Today, we welcomed Mr. T into our classroom! He will be with us for most of the school year as he completes his final practicum to become a teacher. He gave a great presentation about himself and it was followed by some great questions from the students. Students had their word work pre-test, started science, and learned about GCF and LCM. They ended the day with music class with Ms. Chung.

IMPORTANT:
1.) Presentation on diversity tomorrow.

LEARNING INTENTION: I can explain in my own words what 'Greatest Common Factor means' (GCF).
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) PARAGRAPH FORMAT: intro/body/ conclusion.
2.) GIVENS: Pay close attention to your spelling, capitals, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, etc.
3.) INTRO: Make it as exciting and engaging as possible with good adjectives!
4.) BODY: Explain how to find the GCF of 2 numbers. For example, 24 and 36.
5.) CONCLUSION: Tie up your paragraph smoothly.
6.) PEER FEEDBACK/SELF-ASSESSMENT: Give 1 student 2 things to improve on based on the above criteria.
7.) REVISED VERSION: Based on the feedback you receive or the self-assessment you complete, post a revised version as a reply to your original post.

GCF is the abbreviation of Greatest Common Factor. Factors are the numbers divisible by another number. In the case of greatest common factor, you find 2 numbers and circle the factors that both numbers have. The largest of the circled numbers is the gcf.

@Aishi really good paragraph! maybe try to make your intro more engaging, but the body was very clear and concise. another thing is maybe instead of just using synonyms to describe "greatest common factor" in a different way, you could elaborate a bit more. sorry idk how to explain it better but overall amazing paragraph and followed the criteria :)

It's easy to simply find factors of a regular number, but what about the greatest of two numbers? There's something called GCF which stands for greatest common factor. How to get the GCF is by finding factors between two numbers, then finding the biggest factor of both numbers.

For example, let's use twenty-four and fifty-four. All the factors in twenty-four are one, two, three, four, six, eight, twelve, and twenty-four itself. All the factors in fifty-four are one, two, three, six, nine, eighteen, twenty-seven, and fifty-four itself. The factors they have in common are one, two, three, and six. Although we have all the factors they have in common, we need the GREATEST factor which is six. Therefore, six is the GCF.

Most people have heard of the term "greatest common factor," or "GCF" in math. But not everyone will know exactly what it means or how to find the GCF of two or more numbers. That's why today I will be explaining both of these things in my own words.

The GCF is exactly how it sounds - the greatest factor that both (or all) of the numbers have in common. One method that you can use to find the GCF or two or more numbers is called the "listing method". This method is where you list all the factors of both (or all) numbers, then circle all the factors that they have in common. The greatest number out of all the common factors you circled is the GCF. To illustrate this, let's find the GCF of 36 and 48 using the listing method. First, list all the factors of 36 and 48. For 36, that would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 36; for 48, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, and 48. Next, you would circle 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12, the common factors of 36 and 48. Now you can see that 12 is the greatest out of all the common factors, so the GCF of 36 and 48 is 12.

I learned many new things during this lesson as well, such as two methods to find the GCF of two numbers faster that I didn't know before. I hope this was helpful!

have you heard of GCF well if you hadent let me explain GCF means greatest common factor. GCF or greatest common factor. Is a factor in a number that is the biggest out of all of them for example 60 the factors of 60 are 1 2 3 4 5 6 10 12 15 20 30 and last but not least 60 itself. out of all those numbers the biggest number factor is 60. meaning in conclusion 60 is the GCF of 60.

So the greatest common factor is 2 because it is the highest factor that is in both numbers you. That is what a GCF is in my prospective.

First off, you might be wondering what "GCF" even stands for. It means "Greatest Common Factor," entailing that it is the common factor of 2 numbers that is the largest. The first step to doing this is to find all the factors of both numbers, preferrably by writing them down on a sheet of paper. Then, you circle all the common factors - the factors they have in common - and see which one is the greatest. That's the GCF! Now, let's put those steps into action. As an example, you might want to find the GCF of 36 and 48. The factors of 36 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 36; while the factors of 48 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24 and 48. You can see that they share the factors 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12, with the last number being the greatest. So, 12 would be the GCF of 36 and 48!

