief systems. We completed a KWL chart, built some background knowledge with the posted videos below, and introduced the students to the textbook.

IMPORTANT:
1.) MATH: Unit test on Thursday.

LEARING/PLANNER:
1.) READING: 30 minutes and log

2.) MATH: Complete pg. 130-131 Questions #1-10 Mark and correct.

3.) SOCIAL STUDIES: Pg 106-109 Questions #1-2 Pg. 109

4.) POST A RESPONSE:

LEARNING INTENTION: I can explain my definition of a belief system.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Paragraph format: intro/body/conclusion
2.) Givens: Spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure.
3.) Body: Must include at least 2 supporting points/examples. State something and then back it up.
4.) Self-assessment: Complete a self-assessment using the criteria above.
5.) Peer-assessment: Give peer feedback to one student.
6.) Revisions/Improvements: Post your revised version based on your self-assessment or peer feedback.

Buddhism is one of the world's largest religions and originated 2,500 years ago in India. An example of Buddhism beliefs are that Buddhists believe that the human life is one of suffering, and that meditation, spiritual and physical labor can help humans survive longer and not suffer. Another example of beliefs is Christianity. If your Christian, you would believe in such things as God and Christ. Other people may not believe in them but that doesn't mean that you have been following the wrong religion, it just mean that you believe in something different.

Do you know what belief systems are?
There are a lot of different belief systems. Some examples might be Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. There are a lot of different types of religions. There are all different in different ways. The largest religion is Christianity. 2.382 billion people are Christian.

While the main purpose of Christianity it to foster a personal connection with their God (Jesus Christ) and achieve salvation for their afterlife, rules and practices include the Ten Commandments, which thoroughly explains what one must and must not do. However, although many people think that a belief system is restricted only to the current ones, one may construct their own belief system; this is a set of belief and rules they set for themselves. What is a belief system? Well, a belief system is a system of practices and rules used by a community of people. For instance, in Buddhism, a practice is meditation. This is meant to help one become enlightened, and realize that not everything is permanent, and it can be changed. However, religion is not the only kind of belief system. A belief system could simply be the culture and tradition of a community, as long as the people of the community believe in it. Some use belief systems to explain and understand certain things, for example, what happens when you die. In my opinion, belief systems are essential to the world because it can give us personality and logic.

What are believe systems? Believe systems are some systems you believe in. However, most people only choose one to believe in. There are a lot of choices, here are some! They are Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. These are the five of the religions. It is when certain group of people believe in different religions. Each religion might be sorted into different types, too. But, we are just people. We don’t have to believe in the same things when we all have different background knowledge. We grew up in separate directions. We believe in religions, so we have a place in this word, we trust and depend on something and follow the culture of it, because you enjoy or respect it. You might have different definitions for this, because we have different background knowledge, but this is basically my definition of believing in religions.

There are many religions in this world but have you ever wondered what their belief system is? A belief system is pretty much a religion. Many religions have different rules and rituals to follow so they can have a good life. For example, Islam has rules to follow such as believing in god, praying 5 times a day, reading the Quran (the muslim bible), and following the 5 pillars of Islam. Every belief system has rules like the ones in Islam and following them could get you great deeds in some religions. Another example is Christianity, Christians believe in the holy bible and believe in god and Jesus; they also believe Jesus is God's son. Some religions have the same beliefs but interpret them in different ways and that shows how these religions spread locally around the world.

Common religion we mostly heard is like Catholics, Christian, Hinduism , buddhism,and islam. Do you know what belief means? Beliefs are like a religion. Many religions have different god’s different rules and different rituals that they need to do in order to believe the religion. As a Catholic/Christian i believe in 2 religions even though i’m already baptist as a catholic and i'm already confirmed to be catholic i still believe in Christians because Catholic/Christian are similar but there are different types of similarities. Like if Christians has a Bible Catholic does too we learn the same thing we worship the same god but in Catholic we worship apostles too but in Christian they don’t it’s only god. As a Catholic you have to follow the 10 commandments. I will share with 3 of the 10 commandments. Firstly, don’t kill a person, Secondly don’t steal anything, And Last is don’t commit adultery these are the 3 from the ten commandments in Catholic’s Bible and Christian Bible basically Christian and Catholic are almost the same and they also learn the same thing Did you know that Christians has 2 billion people or half of the world is Christians. Now we know what is Christian and Catholics now we will proceed to talk about beliefs system. Belief can be proven to be true and for example, most people today believe that the world sphere even though they may be true. Does beliefs affect our worldviews? How?
