CLASS DISCUSSIONS (TEAMS CHANNELS)

Participate to Learn!

Research shows 'CLASSROOM DISCUSSIONS' also improve student learning. We have a variety of discussions happening right during our daily check-ins, mini-lessons, various Teams channels, chats, class website, and your virtual book clubs. The Teams channels allow for what we call 'ASYNCRONOUS DISCUSSIONS'. This means you have the flexibility of participating at different times when you are available. TEAMS CHANNELS allow for you to read what was written by your peers at anytime. What is the BIG IDEA here? The BIG IDEA is that you must PARTICIPATE in DISCUSSIONS in order to be successful in your learning!

SHAPE OF THE DAY:

1.) MATH:

Upload previous days completed work (marked/corrected - 6.7 Solve Problems by Working Backwards #1-8.). Make sure you have uploaded all math for the week at the end of the day.
Complete/Mark/Correct Chapter Self-Test #1-6 and Chapter Review #1-9
Answer key
Test on Adding/Subtracting integers on MONDAY. (Using different strategies to add and subtract integers)

2.) LA / NOVEL APPROACH:

Meet with your Book Clubs in your Channels and DISCUSS your readings and work. Be accountable to your group members! Keep up with your work!

3.) PE:

REST DAY
Check your FreshGrade to make sure you have made all your daily updates this week.

4.) ART:

Make your final edit/revisions based on the peer feedback and submit your final sway presentation.. You can write your learning reflection here as well.

Online school is pretty fun, and during assignments I ask my friends and peers for help. Today, I'll be telling you about group discussions and how people helped me improve my work. Whenever I don't understand something, I usually ask my friends for help first, and they really help me a lot (thanks) and gave me some feedback on my music power point/slide about my favourite musician. I also got feedback and asked Mr.Hong for help but I don't ask him a lot. For example, I wasn't so sure about what to do for music and memory and I went on teams to ask my friends/peers. They told me it was on Fresh Grade, and I finally found it. Another example is, how they gave me feedback to improve my work. Like, for my digital photography, I got some good feedback from Mr.Hong and from my peers. It really helped me improve my pictures and made them look good quality. That all on it's on can really help improve your work and help you reach for extending! Discussions with classmates can help you and improve you work as well. Like for Novel Approach my group has had a discussion for making our criteria and our work. I asked them if the pages were okay and good enough for everyone to read, because I didn't want to overwhelm everyone with too many pages. Feedback and class discussions are very helpful for your learning, it helps everyone to improve and to further their learning.

@Ethel-For your topic sentence, can you try not to announce what you are going to do. Instead try to make it sound like you are putting your supporting sentences in one short and brief sentence.

As you know, we have started online teaching for quite a while now. We still learnt in lessons, submitted homework, and of course, gave peer feedback to our group mates. Today, I am going to tell you the importance of peer assessments.
After the peer assessments, you and the other group mates can improve! You will give him/her/them feedback, by looking through their presentations, and you can also get a reference. They can also look at your photos and improve. More importantly, they can give you comments, so you can improve your photos or presentation. For example, one of my group mates told me to change the background color of my slides. After I done so, it really looked more appealing! Peer assessments are very useful, and certainly a essential tool to help you out!

Feedback. You must have heard this word a lot in your school days, but that doesn't mean its not important and you should ignore it. Feedback can help lead you to success or give you really good marks, and I can prove that since I had plenty of experiences on others giving me feedback.

Once a upon a time, on a nice sunny day in my house (I was in quarantine) I was checking my Team notifications to see if any one gave me some feedback, and yes someone did. I was overwhelmed with annoyance/happiness. I can improve my work, but the annoying part is I have to improve my work. I was given feedback on one of my sway presentations. It was to make my Lego T-rex move a little more to the right or left. I set off at once (before re-reading it again and seeing if it was directed at me, and when it was directed at me there was some groaning). I made my T-rex look better in the photo and tried my best to fill the request. Now, I await for more feedback to come in to my grasp, so I can improve on my work and meet the success criteria.

