Fit Kids practice!

It seems like just yesterday Vancouver was hosting the 2010 Olympic Winter Games! I still can't believe it was about four years ago that it took place. It was a celebration of athleticism and most importantly, the culture of not only our country, but cultures of the world! If you don't remember what the opening ceremonies were like, click here to check it out! With the Sochi Winter Olympics Games fast approaching, you will be able to connect to the different cultural celebrations.

1.) MATH 6: Any assigned work.
MATH 7: Complete worksheet 2.5 and Grid handout.
You must watch this video to prepare for your Math class next week.
2.) LA:

If you haven't completed your NYR essay, be sure your first draft is completed on by Monday and you have made your first round of edits/revisions according to your peer assessment.

In paragraph form, what do the Summer and Winter Olympics represent to you?

I think it means the pride of Nations to see who is the best who will take the gold metals why I think this is because without it. All the athletes have to do something else and waste a good talent. That is what I think it's about.

In my opinion, th winter and summer Olympics represent each countrie to see who is the best at the certain sport. For example,If Canada got gold in skating, that would be a big accomplishment and it would represent canada very well. I think the Olympics also show culture. In other words, there is the country flag, or maybe their outfit has the country colours, or theme. I think the winter and summer Olympics are very enjoyable to watch, and see who wins the competition! As a famous Olympian once said, "Don't put a limit on anything the more you dream, the further you'll get"

The Summer and Winter Olympics for me is a time to watch countries from around the world compete in a series of sports events. To me it also means representing your country in sports. For example, four years ago in the Winter Olympics Canada beat the U.S. in the gold medal hockey game. It represented our country well and it was even better because Team Canada won in Vancouver. Michael Phelps once said "Don't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the further you get." In conclusion, that is what I think the Olympics is about.

In my point of view, the summer and Winter Olympics is just a huge competion that every one from diferant cultures and countries come together to compete for a medal. I think that being in the Olympics is not a simple task. As is it takes leadership and teamwork to acomplish a lot of these games. And is defenatly takes a lot of dedication, you cannot just slack around and hope that you will get the talent for this sport. As Jesse Owens says "If you don't try to win you might as well hold the Olympics in somebody's back yard." She is basically saying if you don't try and you do not commit to participating and practicing, you might as well do nothing.

The Olympics to me is watching the best athletes in each sport represent their country in hope to get a gold medal. I think this because only the best althletes in each sport play in the Olympics. Also because athletes are honoured to represent their country, they all work harder than usual so they can bring home gold, because the Olympics only happen every four years, you have to play well. Lastly because it gives you a chance to be around and play with the best athletes, and have a ranking in the world. If you win, you are number one in the world in that sport, silver means second, bronze means third, etc.

I think that the Olympics is an event that is hosted every 4 years at 1 place around the world and all different kinds of athletes go and join the Olympics. For Example, A lot of famous hockey players join the their country hockey teams like Crosby was placed onto the Canada team and Ryan Kesler was put onto the USA team. Another example I got from my background knowledge is that in the beginning of the Olympics when it starts they have a big opening ceremony with all of these participants from each country starting the Olympics and wishing them all luck.

The Olympics represent a time of friendly sports competitions of which people all over the world can take part in. One place is picked to host, and I think that that is very important. If each sport was in a different place, then the torch couldn't be in the same city as each of those places. The torch means a lot, and it is very pretty. I know this because me and my family went to see the 2010 Olympic Torch in Downtown Vancouver. All in all, I think the Olympics are very exciting and very important. Just like Scott Hamilton said, "Most other competitions are individual achievements, but the Olympic Games is something that belongs to everybody!"

In my opinion, the summer and winter olympics represent our countries and how hard each and every single one of the athletes has worked to show off their country. When we win a medal, we celebrate because of the hard work and how that athlete took hours of his/her days. These people do it to show each country of what we are made of. A quote made by Serena Williams who won 3 gold medals at the olympic games said, “Luck has nothing to do with it, because I have spent many, many hours, countless hours, on the court working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would come." That is just one thing to prove my point. Another example would be when Vincent Hancock was competing in skeet shooting and only missed 2/150 shots to the target. That shows the hard work made by him. This man has gone through a lot. In fact he was in the military until he was 23 and returned as a sergeant. He says it taught him so much. My last point is that one of the hardest parts is becoming the athlete. You have to be very fit, choose your sport, find somewhere you can train, and lots more. There is more to it but thats it for me.

