FRIDAY: HILLCREST CONQUERS THE GROUSE GRIND!

Although today was a rainy day, spirits were high when we left the school for Grouse Mountain. It was a delight to see every single grade 6 and 7 student challenge themselves physically and mentally! They had set their own personal goals of what they wanted to accomplish today and they all achieved their goals! All of the teachers are proud of every single one of our students and couldn't be happier to see the proud smiles on your faces when you finished the Grouse Grind! All of you should be proud of yourselves for what you accomplished today!

The grouse grind was awesome.i had set goal to beat which was one hour twenty five minutes and I beat it by 2 minutes.also when I climbing up the mountain and I slipped a few times and I was almost out of water which stunk.At the top it felt so good to be up and to have lunch.Overall I had a great time

The Grouse Grind was tiring. At first I thought it was going to be easy and fun....then it got harder, and harder, and harder!!! I almost fell a few times and I got mud on my legs and clothes. But, as we passed the quarter markers I got motivation from me and my friends! As we saw the top I was so happy and exhausted, I almost ran to the top!😄 Then, relief! We were at the end and got to get out of the rain and cold and eat!!! The gonadala was so amazing and the view was stupendous. After all that I would say my first trip on the Grouse Grind was.............Fantastical!!!!!!!

The Grouse Grind was tiring. At first I thought it was going to be easy and fun....then it got harder, and harder, and harder!!! I almost fell a few times and I got mud on my legs and clothes. Ready to have the most tiring hour of your life? That is what it is like when you are about to start hiking the grouse grind once you start hiking, enjoy. I really enjoyed the grouse grind because I exeeded in my goal and it was pretty cool to hike in the clouds though unfortunatly there was not much of a view because of the clouds, not to mention the funest part was sitting down at the top hanging out with your friends eating food. It is so awesome. I also enjoyed the hike much more now than when I actually did it because now I reflect on my accomplishment without feeling so tired. I am sort of disapointed because the lumberjack and bear show where cancel and the view wasn't superior reflecting back on the other times but atleast the Gr.6's get to see it next time. Overall I think a did very good for what I was hoping to achieve and next time I am going to try to do even beter for my last trip. What will you conquer next time?

Whose tired? Cause today we did the Grouse Grind! I think everyone survived, but wet... I was! There was lots of chipmunks [correct me if I'm wrong] and they were friendly. I saw lots of mini waterfalls near the top. We are all so good at this! I felt so relived when I reached the top! Did you? When I was inside the gondola, my I couldn't hear out of my right ear! When we were halfway back to the school, my ear popped! It hurt, but felt good! Can't wait 'till next time!

Yesterday I did the grouse grind in the rain! First, It was probably the most horrible thing you could do because you get really wet and muddy plus the steps get slippery. So this time was my worst record so far because of the rain. Second, But at the top I was so happy that I finished and all I wanted to do is sit down and eat. At the top I just hung out with my friends and watched the movie for the first and the gift shop. I never looked them because I was always outside the whole time but this time all I wanted to do was stay in. And last, I normally take like 10-30 minutes to fall asleep but last night I don't even remember trying to fall asleep. As soon as I layed down I was asleep! Today I don't think I ever want to use the stairs again.

@Julio, I agree about what you said, it is the most horrible thing you could do. Also, I suggest you reread what you wrote because I saw som capitals that shouldn't be capitalized. And you said "I" a couple more times than you should. other than thhat good job, very detailed.

i woke up early with butterflies in my stomach. It was my first time doing the grouse grind and it was raining!!!!! At the start I was nervous but it was not too hard then everything changed. At the half-mark i told myself "don't stop. You can do this!!!!" When i got to the top i felt great. It was nice to hear everyone cheering. It was really encouraging!!!! My goal for June is to improve my time. I can't wait to try again!!!!! How about you??