So many wonderful things were learned in my most recent math lesson, and this was one of them! Fun tactics and more were also taught, which was interesting as I have never learned those before. So, lets use the example of finding the GCF of 24 and 36. One way to find the GCF is to use the "listing method" which requires you to find all the factors of both the numbers and then find the biggest one that they have in common. Going back to the example, the factors of the numbers are:

36: {1,2,3,4,6,9,12,18,36}
Now we find all the common factors, which in this case, would be
1,2,3,4,6, and 12.
Since 12 is the biggest one of them all, it is the GCF.

Now you know one way to find the GCF of two numbers!

The GCF(Greatest Common Factor) is 2 because it is the highest factor from my perspective. That is GCF(Greatest Common Factor) in my opinion

If you have ever been doing math and get a question where you have to find the GCF this will help you understand what to do!

GCF stands for Greatest Common Factor. When you have two numbers the GCF is the biggest factor that you can divide each number by evenly. For example let use 18 and 24. 18 divided by 6 is 3 and 24 divided by 6 is 4. Six is the greatest common factor of 18 and 24. I hope this helps you in your math journey!

GCF stands for Greatest common multiple what it means is that if there are two numbers and you are trying to find the GCF you have to find all the numbers factors and find the GCF for example if you are trying to find the GCF of 12 and 26 the factors of 12 are 1,2,3,4,6,12 and the factors of 26 are 1,2,13,26 so the greatest common factor is 2 so yeah

There’s several methods to finding the GCF but I find the “listing method” most simple/easy. How to do it is basically listing like it’s called. So let’s have an example. We have 2 numbers, 44 and 36 So first what you want to do is firstly, list all the factors for each numbers, example.

36 {1,2,3,4,6,12,17,36}
44{1,2,4,11,22,44}

Now what you want to do is circle/highlight/colour the factors that are the same, in this example it would be 1,2,4. Now the highest number would be the GCF and the highest number in what I listed is 4 so 4 would be the GCF.

Do you want to know what GCF means and what it stands for? Well GCF stands for Greatest Common factor. A GCF is when you list down all the factors for a number. Let's use the number 36. We multiply numbers till we get all the of the ways to get 36. Once we have done that, we list then down from lowest to highest. Foe 36 its would be 1, 2, 3, 4 , 6, 9, 12, 18, and 36. Now let's do the same for a different number, like 48. All the factors for 48 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8. 12, 16, 24, and 48. Now we circle the numbers that are the same in both 36 and 48. After we do that, the highest number that is the same and circled at the same time is the GCF. Hopefully you have an idea of what GCF stand for and what it means. Goodbye

What is a GCF? Well, a GCF (Greatest Common Factor) is the largest factor that a set of numbers all have.
There are two ways to find a GCF. I'm going to show the first way because the second way is hard to show with text. So, for example to find the GCF of the numbers 24 and 26 you first list out the factors of the numbers.

24: 1x24, 2x12, 3x8, 4x6 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24
36: 1x36, 2x18, 3x12, 4x9, 6x6 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 36

Then you can circle the factors that are the same. (I used brackets here.)

24: (1), (2), (3), (4), (6), 8, (12), 24
36: (1), (2), (3), (4), (6), 9, (12), 18, 36

All you have to do now is check which number circled is the greatest. That will be your GCF. In this case the GCF for 24 and 36 is 12!

So, what exactly is a 'GCF?' well, GCF is short for greatest common factor. It's a term used in math to identify the two largest common factors in two numbers. Still confusing? Let me give you an example.

If a question asks you to list the GCF of 36 & 48 you can do a simple listing method. This is exactly what you think it is. Just list all the factors of 36 & 48 like so:
36 -- 1,2,3,4,6,9,12,18,36
48 -- 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,16,34,48
now let's check to see which factors they have in common. They both have 1,2,3,4,6,12. Since there are no common factors in the two numbers past 12, that makes it the GCF of 36 & 48.

It takes a while to get used to finding the GCF, so the more you practice, the better you'll get!

what is a GCF? A GCF is the greatest common factor of 2 or more numbers. You can find it with the ladder method. You write down the numbers you want to know the GCF of then you write a factor that can go into both numbers. Next divide the factor that you have with the both the other numbers then find another factor for the numbers that you just got do it till you cant find a factor for both of them. Then multiply the factors that you have and the answer is the GCF. And that's 1 method of getting the GCF.

