Earth Bites - Organic kale hummus/salsa

Today, you prepared the gardens for the Spring with your Earth Bites instructors. In addition to this, you made a healthy snack out of spinach, kale, garlic, lemons, and chick peas. You are learning about healthy living, eating, and how to follow simple recipes to make delicious snacks! If you haven't brought in your forms/money for Zumba/Tennis, please do so tomorrow.

Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against bullying after a male student was harassed by wearing a pink shirt. Why do we celebrate Pink Shirt Day? We celebrate this day wearing a pink shirt (or a close shade like red) to symbolize a stand against bullying. Pink Shirt Day to me means to be kind to everyone whether it be a boy choosing to wear pink or a girl deciding to play sports, we should never judge anyone by who they want to be, what they choose or what they wear. Remember to always be kind to one another and treat others how you want to be treated.

Something you may want to start with would be to check for not necessarily mistakes, but things you could change to make your paragraph flow smoother. Make sure to add transition words between your ideas!

Colours, there are so many colours around us and we all have some colours we love and hate. But, based on the boy's interest, barely any boys like the colour pink. When someone's different and special, maybe pink is the colour he likes, and everyone just started to stand against him. Pink Shirt Day is a day that reminds me of the acts of kindness. Everyone have the right to choose what they want to be, do, or like. We can't push our thinking on top of theirs. You shouldn't judge anyone by how they look or what they like, that's just their personal interest! That's my definition and understanding of Pink Shirt Day, so if you have a different opinion, that's totally okay, because every single one of us is unique and awesome in their own way.

Today's Pink Shirt day. Not because it was John A. McDonald's favourite colour (I don't know if it is...), but the fact that we have devoted a day to wear pink (or a similar colour) means something. We are taking a stand against bullying. This "tradition" started in the year 2007 when a boy was harassed and threatened for just wearing pink. This day and the colour now symbolizes anti bullying. To me, this day tells me to be kind to others, and it's also so powerful when you walk outside, and so many people on the street are wearing pink, faces beaming. It's so important to spread this message, and try our best to minimize the amount of bullying at schools. This day also reminds me of the golden rule: Do unto others as you would like to have others do unto you.

Ehh pink is so gross! I'm not wearing pink on pink day, it's for girls! Whoa! Before you say that why do you think pink is only for girls? Well because pink is a girly colour and boys aren't girls. Well little kid pink can be worn by anyone! That is why we celebrate pink day. Pink day is a time when people all around the world acknowledge the fact that pink can be worn by anyone. Pink day is also a way to show that you don't judge people on what they like to wear, play or eat because everyone is just being themselves. You might even make a new friend on your courageous journey on being kind to people. Just remember that pink day should be everyday.

Today is actually the first time I celebrated pink day because in China we don't celebrate pink day in China so this is quite a bit of surprise for me. I had no idea why they celebrate pink day so pink day didn't have a meaning to me until now. Today I feel like everyone is helping others and being kind. So the meaning of pink day to me is helping each other. I feel like it is and very awesome day and I hope it will pass on to next generation. A day when everyone is so kind.

Pink shirt days means to SOAR and also to respect how others look. Physical characteristics, different, unique, etc. Pink is not only a girl color. Anyone can wear pink. Even boys. Girls can also wear what we call "boy colors" which is not true. Those are all just stereotypes.

So what exactly is Pink Day you might ask? Well, it's a day to stand up against bullying that we have been celebrating since 2007. It all started when a boy was being harassed because he was wearing a pink shirt and pink was "only for girls". Two boys decided that this wasn't right and gave pink shirts to people in the school. This was the first ever Pink Day. This was an amazing start for the movement against bullying which was yet to come. I think that Pink Day is about breaking stereotypes, being kind, and accepting others for who they are. We are all different and that's okay. We all like different things. Not all girls like pink and not all boys like blue. These are just stereotypes set by our society. We shouldn't make fun of someone for liking something. All in all, I think that if this generation learns to be kind and accepting we have a great future to come!