Yesterday I did the Grouse Grind but in the rain that was horrible. When you started the Grouse it was fun and then you lost your breath so fast then you lost your breath so fast. Every time i went to the Grouse Grind i improved on my goal to get lower numbers every time and i did!iwitch is a big improvment to me. When you get to the top its like you want to die because its so hard and it feels like you did something incredible witch you did. Over all the Grouse Grind was awesome but really hard and slippery but i had a great time hanging with friends and we all got exited when we saw all the signs.

First ever trip to Grouse Grind wasn't really what I expected it to be like but it was a ton of fun and really challenging. Waiting outside the gate was probably the hardest part of the trip. Waiting made my stomache hurt becuase I was so nervous and wanted to get it over with.Finally when we started to head up I felt really wobly and excited. As we head up walking became harder and harder, I got really tired but I knew I had already commited to it so I couldn't turn back. A quarter of the way up I was already dying so I wasn't as excited for the other three quarters but I knew that there is no point in complaining and the only thing I could do is keep heading up. At the half way mark I was running low on water and snacks I tried to save some but that didn't work so I was hungry and thirsty the rest of the way up. At the three quarters mark I thought to myself just keep going, just keep going, just keep going and then you can sit down and rellax but that didn't help at all. I had to stop several times to take pictures but acually I was stoping to catch my breath, my friends were complaining at me but I was just taking pictures(catching my breath). I started to run when I heard somone yelling "I SEE THE TOP" not far away from me. I ran a couple steps then I collapsed in pain so then I walked. When I saw the top I ran past all the people and in to the building. I was proud of my self for completing Grouse Grind in the pouring rain I bought myself some fries and a maple candy.My first time doing the Grouse Grind was truly amazing I don't think I'll ever forget it!😄

The Grouse Grind was definitely not what I expected. This was my fourth time doing the Grouse Grind and it was probably my worst time since it was raining. I was thinking the rain would be nice because I wouldn't sweat but it was the complete opposite. (I think I got frostbite.) Anyways, as always it was great to reach the top and I was proud of myself for hiking up such a big trail in the pouring rain.

On Friday, I had the "best" birthday ever! The grade six and sevens hiked up the Grouse Grind.
At the beginning it was pretty easy because I was so enthusiastic about getting to the top. Where my mom was going to give me a birthday gift.
About half way through my calves were burning even though I wasn't even carrying a backpack. Fortunately there was never a dull moment though, because I was talking to two of my friends, Darnell and Trent, we talked about things like Doctor Who and how excited we were for the first episode of season nine to air on Saturday. when we made it to the top I was proud for getting up the mountain in one hour and forty seven minutes. When we went into the Chalet, my mom gave me my present, it is called a Jacobs Ladder, and it is this cool toy that you can do a lot of cool tricks with. Darnell, Trent and I got a Maple Syrup lollypop which tasted amazing. Unfortunately, it was time to go back to school. On the Gondola it was a really fun and bumpy ride down. Overall, I think that this was one of my best birthdays ever, because I didn't just spend it sitting down and eating cake, I actually did something fun.

Imagine, plunging through the cold rain, through a line of unending stairs that keep on apearing after each and every step for almost 2 hours, just for marks. Just when I thought the the day couldn't have gotten any better, with this "awesome" hike, it started raining. Deep wet puddles in every step, and slippery rocks that you have to climb. Every little girls dream. But wait, it gets better, later on in te hike the steps turrn into rocks that get higher, higher, and higher. That's not even the best part, just when I've been hiking an regretting ever having legs, I hear people screaming with excitment. Is it the 3 quarter mark? No, its just the half way mark. So, here's a life lesson to all you people out there, "You can't change the past, so change the future and don't make the same mistake twice."

@ Rainbow Unicorn, I love your paragraph! But one suggestion would be to add something positive to it. Also, to me it seems more like an intro so I would try to make it a little more like a paragraph if you understand what I mean. Other than that, great job!

