Today, we continued learning about essay writing. Students reviewed essay structure and the criteria for a 5-paragraph essay. We brainstormed essay topics, did some outline brainstorming, and will get started on our introductory paragraphs tomorrow once everyone has had their essay topic approved. In math, we had a lesson on adding/subtracting decimals with various place values. In the afternoon, we did a little French and ended the day with Music.

How do you write an introduction in a 5 paragraph essay? Well, I'll explain it to you step by step! Firstly let’s get to know the first part. In a 5 paragraph essay concludes an introduction, body paragraph 1, 2, 3 and a conclusion to wrap up what you said. Mainly, I’ll be explaining how to write intro un a 5 paragraph essay. The introduction is the first thing you want your audiences to see, so summarizing your main point in that sentence as for your introduction. An introduction provides background information that you know. The main purpose of it is to inform your audience about your essay/topic, as well as including your opinion. When presenting your introduction, some things you might want to look out for are not repeating the same sentences over and over again, copy and pasting your information and repeatedly changing your main topic in the middle of your sentences. Mainly, you want to keep your introduction short and simple, not too simple though. That's not even all there is to an essay introduction. There are three main partings when writing your intro. The hook, background knowledge and the thesis.

Hook. The hook is making an open statement, which can grab the attention of the reader. Without this, your essay would be plain and boring, which probably not many people would like! By using the hook, it’s a good reminder to include a question or even a quote in it. An example for a hook could be “ Why is it important to know how to…” or “ There is a shocking fact about...”. Those can engage the readers and make them think “what happens next?” And they’d want to keep continue reading it.

Background knowledge. A background knowledge is information that allows your reader to understand your essay. A BK is often seen after when a hook is made. When you write your background knowledge, you want to contain details about what you already know, and focus on the important things that YOU think should be added into. You don’t want to keep your background knowledge 8 pages long, you want to keep it simple.

Thesis. The thesis in an expression of your argument. It can give examples and support your main ideas. The thesis should discuss the important statements. A sentence that can be used throughout it could be “lastly, throughout all my research, I’ve coming down to the understandings of..”

These are the first mainly 3 points in an introduction essay. You want to make it readable, grabbing the readers attention and informing them.

I always thought essays were long, boring, and just a pain to write. But, I realized, with the right structure, they can be that much easier. Introductions are always the first component in an essay, so for now, let's stick to the intro. We'll be diving into the first paragraph in an essay, and it's three parts; the hook, background, and thesis.
If you want your reader to want to read more on the topic, you need a good hook. The hook is what tells the reader what the essay is about. This way, they can see from the very beginning if the topic interests them. The key thing about the hook is that it needs to be engaging in order for someone to want to read your essay. Essentially, it should not be irrelevant to the topic. For example, if I simply started with, "I think food would be a cool topic to write on," you would have no idea what I was talking about. Do you see how important it is to have a good hook? However, another important part of an intro is the "background."
Quite like the hook, the background tells the reader about the topic. The difference is that it's more specific, and it talks about the background knowledge that the writer has, rather than saying the topic itself. The point of the background is to shed some light so the reader can better understand the essay when they read it. Lastly, we have the thesis.
Once, again, the thesis tells the reader a little bit about the topic. This time, on the other hand, it tells them about what points of the topic the essay will be about. The purpose of the thesis is for the reader to understand the essay in a better way.
To summarize, the three components of an introductory paragraph in an essay are the hook, background, and thesis. Every part of it is crucial.

When creating an essay, you need to have at least 5 paragraphs. The introduction paragraph, the 3 body paragraphs, and the conclusion paragraph. To make the introduction paragraph, you have to start by writing the hook sentence about the topic. The hook is to draw the readers in and make them want to read your essay more. For example, if you’re writing an essay on axolotls, your hook could be: "axolotls, an animal with many mysteries." This is a great hook because it leaves the readers wanting to know the mysteries. The next part to the introduction paragraph is the background information about the topic. For example, it could be: "An axolotl can detach its tail so it can escape from predators.” and “They are carnivores, and they’re currently endangered.” The last part of the introduction paragraph is the thesis statement. Although introductory paragraphs may seem tedious, annoying, and negligible, it is crucial to incorporate it into your essay because it is what is first presented to the reader; it is the bait for them, the first impression of your writing piece. How do we write an essay with 5 paragraphs? In order to write an essay with 5 paragraphs you must include details about what you’re writing. The step of writing an essay with 5 paragraphs starts with a intro at the part 1/5 of the paragraph then you have to write 2-3 or 4 details of what you’re writing and you would end it with a conclusion. If I want to write something about space the intro would be like this: Space is an endless dark void with stars and you could discover many planets, galaxies and blackholes.

