FRENCH COOKING SHOWS

Today, we started the day off with our Algebra unit test. Students started presenting their 'FRENCH COOKING SHOWS' on the big screen. Students worked hard to learn the phrases taught in class and also new ones they researched. It was wonderful to hear students using the practical phrases they learned. It was very clear how much effort they put into their projects. Well done! We will see the remaining presentations tomorrow morning.

We continue to learn about the particle theory of matter.
In your own words, write a paragraph about what happens in the two scenarios.
1.) Mixing salt with 500 mL of water.
2.) Mixing salt with 200 mL of water.
LEARNING INTENTIONS: I can explain how salt dissolves in different amounts of water based on my knowledge of the particle theory of matter.
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
1.) Paragraph format.
2.) Include what you know about the particle theory of matter when you explain how much salt is dissolved in each scenario listed above. Make sure you mention the space in liquids and solids and the particles in each.

The particle theory of matter is how all matter is made up of many tiny particles that constantly move around. The amount of space between said particles dictate if the matter is a solid, liquid, or gas. With solids having the smallest spaces and gasses having the most. Today, in class, we did an experiment that involved dissolving salt in different water temperatures and amounts to observe the differences. I think that mixing the same amount of salt in 500ml of water would allow the salt to dissolve better than 200ml. Having more water means more spaces in between the water particles for the salt particles to dissolve into. In our observations during class, we noticed that the water is a lot cloudier when there is less water for the salt to dissolve in, meaning that some of it didn’t dissolve completely.

What is the particle theory of matter? The particle theory of matter states that all matter is made up of small particles which are constantly in motion, but these particles move differently depending on the temperatures. The three states of matter are; solid, liquid and gas. Today, we did experiments on how the salt dissolves in the water in different temperatures and sizes, as well as recording everything on paper. I think that for the 500ml of water, it would dissolve the salt faster because there’s more space in the jar/cup, which allows a larger number of salt to have contact with the solvent. However, mixing with 200ml would be slower since dissolving depends on solvent molecules colliding with the salt. In addition, the warmer the temperatures are, the faster and easier the solute will dissolve. In conclusion, the more solvent is added and the higher the temperatures are, the chances increase of solubility.

Everything is made up of particles, which means even if something is solid, liquid, or gas, they are made of particles. today, we did an experiment which we used water (room temp, hot, and cold) and mixed it with salt to see if the salt would dissolve in different temperature water. What i think is that if you mix 500ml of salt, it would dissolve faster and become more clear than if you mixed 200ml of water and salt, it would be harder to see if less water is mixed with salt, rather than more water mixed with salt.

Solid, liquid, and gas. These are the three types of matter, which are all made of particles. Today, I did an experiment on how faster or slower salt will dissolve in different temperature waters. But how about the amount of water? For example, there is a question that said "500ml of water mixed with salt, and 200ml of water mixed with salt. Which will dissolve faster?" For this question, I can make a hypothesis that the one that has 500ml of water will dissolve faster with salt, because it has abundant space for the salt particles to move compared to the other, and also the particles can swim freely with more space. In conclusion, salt is easier to dissolve with larger volumes of liquid.

You know when you're making pasta, and you add the salt to the boiling water, and it just disappears? What really happens is the space in the molecules of the water give room for the salt to go in. To demonstrate, in the scenario listed above, I think that the salt will dissolve better in 500 mL of water compared to 200 mL. As I said before, the salt goes in between the spaces of the molecules. Having more water means having more space for the salt to dissolve in. Hence it will dissolve better than 200 mL. In addition, I think that the amount of salt that will dissolve in 500 mL is around 175 grams of salt, because there's lots of space for the salt to go in. I would say a little less than half. However, the 200 mL will probably have around 80 mL. To summarize, if you've ever wondered why the salt disappears, now you know.

Matter is made up of particles that are always moving. Today, I learned that powder could dissolve faster or slower depending on the temperature of the liquid, how much liquid there is, and how hard you stir it. I think that if you mix salt with 500ml of water, It will dissolve faster because there will be more space. If you mix salt with 200 ml of water, it will dissolve slower because there is less space. Overall, salt usually dissolves faster when there's more liquid or when its warmer.

When you have more space, you would be more inclined to move around. Then if you had less space. It's the same thing with Salt and walter. The more water there is then there would be a larger area for the particles to move around. Move around and be more dissovled. A solid's particle's are tightly packed, when a liquid's particle is more loose. When there's more space there would be more place for the particles to move around and become a more homogenus solution. Becoming more dissolved. Having more space makes it so that there would be more space for the particles to move around.

