Pro-D Days - #thelearningneverstops

Yesterday, we had an early dismissal to make time for the student conferences. We had a good turn out over the last few days! We had 27 families join us for meetings. We only have 2 more to go! Remember, for your learning to be successful, you, your parents, and your teacher must be involved in the process! I was happy to meet and answer everyone's questions! 1.Why did all the Neanderthals disappear all of a sudden?

I chose this question because I saw the question on the news. It said that scientists found out why all the Neanderthals disappeared abruptly. I became curious, but I did not find the answer since the news was very annoying to read.

I want to find out why all the Neanderthals vanished or died. I feel like that is a very good question because nothing disappears without a reason. Secondly, the question has many reasons on why the Neanderthals disappeared so quickly. I like to hear from different opinions, superstitious or not. That way I know more about the topic I like. Finally, I like the question because I read plenty of books on Neanderthals, and I am quite interested in them. Neanderthals show the very first close-to-humans-like creature.

Therefore, I chose this question as one of my questions because of these reasons. Did you know that Neanderthals were expert hunters when it comes to giant animals?

2. Is the Homo Erectus a direct or non-direct ancestor of the Homo Sapiens?

We know that the homo erectus was very close to homo sapiens, but were they our direct ancestor? Homo sapiens have to evolve from something. I chose this question for on of my two questions, because I want to know were did homo sapiens came from, and how.

I always wondered where did modern day humans come from. The Neanderthals died abruptly, so they were out of the equation. That left the homo erectus. Next, everything has to evolve from somewhere. For example, frogs evolved from temnospondyls. Modern day humans has to come from somewhere. Lastly, I always had a obsession with the origin of humans. Some say god or gods created homo sapiens. I do not believe in that. I want to find the truth.

In conclusion, I am very interested with the origins of human beings. I once thought (when I was young) that evolution was fake, and humans came from elsewhere.

• Why did the early humans decide to leave Africa?
•When in time did cooking over a fire strat and why?
•how are humans going to be in the future if we continue with what we do and eat

I dont have to main questions because they are in my inquiry notebook and we were not asked to bring them home

BRAINSTORMING/QUESTIONS:
- How did our physique change over time? Did it change for better or for worse?
- How long was the average lifespan for the Homo Erectus? Did our lifespan increase from theirs? If so, how?
- How do osteologists find out what something looks like just from a few bones? Or does it take a number of fossils from the same specimen in order to piece it together? Are they accurate or just guesses?

During the lesson, we had on early humans/ Homo Erectus/ and Homo Sapians both classes were asked to develop some inquiry/ early not very deep questions, to try and boost our ideas and learning.
Here are some questions a came up with while watching that amazing and very well produced and directed documentary.

Q1- When early humans began to migrate towards Europe and Asia, what other forms of transportation did they use other than walking?

Q2- What was the process that early human endured to become bigger, and become much more intelligent ( stages, levels, etc )?

Q3- What kind of technological advancements were there between the homo Erectus and early humans?

Q4- Was medicine effective in such an early time when our brains and minds didn't work as they did now?

These are currently my only deep thinking questions, I hope this can help everyone else generate more ideas and basically give an example.