I had a great time climbing the mountain. I beat my old record of one hour and 30 minutes my new record is 1 hour and twenty three minutes. Brandon and I hike up together then we met Ty and we hiked together. After I finished I felt good about beat my old record. In the end I felt good a bout finishing with a good and I had fun doing it

The Grouse Grind was a LOT of fun. One part I did not like was the rain, rain rain rain, all day long so fun and WET! I was still proud of myself that I made it to the top. It felt like Mt Everesst, but when i got to the top of that mountian, my arms were numb like omg it was freezing. Hopefully I get better time next time. when i got to the top of the mountain i wanted to see the view but the clouds blocked the view. Even though it was cold and raining, I had a blast!!!!!!!

Calem and I hike up for a quarter then I saw Col then me and Col hiked to the top. After I finished I felt awesome about beating my old time so I rewarded my self with candy and food and more candy. I was happy for finishing for the third time, I had fun walking up with friends.

"Are we there yet." The grouse grind feels never ending but when your done its such a accomplishment! Firstly,I climbed the Grouse Grind with my Nana. She is so amazing. I stayed with her even though I could of gone ahead. But I wanted to do it with her and now I will have that memory forever. Sure, I could of gone ahead but for what? Secondly, I did not beat my time. The best time I have had on the Grouse Grind was an hour and 15 minutes. This time was an hour and 27 but that was because I took my time and stayed with my nana. Lastly, I did not like the rain because to me, it was heavy and made the Grouse Grind a little harder. But as I said before, I loved the feeling of accomplishment when you finish it. To conclude, those are my thought on the Grouse Grind. I hope all of you guys liked it and can't wait to do it again.

"I keep tripping my legs are stiff".That's what it was like doing the grouse grind. This was my 3rd time doing this and by far the hardest because that day it started to rain making everything slippery.

Secondly while I was climbing I was pretty high up I saw Tristan almost fall down the mountain good thing he didn't 😅. While the hike up I myself and Cody stayed about the same speed uphill so we just talked on the way up.

Lastly I should have beat mr Hong up the mountain I wanted that free smoothie so bad 😂. For me the worst part was I got my worst time which was 50 minutes and 17 seconds my best was 46 something. Well at least at the top there was food and a gift shop so that's what I did at the top.

In conclusion the grouse grind was fun hopefully next time it's not raining and I wear runners not high cuts 😑 and beat my beat my best time.

The grouse grind was phiscally and mentally challenging, but I'm very proud of myself for accomplishing the grind in 1 hour and 13 mins! Good job to everyone for doing the grind. I'm so glad for trying new thing and pushing my limits - such a great opportunity!💪

I was walking up the mountain and thinking to myself are we half way yet? But then I saw the sign and it said 5/40... Ughhh nooooo!!!!!

I started to get a feeling that was saying come on keep going you can do this. My legs were shaking but I knew how happy I would be when I got to the top so I kept on going!

I got near the top it was getting foggy!and I was worrying that it would be too foggy to see!

Conclusion- when I was at the top the feeling was incredible! I was so relieved 😅

The grouse grind was so tiring.When I first started walking up the grouse grind it was fine to climb up but then when I got to the 1/4 mark it started to get a little bit tiring but then again the scenery was amazing and a huge sigh of relief left my shoulders because I was 1/4 of the way.Then suddenly my legs were starting to feel like jelly!I was wondering where is the top where is the 1/2 mark?Is this ever going to end?Then the 1/2 mark line was just up ahead!When I got there I was starting to get excited again!Finaly I am almost there at the 3/4 mark.When I heard people cheering and saw the rocks I knew that I was at the top!When I found some of my friends we sat down and ate our lunches,browsed at the gift shop.We talked and talked and then it was time for the gonadal ride.It was bumpy but it was fun!The grouse grind was such a great experince!

2 girls walking up a mountain through the foggy forest side by side wut will happen to them. On friday I went to the grouse grind with my friend Jill but it rained so fun yay rain on the hike at the 1/2 point i saw a squirrel staring at me as i gave all my friends some dorito's so when he was sitting on the bench beside my friend sukie i threw a dorito behind it so when he/she left he/she grabbed the dorito in its mouth and ran into the forest.:D love squirrels but really it might have been a chipmunk it had an orange chest just like my pet squirrel chessey so cute.<3