I think the summer and winter olympics represent the ability to train certan cidisons to win an event againts other countrys. It would make a countrys leader proud of his/her country. This event makes people proud of their country and is egsisting because the majority of the people like it. In conclusion, the olympics are around to make people proud and happy.

In my opinion, the summer and the winter Olympics are competitions with many different countries, each representing themselves. If the competitors of a country wins a gold medal, they get famous right away. I found the same quote as Ichigo that is by the 3 gold medalist, Serena Williams. “Luck has nothing to do with it, because I have spent many, many hours, countless hours, on the court working for my one moment in time, not knowing when it would come". The quote is meaning each country should work very hard to achieve his/her goal. Serena's routine was probably Eat. Drink. Train.
One country is picked to host the match and that is where the "torch" is and it is very fragile and special.

In my opinion, the games are for country's who want to show there skills at a big event. The athlete's train for hours on end and push them selves so they can be the best they can be. A quote from Sanya Richards Ross -- " Failure I can live with not trying is what I can't handle!" a good quote. If the athlete that competes dose not work out or train they will not be very good or they will injurer them selves. You have to be very good at the sport your doing because you don't want to be a pro cycler and start doing javelin right before the Olympics. In conclusion I thank all who reads this.

Alright redoing mine I messed up on it.

What it represents is all of the countries, because it is when multiple of countries gather and do a series of sports that is about leadership and honor. What it means to me is that our Canadian team of Olympic contestants represent us and the rest of Canada everywhere. It would also mean to show their amazing athletic skills in each event they do.

For example, during the 2010 winter olympics held by Canada, the most gold medal winning team is Canada lead by the team players. Now this year, we hope during the next season event that canada will get into a good spot with great players to represent Canada.

In conclusion, we would all want to thank the other countries for a good olympics and them people who represented their own country. If it wasn't for their bravery then why would they participate in these games? Why would they even be there for you? Of course there's many answers to those questions. To me I would say the olympics is a way of showing our pride and our passion for sports and how we play and it shows how as a country we can accomplish lots of things. "When I'm on planes, I'd talk to people and I'd tell them I compete in the X Games. Some would know what it was, but maybe half didn't. But everyone knows about the Olympics. They're really like the X Games for the world!"

I think the Olympics is a huge gathering of countries best athletes to compete. They compete for metals gold, silver, and bronze. To show who is the best. The compete to see which countries have the best athletes in each sport. For example, if you get Canada won a gold in hockey, Canada would be the best at hockey. It makes countries very proud to get a metal in the Olympics because it shows that that country is the one of the best of that sport. The Olympics is a big deal to a lot of people.

I think both of the Olympics represent our country. Athletes from around the world come and compete in these games. Many people though would like to be able to go to the Olympics and watch them not just on tv. When they came to canada my friend had three tickets to curling and we went to that. But as Shania Twain said I'd like to see the Olympics live. I've only watched it on television. So I got very lucky. But like said before they represent our country. Like when Sidney Crosby scored Canada's winning goal.

In my opinion I think that the Summer and Winter Olympics are all about witch country is the best witch (by the way) I think is not good. I think this because they race each other to see who is the best and some are not always that nice to each other. Lastly I think this because I just plainly and simply do not like the Olympics so I am doing anything to try and dis them.

The winter olympics sais a lot to me, the best of the best comes to my mind the best winter teams and athlets come to these huge tournaments/games. There are also lots of teams per tournament, The other cool thing is they have more than one event they have a ton per olympics. Here is a link and it shows you all the events for the winter and summer olyimpics. Lastly when I think of the olympics I think of respect all players and teams show eachother respect not all the time but they do. That is what I thnik of the winter olympics.
