It is Black History Month and we are celebrating by learning about Canadians of African descent. We will be learning about different people in our country's history that have molded our country into what it is today.

Hey, what month is it? The answer is Black History Month! What's that? You don't know what and why Black History is important? Lucky for you, I am here to clear up your fog of confusion and bring you under the wing of knowledge.

First, BHM (Black History Month for short because I'm lazy🦥) is the month when we learn about the history of African Americans. Their race has been enslaved and abused for generations. To discourage the evils of slavery, we strive to remember our past mistakes and hope to never make that same mistake. Secondly, the 2020 theme for Black History Month is: "Canadians of African Descent: Going forward, guided by the past." This quote means (in my head) that all Canadian of African Descent should move forward using the mistakes from the past to guide themselves. Lastly, slavery is a terrible form of work. Personally, I hate whips to the point that I give dirty looks to any whip I see. Although, whips are cruel black people had so much else to suffer. Put yourself in their shoes.

In conclusion, we should acknowledge all Canadians form African descent, and learn from society's mistakes.

It's important to learn about the black history. Why? So we learn from our mistakes and never do it again. Mistakes like discrimination and racism. Black history taught people to stand up for themselves to overcome discrimination and racism.

Martin Luther King Jr. was an activist advancing civil rights advocating all people should be treated equally no matter what their skin color is.

We celebrate black history month to celebrate people that have changed history so we have an opportunity to recognize that what sacrifices they have made for this world.

Have you ever heard of black history? If you haven't, don't worry because I haven't heard of it until today. There is also black history month.
As you know, I don't very much about Black History but according to canada.ca, ( link at the bottom ) during Black History Month, Canadians celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians who, throughout history, have done so much to make Canada the culturally diverse, compassionate and prosperous nation it is today. From the sound of this website that should be reliable, it has convinced me to learn more about black history. So far I think it is important to learn about black history is because from my Background knowledge ( BK ) Black people are hated by others. They were tortured just from being black. Also, Canada has a dark history but now everyone has their freedom and rights which includes everyone. Now I just figured out that Black people helped Canada to what it has become today. And because of the reason why they were hated, they had to go through obstacles to reach their goal. Some Black History Month quotes are: "The time is always right to do what is right."- Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., activist, "Whatever we believe about ourselves and our ability comes true for us."- Susan L. Taylor, journalist, "Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable."- Kenyan Proverb, and a lot more. Each of these quotes have a meaning to be positive and never give up!
Learning about history is really important because we can learn from our mistakes, improve, and tells us that anything is possible.

This month is Black History Month, Don't know what that it? Well let me tell you about it!
First I'll tell you when Black History Month started. The history of Black History Month dates back to 1926 In the United States. We have Black History Month in February because, at the time an African american historian named Carter .G Woodson. He decided on a week in February because two important men were born in that month, Fredrick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
Now, I'll be explaining why we should learn more about Black History Month. For starters, we should learn about Black History Month more because African Americans have achieved a lot and I feel we should acknowledge their accomplishments enough.
In conclusion, we are people and we should all treat everyone equally no matter what colour, gender or race.

I feel like it’s really important to learn about black history, some people think of black markets and other illegal stuff when they here that, but it really is black people’s history of getting discriminated. One reason I think we should learn about this is so we don’t repeat it. The black people had faced it already and had suffered enough, we don’t want to make them face it again. Another reason is that so we can learn to treat everyone equally, not just the black. In conclusion, I just think it is important to learn about black history.

Have you ever heard of black history month? Well today was the first time I've ever heard about it but I've done some research to get background knowledge about the topic.

Every year there is a new theme for black history month and the one set for this month was "African Americans and the vote". Slavery was something many countries began to do, and they chose to be racist to certain people and saw them as people less than them so they enslaved them. After they started to trade them for currency and these actions were inhumane. But nowadays the countries aren't proud about what they did in the past and have apologized to try to fix the countries mistakes. Many countries have a dark history of something they aren't proud of but they recognized their mistakes. The people who opposed slavery were Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, and their Abolitionist allies Harriet Beecher Stowe, John Brown and Angelina Grimke and many people who were enslaved were grateful and then it ended. Now black people are being seen as humans instead of pets for them but there were still something that they couldn't do but other races could. Voting. The country allowed black people to vote and their suffrage was over. After the many years their generations went through they were freed from this pain and had equal rights equal to every citizen.

