Gr. 7 Year-end survey

You have several major assignments due by next Friday. You must complete your inquiry projects and your Novel Approach work. These are your two final assignments for Social Studies and LA. If you want to end the year off strong and improve your evaluations on your report cards, this is the time to do it! Stay motivated and let's end the year strong! Get all your work done, update your digital portfolios on FG, and keep on participating on TEAMS! Let's do this everyone!

IMPORTANT:

1.) NOVEL APPROACH:

Organize a time to meet with your BOOK CLUBS on a daily basis for 20-30 minutes.
Discuss some GOW, TL Questions, and your general opinions and perspectives on the novel you are reading.
Students who are not participating onTEAMS will see this reflected on your report cards.

2.) MATH:

Motivation is a important to have. Especially during remote learning! Today I'm going be talking about how I've been staying motivated during this time.

I think I have been motivated as I have been all year. For example I'm always trying to complete my work as soon as possible. Sometimes I procrastinate, but overall I'm doing pretty well. The reason that I'm motivated is that if I finish my work quickly then I get to relax sooner! This is what helps me motivated. Overall I think I have been doing really well in motivation.

This year was super fun and exciting, I can’t believe in 2 weeks grade 7 will be over. Lately, I’ve been pretty motivated. Maybe it’s because the school year is ending soon? I’m not too sure myself. But, some things that kept me motivated are kinda unusual. First of all, I usually watch youtube as I do work. It helps me focus on my work and motivates me. Don’t really know why it helps me get motivated while doing work but it works! Secondly, I eat snacks while doing work, like I said pretty unusual. Again, don’t really know why but it helps me think more (if that makes sense) and keeps me calm. I usually eat snacks like popcorn, chips, crackers and sometimes my breakfast, lunch and dinner. I think I’m doing pretty well during this time, I’ve been keeping up with my homework and put a lot of effort into them. As well as participate in teams as much as I can. Actually I think I know why I’ve been so motivated to do my homework and ect, I’ve been pretty bored. I haven’t got anything to watch so I entertain myself by doing homework, kinda weird but eh. Even though I’ve been doing surprisingly well, I think I could do better with math. I could study more for math quizzes/tests since I always forget at least 2 things during the math test or even the rest because of stress. I should try to study more and make sure I understand the subject. Honestly, I’m gonna miss grade 7, I met a lot of great people and pretty much enjoyed being in elementary school. But, I'm excited to start high school and meet new people and to try new activities.

@Mi Good question! Personally watching youtube works best for me, it helps me relax. Basically just works best for me because I can work better with background noise or music.

I joined Laurier in February, and time had past very quickly. Its already almost the end of the school year. During Grade 7, I had been very motivated by my friends. At my first day in Laurier, I thought I need to take at least a week to make a few friends. However, my classmates are very nice to me! They told me how to do the art assignment, taught me a lot about this school, and much much more! By the end of the week, I had already made a lot of friends, and joined the Basketball Team. During this pandemic, we studied and worked at home. I think I was more efficient, since I can wake up earlier, and complete my work before lunch, so I can enjoy the rest of the day reading, and having fun! Something I want to work on is my concentration. I am a easily distracted person, such as my cats and my devices. To improve, I made a better learning environment for myself, so that I can concentrate even better. Overall, Grade 7 was a very interesting school year for me, and I am certainly looking forward to high school!!

I think I have been motivated as I have been all year. Something that is holding me back is the amount of sleep I get. Something keeping me motivated are my classmates. I feel like i'm doing pretty well. Something I could have done better is focusing. I get distracted at times.

Motivation is important in our learning. Without it we wouldn't feel like doing anything.

I am not as motivated as I was a few months ago, because I got to see my friends. To be honest my loud brother is holding me back. I can't concentrate when he is really loud. A thing that is keeping me motivated is knowing I'm going to high school soon. I feel like I''m doing well. I could have done better by making my desk cleaner.

Overall Grade 7 was a fun and different year with all this staying at home thing.

Motivation is what keeps you going, when you have a goal and you want to complete it you must give yourself some type of motivation so you can do it.
I think I’ve been pretty motivated from the start of the year to now. Nothing in particular is holding me back. The thing that’s keeping me motivated is probably the fact that after I finish my work I get to read and watch as much as I want. I can’t do whatever I want straight away because I always have to do my homework first so keeping in mind that I can do whatever I want after keeps me motivated. I’m also feeling more motivated now than ever because school is almost finished and then I can take a break from all this learning. During the summer I know I will probably have to do a lot of studying. I would have to study japanese language, writing, math, and science. I think I have been doing well this whole time, the work wasn’t that hard and it’s been easy to communicate when I had questions, I update my work usually but sometimes I don’t when I’m really busy on some days. Grade 7 has been fun and I’m going to miss being in this grade because I feel like time flew by way too fast for me.

Motivation is what we have to stay focused and remain our speed of learning. Since we are all at home learning remotely, it's hard to keep being motivated.

I believe that during the beginning of the year, motivation would always be hard for me, but now I think I'm doing a little better, by completing my homework at a certain time. Something that usually hold me back are little things, like the computer to play video games on, or just my dog barking at a squirrel, but something that does keep me motivated is a clean, quiet work space, with no distractions. As we are in quarantine, and we're learning from home, sometimes I get super distracted and leave everything to do at night, I don't do very well at those times. At this time, I can make a workspace that I'll work at everyday, instead of all over the house.

