1.) MATH:

Watch this video on rotations to get an idea of what you will be learning about in your next lesson.

2.) LA/NOVEL APPROACH:

Your next Book Club meeting is on Friday.
Make sure you complete the assigned readings and Gift of Words/Thinking & Learning Questions/ Visible Thinking.
Follow your schedule!

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

In paragraph form, write about how you feel your first NOVEL APPROACH book club discussion went today.
include the following in your paragraph:

1.) Overall success
2.) What went well.
3.) What you will do differently next time.
4.) At least one thing you learned from someone in else in your group and how they pushed your
thinking.

Don't forget to support each of the above points with supporting examples.

1.) The overall succes was how everyone had a lot to say and had their own opinions and comments for their gift of words and thinking and learning questions.

2.) The processes of sharing our opinions and ideas went very well. Like I said above, everyone had things to say and sometimes said something that changed my thinking.

3.) One of my group members was being disrespectful to other peoples opinions and comments and interrupted a lot of people. Some of my group members didn't complete their work.

4.) Coco pushed my thinking by adding to my gift of words.

My PAR-
1.) Overall success
I believe our time was used pretty well, and would say that this was a pretty successful meeting.
2.) What went well.
I guess my group had a lot of things we could share. Many of us thought in different ways, but I think overall, we all agreed with each other's theories, or thinking. We actually stayed on task pretty well, and only got sidetracked from the book (we'd make connections, that would keep going and going).
3.) What you will do differently next time.
Next time, I think we should be more aware of the time. Mr.Hong and Mr.Fisher also said that we should only pick some of the Gift of Words to complete, because my group kind of assumed that we had to finish all of them.
4.) At least one thing you learned from someone in else in your group and how they pushed your thinking.
For one of the Gift of Words, someone said that the character didn't want to seem weak, which made me think about how maybe they just didn't want to be hurt again.

Today in class, we got together with our novel approach groups for the first time, and discussed what we had assigned for ourselves the previous day. Overall, I believe our time was used pretty well, and would say that this was a pretty successful meeting. What I really liked about my group was that we had a lot of things we could share, and talk about. Many of us thought in different ways, but I think overall, we all agreed with each other's theories, or thinking. We actually stayed on task pretty well, and only got sidetracked from the book (we'd make connections, that would just keep going and going). Of course, there are a few things I'd try to fix the next time we get together. First, I think we should be more aware of the time. Mr.Hong and Mr.Fisher also said that we should only pick some of the Gift of Words to complete, because my group kind of assumed that we had to finish all of them. As I mentioned, my group members all think in different ways, and when we discussed our book, I got many ideas from what my group members where suggesting. We did everything very fast because we were fast and good at this so we got everything.

We got everything done on time and we shared everything and didn't miss anyone.

Karman told me something in T&L and it pushed my thinking cause it was cool and I didn't think about it.

I feel like overall we did pretty good. We were mainly on topic and managed to finish going over all our Gift of Words. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to give everyone a chance to say all of their last two Thinking & Learning questions. We only ha done person who didn't finish their work but other than that, I'll say we had a pretty efficient book club meeting.

2.) What went well.
What went well was some of our ideas for the gift of words were pretty kind of similar but also different. It made us able to write down the other people's ideas which can push our thinking.

3.) What you will do differently next time.
Next time, we can try to somehow say our GOWs and T&L questions faster so we can finish.

4.) At least one thing you learned from someone in else in your group and how they pushed your thinking.
Everyone pushed my thinking, but I think the person who pushed it the most was Jessica H. For the phrase, ""I was in love," she says through gritted teeth.", I thought that Melissa (Ellie's mom) was mad at her father because he thought she was too distracted with boys and dating that she didn't think much about her grades. Jessica said that Melissa was probably just embarrassed because she had to deal with this in front of Ellie.

During our book clubs. There were things we did well and some things we can change to be more productive and get more work done.
I feel like overall we did pretty good. We were mainly on topic and managed to finish going over all our Gift of Words. Well yeah, our group was great and everythinh but there were some points that I would like to talk about and things that we could improve next time. So basically everyone finished they're jobs and everyone discussed their parts. We had a very good discussion and everyone was pretty chill with each other. What we could have worked on was to not get off-topic and to not get distracted much. All of us added to each others thinking a lot and Roshin added to my thinking when we were at the first gift of word. He talked about how he thought the word meant that someone's trash could be other's treasures which I thought was a very interesting way. Overall, our group did good but we should try not to get distracted easily.