I made my T-rex look better in the photo and tried my best to fill the request. Now, I await for more feedback to come in to my grasp, so I can improve on my work and meet the success criteria.

everyone needs there thinking to be pushed in some way to come up with better answers, questions, theories or ideas if its from your friends, classmates, family or even teachers. so today I'm going to tell you about how my classmates/teachers changed my thinking about the book Mr. Terupt. some times there are things in books that I just read over without thinking anything but in our book clubs on teams it shows those things that I just read over. When I read the questions they make me think more about that part in the book. It makes me realize it could play a pretty big part when I get closer to the end of the book. I learned a lot about being in a team and now I know the most important thing is to talk with your team and cooperate and SOAR!!

Do you know why sometimes we have boring discussions. It's for feedback. They may be boring but without them we wouldn't learn fro our mistakes. Here's an example,

One time I was doing my art and forgot to do something. But then my classmate Spencer told me I was supposed to do 8 techniques. If I never had that dissuasion I would have never knew that and I would get a bad grade.

Now you know why there important. If it's never happen to you, why don't you form a group and talk about your work.

Everyone needs help to improve in some way or another. The way great way to get feedback is by having conversations with others.

I got feedback from Charlie saying I should put the other photos that show my improvement from feed back I would'nt have known to do that if it weren't for Charlie.

That statement shows how feedback can help you and others improve.

"No!" You think to your self. Someone has given you feedback! This means that you have to improve. " What a waste of time." You think. Even though improvement might seem boring, it's very important to your learning. Today I'm going to be telling you how feedback from others pushed my thinking!

One example is for photography. I noticed that Kaelyn gave me feedback, on one of my photos. She said to make for isolated, because the main focus was unclear. It had too many things there. This feedback helped me improve the photo. After the feedback, I used one of my other photos which was more isolated.

In conclusion feedback is very important for your learning, because it helps you improve!

Giving and receiving peer feedback is an essential part of your education. Since we're learning virtually, we can't simply walk up to said person to ask for feedback. However, we can ask for feedback online.

One example of a peer giving feedback to me was when I uploaded my sway link to Teams, and I had asked for feedback. Not too long later, Brieana had responded to my link and suggested I retake my macrophotography photo since it was quite blurry. I agreed with her feedback, and retook the photo. That photo had been much better than my original (other than the fact the sun wasn't as bright), and I was glad Brieana had given feedback. However, sway did make my photos slightly more blurry than the original, so it wasn't as clear as the actual photo, however there was a big difference in the first photo and the second.

Feedback is and will always be one of the best ways to learn. You may think your idea is great, but if others don't give feedback and point out the flaws of it, it will be disastrous

“This is not good” I said to myself, “what am I going to do?” I know! I can ask a friend for some feedback on my photos.

Throughout the photography project I had my doubts whether my photos were good or not, so I asked for feedback. Ethel helped me the most and gave me descriptive feedback on how I could improve my photos and how to better use the techniques. I often referred to the criteria and researched how to do the techniques for my project. (Fill in the frame, bird's eye view, worm’s eye view, etc.). Ethel helped me with feedback for all my photos, and Amy assisted in helping me decide whether one of my photos looks like this technique or this technique. From there on out a did the descriptions, design, and everything all by myself, I just had trouble adjusting to sway. An example of how Ethel helped me is that she told me that my worm's eye view was too far from the tree I was looking up too, so I went under a different tree that I could get closer to and just went under the tree.

Without feedback, my sway project would probably be way worse, now I think it’s improved by a lot. Thanks Ethel and Amy.

"Hmm, something seems off in my photo. But what is it?" Have you ever been in this scenario where you can't figure out what's wrong? Well, here's a solution for you: Peer-assessment! Sometimes, having a different pair of eyes look at your assignment can be just what you need to improve it. Others can often spot things that you won't notice yourself, and help you improve it. An example of this is when I was working on my digital photography project. I took a few pictures, and posted them on Teams. Mr. Hong gave me feedback on almost all my photos, and after taking new ones I can immediately see the improvement. He helped point out things that I didn't notice. In conclusion, peer-assessment is a very important, and very useful way of sharing your learning and improving your work!

In this time, we have online school. We do works after the online school , the work sometimes are difficult so I will ask my friends for help. I will talk about how group discussions and how people helped me improve my work. The group discussions can help me learn new things or other opinions from our group members for example: the sway presentation, many group members send there Sway presentation on the teams so we can give feedback. Sometimes I will ask my friend for help for the music presentation for example they will give me some information about some musician. Sometimes I can't really understand the post a respond on the class website I will ask my sister first but if she don't know I will ask Mr. Hong for help by email. So this is how group discussions and how people helped me improve my work.

