Self-regulating as usual!

Today, the division 1 and 2 students went on a field trip to the Kerrisdale arena to go ice skating for the second time. Mr. Fisher and I enjoyed skating and playing hockey with you. We hope that some of you have been inspired by our field trips to learn how to skate even better by signing up for lessons at our local ice rink. We saw significant improvements in your abilities from our last trip to today's. It was amazing to see.

IMPORTANT: Don't forget to wear clothing that Mrs. Chung asked you to wear.

1.) MATH:

Complete any unfinished work.
To make things easier for all of you, if you haven't completed the work from two days ago, simply draw out he grids from the example questions for 3 questions from the assigned work. Post questions here if you have any.

2.) FRENCH:

Quiz on numbers tomorrow
#1-20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. Be prepared for some random number in between, but I promise there will only be a maximum of 5 extra numbers.

3.) ART:

Bring your decorations and wire coat hangers tomorrow if you haven't already done so.

Today, we went ice skating. Write a descriptive paragraph that could inspire someone to go skating for the first time!

SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Engaging hook/intro
2.) 2-3 examples/supporting sentences that could inspire someone to start ice skating
3.) Concluding sentence that leaves the reader wanting to learn more about skating.
4.) You have corrected your grammar, sentence structure, capitals, punctuation, vocabulary, etc.

Gliding along the smooth, shiny surface. It almost feels like you are gliding in the air but your feet are connected to the floor. The ice is slippery, yes, but that's what lets you glide oh so smoothly along the shiny surface. Once you get used to this gliding sensation you feel like you are a professional, even though you aren't. Most people take some time to adjust to skating but some people are naturals. Maybe you could be one too! It may be a little bit chilly but that's what makes it fun! If it was hot there wouldn't even be ice to skate on. So enjoy life to the fullest!

It is really cool, becuase you cna walk on ice! You can skate around really quickly and it feels like you are sliding! And if you just glide after skating really fast, then you feel like you are floating in mid air. I will be a fun expirience! Skating, what a fun sport!

Ice skating is a basic sport that anyone could learn. If you want to take lessons and learn, you would probably need skates to actually skate. Once you get the hang of skating on the wall, it’s fun to let go of that wall and finally start to skate without any help. Of course it’s a process, but once you know how to it’s very fun to skate around. Skating is a very fun sport, and it doesn’t require a lot of things in order to learn it.

There are many different ways to learn how to skate, what will you learn about it?

Ice skating is a basic sport that anyone could learn. If you want to take lessons and learn, you would probably need skates to actually skate. Once you get the hang of skating on the wall, it’s fun to let go of that wall and finally start to skate without any help. I’ve never taken skating lessons, but we anually go skating as a field-trip. At first, I was not quite fond of skating because it was cold and my feet would cramp up but I slowly started growing on it. Now skating is what I’m looking forward to at the start of the school year. Skating is a way to escape from reality. when skating you feel graceful, artistic, and athletic all at the same time. And when you fall (which happens a lot) you learn to get up and try harder. You learn to never give up and to keep on trying and improving. This will carry on to everything you do, school, and other activities. Skating is also incredibly good for your health, mentally and physically. Ice skating is a stress-reliever. Having company while skating is great for unwinding at the end of the week. It’s also super fun :). Skating also builds up endurance and helps with weight management. So those are a few reasons you should go ice-skating! :)

When you skate, you can relax and feel the breeze blowing through you. You may slip from time to time, but its a part of the fun! Falling, trying to get up, falling again and finally getting up, then get back to skating! Its like walking on a tundra with a cool wind blowing at you, except you can go faster and it's more slippery!

Skating is a fun exercise that just relaxes your whole body, and when you touch the ice, you just want to keeeeeeeeep going...

Have you ever skated before? If you haven’t, you should try it!!
Skating is a super fun sport you can do with your family and friends. When you glide through smooth Ice you can feel the cold but refreshing breeze brush past your face. Skating is something that doesn’t take a lot of time to be able to do. Just learning a couple of basic strategies like bending your legs, pushing forward, keeping you balance etc. Can make you be skating in no time.

