Today, you participated in another science challenge! All of you were given the challenge to create an electromagnet that could pick up a paper clip. Many of you tried different things before you were able to finally create one. Tonight, you don't have any Science homework, but I want you to think about what the strength of your magnet would be like if you wrapped your nail in 4 coils of wire and if you wrapped it in 40 coils. What do you think the difference would be? Feel free to comment on this in the PAR. DON'T FORGET IT IS PINK DAY TOMORROW!!

PARENTS - STUDENT LED CONFERENCES:

Student led conferences will be held on March 7th and 8th. On both of these days, your child will be dismissed at 2pm.
This is an opportunity for your child to share their work at school with you. Students will take you through their FreshGrade portfolios to show you some highlights and specific assessments.
If you are unable to make it on either of those days, your child may also take you through their digital portfolios from home. A checklist will be sent home so your child can do this with you. Any specific questions can be addressed by email or you can set up a an alternative time to meet with me.
Please be aware there will be multiple parents and students in the classroom at the same time and conferences will be 15 minutes each.

1.) LA:

Complete your first draft of your gift of words, thinking and learning questions, and powerful response based on the criteria handouts.

2.) MATH:

Complete 6.4 #1-9
Quiz on Friday.

3.) ALPHABET PHOTOGRAPHY:

Complete all 26 photos for each letter of the alphabet. Click here for the criteria.
You need these to work on your collage in class tomorrow.

4.) POST A RESPONSE: (HOLIDAY)

You have a holiday today because I want to make sure you complete the homework.

You should be finished your GOW and T&L questions. You don't necessarily need your book/booklet.

You can work off the criteria handout to complete your powerful response. You can add from your stickies and supporting sentences from your book after your first feedback session. No problem!

Need further understanding in these parts of the criteria.

1.) Characters reactions under "Provides evidence or a big idea."

2.) Your reactions under "Provides your opinion about a big idea and what you have learned."

3.) Your change in thinking under "Provides your opinion about a big idea and what you have learned."

4.) What I am supposed to write under "Demonstrates deeper thinking" and "Communicates effectively"

I need an reply as soon as possible.

1.) Provide examples from the story that supports your big idea.
2.) Explain the lesson you learned from the story.
3.) What or who changed/pushed your thinking?
4.) You don't have to really write anything under sections 4 and 5. These are all things that will be incorporated into your writing.

Guess what? I took 1 hr 30 mins to complete my ABC photos. And they're really crappy and artificial because otherwise it would've taken 3 hrs or more. Mr.Hong lied.

It took me way longer than 15 minutes Mr Hong. I don’t appreciate the false determination you gave me :( mine took like 4 or 5 times the amount you told us. Let’s just say, I had to dig through my closet :) and put the clothes back again. I guess I found more for me to wear now :D

For the powerful response, if we are using the template then do we have to write the paragraphs in paragraph form for each of the sections?
Will we get time to do this for a bit tomorrow?
