Jagger's scale cut out of the 'SUN".

Today, students learned how to make a perfect circle using only a pencil, scissors, and a ruler. Students created scale cut outs of planets using this scale chart. Jagger created this 'SUN' using his scale measurements. If the Earth was 1cm in diameter, the sun would be about 109 cm in diamter. They learned that they had to divide the scale diameters in half in order to get the radius they needed to measure out their lines for their circle cut outs. Our science projects turned into a math lesson on drawing and creating circles.

1.) MATH: Complete all integer multiplication questions for tomorrow.

2.) SCIENCE:

Continue working on your 'SCALE OF LARGE' projects.
Remember, you need to have all your objects drawn/made/cut out for tomorrow. You must spend some time tonight doing this.
You need your scale chart. Click here to see it in case you forgot it.
You also need your criteria sheet. Be sure to follow the rubric if you want to do well. Otherwise, you may be asked to complete it again.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

In your own words, explain step-by-step how to make a circle cut out using only a ruler, pencil, and a pair of scissors.
How do you get a circle with a specific diameter (distance across the centre of a circle) ? How do you use radius (distance from the centre of your circle to the outer edge)
How do you fold the paper?
Where do you measure your lines from?
Where do you cut?
Ask your classmates questions here if you can't remember or if you are unsure.
Give 2 students suggestions on other things they have missed in their explanations.

@ Ali - List out the steps and explain everything clearly. For example...

STEP 1: Fold your paper twice.
STEP 2: Draw lines from the folded corner.......

Firstly: You do the hamburger fold and then fold it again.
Secondly: You measure both sides.
Thirdly: You measure the side of the paper to see if the measurement is right.
Fourthly: You use the shorter measurement.
Fifthly: You draw out lines with a ruler.
Sixth: You draw a curved line on the tip of each line you made with the ruler.
Lastly: You cut on the curved line and then open it to get perfect circle.

How to make a circle
=============================
Firstly you grab a piece of paper and fold it symmetrically in half. It doesn't HAVE to be perfectly in line so ya. Secondly fold it again to the side of the fold or whatever. Thirdly, say you want to make Jupiter or something. Just grab a ruler and draw a line half the length of the entire length of the circle it's self. Draw a couple depending of how big your circle is. Lastly, just draw around it and cut it. BOOM! you're done.

~~~~ HOW TO MAKE A CIRCLE ~~~~

Firstly, you fold it the paper hamburger and fold it again.

Secondly, get a ruler and draw a line from the top left corner, and draw a line that connects the bottom of the lines you drew with the ruler.

Thirdly, get a scissor and cut it.

That's how you make a perfect circle.

Firstly, You will need; A piece of paper, scissors, a ruler, and a pencil. Secondly, fold the paper hamburger style two times. Thirdly, think of how big you want your circle. Eg. 8cm. Fourthly, you get your ruler and start at the corner ( not the flaps corner.) Fifthly, you will start in the center and go up 8cm. Make about 5-7 lines. After your done this, it will look like the quarter of your circle. Sixthly, you will connect the lines end to make it look like the quarter of the circle. seventhly, you will cut it out and unfold it. Taa Daa! you have a perfect Circle! :D

1.) First you have to fold the paper hamburger style,after you've dont that you have to fold it again

2.)Lets say you want to make a random planet that is 20cm,your diameter has to be the half of that diameter,so it would be 10cm

3.)You have to draw 5 lines from the corner on top,but it has to be 10cm long or else it wont be perfect.Later you have to draw a circle around the lines you drew then you have to cut it out

that's how you make a circle, think

Step1: you get a piece of paper and fold it two times.

Step2: you get your ruler and measure it as far as you want.

Step3: you get you scissors and cut it.

If it is a perfect circle good job if it isn't a perfect circle do it again.

1.) You start off with a peice of paper. Fold it hamburger style and fold it again.

2.) Grab your pencil and ruler and start where the center of the paper is(where the crease of the paper is)
Start from the center and get your ruler and measure until the certain size of the planet. Keep doing this in different angles, but ALWAYS START FROM THE CENTER.

3.) Connect and cut. After you drawn your lines connect them with each other with a symmetrical curve. After that get your handy dandy scissors and cut where you drawn the curves. Once you got that all done then unfold and KAPEEEEESHH you have a perfect circle.

@ Mr.Hong - I wasn't here but just from reading the comments and from my Background Knowledge ,

Firstly, you get a piece of paper and fold it hamburger 🍔 style from that fold your paper again.

Secondly, take your pencil ✏ and draw lines to the size of your planet ( not like the real size )
. Eg . Say your planet is 100 meters, Half that number which is 50 . Draw five lines from the left corner of the paper and after that draw a circle around the lines that you have made.

Third, get scissors ✂ and cut it where you have drawn the circle .

Then your done.? 😎

I'll try my best here.

You have to fold your paper as many times as you want. Then you draw lines to whatever point you need it to go. THEN YOU CUT ON THE FOLDED SIDE IF YOU DON'T THAN YOU WILLOW MESS UP. Then you unfold and bam mmmmmm! !

First you fold the paper hamburger the you fold it so it looks like a book.
Second you draw lines with a ruler with half its size.
Third you draw a circle using the lines and it would look like a sunset sun.
Fourth you cut and fold to get your final result ant it is a little sharp just make it look like a circle a little more. I hope this helps.

step 1: fold the paper 2 times
step 2: draw lines from the folded part
step 3: cut the paper where the lines end and voila you have a circle

U take a piece of paper and food it once hamburger style then once hotdog style then u take a ruler then measure the sides make sure there exactly the same size then u cut it out