For overall success I think we were mostly on topic because we would talk about our booklet stuff and maybe not anything else that's off topic. Also we quickly went through it so we finished fast.
What went well was we would take turns on saying what we wrote because that's how we push other peoples thinking and we would sometimes have the same answer but not always.
What we should do differently next time was we should be more slower in going through the booklet because maybe someone might miss what a person said in my group and I think my we should all take turns talking about what we wrote because sometimes two people may talk at the same time. I don't know who pushed my thinking but in one of the thinking and learning questions someone in the other class in my group pushed my thinking.

1.) I think our group did pretty good except a few people weren't finished their homework. Being "accountable" is a huge role and is really important especially when you are working in groups.
2.) The thing that went pretty well was that we bounced each others ideas off of each other. I mean like if Ray said something, then May, Eric or me would also have connections. That is also really important when it comes to book club discussions.
3.) Personally I think the book clubs went great so I don't think we could've done anything different to make it better.
4.) Ray pushed my thinking by adding to my gift of words.

To be honest our book club went great. The overall discussion was really successful. We stayed on task (for the most part) and finished most of the gift of words, and thinking and learning question. Next time I think we'll focus on the gift of words that we struggled with, first and then do the other ones later. And try to speak one at a time more often. I learned that "Gauntlet" can mean other things other then A LOT of work. Lawrence said that the math could've been used to mean challenging math.

Our book club conversation went a little like this. Tasia would start the conversation. Then everyone would share and somehow laugh at something completely random. Other than that everything went pretty well. We all shared, no one was disrespectful and everyone had fun. I think. Something we need to work on is to not spend so much time on the gift of words because when we got into our groups all we talked about were the gift of words. We didn't even get to talk about anything else. Roshin really pushed my thinking when we were talking about our gift of words. He pushed my thinking by sharing what he thought that word meant. His definition of the word was something I had never thought about which really expanded my knowledge. Overall, I think everything went pretty well.

Surprisingly, today's book club meeting went quite well. What went well you might ask? Well, our group stayed on task for pretty much the entire time. Although, sometimes the connections would branch out a little bit too far. For example, a connection about being too hot in other places in the world turned into talking about being deceased (don't ask). If there's one thing that didn't work out well, it would be the fact that we didn't have a chance to go through all of are GOWs or T&L questions. Next time, we'll try to make more time to go through all of them (manage our time better). Because this book club meeting worked out so well, I ended up actually learning something from my group members. Someone added to my thinking by saying that "Ben didn't want to get close to anyone because of the fear of losing them, like how he lost his dad." I really liked this idea. Overall, today's book club meeting worked out really well!

...sorry this is so bad.

Well, I mean our group for our book club was pretty good I think we were semi-successful. Sometimes we were thrown off track and got distracted yet we were good most of the time. What went well? First, everyone had different ideas and there was a lot to learn. Most of the time we were on track, when we were we had lots of ideas flowing and everyone was kind and respectful of each others opinions. Hmmmmm... What we would do differently next time? Well, I think we should go somewhere more quiet because it was pretty loud where I was and we got distracted easily. As well as just staying on task we like to chat and laugh sometimes we don't want to do school work yet, we still have to do it so I would probably just try and keep everyone on task next time. Well, we really didn't learn a lot from each other, we had different wording and other things yet our outcomes were practically the same.

Overall I think that the book club meeting today was pretty successful. We were all pretty on task, and we were able to finish discussing all the gift of words and thinking and learning questions. Next time, maybe we could discuss things a bit further, because we still had time to kill after. I learned a lot of things that pushed my thinking from my group, and Mr Fisher (who stopped by to observe us). I think one of the main times that my thinking was pushed, was when Kohane said that maybe Billie reminded Liberty of her mom. I had never actually thought of that before.