In conclusion, always treat everyone the same way you would and don't discriminate against anyone for who they are. Always be nice to everyone.

It is currently Black History Month, an annual celebration of achievements by African American, also a time to remember the central role of blacks in the U.S. history. Black people have been unliked for many generations, of other people discriminating them for there skin colour, also known as racism. Black History Month dates back at 1926, when educated African American historian Carter G. Woodson devoted to honour the accomplishments of African Americans. Soon after there was a "Negro History Week" in 1926, with black history coming to Canada shortly after. In the early 1970s the week was well known as "Black History Week" and after expanded to "Black History Month". Knowing these components is important, to know that everyone is the same, no one is considered better and whatever race or colour you are, you are amazing!

February is also known as black history month. Throughout this whole month, our class will be learning about black history. Now, why is learning about black history important? Well, in the school system, we learn about the Chinese head tax, the British colonies and all sorts of different events in history. I think that black history is still American history and shouldn’t be in a separate category since it involved a different race of people. it is just as relevant as any other event in history.

Another reason I think learning about black history is important is that racism is still a problem in today’s society. Of course, discrimination isn’t as bad as it uses to be but racism is an ongoing burden in North America. By learning about black history, we can learn from our ancestor’s past and try to move forward.
Overall, I feel like there is a lack of cultural appreciation for black people. They have contributed many things to American culture and have main many impacts on today’s society.

Black History Month is a way to remember how black people were treated unfairly in our history. Black people were disliked for a very long time just because of their physical appearance, which is their skin being darker. It is important to learn about the black history so we don't repeat the same mistakes, because nobody should be judged by how they look.

It teaches us to not only treat black people fairly, but also everyone else, regardless of how they look.

IT'S FEBRUARY YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!!! This month is black history month. During this month we learn about the contribution and the not so kid friendly history they have. The first thing I'm going to talk about is their history. In 90's there was a civil rights activist named Malcolm X he was most known for supporting African Americans he was arrested for 10 years in 1946 for larceny and breaking and entering on February 21 1965 he was killed by 3 members of the NOI or nation of Islam.

Race is not something that should determine one's worth. This is why we have a month dedicated to black people.
It is not uncommon knowledge that black people are often neglected due to their race. Black people have and can achieve so much, yet many doubt their ability to do so because of their race. Although it is great to have a month dedicated to black people, I feel as if black people shouldn't only have a month dedicated to them, they should be treated equally. Inequality for black people has always been a large problem, which is why I think black history month helps represent that we should be equal to all races, especially the too often neglected black people. Racism is a very large issue in today's society, but with black history month, it allows you to support the black race because they are often neglected.
In conclusion, I think Black History Month is a very crucial month in order to keep equality in today's society.

It's February, otherwise known as "Black History Month." It's a way to remember how blacks were treated unfairly. Why is it important to learn about black history? First, we have to learn some history. Slavery first started in 1619 and ended in 1865. During this time, blacks were sold as slaves and treated unfairly. Even after slavery was abolished, blacks still faced tons of racism and were seen as inferior to whites. They were often be beaten or sent to jail. To this day, there is still racism to Africans. Black History Month is a chance to teach children about racism that has happened before, and prevent what happened before to happen again.

