Happy Easter! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays! The website is finally working. It seems as though Weebly has been having technical difficulties over the long weekend. See you all bright and early tomorrow! I'm looking forward to having a fun and exciting week of learning with all of you! If you have digital camera or mobile device with a camera, feel free to bring it to school tomorrow for art (digital photography). Keep in mind, this is not required and is your responsibility to take care of your technology.

1.) MATH:

Complete 3 plot the points to create a picture handouts.
Play this game 'FIND THE ALIENS'
Play this game 'SPACE BOY TO THE RESCUE'
Play this game 'Game Over Gopher'
Here is a list of more coordinate grid video games for you to practice. They will all help you become more comfortable with the 4 quadrants of the Cartesian Grid.

2.) Novel Approach:

Share your picture book powerful response with two people in your group.
Give them feedback based on your peer assessment sheet and criteria handout. Do this directly on their Google Doc using 'COMMENTS'.
Make your edits/revisions based on the descriptive feedback you receive.
If for some reason, you don't receive any comments, simply do a self-assessment using your self-assessment handout and make edits/revisions.
Respond to all feedback received from peers and teachers.
If you haven't completed the below Novel Approach assignment, be sure to do it.

I learned that Tamim thinks Wesley friends are being gold diggers. My connection is ...I watched a video on YouTube about gold diggers. Nothing pushed my thinking when we were in the book clubs.

I learned at I learned from someone today from book club is that you should pay attention to your surroundings and enjoy them. I learned it from Vera and Ben. My personal connection is I always rush when I go to school so I wouldn't be late. An example from book club that pushed my thinking farther is that when some people said pay attention to your surroundings. We all shared kind of the same thing as the big idea.

Today In our book club we all shared our big ideas Avy said that if you put your mind to something you can get it and I can connect to that because I put my mind to getting with my crush and it worked because every day I put a step and pushed towards that goal and when I reached that goal it was the greatest feeling ever.when mr.hong came to our group he talked about how when kids get bullied everyday they start having suicidedle thoughts and that made my thinking go way further

"just a dream"
The name of thbook we have be en talking about in my group. I am here to explain a few things. I will explain the first thing now.
What did I learn today from the group? I learned that Donald trump was reactivity get the coal generators in the United States of America.
I learned the information that I speak of from mr Hong. In the book I had a connection. When I was littering one day when I was 7ish my dad told me not to or our world will become a wasteland of trash so I stopped littering and the same thing happened to Walter except in the book it's showed by a dream he is having. In the book clubs my learning did not get pushed a lot but using the push I got I came up with the big idea. I believe that the big idea is that to not harm the planet or we could go extinct like the dodo.

1.) I learned that some of the picture examples that were shown in the book " Just A Dream" could represent what Donald Trump is doing in the states for example ( the smoke factory, the Mount Everest hotel ) this all represents the type of person he is and how this could cause global warming including " the Grand Canyon filled with smog )

2.) I learned this from @Mr.Hong

3.) a personal connection I can make to the book is that I'm very careless too, just like Walter and I don't sort the trash and take care of the earth that much.

4.) a example that pushed my thinking further in the discussion was why is there a cat that he never talked about and talking about how he had changed from the beginning to end.

5.) the different big ideas that were discussed are , is this book about what Donald trump is doing , why is there a cat , is this book about global warming , and should we start to care for the earth just like how Walter did .

1) I learned that you should be thankful for what you have, also if you do good to other people maybe it will change them and they will be good to other people... It's contagious.

2) I learned it from Khushi

3) When Khushi said to be great fun what you had a connection sparked in my mind, "When I was a 9 I wanted to ride a hover bored but I never got too, instead I went to my best friends house and I was greatful. What I didn't know as that he had a hoverboard so I got to ride it".

4). When Ozem said quality over quantity it made me think of Jack more beachside Jack didn't care if he lost the nuts he just wanted the cake to have good quality.

David.H: Ozem thinks the big idea is about a clever boy who is very resourceful, also he was poor so he need to think of something to give to the princess.

Today I learned if you put your mind to something you could reach it! I learned this from Logan. Tamim told me a good big idea of his, he said "if younhave a goal that you really want to reach you have to try hard just like how Wesley did in this book

Mr.hong you were talking about how people could get depressed when you're getting bullied. I have this friend that gets bullied because he's fat and hairy. I have it's disrespectful because he is a human too

When Logan said "if you put your mind to something you could reach it!" that makes me think about myself because i try really hard to reach my goal of being a eoccer player and i try really hard to get this special girl.

Big Idea :

I think the big idea is MEMORIES !!!!! For example,

When the man said " I put it in my palm and I am right back in Italy " ( this was also in the gift of words ) depends on what he was holding but with that olive pit to him it could have ment that it was his first toy in Italy maybe or a picture of his friend in Italy
Anyway that is an example of a memory I think there is more than one big idea

.what I learned from others.
1) I learned that the pictures and gift of words give of the meaning of what happened . Also, they teach you to be nicer to the environment.

2) Shaan & Selena.

3) I connected when Walter woke up in the garbage place and his own street Was covered In Garbage.
I think it was last year we went by a garbage place thingy. And I had no words to say. They just covered it up with dirt like it was nothing.
4). Mr. Hong and dyomonte were taking about what the picture meant and that pushed my thinking further.

