FANCY DANCE PERFORMANCE

Today, students made progress on their plant identification projects. They divided their roles and responsibilities up within their groups and started using the criteria to complete their projects. It will be handed in next Friday. Later in the afternoon, students performed their 'FANCY DANCE' to the entire school and the visiting parents. It was amazing to see what one week of following learning intentions and success criteria was able to achieve! On Tuesday, students will complete a self-assessment of their dance abilities.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES:

Monday, September 23rd, 2019 is a Pro-D day. Students do not attend school.
If you have not already done so, go back to the Gmail instructions from September 16th and complete this task. You must bring your login info to school on Tuesday.

2.) ART: ALL ABOUT ME COLLAGE

If you haven't already, bring any photos, magazines, items to school on Tuesday to work on your collage. Cut out magazine/newspaper clippings at home and bring them in if needed.
This will be due next Friday.

3.) READING: Read for 30 minutes every day.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

On Tuesday, we will begin uploading artifacts of your learning to FreshGrade.
Write a paragraph (introduction, supporting sentences, and conclusion) on what you think a learning reflection should look like.
You will be reflecting on your learning for all learning activities this year. It is important to include various things in order to make your reflections clear and meaningful.
Your paragraph should include criteria (3-5 points) you think are important when writing learning reflections.
Click here for some examples of a beginning, applying, and extending learning reflections.
Give one student descriptive feedback based on their paragraph structure and the givens (spelling, grammar, sentence structure, capitals, etc)
Edit/revise your original post based on the feedback you receive and/or a self-assessment.

When we do work, there is no doubt we will always make mistakes. So that's why reflecting on your work and learning capabilities is very important!
Learning reflections should always reflect on your strengths, weakness, and your thoughts. It is important to include these details because you can look back at your previous mistakes, and find out how to improve them. Whether you got an extending, or a beginning, writing a learning reflection helps you understand your strong points and weak ones, which of course, makes you improve!

@ Megan - I like seeing you taking ownership of your learning! You went home and checked the website right away.

SUGGESTION:

How does your final evaluation (beginning, developing, applying, and extending) tell you how to improve? I think that the descriptive feedback you get related to the learning intentions and success criteria may give you more information then your final evaluation. What do you think? See if you can include a few of the Big 6 principles in your paragraph and how they help you learn.

Making mistakes is what makes us human. We have all made mistakes before and the best way to learn from them, is to reflect. Reflecting helps you understand what your strengths are and what your weaknesses are. It doesn't matter whether you got a beginning before and made several mistakes, all that matters is that you learned from it and improved. When you reflect on your learning and start getting better you will understand everything better and own it! You will understand better and ask more questions to extend your knowledge! You can ask for feedback from friends too as you reflect. You can ask questions like " How can I do better?" and " Did I put all my effort into it?" All of these things can really help your learning! Everybody makes mistakes sometimes, but how can we learn?
By reflecting!
Reflecting is important because it tells you what your weakness are. Then you can improve by focusing more on those subjects. What should reflecting look like? I think reflecting should be meaningful and detailed. It should show what your weaknesses and strengths are, and how you can improve.
In conclusion reflecting is a great way to improve, by telling you what to need to focus on.

Today I will talk about why reflecting is good. I think its good to reflect because you can go over it and say what you can do better next on it you can also go over and look for more descriptive words and better grammar. Also you can look over your thing that you are reflecting on and tell the parts you need to practise. This is why reflecting is important.

This child is very young and hasn't yet learned the necessary skills needed to function in society. if no one gives this child feedback he will most likely stay this way until death. Crying, sleeping excessively, throwing things, committing multiple felonies, punching people in the gut, calling people peepeepoopoo, speaking very little of any language, and having very bad grammar and spelling. Reflections are essentially just feedback of yourself using what you have learned and gotten from other peoples feedback to help develop in the future to be a more successful member of society.

People make mistakes everyday, but we can learn from those mistakes by reflecting! By reflecting you can see what you can do better on weather it's work, school or homework, do can always reflect on your work.

When you think about reflecting you might think "Oh. Reflecting is when you look back on something". That is correct. It is important to reflect on you work because (1) if it's school work, you can reflect on how you can do better to get a better grade. (2) If it's work, then you can reflect on how you could have done something more. Then for your next assignment you can know what to do better. Even if it's stapling. That is why I think that reflecting is important for basically everything.

