1.) LA - Hatchet Quiz and Idioms quiz on Monday.
2.) Science - Summarize all of your research. Remember, the best way to summarize your information is to learn the content of your research, and then write/type out everything you know about each of your subtopics in a logical manner. It is not a good idea to write your summaries while you read your research because often times, students 'PARAPHRASE' and forget to 'SUMMARIZE'. Don't forget to write logically and pay attention to the givens (spelling, grammar, punctuation, transitions, capitals, etc). Note, you need to 'SUMMARIZE' your research and the material from the textbook.
3.) MATH 6 - Watch this video on 'ESTIMATING DECIMALS'
MATH 7 - Watch this video on 'MULTIPLYING WITH DECIMALS'
4.) Email a picture of your soapstone carvings to Mr. Hong.
5.) Bring your inside shoes to school on Monday.
6.) POST A MESSAGE: Explain the difference between 'SUMMARIZING' and 'PARAPHRASING' in a short paragraph (3-5 sentences).

summarizing- changing 3 paragraphs to 1 paragraph.by getting rid of whole unneeded sentences even paragraphs.

paraphrasing- going into the work and changing 10 words to create pretty much the same amount of writing.

It is totally up to you. However, I recommend typing it out so that you can easily make edits/revisions.

Summarizing is when you take out any research that is not reliable or helpful for the person learning.

Paraphrasing is when you put the information you got from a different person into your own words. Not just a few words everything you can.

Summerizing- it's when you take out a whole sentence or 2 and that's taking out the non important.

Paraphrasing- is when you change 15 words and change some sentences.

Summerizing is like using a comb to see every little piece of information into your own words. Also you should have alot less information when summing your information up, (only the main points). All of the information is how you explain it!

Paraphrasing is read from the information you have and as you go you just change like one or two words, and pretty much it is still not into your own words!

These are my opinion about the differences between paraphrasing and summerizing! :D

Whats the difference between paraphrasing and summarizing? Paraphrasing is when you copy word for word, what another person has wrote. Then, changing a few words. Summarizing is when you read over someones' writing. Then, making it shorter in your own words, only taking the main points.

Summarizing - To give a brief statement of the main points of something.

Paraphrase - Is to restate of a text in another form or other words, often to simplify or clarify meaning.

Print your summaries so that you have a hard copy for your research folders. Remember to organize your information so that it is easy to read and presentable.

Sumerizing- is when you take the whole paragraph out but you leave the most important reasearch and than you put it in your own words.
Paraphrasing- is when you pratically copy the whole thing but you maybe just switched a word or two.

Summarizing is when you take out the main points or, also called content of your research and put it in your own words. You also take out the information that won't be useful. Normally when you do this, you will find that there is less information. But the good part is, that you can still claim that you did it with out copying someone else's work.

Paraphrasing is practically the opposite of summarizing. It's when you take, lets say maybe a sentence that someone else wrote and then just change a couple of words. This is not changing it to your own words.

paraphrasing is when you change 3 sentances into 1.

summarizingis when you put it in your own words and take out information that is not on topic.

Summarizing is just making a piece of writing shorter but it still has the same meaning.

Paraphrasing is just changing up the writing by just a little bit. You basically copy all the writing and change up some words.

I remember that Mr.Hong had said that when we make our power point presentations, he wants it in paragraph form. But I'm no so sure if it's ok to do it in point form when we are summarizing.

Paraphrasing is when you take information and change only a few words.

Summarizing is when you read the information and change it completely into your own words. You also take out information which is not nessesary.

@Mr.Hong, I am doing research for Earthquakes,n although I was looking through the textbook as you asked (to find additional information), but I couldnt find anything on the different faults! If there is one, but I just couldnt see it, can you let me know?

pg.265 shows different information on the faults (this is the BC SCIENCE 7 Textbook, I am not sure what page it is in the probe textbook)

The difference between paraphrasing and summarizing is when you paraphrase you just make a few small changes. Changing a few words making it sound more like how you would write. While summarizing is when you read over something and then just write the main points. With paraphrasing if your reading was 10 pages, it would still be 10 pages while if you were summarizing those 10 pages would become only 2. The differences between paraphrasing and summarizing is like difference between editing and revising.

paraphrasing is when u make a few changes in your writting.also in the way you change your words you use paraphrasing to make it sound better. summerizing is when you read over your work and all your doing is putting it into your own words.

Summarizing is completely changing the writing and making it shorter where, paraphrasing is only changing a few words

Paraphrasing: Change a few words in a paragraph.
