Today, we received our first post card from a student in Pennsylvania. Through social media, we have had many opportunities to connect with students from across the globe. So far, we have connected with students from several areas of the U.S.A. and from Sweden. Click here to read the responses from some of these students. Div 1 and 2 students, feel free to add to this Padlet if another student has asked a question. The Global Read Aloud has helped us learn from others.

1.) WORD WORK:

Complete your Word Work assignment for tomorrow. BE SURE TO HIGHLIGHT or CHANGE THE COLOUR OF THE WORDS from the list in your story.
Follow instructions on this Google Slideshow and add to your slide.
Quiz tomorrow on spelling, definitions, and word usage.

2.) POST A RESPONSE:

Read through some of the stories written by your classmates on the Google Slideshow.
Post descriptive feedback for them on today's PAR.
Your suggestions should include 2-3 points they need to fix.
Be specific with your feedback.
Be sure to include word usage, spelling, or grammatical issues.
Edit/revise your slide on the slideshow based on your peer assessment or self-assessment.

@Shannon, overall I think that your story is fantastic. A thing that you should fix is the capitalization of Professor Mark. In on of the sentences it says professor marks but I think it should be Professor Mark's. Another thing that you could fix is the oppressive sun one. I think it says the. oppressive. Good job! :)

@Unaid You are nicely done you slideshow, nice job. Just 2 point I need to say. First Your word are too small to read Second the word are too light.
you will do better after you fix that(^-^)

@ Everyone - Digital citizenship is something we will all be working on this school year. Unfortunately, students from division 1 and division 2 have acted inappropriately. These students will have their parents called in tomorrow. Feel free to email an apology to me in advance. I'm not impressed.

@emily you pargraph was great! I was really engaged while I was reading your paragraph. You might want to fix a few minor typos ( parents=parent's, everytime= every time, ghost=ghosts, worryfree= worry-free).

@adrian I loved reading your paragraph, it wasn't too long that I got bored of reading it and it wasn't too short. One thing that you could do, is to use some adjectives. (very worried = anxious, poor = penniless). there is also one grammar mistake, After Amal (WERE is suppose to be was) asleep, her neighbour walked down the street and found that some pieces of the porcelain were dissipated. Overall great job!

@Unaid I love your story and the plot is great! you had both quality and quantity, though had some tiny grammar mistakes. Firstly, I think "After school I got another congratulations " should be modified as "congratulation". Secondly, for “WHY DO I HURT MYSELF.”, it should be "WHY DO I HURT MYSELF?". A question mark should be put at the end, right? Lastly, for “Sit down,.” you added a comma where you shouldn't. Over all your story was great and I truly enjoyed reading it. A suggestion next time is to paste your paragraph in word before posting, thus you can see all the mistakes, then correct them and post it. - Your good friend Kevin.

@ Anita - Great story! I liked how you followed the criteria and made a complete story, instead of just putting separate sentences together. Even then, there are some improvements that can be made. Maybe next time you should read over your writing to double-check for mistakes. Another thing is to be careful of run-on sentences. Instead of putting commas, just end the sentence with a period. Otherwise, I really enjoyed your piece of writing!

@adrian- my feed back is your grammar there quit a few words that did not make sense with the sentences for example some rumours let me to think thatpeaple are poor. When you should have said led. Also first u said that it was a sunny day but the you said that that night the wind was eerily. Also you just rushed the sentences and most of then were hard to under stand. I think that maybe you should put in a little more effort. I liked how you put in photos though.