A reflection on work should be a picture of the work a sentence about the work and what you liked about doing it and what you didn't like about. Write about what you need to improve on and what you think you did best on. The conclusion to this is that making reflections are important for your learning.

We all make mistakes sometimes and we all can learn from our mistakes by reflecting.

Reflecting is when we give our self feedback. You can reflect on anything like sleeping, eating, writing and many more! The next time you self reflect you can think of ways to make it better. For example if your writing a writing assessment and get a spelling error, you can correct the word by sounding it out, ask someone or look it up in a dictionary.

Self reflection is a part of day to day learning to improve yourself.

Well, reflecting is like looking back on your work or giving yourself feedback. And feedback is one of the BIG 6 learning principles.Let`s say a child is writing the letter S back wards. If no one gives the child feedback on how to improve or he does not ask any questions, he might still do it until he is dead. This is one reason why giving feedback and asking questions to others is really important. Now back to reflecting. Reflecting is a way to improve.For an example, you are doing a test. If you have time, take a look back at your work and try to make it better like making it sound more interesting or see if you got anything wrong.Now let`s say you got your test back and you got beginning, look at what you did wrong and ask your teacher if you could do the test again and see if can get a better score. AND even if you got extending, there is always a way to make your score better.:D

How do you get extending on a learning reflection? Well, here is the answer.First you need to put in effort, if you don't then everything you do would be beginning. Second you need to follow criteria. In this case it's just a bunch on questions. here's the questions: Did you reach the learning intention? What did you learn? What are your strengths? What are you stretches? What did you improve on? And finally, What will you do next time? Over all, if you do those two things then there's a 99% chance you will get extending.

Mistakes are a big part of life. Everyone has made mistakes. Most people see them as a negative thing, but that's not always true. Mistakes are actually a great way to learn. Chances are, if you make a mistake, you won't repeat it again. That's because you learned from it, learned what caused the mistake, and know how to stop it from happening again. That's what self-reflection.

Self-Reflection is when you think back on your mistakes and give yourself feedback so you don't repeat it. Feedback is a very important and helpful thing, and it's one of the "Big 6 Learning Principles". Self-Reflection is essential to better learning and becoming a better learner.

Do you think making a mistake is a bad thing? Well if you don't make mistakes then how would you learn? So when you make a mistake you would do a reflection to learn from it.

If you don't know what a reflecting is then here is what it means. When you reflect, you are looking back to your work or you would give feedback. For example, you had a math test and you got Applying, but you want to get extending. You would go over your test and see what you got wrong. When you see what you got wrong, you would practice it and ask your teacher if you can do the test again. And when you do, see if you got extending.

In conclusion, I think that everyone should reflect on all of their work to know what to work on.

Everybody makes mistakes and it is completely normal. If we all didn't make these mistakes then how would we learn? That is why mistakes aren't bad things, there actually good for you!

An example for how reflecting works is say if you didn't do to well on a test, there will always be more room to improve. A learning reflection is a really big part of our learning, to improve you can do plenty of things like getting feedback from your teacher or studying a little harder. A Self Regulation is always a good idea for becoming a better learner or just a better person.

@Adrian, I noticed that the in the beginning of the main paragraph there is this long run-on sentence. Instead of that, maybe you could put something shorter like "For example, let's say you didn't do well on a test." Otherwise, good job!

Have you ever made a mistake and felt embarrassed about it? If you have its fine, everybody makes mistakes. Its what you do after discovering your mistake.

Some things you can do to improve on work or any thing really is getting feedback from your friends, family and teachers. Using the information you've found from them can better your learning and have a better understanding of what needs work. If you feel as though you deserved a better mark or you feel confused on why you got a certain mark you can ask the teacher. If you're afraid to ask, don't be, teachers are hired to teach and help students.

In conclusion, reflecting on your work is a great life skill, it can not only better your learning but mold you into a better person.

Last year, when we made learning reflections, there was no specific criteria. The general rules that we had to follow was mentioning these points:
- did you reach the learning intention?
- what did you learn?
- what are your strengths?
- what are your stretches?
- what did you improve on?
- what will you do next time?