Ice skating is a perfect sport that everyone should learn, because you will have a lot of fun when you skate fast. When I arrived to Canada, my first after class is Ice skating. When I first stand on ice, I feel horrible, I don’t know anything about skating, I thought it is impossible to learn how to skate because I was very old and I don’t like to wear the skates because my feet hurt so much, also, I don’t have any experience. But after one months, I still not good but at least I can jump and know how to stand on the ice. I think I am very happy that I chose skating as one of my sports.

Wow, it is unbelievable. Cool air breeze across my face. The speed, the frozen air, the ice. It is fairy tale! That’s what I think at the first time I skated on the ice. I believe who ever tried it, will love it. That’s the reason why I like skating. Actually, in fact, I am still a beginner.

I have fallen down infinite times, I couldn’t even count. If you have never fallen down, you will never succeed. This is the reason why ice skaters succeed. So, don’t say you are bad at skating or don’t like skating when you fall down. And that’s why we won’t give up and stand up again, keep on skating. Skating is a activity available to everyone. Anyone is able to learn how to skate regardless of body type. One of my personal favourite activities to do when skating is to teach others how to skate; I love helping others reach a goal that I myself had yearned for long ago. Skating has been something I have been enjoying for years, and I am very disheartened to know that this will be the last time I will ever have the opportunity to skate with my peers.

I wasn't able to stop singing that in the ice rink today. Skating is actually very fun other than the pain in your ankles after you're done with it. Of course, skating never usually comes naturally for anyone. You always have to practice but once you get the hang of it, it's quite fun. I personally don't enjoy hockey very much but a lot of people do and if it's your first time going skating, I think it would be nice to try it out. Skating also makes you feel free. If you go at the right speed, gliding all the way through, it feels like you're flying. It's amazing! Even just hanging out with friends on ice is fun!

Overall, skating in general just gives you that feeling of freedom other than sitting in your room, playing video games and flying with wings which is impossible right now for this day and age. I would just personally really recommend trying it.

Ahhhh......
Here on a bright Canadian December day, we have our special skating rinks open to the public! And if your the person who likes to have nice cool air brush your face like it was hot and made u feel like your were in Disney’s winter wonderland which is a great experience!

But, us in CANADA is an even better experience than in a winter wonderland, you are able to glide across frozen lakes,rivers and we also have some of the worlds coolest ice skating rinks open to all and this also help Canada gain some extra money so that we can improve our skating rinks to highest level in the WORLD!!!

But, if you don’t believe me than go ask everyone else they can tell u how amazing Canada is and how cool their skating rinks are! But really just come and enjoy the country and try out our traditions!

Look, I'm a bird, flying across the i- oops. I tripped, but it was worth it!

If you don't know how to skate and you're afraid to try, don't worry! Everybody had to start somewhere. Once you start, and if you're with some good friends, you can't stop. Skating is an amazing experience that everybody has to try; you too!

Even though skating can be difficult, you should learn. Maybe you'll even find a new passion for ice hockey or figure skating too!

Ice Skating is fun and healthy for all ages because it’s one of the most competitive and exciting sports of all time. I think it’s thrilling because when you’re skating you feel as if nothing will be able to stop you since there is no friction. You don’t have to use much energy to have fun because you can slide around. Although it’s amusing, you must be careful to not get cut from the blades.

Ice skating is also seen as a competitive sport. Casually, you can race your friends for fun, but ice skating is also an Olympic sport. Furthermore, it’s also elegant and dance skating has become popular as well. In addition, another sport that utilizes ice skating is hockey. However, this sport is more aggressive and faster.

Ice skating is healthy for your body because you are training your leg muscles. You must move your legs back and forth for you to be able to move on the ice. It’s also important to have good balance because it can become difficult to remain stable on the ice. You would also need to have more endurance because in order to skate for long periods of time you need a lot of energy.

All in all, skating is a fun sport that you should definitely try because it’s a great way to stay healthy and be competitive while also enjoying it.
