MARS ONE PROJECT WEBSITE

Today, you co-created criteria for your Mars project with Mr. Redican. You came up with ideas and started your 'blue-prints' for something that could help you survive on Mars. Ask yourself, what are some barriers to life on Mars? Why would we even think about moving to Mars? Keep thinking of ideas for the 'MARS PROJECT' and what you want to create/invent! What materials do you plan on using? Don't forget about the learning intentions! You will need to clearly show your understanding of extreme environments and barriers to life on Mars!

1.) MATH: Complete any unfinished worksheets (Subtraction - Number lines)

2.) SCIENCE: Think of ideas for your 'MARS PROJECT'. You will receive your criteria sheet from Mr. Redican in class tomorrow.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Think about your science project you're doing with Mr. Redican.
If you had an opportunity to create something with Lego Windstorms, what would you create?
Describe 3-5 factors that would help you survive on Mars. Remember to mention some barriers to life on Mars and how your machine would overcome these barriers.
Comment on two other posts by asking them questions related to how it will help them overcome one barrier to life on mars.

@ Ben - A barrier is something that prevents the ou from doing something. For example, a lack of oxygen is a barrier to life in space. Does that make sense?

I would make a mechanical human being because it will be like someone else(e.g interact and do things like a human) and also it will be able to do things human can't do and will not require lots resource to keep it alive like food and water also I would make it automatically warm it self up.
My machine can help me through the weather by creating something that will cover up and not be hit and also will be strong enough to withstand anything even a crater.

Things that will help me live on Mars
Firstly is oxygen because oxygen is what a person need to breathe with in order to live
Next is water because you will be dehydrated without water in a couple hours.
Then is food because I don't want to feel the feeling of starving
Lastly is something that would keep me warm from coldness because I won't be able to do anything when I'm freezing or sick.

Item 1) Oxygen With a tank full of oxygen you can survive a while. But plants tho. if you had like a small room in Mars and with like 20 plants it will benefit you greatly.

Item 2) Food. With food you can last a while. But what if you run out of food? Easy its why you carry vegetables dirt and water to grow some more plants. What if you're a meataterian? Just bring some animals you can even have a farm and a jar of hormones.

Item 3) Shelter if you're going to live in a rover on Mars, what good is a rover with no power? Like in Minecraft when you make the best bow ever but then you realize you have no arrows... If you want close to infinite power you're gonna need a lot of solar panels. That way you can have some extra energy to heat. It is cold in Mars.

Item 4) The final step is hydration. Either you trust the facts Conner found that there is water on Mars or you make water like that guy in a movie. With water you can also soil plants and get potatoes and many other things to eat. I might be wrong about this but i think there is weak dirt on Mars. *I might be wrong*

If I were to make something that would be on mars I would make a car!!!!! At the back of the car would be oxygen tanks the oxygen would flow through a tube that would lead its way where the drivers are.

2) It would have water tubes on the top of the vehicle water would flow through the tube just like how the oxygen tanks work.

3) inside the car it would have deep pockets those pockets would have food in them there would be pockets that are cold to make food and drinks cold of course and there would be a warm pocket so it can make the food hot.

4) and covering the car would be a big window protecting the drivers.

@ Logan - A barrier to survival in the Arctic is the extreme cold. If you don't have proper clothes and protection, you would freeze to death.

Think about what you need to survive in Space and on Mars? What is a barrier to survival in space?

~What I would Create ~
Based on the blue print I made I would create something called "The Cube" ( Mr.Hong came up with the name ) it is a cube that you could live in.
So it has build in heaters that is powered by the sun. Then outside there is a tank that has 50% Oxygen and then the other 50% comes from Carbon Dioxide from Mars that turns into oxygen ( Not sure if this can happen I just saw it somewhere?) , Then from that it go through a tube inside where we could breathe in air to survive. And obviously there's food . There is also a little dome that has soil and grass in it and on top the grows a plant ( well a tree) And everyday you have to water it and and put it in the light .But over all i think i just used my imagination for this .

The barrier to survival on Mars is no oxygen and no water. Without these things we humans will not survive.
I would create a suit that makes oxygen and water.

I don't know what Lego windstorms are but I know what lego is.

I would crate a model diversity on Mars for everyone to start a new and better life and it would be a good economy for everybody

What I would bring to Mars.

I would bring food to keep me fed, I would bring water, and I would bring lots of oxygen tanks so I can breathe.

I would make a windmill
It would help me produce electricity.
But I would also have solar panels just in case.
Now I'll be able to check my instagram 24/7.
I would bring 6 suits that astronaut wear,seeds,200 bottles of siracha,food,a lighter,warm clothes,sunscreen,and a family photo.

i would make a home to live in. it would have lasers just in case. It would have plants inside the house, because then you could take off your suit and breath. Oh yeah it would also have wheels so it could move around with you and a heating system to keep you warm.

I would build a green house and a fish tank full of plankton because it gives us air. It would also be nice and we would have oxygen. Also for food.

A way people could survive on mars is
1: Use titanium and radioactive proof walls since you need to protect that
2: Make the base small so less oxygen needs to flow so more oxygen can be in the base
3: FOOD! make a greenhouse and store until the greenhouse is good

If i would bring anything in Mars to survive, i would bring food, clothes, and building materials. Food will help me a lot surviving Mars. If im hungry, i can just eat! Clothes would help me feel warm whenever its cold. And building materials help a lot. I could build my own base in Mars and be safe.

Before I live in Mars, I would create my own shelter that is also a vehicle. It's like a house that can walks. It's slow though :/

Inside the shelter has three floors. The 3rd floor is where I can control this big shelter (I haven't had a name for it yet...). The second floor is where I sleep, eat, change, whatsoever. The 1st floor is where I store some tanks of oxygen.

On mars you would need :

Air tanks
Specific foods
Blankets or something to keep you warm
A shelter
Another person ( to help and to make sure you don't go crazy )
Etc.

What will help me survive on Mars.

Mars is a life-risking place to live on. The reason behind this is because first of all its really cold there that means you can catch hypothermea,
Second of all there is no oxygen and Oxygen tanks and plants are going to make the ship heavy so you will most likely use up all your gas.

What you would need.

• Anything that provides oxygen

• A space suit of course

• Companions so you won't turn into a psycho when you're lonely.

• Your space shuttle and the materials you need to build your home.

• Dry or liquid food. (They said solid food is not edible in space.)

• Games like Monopoly, UNO, Trouble and more. (So you won't get bored.)

• A senior who knows all about Mars.

If we did so a PAR we should have done what our favourite memory with Mr.Redican was☺

BTW: mine would be when he was playing basketball with me and some of my classmates!

And also when we did community building with Mr.Redican... that was fun!

Me and my dad where thinking of making the tracker from Lego mind storms
I would bring a few plants for oxygen some seeds for fruits,vegetables and some water.