My Big idea was that anything is possible.
Abyss Big idea was if you put your mind to something you can achieve it.
Logan's was the same thing.
Tamims was the book was about bullying and gold diggers.
I learned that if you put your mind to something you can achieve it.
I learned that from @Avy and @Logan. It was theri Big idea.
My connection was that I achieved something (football) (I didn't say it though). Tamims big idea pushed my think further because he said the "tormentors" we're gold diggers because they didn't like him in tell Wesley started making money. That made me think that they are kinda gold diggers. So yeah By Chance

However when Walter was on Mount Everest I think they were on there because of sea level rising. And because it was getting to hot because of climate change. What do you think about that picture? When I saw the phrase "dull, yellow haze!" I thought of Mist whenever I couldn't see even 10 feet in front of me.

What I learned from Jasmine is that she thinks that the characters in the story are both andventurous. And, I have to agree with her. Other people from my group also thinks that the child was curious about the matchbox. "Pick whatever you like most. Then I'll tell you its story." The matchbox caught her attention and she picked it up.

"I became a printer." This phrase from the story made me think that maybe his life changed. Before, he wanted to know more about the world around him. He tried he's best on copying letters from posters and stuff.

I learned that Walter isn't a good person, not caring about the environment. I THINK I learned that from dyamontae. My personal connection is that I don't really sort out my garbage, cause I get too lazy haha. Noting really pushed my thinking to be honest. And our big ideas were pretty similar.

Not much because a lot of the group were drawing and taking about random things that does not relate to the topic, but I learned from some people that the colours mean something about the characters and when the music swoops to the floor they pictured it cleaned or it made the floor vibrate.

I learned this from Mr. Hong, Jesse, and Ashley.

That I get rushed sometimes when I go to school because I'm late or I just don't care and take my time. e.g. mr. Hong pushed my thinking when he was talking about his morning when he gets ready.

The Matchbox Diary

(Big Idea)
What I think the big idea about the story (the matchbox diary) is that it's about an old man and his little great granddaughter. The great granddaughter was curious about a box. She asks her great grandfather about what's inside the box. He asks her to come and sit on her lap. He then opens the box... There was a bunch of matches inside the box. He tells his little granddaughter about why he used a bunch of old matches and he put something that remind him about his childhood.

(What I learned from others)
What the people from my group that you should pay more attention to your surroundings, they also thought that the old man enjoyed putting things memorable from his childhood.

The book is about a boy named Jack and is invited to the princesses 10th birthDay party! As he was really poor he dint have a gift to give to the princess so he decided to make a cake! After making the cake... He was going to the party

I learned from my peers that everyone has different opinions on what they thought of the story I obviously had my own opinion of what I thought. I learned it from my group because we were sharing what we thought about it we were also showing our gift of words to each other.I didn't have any personal connection in the group discussion but I do have a connection from the book " old things that people have saved for years,filled with stories I got to admit I still do have some of my teddy bears that I had since I was little and I know that I had a special memory with them. I can't think of an example from the group discussion that pushed my thinking.

When I was reading the matchbox diary I made many connections one of my favourite connection was when I left Burma to go to Canada. I didn't know much about my culture when I left.

Novel Approach
====================
1.) I learned that there was kind of somewhat phenomenal activity going on when Dylan was compared to looking at color and his mum just seeing white. The cat was playing with a bone, the news paper the guy was reading was upside down and in another page. In a crowd crouched something with a smile like no other. It was almost as if Dylan's mother which everyone knew did not care about her surroundings was forced to adopt Dylan. Its like Dylan fell from the sky or mysteriously appeared somewhere. I first started my hypothesis by searching up 'meaning Dylan' Son of the wave, born near the sea, influence. Its like Dylan was watch under government agents. The people and the cat in the pictures clearly went paying attention to their stuff. The guy reading the news paper, or at least that's what he's trying to do clearly has his eyes on something else. Dylan!
2.) I discovered these phenomenal activity's by the help of Vera.
3.) I always felt like i was under government watch.
4.) Our group didn't discuss anything really. We were all paying attention to the strange things happening.

@ Everyone - The website is experiencing technical difficulties. However, I'm hoping it allows me to make updates later this evening. The bugs should be fixed.

I'm the meantime, compete your homework.

1.) Math - 3 worksheets on plotting points to make diagrams
2.) Novel Approach - Work on your powerful response. Share it with a few people in your picture book groups and give each other peer feedback directly on your Google documents. Respond to feedback and edit/revise your powerful response according to your criteria and rubric for a powerful response. 😀👍✌🏻

1) I learned If you put your mind to something you could reach it. Such as Wesley did in the book. I learned this from SAVAGE LOGAN.

2) I somewhat learned it from two people but one was different from the other. It was Tamim and Logan.

3) When Tamim said "If you really want something just believe in yourself." I try really hard to reach my goal of being a soccer player and I try really hard to get this special girl because I believe in myself that I could reach this goal.

4) When Chance said " He's different that pushed my thinking further because I think he's just a creative person that thinks more then the others people. H is just a normal person with a big passion of knowledge.

5) Logan's big idea was "if you put your mind to something you could reach its."
Tamim's big idea was "If you really want something just believe in yourself."
Chance's big idea was "it's okay to be different because you still are a human and you should just reach for your goals."