I believe that it is important to include these points. They can help you set goals and over time you can work towards them. They also point out the areas for improvement. So the next time you do something related to the activity you can do it better than before. One point that I might add to this criteria is that it should have your full honesty. Some people might bluff to make their reflection sound like they're really good at something. If you aren't, it's okay. Like I said earlier, you can always ask for help and do better next time.

In conclusion, when making reflections in real-life and in your writing, you should be true to who you are. Be honest. If it was hard for you, ask for help to so that you can improve in the future.

Everyone always makes mistakes, not one person has never made a mistake in their life, it's completely normal. Mistakes are how you reflect your work and improve even more, how? you may ask, well you could ask your friends, family or teachers to give you any feedback to make your work even better. For example par, you can give any student feed-back on their paragraph, like when they forget to capitalise a letter or when a student misspells a word, you have to let them know so that they can learn from their mistakes. Have you ever made a mistake? Because mistakes aren't that bad, they help you learn from it, by receiving feedback and REFLECTING on previous mistakes. That way, you'll learn and will likely not make the same mistake again. Reflecting is looking back at your work and asking yourself questions (did I reach the learning intention(s)? what did you learn? ect.). If you meet the self reflection criteria, then you'll probably get better the next time you do the same thing.

In conclusion, making mistakes only helps you learn better. Although you should avoid making mistakes, don't be embarrassed about it.

Reflecting on the things we do daily is very important for people, we can even ask for advice from people that want to help make your work better. Reflecting helps you to develop your skills instead of just carrying on doing things as you always do them. its about questioning, what you did and then deciding whether there's a better or more effective way of doing it next time.

You cant learn without making mistakes. You can’t learn from mistakes if you don’t take the time to reflect on them. A learning reflection is a great way to reflect on your project and see how you can make it better next time!

A learning reflection should include what you think you did well, what you can improve on,how and when did you use the big six and if you think you followed the learning intention. If so why or how. One more thing I think is important to reflect on is if you think you followed the given criteria. On that note think about if you think your evaluation was fair, then list the reason why you support or don’t support your given evaluation. Lastly, list the feedback you got and show examples of when you used that feedback to make your project better.

In conclusion, reflections are a great way to gain knowledge of how you can better own your learning!

If you truly want to learn there has to be at least one mistake if you want to learn. But how do you turn a mistake in to a learning lesson?
The answer is reflecting.

After you are done project or essay you should reflect on it. Reflecting shows you what you did wrong and how you should improve. If you do not reflect, your projects or essays in the future will be the same as the past. The same mistakes will be repeated and you will have learned nothing. Mistakes are a part of learning and you can not succeed in life without making any mistakes. That doesn't mean you should make mistakes left and right. The point is you should learn and improve using your mistakes.

Therefore, reflecting is very important when it comes to learning.

A crucial part of the big six is ownership. Ownership is the sixth principle and its the biggest one. Ownership is taking all the principals together and reflecting on what you've done.
To me, reflecting on your learning is important because once you've reflected, you know how to improve and how to do better next time. For instance, let's say we did a word work test. On my final, I got 10/16. In my learning reflection, I would talk about how maybe I could have studied harder or used a different method of studying. This is wah taking ownership means. It means that we should reflect on the good and bad things.
In conclusion, learning reflections are important to do because we can improve off of them.

Reflections are a way to help you improve so the next time you do something similar you will know what you need to improve and make it even better than last time. Reflections is something where you reflect on your mistakes and figure out how to fix it or improve on your work. A way to improve is to ask feedback from a friend, family member or a teach so you could improve so you wouldn't repeat that mistake over and over again. An example of a way to reflect on your work is word work. Pretend you got a 5/16, you want to improve so you reflect on what you did wrong and reflect your mistakes and try to fix it and do it right the next time. After that you've improved by reflecting on your mistakes and you have done better, so that's what reflecting is about fixing your past mistakes and figure out a way to improve next time.

When we do things we reflect on what we have done so that we can understand what we did right and what we do wrong.

When we reflect we should understand what we did wrong and right by getting feedback from other peers, parents and teachers. Feedback is a very important factor to the learning process because we get the best friend input from others. Another thing you should do is make sure you have a growth mind set because you don’t wanna be negative all the time and you also need to have a growth mindset to improve on this next time. One last thing is to keep ideas positive and not negative because negativity is never the answer to anything!

In conclusion be sure to get feedback and have a growth mindset while you reflect!