GCF is a math acronym for Greatest Common Factor. A GCF is a common factor of 2 numbers that is greatest. It may seem difficult to understand how to find a GCF at first , So i'll reflect on a few tricks I learned in class for finding them.

The first trick I shall reflect upon is the Listing method. Listing method is much more efficient for smaller numbers and is quite easy, so here's how

64: 1,2,4,8,16,32,64.
48: 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,16,24,48.

Now what you would do is circle the common factors between them, and whichever one is biggest is the GCF.

Another trick is Continuous Division. This way is more challenging but is easier if you're looking for the GCF of a large number like 999 and 998. This is because if you listed all the factors it would take way too long. Anyways here's how to do it; you divide 64 & 48 with a common factor, like 4. This will give us 12 and 16. You do this again with 4 because its a common factor. you keep doing this till you cant divide anymore, and you should be left with 3 and 4. The number you divided by for both times was 4, so you multiply them and the answer should be 16. This is the GCF and you can check yourself

Learning about GCFs was really helpful because although I already knew how to calculate it, learning this made it easier to calculate larger numbers.

GCF also known as Greatest Common Factor. GCF is just a mathematical term, it means greatest common factor like I said at the beginning. One way of getting a GCF is to use the listing method. You're probably wondering what is that. Don't worry, I will explain to you on how you can use the listing method. The listing method is basically a line with numbers. You want to list the factors in a straight line. Now do the same thing with the other number. Once you are done, you want to find the same factors from each number and from that you will identify the largest number. Congratulations! You have successfully found the GCF. Here's some examples.
76 1, 2, 4, 19, 38, 76
64 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64

44 1, 2, 4, 11, 22, 44
36 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, 36

If you're wondering, whats a GCF? GCF is the short term of Greatest Common Factor of multiple numbers, you can use the tree method or the ladder method. The tree method is more for beginners. First, you write the main numbers that were given in the question. Start by creating a circle and leading down to 2 paths into smaller and smaller factors that are dividable by it, if it shows a prime number, you must stop at that circle, and continue dividing the numbers in the other circle until both are prime numbers. On the ladder method, you have to divide the factors until one of the numbers aren't dividable and stuck as a prime number. This is where you multiply the factors and you get the answer.

Today we learnt about gcf aka the greatest common factor and lcm which stands for lowest common multiple.

There are many methods to find the gcf and the lcm but one the one that I find most interesting is call the ladder method which I’ll be explaining now!

For my example I’m going to use the numbers 30 and 20 to find my gcf and lcm. First off you start by drawing a something that will look like a big L but long. Then you put 30 and 20 in the L. From here you look and see what you can divide 30 and 20 with which could possibly be 10! Then you would write 10 beside the L! Draw another L and repeat the step first and second except fill the L with 3 and 2 which are prime numbers and since you divided 30 and 20 by 10. After just calculate! The gcf would be just 10 (no equation needed for this example) and the lcm would be 5x3x2 which equals 30!!
(I hope I got this right……)

Fun fact: did you know that for finding the gcf and the lcm with bigger numbers using the ladder method is faster?

Greatest Common Factor, also known as GCF is just what as it's name sounds. The GCF of two or more numbers can be defined as the greatest number among all the same factors of the given numbers.
Here's an example:
An example is 5 and 10
The factors of 10 is 1,2,5, and 10
The factors of 5 is1 and 5
They both have common factors of 1 and 5. So5 is the highest common factor so 5 is the GCF of 5 and 10.

Numbers are a big thing in math, and I will be sharing with you a concept. That is GCF.

GCF is known as the greatest common factor. Basically, it is a factor that 2 or more numbers have in common, and is the greatest one. For example, 10 and 12. Lets list out their factors. 1, 2, 5, 10. 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12. 2 is the greatest factor that 10 and 12 have in common, so that's the GCF.

I can understand the GCF
GCF what is the GCF the G is for great the C is for common and the F is for factor. The GCF can help me to find the great common factor between 2 numbers for example 5 10 the GCF is 50 because the multiplies of 5 are 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 and of 10 are 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100 and we are looking for the great common factor so on the multiples of both numbers the 20 30 40 50 repeats so the bigger number is 50.