My P.A.R.
We had our very first book club discussion. I was excited to talk to my group about the book and what they thought of the book. During our book club discussions, all of us were focused and we were respectful to one another. We took turns and everyone waited patiently for their turn. We got off task about once or twice because someone in our group started talking about fortnite. Overall everything was great. I think that next time everyone should come prepared because there were two people who didn't complete their work but they caught up because we started talking about everyone's opinion on the book and stuff like that. Miles pushed my thinking for one of the T&L questions.

Today, we had our first book club discussion and we actually did pretty well. We all managed to complete section 1, therefore we could discuss the whole section. We also didn’t get off task except for when our connections would go on and on. Additionally, we all had different opinions and thoughts, so we learned a lot from each other. Next time, we will attempt to manage our time better because we ran out of time for our Gift Of Words and T&L questions. A good example of learning from others is when someone in my group said “Ben won’t move because it would be weird and embarrassing for him to be arguing with his mom one minute and hugging her the next just because his mom said something.” This made me think that Ben is really prideful, therefore he won’t back down. Overall, I think we had a very successful book discussion.

We had our first book club discussion for our new novels. Everyone shared expect for someone because he didn't know that he was missing pages, but he still shared the ones that he did do. We came up with an idea of the "talking stick" which later on became scissors but it wasn't super successful. Other than that I think we still did a semi good job on sharing. What I think we should do next time is to be more focused and go somewhere more quieter because we couldn't really hear each other when we shared. Cassandra pushed my thinking for one of the thinking and learning questions. She had written down a point in her answer and shared it. I had an idea for that one point she said and added to my thinking. I didn't really think of the fact that she pointed out so I think I wrote down a reasonable amount to add to my answer.

Today,we got into our novel approach book club discussion,let me tell you what we did in this discussion and how was it. Let me just first talked about the overall success, I think we did really well overall in today discussion,although I think that the time is not as much as I thought but I think it went quite well that we were doing what we suppose to do,like writing down what other said or share connections or opinions. Secondly,I think we went well in some part. First of all, I am really happy that we were staying focused in the whole time and we won't get distracted by others which I think it went smoothly and well. Also, it went well because we all get a chance to talk about our own opinions and we will always try to push others thinking. During this discussion, if we thought someone said something that we didn't agree,we won't say something bad because everyone have their own opinions and I think that there was no wrong or correct. So what we gonna do different next time is that try to ask some questions when they are sharing their own opinions because I felt like today,I didn't really ask any questions and so sometimes I feel confused why did some of them think that or ask any question that I was confused on. And I also wanted to share some connections next time if I think of any of them,cause actually in this book I also make some connections but I didn't share it so maybe I will share it next time. I learned from Casey when we were sharing our ideas, he pushed my thinking when he was sharing the 'Gift of words' , because when I heard it,and I never think about that and so he pushed my thinking but mostly, we all had the similar ideas so I didn't really learned much from others.

Our first book club discussion went smoothly. Everyone were able to share their thinkings with the group members. I had a few gift of words where I just can't think of anything to write about. But during the discussion I filled the blank up while the others had there turns to share. This way I had more connections and thinkings to write about and to support my powerful response in the future. Coco had lots of great ideas and explanations, which was a big help for me. Although the discussion was great, a few people just kept on going off task and interrupting people with irrelevant things. Next time we'll try to be on task 95% of the time.

I can’t believe that that was the first book club discussion... but it went pretty well. With Mr. Hong’s help, I think the overall success was that the group was able to stay on task. Not just that, but the ideas that the group shared were amazing. Though some people, including me, didn’t exactly finish the homework. I would say that how they were able to connect to each other’s ideas is something that went well. Someone would first say something and then someone else would say how either they disagreed or how they connected to the idea. I think we could probably argue a lot less. They would talk about something and then one of them would disagree, which would cause the start of the small argument. Honestly, all of them pushed my thinking. I’m new to the book and wasn’t able to read it until now, so you could pretty much say that everything they said was a push to what I would be expecting.

Today’s book club discussion gave me.. Lots of laughter. We did stay on task, but we took longer than expected for the gift of words and ended up having not enough time. We still have a lot of gift of words and thinking and learning questions to do. But I think our discussions were related to the gift of words. I’m not going to tell you who made us all laugh like crazy though. *cough cough* Anyways, I think we did pretty good overall. We just need to use our time more wisely.