I’m sure you probably know that we are all attending online classes now, and it can be a bit hard to get feedback or help from our peers and teachers, since people aren’t online at all times. At school we can easily ask for help, but we can still contact our classmates for help! As I was doing novel approach, I had some difficulties and was wondering what I do for one part, so I asked a question on our book club channel, and a few hours later, Ethel told me what to do, followed by Mr. Hong confirming it. Sometimes you just don’t want to receive any feedback, because it means you have to go edit it, but peer feedback is great to fix all your mistakes! Peer assessment is a great way to improve your work!

One time, while working on my Sway Picture presentation, I came across a price of peer feedback for me. It said that I should brighten up the main focus of my picture(the trunk of a tree). I found this piece of feedback very helpful! So I searched around for a way to do that, and I eventually found a Setting called sharpen! A thank you to the person who gave me this amazing peer feedback! :)

Online classes has started and we can't communicate with our friends, classmates, or our teachers very much. Considering that, students may have questions and want some help. Yet, teachers have their busy lives providing homework, links, criteria, and grading students on their work/projects during the virus. Not every time teachers will get your message for help so that's where your peers come in. Ask questions on any source of contacts you have and boom done. However, there is feedback that needs to be given for students to improve their work.

Seeing how much work teachers put in, they are busy contacting other teachers for other things. So again peer feedback comes to the rescue. For example, approximately two weeks ago we did an art project about photography techniques. We would take pictures and post them on teams to get feedback from our peers and teacher. I was unable to post any pictures because I could not find the right channel. A week later it was fixed and I got feedback from one of my classmates, Megan. She told me to lower my camera a bit for my worm's eye view photo and I must agree, it looks way better.

Peer feedback is amazing and I remember spamming one of my peers for feedback. It really improved my work so if you feel like your work needs to be better, just spam someone for feedback.

Nothing is perfect, but some things are close. Revising your work can improve its quality by a lot. For example, when I was working on my photography project, I received some feedback and pointers to improve my pictures. Some of which included moving closer to the main object, or creating the proper lighting. All of these tips helped me improve the quality of my work immensely. To sum up, acting on feedback will make a big difference in the quality of everything.

Some of the feedback talked about moving closer to to the main object, or creating the proper lighting. All of these tips helped me improve the quality of my work immensely. Ever since we started online classes it's starting to get difficult to get peer feedback because before online classes we could just go up to someone and ask for feedback, but now we have to ask on teams and wait for someone to respond.

But I have gotten feedback from many people since online classes started and an example is when I was doing the photography project Adrian gave me feedback and it was to talk give more of a description for the photos and it helped. This is just one of the times someone gave me feedback but if I kept going the par will start to get long.

In conclusion, peer feedback is really important and useful and you should ask for feedback once in a while to improve on your work.

Due to the school being closed due to the coronavirus, it is harder to get peer feedback. It shouldn`t be much harder to get them from your friends or people you have contact with as text and teams are a thing however you can not ask them in person. Despite this, I can still get feedback and these are a few examples
For the sway art project, I got some feedback from Kayd of the text and gave him some too. I also got some from Adrian and Boswell. I used this feedback to get a better photo for a birds-eye view and also for descriptions. I also used feedback from Mr. Hong which I used to get a better worm’s eye view photo. This feedback really helped me get better more clear photos which lead to a significantly better result.
In conclusion, peer feedback is important and you should try to get it

Peer-feedback is something you have learned in class. Peer-feedback helps you improve your work and see mistakes that perhaps you wouldn't have found by yourself.

For my sway I posted it on teams and got some comment for feed back such as to try to focus on a flower while doing worms eye view. so I went out the next day and took a different picture. I got this peer feedback from Mi. I also got feedback from Amy to capitalize my sentences. I also got feedback from Ethel to not be as close to the flower but me and my parents were busy so I used a photo of flowers on the sidewalk.

Peer-feedback s important for mine and others learning and will help with whatever your doing and improve it.

For example, my macro photography image. I asked Emily which image I should use. She told me that she liked the first image because it had more depth and it resembled what macro photography was supposed to be like.