Black history month is a annual event where we remember history about and with black people especially about how they were mistreated throughout history. As Winston Churchill once said, "Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it". For a long time racism was deeply rooted in the government. Slavery comes to mind first, However even after that was abolished, Jim Crow laws still applied for a very long time which was basically state mandated segregation based on race. Of course that's not a thing anymore in developed western nations thanks to civil rights activists and the heavy lessening of racism in common culture. To learn about the severe mistreatment and these heroes are crucial to make sure racism and other discrimination be essentially erased from society apart from learning about it. Showing people the how we are all the same inside is important and not sugar coating anything and showing racism for what it is is important. Luckily racism really is on its way out. However its seems to be different races. I also think that another reason why this is a good idea is as it is important to celebrate the achieve the accomplishment of black inventors, politicians,celebrities and other important people throughout history. For example the 15th New York National Guard Regiment, the Black Panthers, And others especially in the medical field.
In conclusion racism is not epic and neither is discrimination. Treat everyone according to how they treat you and not based on race, sexuality, gender, or some other stupid reason.

As you all know, I am new to the school, and I haven't even heard of Black History. But after some research, I finally learnt the importance of it.
Black History is a month to celebrate the achievements and contributions Canadians had made to turn Canada to a culturally diverse country. And Black History Month is to learn more about these Canadian Stories. And it is also very unfair to Black people in the past, since people and being racist to them. They pick on people with different skin color, different countries, and all those other things, and that is what make them absurd. Also Black History is to teach people to be fair to others and be respectful.

February, is also known as black history month, in case you don’t know what do you like history month is I will explain. Like history month is the month that we can reflect and rethink how we treat each other as human beings.

During the 19th 18th 17th century large amounts of Black people were immigrating to big countries, however most of these people thought they were going to be treated very well be like new normal. That never happened, to this day racism still resigns in many, sadly discrimination is caused wars, genocide and the way others think of black people. During the late 1990s many people part of the black community stood up for their background, their culture ,and most importantly their freedom, to a certain degree do United States and many other countries where the white population felt that black people were a enemy. While in reality, these people were just looking for a new home, because their old one was no more and so they turn to other countries to treat them right.

Black history month is the month we learned from our mistakes and how we treat others, and that we should never judge someone, by race, physical appearance or background. So that we don’t repeat history.

Do you know what black history month is for? Well, I’m going to tell you the importance of learning it. February is the month of black history, and I actually never knew that until this year. I feel like it’s important to learn about black history to teach us what happened to the people with different skin colour or from a different country. First, they were being mistreated and almost consider as slaves. Even after salivary was abolished, they still faced racism and being sent to jail for doing things within the human rights. Lastly, there is still racism in some places in the world. In conclusion, it’s important that kids learn black history to prevent history repeating itself.

Almost everybody knows what Black History Month is, but what is it? According to www.history.com, Black History Month is "an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of blacks in U.S. history." So it's pretty self-explanatory. Why is it important? I guess that it would be to right the wrongs of the past, or in other words, to fix the mistakes that were made in the past. For example, after the whole Rosa Parks occurrence, anyone and everyone has the freedom of choosing where to sit on the bus. Another monumental event in Black History was when Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery and involuntary servitude. This freed many people of colour from captivity. In conclusion, the importance of Black History Month is correcting past mistakes against black people.

What month is it? It's Black history month! Back then, black people were discriminated because of their race. We all need to learn what happened to them, how they were treated, and why we didn't treat them equally, just because we don't want history to repeat itself.

First of all, back then black people weren't given the same opportunities as others. Does race really matter? Everyone is equal and that's the lesson black history wants to teach us or remind us.

Boy, girl , Different race, it really doesn't matter, maybe it did in the past for some people, but this is the present! We are all equal, remember that!

In conclusion, we need to learn what happened to Black people and why we mistreated them so we don't repeat our actions from the past. Also to remind us that we are all equal.

As I grow up it is important for me to learn about Canada and North America's history, and a big part of that is black history. It really wasn't that long ago that many African's were brought to the United States and sold as slaves, sold as property. We have come a long way from there but, I feel we still have a long way to go. Predominantly in the States (but it happens here too), African American's and African Canadians are subject to racial discrimination. It is regular occurance to hear black leaders publicly say that they are their communities are afraid for their lives. Recently I read a book called, "Underground to Canada" written by Barbara Smucker, as she tells a story about two girls who escape slavery and try to make their way to Canada to start a new life. I still feel we have a lot to learn, and I appreciated that this video was from their perspective. I'm looking forward to learning more!