NOTE: This is rushed and not edited so it probably has a lot of mistakes.

@ K Duby - I think the bullies did learn their lesson. With 50 people against them I think that they didn't think they had a chance. I think that the start of Pink Day taught them an important lesson on acceptance.

I admire the two guys who bought 50 pink shirts to show support of the bullied students. We need people like them very much. They can help stop bullying and show the world that there is kindness in human beings.

Bullying can be horrible. I have heard many stories that young people kill themselves because they cannot put up with being bullied. I can imagine how terrible it is.

I think all of us must make efforts to stop bullying and to being nice to one another.

I think pink day is about showing bullies that pink is not for only girls just because it's more of a girl color and pink day started in 2007 when a 9th grader wore a pink shirt (and I think he is still alive today). So after that happened 2 other people got pink shirts and gave or sold them away to show the bullies that pink is not for only girls and that's how pink day started.

I think pink day is an amazing day that represents diversity. I think pink day is surprising how 2 kids did all of this to help this one person. In Canada, we are diverse in many aspects so we must accept all people around us. Even if may not really like someone based on their outlooks, have a chat with them and they might be someone amazing on the inside that you might not even thought of. Overall, Pink Day is an amazing event that makes all of us unique and be proud of that uniqueness.

Stereotypes. A lot of people think that pink is for girls to wear and blue is for boys to wear. But no, your wrong.

In 2007 a boy decided to wear a pink shirt to school but then he got bullied because he was wearing pink. But then 2 good kids came and fought the bullies and they never bugged that bullied kid again.

So to me pink shirt day is a time to stop bullying and to be nice and kind to others. But it doesn't mean that you can bully others tomorrow.Also I think it's about accepting others differences and uniqueness.

Pink day is a pretty gosh darn important day for schools across the globe to celebrate. It all started in 2007 with a grade 9 boy who wore a pink shirt to school. He was bullied because he wore a color that at the time was very girly to a lot of people. So a few students saw this happening to this boy, so they got some pink shirts and gave them out to the other students. Since the students wore the shirts, the bullies backed off. To be honest, I don't really like pink day. I know that a lot of people see it as a day to help your friend out or to stop the bullying. But I see it as a day for people to make a big deal out of something that can't really be erased from this earth, and a big pushover for the bullies. I don't support the bullying in anyway, but if we are telling bullies to back off, then wouldn't we become bullies to them? Like I do think it's a good idea to help people that are being bullied and trying to decrees the amount of bullying is okay but trying to stop something that can't be stopped is kinda worthless.
I know a lot of you might think that I have no reason to not like this day, but keep in mind, it's my opinion.

Pink day never meant that much to me, as I’ve never really been bullied, but I think that pink day reminds us that we need to be nice to everyone. I also think that pink day is about breaking free from stereotypes, boys can wear pink, girls can have short hair, and not ALL asians have strict parents, just most… Pink day reminds us to be kind, and be ourselves, challenge stereotypes, and stand up to bullies.

Did you know that Pink Shirt Day began in 2007? No? Well, now you know. Pink Shirt Day began at a school in Nova Scotia where a boy wore pink to school. A group of bullies bullied him for wearing pink. Then, this awesome group of people heard about this and got an amazing idea. This idea was that they would wear pink to school tomorrow and get everyone they know to join in too. They bought fifty pink shirts and the next day a lot of people showed up wearing pink at school. To me Pink Shirt Day means to kill everyone with kindness. It means that we shouldn’t judge people for what they do, like, or wear. In other words, no prejudice. In conclusion, we should always support and respect others and their ideas. Then we can live in a peaceful and better world.