Grade 7 was a rather different year, comparing to all my other school years, it feels more unique. Motivation will help me get through next year.

Motivation is a key part of getting work done. So it’s always good to keep it together. Ever since I am not able to be in a classroom, I lose a little motivation because I am not alongside my friends. The one thing holding me back is my difficulty focusing. What keeps me motivated is striving for perfection. I feel I have been doing well.

Are you just as motivated now as you have been all year?
I have been more motivated at school but because of quarantine, I have mostly been doing everything at the last moment.

What is holding you back?
One thing that is holding me back are new Roblox updates, especially Chapter 12 of Piggy. Everyone has been trying to find the true ending and I have been watching youtubers suffer when its super obvious. Around a week, the true ending has been solved.

What is keeping you motivated?
Only one thing kept me motivated and that was more free time at the end of the day. Not to mention that sometimes I stress myself out so that kept me motivated. Also reports are coming so there's another way that kept me motivated for you.

Do you feel you have been doing well?
I was doing great in April and then I started to get distracted from all the Roblox updates, but then I finally decided to adjust my schedule so then everything worked out better.

How could you have done better during this time?
I think I could have done better if I had set alarms every time I distracted. Although they only worked for a few weeks until I started to ignore them, I think this is the only way to keep myself on track. Now I have to change the ring tone, again because that helps me.

I have always struggled with motivation. In times like these, motivation has been one of my biggest roadblocks.
Compared to beginning of the year, I have noticed that I have gradually lost motivation to complete my work. As I progressed through the year, I simply lost the motivation to work. However, ever since I began remote learning, it has reached an all time low. Due to me procrastinating nearly every day, I feel like the amount of work seems overwhelming. Therefore, I am constantly unmotivated to do any work. However, if I had lost every bit of motivation I wouldn't even be writing this PAR. What keeps me motivated is my report card. I know that if I slack off, my report card will suffer. I, like many people, don't enjoy failing so I still try to put effort into my work. Ever since term 1 ended, I felt like I have been doing progressively worse. In term 1, I was at my peak (of the year) as I was very motivated and excited to begin grade 7. To simplify it, no, I do not feel like I have been doing well, compared to my first term. I feel like I could've tried to follow the criteria more closely and participate more often during this time.
I am quite dissatisfied with how much effort I had put this term, but what is done has been done. Hopefully, I will somehow turn everything around and put every ounce of my energy into my work for these last weeks.

Motivated is important because if you don’t have motivated you will not have the speed to do your work. The thing is holding my back is speed because sometimes I don’t motivated I will do my work very slow so I will finish my work very late. I stay on motivated by listening music or get a rest when I finish one subject of the work. I think I am been motivated in this year because next year I will go to high school so I have to get motivated so I will do better on learning.

Motivation is a big part of really doing anything like building something, living, playing games anything really.

I feel I'm not as motivated as was at the beggining of the year because I just want to do other things when I really shouldn't so I really have to push to get everything done in the day the thing thats really keeping me motivated is kinda just wanting free time. I feel I've been doing ok but I could step it up a notch. A way I feel I could do better is to just not call with my friends when I work and only call with them when everything is done.

I was way more motivated before online classes happened and I've juts haven't been motivated lately and it's hard to manage all my work. But staying motivated is really important since it help gets things done easier. But I feel a bit more motivated after I play some games and that's usually when I do my homework. I've started to feel a bit more motivated since school's s finally almost over, and then I have lot's of free time to relax with no homework to do other than kumon, which is going to be annoying during summer break.

An unmotivated construction can cannot build large structures, An unmotivated army cannot fight, and a unmotivated student cannot do work.
Motivation is very important and something that basically all of us lost. I mean online school is kind of a joke so subconsciously I`m basically putting it on the same level as like a really bad after school program. I terms of things that i think are making me unmotivated i think its just the sheer amount of homework, procrastination, my cat and children screaming and playing recorders nearby my house. Not ideal. At this point I`m just waiting for summer break as everything got canceled including GT so i have literally nothing. I could probably do better by removing the children and focusing.

We all need to have motivation in these times especially in the last weeks of school.

I feel more motivated then I would usually feel to complete because it is coming to a lose and I want to end the school year well. Before this I was not that motivated to complete things but now I feel more motivated. I feel that procrastinating is holding me back and I get distracted and have to do my work for longer. I feel that getting a small gift once I've completed all my work and chores is keeping me motivated for example a small walk outside or being able to play video games. I feel that I've been doing okay but can do better with motivation. I could have doe better by staying in a quiet area with some music so that I don't get distracted.

In conclusion I think that motivation could help me get better and more organized.

Honestly, the end of the year is always extremely stressful. There's so much work crammed into a short period of time and I hate it. Over the year, I usually lose motivation to do my work, but force myself to do it anyways. In other words, I'm not currently all that motivated. One thing that is holding me back is the eighth grade math. For the past week or so, I've been rushing to submit all my work before tomorrow in order to receive my report card by a certain date. On the other hand, something that slightly motivates me is the end of the school year. I just have to work diligently for a few more weeks then I'm done.

All in all, I don't think I'm doing well. I don't like submitting my crummy quality of work, but I do it anyways because it's due the next day. If I could go back in time, one thing I would've done was work on VLN math gradually over the year, instead of the last week. I'm sure it'll get better after next week though, so I look forward to that.