Details that would support the idea of writing would be 2-3 or 4 questions that push your thinking if you want to ask something about black holes (questions would be: How were they formed? , what is the largest blackhole we know today, and what was the first blackhole formed when the universe exploded?), galaxies (questions would be: How did the big bang create Galaxies? , how many objects does the Galaxy have? , and how much extra terrestrial life had we discovered?) , Solar systems (questions could possibly be: (How were the gas giant formed? , How old is the Sun? , do we have habitable life in our solar system? , and when will our solar system die?)

In all of these supporting detail paragraphs you must end it with a mini conclusion. For the 5th paragraph of writing, you have to conclude and share your thoughts about what you’re writing about. For my thought on space, I would say “I think space is interesting because you could explore extra terrestrial life with big telescopes, and you could find ways to prevent overpopulation if you discover new planets”. I would conclude it with “I hope you now know about space and next time I will give you more information”.

Remember your paragraphs should have engaging hooks which could attract (a word we are using for our magnet test) people’s attention. I hope you all know how to write an essay.

A 5 paragraph essay always starts with an introductory paragraph, it's also one of the most important parts of an essay. A good essay always has a good structure, and the introductory paragraph is the first part of that structure. The introductory paragraph consists of 3 parts, the hook, basic information and the thesis statement. The first part of the introduction is the hook so that the reader wants to read more of your essay. The hook has to be interesting and engaging, there are also many different forms of hooks. A hook can be a question, a fact, a famous quote or a metaphor. Don't spoil the essay in the hook though, just simply tell the reader what you are going to write about. The second thing you will have to include in your introductory paragraph is some background information about the topic you're writing about for your essay. The background information is kind of like the hook but it tells the reader a bit of what the essay is going to be about. Let's say you're writing about global warming, what do you know about it? Include what you know about the topic you're writing about, your background knowledge about the topic. Introduce the topic to the writer so they know what the topic is. Lastly, at the end of your introductory paragraph, you have to include a thesis statement. The thesis statement tells the reader what to expect in your essay, the 3 points you're writing about in your body paragraphs. A good thesis is clear and doesn't use more words than necessary, and includes information that the reader probably does not know. Your thesis should include a few parts or aspects, but the points should lead up to one main topic, the topic of your essay. But, remember that the 3 points in your thesis must be backed up and explained by the rest of your essay. If you would like to know how to write an introduction paragraph for an essay if so your in luck because i'm gonna be teaching you just that. In an introduction paragraph there are 3 steps the hook, background knowledge, and the thesis if you add these things together then you will have a properly structured introduction paragraph. First let's talk about the hook, the hook is very important, the hook is pretty much a sentence or 2 to get your readers hooked so they will want to read your essay in the hook make sure to make the sentence amusing or funny or interesting. Writing an essay contains 5 paragraphs, but which one do you start with? The introductory paragraph, a paragraph that has 3 main ideas that help it, well introduce your essay topic. Essays. They look long and time taking but trust me when you learn you'll be addicted to writing essay i promise. To start off and increse your BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE, Essays have 5 paragraphs. Each paragraph you will have a topic sentence, Try to make your topic sentences grab the readers attention and enjoy reading it. Firstly, use the 6 writing traits ideas, orginization, voice, word choices and sentence fluency. Secondly, you have to have a thesis, a thesis statement is typically one sentence that appears in the first paragraph of an essay that captures the essay's purpose. To be able to do that you can use quotations, questions, statistics / facts. Next, you have the background information. For this section of the intro paragraph it’s basically tell your reader a little information about your topic. So, make sure you give main points to the reader and tell them why the topic is important. Third, we have the thesis. The thesis is basically the backbone of your whole essay. Make sure you are being clear, putting it at the end of your introduction, and making sure that your thesis is original. So, basically if you catch their attention, tell them important facts, and summarize, your paragraph is done and ready to go.