It is pink day today,and so almost everyone was wearing a pink clothing for today, but do you know what is pink day? Pink day is that before there was a boy that wearing a pink t-shirt to school and when his classmates saw it , they were being so rude to him cause they thought that only girls like pink how come a boy like it. I really disagree about it cause why can't a boy wear it, this actually hurt people feeling when that person said that. So for me, pink day mean to me is to tell us to stop bullying someone and always remembered this event and remind us we should care about others when you know you are saying something that hurt people heart. Maybe you are not the one who do that,but if you see someone that bullied someone ,remembered to remind them,and don’t let them to do that again. Always remember,be nice to your friends.

But, do you know the story, of how Pink Day came to be? Well. Settle down kids, don't be rowdy. I'm going to tell you the story of Pink Day. It all started in 2007, at a location named Canada. Hey! We all live in Canada too! Off topic. Anyways, a student was wearing pink to school. What's so wrong about that, you ask? This kid was a boy. People thought that pink was a girly colour, and that a boy that wore pink wasn't normal at all. Of course, I don't exactly know what was going on inside the head of the bullies, but I could infer that it had something to do with that. The boy was soon harassed and bullied. Soon enough, there were other boys that saw the bullies doing what they were doing. To not be a bystander and just watch this happen, they gave out pink shirts, and soon everyone was spreading awareness. This story tells us that no matter the gender, we could do whatever we want. Girls can wear blue, if they want too. In fact, blue is my favourite colour! This day is celebrated annually all around the world, and it's very important nowadays. You know why? There;s this thing called social media and stereotypes. In the past, none of us thought that way. But because someone created nonsense saying pink is a girly colour, this had all started happening. I really don't understand why there are stereotypes. Can't we just live the way we want to? My rant is going to be very long if I continue. So it's time to stop! But I really hope more people spread awareness all around the world, because it is important.

Pink Day, the day where everyone stands up for bullying. It all started in 2007 when a grade 9 boy got bullied for wearing pink. It's cruel to do that because it's a color and it doesn't affect your personality whatsoever. Kids in the boys school stood up for him and wore pink to show those bullies that they're better then the bullies think they are. It has now spread around the world for 11 years and is still going on. On this day we all wear pink to stand up to the bullies. But you never know, a bully might be wearing pink to show that he/she is not one but truly they are. Anyone can wear any color they want and you should not criticize them. Stopping all this bullying will make a huge impact in making the world a way more peaceful place. Stand up for yourself and don't just sit there taking all the pain.

Honestly, I never thought that pink day would be that important, well at least to me. After knowing about the history of pink day and how it began I think more of it. Pink day is the day where you are being reminded to be kind to everyone, spread kindness, don't judge people by how they look, don’t bully people, etc. We can’t really stop bullying, but we can at least help others who are being bullied and that can help stop the bullys. Just like the story of how pink day started. I really don’t get why people like to bully others, like what’s the benefit? So I want bullying to stop and if your being bullied make sure to stand up for yourself. If you see someone being bullied and can’t stand up for themselves make sure to not just watch that person, but to help.

Pink Day.. by far the best holiday to be celebrated by anyone (at least in my opinion). But why do we celebrate Pink Day? Well I celebrate Pink Day because I think it's wrong that people discriminate against others just because of their race, physical differences, religion, sexuality, etc. So every time Pink Day comes around, I wear a pink shirt, to stand up against the bullies.

To me, acceptance means giving everyone a chance. Not just first chances- second, third, even fourth chances. As many as they need. People make mistakes, and for some people friendships and social things are difficult.
I also think acceptance means beliving in others- trusting in friends and family. If they are not particullarily reliable, help them when making plans. Make sure it is something both can achive.
This is what acceptance means to me.

Pink day, yeah. A time to celebrate nothing actually. Just to say, "back off haters/bullies" Great day. I wish there were bullies in this school to rub it in their faces. But alas, there aren't. The day all started when some kid got bullied by a bully because he wore a pink shirt. His friends got everyone in the school to wear pink and the bullies got bullied and embarrassed. So now we have to wear pink shirts. Seriously, though? It's not like anybody's going to bully you for wearing pink right before pink day. Waste of time and money from buying a pink shirt
