Tomorrow is sports day. Be sure to dress in your team colours tomorrow! Also, memorize your team cheers! If you have any questions about sports day, feel free to post your questions here.

You will complete your powerful responses in class likely on Monday.

2.) SOCIALS/SCIENCE:

Your Geocache must be submitted before Saturday. If it is not, your mark will be affected. You must discuss this and get organized with your group.

3.) POST A RESPONSE:

Which thinking and learning questions made you think deeper over the last couple of days?
Who pushed your thinking?
How did they push your thinking?
What types of questions push your thinking?
Ask two students questions about their responses.
Respond to any questions you receive.

A powerful learning question for Iqbal was how long did Iqbal try/train to climb out the high window.

One was why doesn't the grandma love her family and care for them. Second In the book it said how can a weed push through something so hard and Che-euon said Lydia is the weed and the earth is poverty.
Che-euon and Kavishka pushed my thinking. Che-euon pushed my thinking as I said at the top. Kavishka pushed my thinking by saying maybe the grandmas being mean because of her past. The kind of question that push my thinking are questions that have a deep meaning.

One why does know one look for Gopal don't they know he is missing at all. Second does Gopal what to be leader of the boys or does he not want to be leader. Finally will Baba the dad return home. Logan pushed my thinking by saying did Baba die that pushed my thinking. The kind of question that push my thinking are questions that the ones that stick out.

A powerful learning question for Lost Riders is How will uncle Bilal save the children from slavery.

Liam pushed my thinking by saying maybe uncle Bilal was able to sneak the kids out when the owners weren't looking.

A powerful question was maybe the owners of the uzba were sold and forced to ride camels when they were young too

My book (A Long Walk to Water) is a very interesting book that leaves many questons behind for you to answer. By the time you figure out a question in your mind the answer appears right in front of your face the next second. But the most interesting thing that left our group wondering was, "What relationship / do Salva and Nya's stories have in common? What do they booth connect to?". It may sound deep, but the answer still lies within the book to be answered but yet, we are all still searching for it.

Everybody in my group had pushed my thinking a little further. Not as much as Vish did. Vish had all sorts of questions that would either confuse you to how it would leave you wondering on how an interesting question it was and make you amazed both at the same time. I really like my group, and whenever it comes to group discussions there's always something interesting coming out of Vishy's mind.

From my questions, I would be asking quite a mind-solving question that would take them a while, but sometimes my group members don't answer. Instead they ask questions related to that same question but the question expands more into a big idea because after that next question one of us would answer then we'd all have more questions that get even deeper into the story.

Puffle pushed my thinking by saying maybe Gopals baba (which means dad) died when he went on the bus of the bus was attacked by a gang and killed or they were held hostage and are not going to be aloud to go any were. Fish sticks pushed my thinking that bad people just like Scar the mean man that keeps them hostage, need to survive to so they need money to buy food, buy water and pay bills just like us.

@Cookielover great job backing up some of your points with examples. But, there might be a few things you you made a mistake on. For example, your grammar is a bit off so read it out to yourself, and there is one word I am not sure you capitalized its scar. But good job.😊

One thinking and learning question that my group came up with that is pushing my thinking is how does Harriett learn all these things like how to talk, sing, etc. If she was a slave. There where lots of other questions I had too and so I looked in one of my almanacs and found out the union army is the rebel group in the civil war (American civil war). So they where fighting the army. When president Abraham Lincoln became president and made slavery illegal. Then he got assassinated by a gun shot to the head.

Mr. Hong pushed my hinking and my thinking got pushed when the question was very deep and hard to answer because the book mentions no to very little about it.

A thinking and learning question that pushed my thinking was; who is the "carpet mafia" and why did they kill Iqbal? I think this made me think deeper because it made me think about real life and that this happens everywhere in the world and child slavery can't be stopped easily.

I think that the helper teacher pushed my thinking because she came over and started talking about what I just said.

Some types of questions that pushed my thinking is questions that could have multiple answers depending on how you think.