Everything is made out of matter. Our body, the trees, the ocean, and even the air! Particles make up matter. There are 3 types of matter. Solid, liquid, and gas. Each matter has a different amount of space between particles. For example, solid has barely any space. Liqid has space between particles. Gas has a lot of space between particles. If there is 500ml of water, and you put salt in it, the salt will dissolve much faster than if you put salt in 200ml of water. This is because there are more space between particles that sugar can go into. It finds space to be in much faster. In conclusion, if there is more space between particles, it will dissolve faster.

Everything is made up of particles, your hand, you watch, and even the world itself. Matter is said to be made up of particles. Today in school, we did a experiment where we put salt in different temperatures of water. In colder water, the particles are closer apart making it harder for salt to dissolve. In hotter temperature water, the particles are loosened up and the particles are further apart, making it easier for the salt to dissolve. Mixing it always helps the salt dissolve. No matter if it’s a solid or how tightly packed the particles are, they are always moving. At the end of the day, we came up with a hypothesis. If the water temperature is hotter, then salt would easier dissolved into the water

One has 200 mL inside, and the other has 500 mL. because there is more water in one, that means that that container has more space for the salt particles to take up. The salt (sugar) particles can be in between water particles because unlike solids, in which the particles are so tightly packed together they form a definite shape, the particles are spaced apart and aren't always touching each other. There is always a bit of space between the particles, allowing particles of certain things to dissolve and mix at a level where you can no longer see them. I think that with 200 mL of water, about maybe... 70 grams. For 500 mL, well, I would say... about 175 grams. I think this because well... I... I searched and the first result to come up said about 35 grams of salt for 100 mL of room temperature water. So there. That's what happens to salt when it is dissolved. Now you won't spend long nights thinking about where the salt goes when put in water.

When you put salt in water, some of the particles of the salt go between the particles of the water, this homogenizes the salt and the water to make the salt seemingly dissolve into the water. Well, the question is that if the amount of water changes, will the process of homogenization change? Well, in my opinion, I don't the the process changes, however, the amount of salt that gets mixed in changes. This is because there are less particles in the smaller amount of water. So, the salt will need heat and movement to homogenize.

Whether it is a solid, a liquid, or a gas, they all have particles in it. Solids, have particles packed together to tight the particles can barely move. Liquids, have particles a bit more spaced out letting them move around more freely which also is why you can easily put your hand on finger into it. Gas, has very little particles that move around constantly which let's you go through it without a problem. These three states of matter can change whether you are trying to boil a liquid or freeze one. Today, my class conducted an experiement. If we have a cup filled with 500ml or water and another with 200ml of water. If we add the same amount of salt in each, which one would dissolve all the salt first? The 500ml one. Why? The 500ml cup of water has more water letting the salt have more room to dissolve. The more water, the easier salt can dissolve. If we were to test out the 200ml cup of water, the salt wouldn't dissolve as fast because they don't have as much water and room to dissolve. To sum it up, the more water, the faster salt will disolve.

Solids liquids and gas they are all states of matter. Solid is when something is packed do tightly together that the particles cant rally move but is all constantly in motion, with liquids they are spaced out enough to fill a container, and for gas that is supper spaced out so that it will always fill the space and if you keep adding more the only thing building up is pressure. In class today we had a lab of water temperature and salt to test which one would dissolve faster. the cold water was the slowest because it was harder to brake down. the hot water was the quickest because the hot water would also sorta melt the salt so combine that with me string it dissolved much quicker. in short the hotter the water the quicker the slat dissolved.

HEY! Don’t you dare mix salt and water together without your safety goggles. Today we did some experiments on different water temperatures and how they resolved salt. In short terms. The hotter the water, the more the salt dissolves. This is because the heat from the water makes particles of the salt spread apart and become the less dense state of matter, liquid. All in all, particle theory is the idea that matter consists of microscopic, or even smaller, particles that make up everything. The more they are packed together, the denser something is. With gas being the least dense and solids being the most.

In 200ml of water, there will be less water therefore less particles for the salt to mix through and rakes longer. In the 500ml, there will be more water therefore more particles for the salt to mix through thereby making it shorter time for it all to dissolve.

As for liquids, their particles are a bit farther apart compared to solids which are firm and stable, meaning that you can fit particles inside the liquid within the non-occupied space. For this reason, in a case where we figure whether to use 500mL water or 200mL water, we would use 500mL as it gives more area for the particles.

The more water you add the faster the salt will dissolve.
That is because liquids like water have gaps in between the particles letting other particles to fit in. Once you add too much salt the water will have a harder time mixing because you have too much salt in between those gaps.