(My book is Iqbal)The one that has pushed my thinking was Pebbles. She was the one that asked, "Do you think Iqbal cutting the carpet a good idea?" Then that made me think, was him running away a good idea? Later, she said he knew what would happen later if he did not get away with it. Leading to me having the post a few days ago where I said he knew the consequences of his actions. Others would be dragged down with him, getting punished for his actions. The other children got accused of being in on his escape. Many other people in my group were asking, "Who's the carpet mofia?!" Making me think of when Iqbal was about to die he was riding a bike alone. But, he was not with his family. He was only going home on holidays to visit his family. On the one of the few days of the year he sees his family and he goes biking alone? It does no t feel right to me.

Boys Without Names:

A thinking and learning question that pushed my thinking is, what happened to Baba (Gopal's dad)? I think that Baba just got lost or kidnapped, he could have even gotten a job so that he could support his family. I personally don't think that anything bad has happened to baba. Then _____ (I forget their code name) said that its possible that he could have died, the bus could have crashed ect.

A thinking and learning question that pushed my thinking is, why is grandama Motsie so mean to Lydia, Joe, and Kesi? Tweety bird pushed my thinking by saying that grandma Motsie is mean because she was sad by her sons death so she was trying to feel better by blaming other. Also she thinks that it's not her sons fault. The types of question that push my thinking is the question that can have many different answers and can push my thinking deep.

A thinking and learning question that pushed my thinking was, Why did Rashid have no self confidence for anything? This pushed my thinking to many conclusions and I have to say that Rashid should stand up to his fears and not bow down to them. A thinking and learning question should make you think beyond the text and make you think about many different answers to one or more questions. DEEP THINKING

To be honest, I think I was only person in my group who had done the thinking and learning questions. Even if someone else were done, I wasn't told about their questions. To conclude, I think that in the next group discussion, my group needs to talk about thinking and learning questions.

I was thinking about how, the mother and father got aids. I got the answer but i'm not going to say because it is a spoiler. It made me think deeper into the story. For example, What was the dads background? Did he maybe get into some bad stuff? Chae-Eun pushed my thinking by saying that a simple sentence was more than just that sentence. The weeds represented Lydia's life and it was a very powerful.

Are five words enough for a meaningful thinking and learning question? Will that be deep enough? No! Infact, thinking and learning questions are usually questions that involve your deep understanding ans thinking based on what might happen in the book or what already happened. Questions like this, also include your connections, thoughts, and your background knowledge. Firstly, why did Salva never gave up? Wait a second....... let me rephrase that. As I said above, the thinking and learning question that brightened up my heart was ,"How do Salva's and Nya's stories relate to each other? What makes them the same?". With this in mind, I always try to think on how they relate to each other because, the title of the book is called, "A Long Walk To Water". However, in the book Nya does mostly that but, Salva's story is way different from Nya's side. Additionally, I hope that we/ my group will be able to figure out on what the answer is to this question.

Secondly, who pushed my thinking? Well, to start, everyone in my group pushed my thinking however, there was one person that made my thinking get brighter. And that was Vish, he did this by always asking on what happend in the book. Infact, Vish helped me so much since, I never knew that if I tell on what happened it might get me across a question that I never knew it was there by, thinking more deeply.

Lastly, the questions that push my thinking are usually questions that are not simple like, "Why did Chris run away?". Infact, they are questions that must involve your thinking on what happend in the book and what might happen later on. There also, questions that are deep thinking questions like, "If Chris knew that his mom was the person that betrayed him, why would he still trust her?".

One of the thinking and learning questions that pushed my thinking was What did Baba go through while he was missing? CottonCandylover both pushed my thinking by saying that maybe Baba died and that Gopal had to do all the work since he was gone. The types of thinking and learning questions that push my thinking are one's that are meaningful and deep or questions that connect to the real world.

One thinking and learning question that I really liked most of us has already had. It was... "Who do you think the carpet mafia is? Why are they threatened by Iqbal? Why did they kill Iqbal? They may seem like little questions that are easy for a thinking and learning question, but trust me their not. If you have read the story Iqbal like me, you would have deep anwsers to. Sarah kind of pushed my thinking because for the thinking and learning question above, she added "Why do they feel threatened by Iqbal?" Nobody else pushed my thinking because 2-3 members in my group don't stay on topic and never go on the topic so the group discussions don't really help push my thinking.
